Hi
I am hoping that others who have a huge amount of weight to loose may like to have a support thread to get fit and shift some fat :)
I am currently around 18 stone, to terrified to get on the scales atm but will soon. I suffer from depression in part linked to my weight and am very unfit.
I have really got to do something, have always struggled with my weight and comfort eat hugely.
Anyone like to join me :)

Yey, loads of replies :)
Tidy, I am not planning on going to ww, been there loads of times and just get obsessed with how much I can eat! Sounds like it is working really well for you though.
Eeyore, I could well be pushing 19 stone :( after lots of shittiness this year I have binged hugely. You did so well losing the 2.5stone , would you think about going to a different class instead?
Steffanny, sleep deprivation is a bastard, ds has sn and is a very poor sleeper, I am sure that my very poor diet and caffiene addiction is linked to this. Are you planning to go to any club or not? Well done on your weight loss already :)
Stinky wow, seeing the numbers on the scales going down must be great and over a relatively short period of time as well.
whyme, dd's weight is a real biggy for me , I am planning on her getting more exercise and moderating the treats she does get, also portion size. Needless to say I will be doing the same, lots more exercise and stop buying all the lovely treats that I end up eating anyway.
I am feeling really positive atm, I have to do this, it is affecting my relationship with dh and the children, this is the time now :)

Can I join too? I'm at my heaviest EVER (i'm up there with you Eeyore Sad). I've just joined Tescodiets, doing the Low GI diet (which I've done before and got on with). I'm going to weigh in every Monday morning with hubby (who also needs to lose 3 stone).

PQR · 15/05/2011 21:52

Hi trees, low GI what is that? Good luck, are you planning on exercising as well or just diet?
I am going to get the wii fit out and weigh myself in the morning when I am alone.

Hello, can I join? I have about three stone to lose and really struggling :(

whyme2 · 16/05/2011 06:38

Hi all,

I am feeling quite positive for this week. I did the big shop on Sat and didn't buy any special treats which is a good start. I've also got my long term thinking head on. This amount of weight is not going to disappear overnight so I need to learn some new habits gradually and try not to beat myself up when stray.

Trees - my dh has lost an amazing amount of weight over the last few years and he looks so good on it, I am slightly jealous really. I have done tesco diets and found them quite helpful but I am reluctant to spend any money at the moment Grin

Steffany - well done on a good start. Tiredness is a big hurdle when it comes to weightloss.

Eeyore - I hope you're feeling okay today.

Have a good day everyone. Smile

whyme2 · 16/05/2011 06:42

Somebodynew - what is your struggle with exactly? I know I eat too large portions and I can also eat lots of junk food Blush I think my biggest hindrance is comfort eating in the evening.
This last week I have done my exercise dvd in the evening after the dcs are in bed and it seems to kill my appetite for the rest of the evening. I am trying to set a habit of not eating after tea time IYSWIM.

Monday is always good for a fresh start hey Smile

controlpantsandgladrags · 16/05/2011 06:55

Can I join in? I'm probably about 17st and a size 20. I was a size 16 when I got pregnant with DD1 4 years ago and I'd be happy to get back to that to start with if I'm honest!

I've done SW before (lost 1.5 stone) and also had a brief bash at paul McKenna (lost about 12lbs recently). My problem is that whilst these eating plans etc do work, I just can't seem to stick at them for more than a couple of months. I get bored, miss eating what I want when I want and give up.

I'm a big binge eater and it's such a hard habit to break (especially when it's an eating pattern you've followed for 20-odd years!) DH and I have more or less decided to TTC DC3 in about 18 months, and I really don't want to go through another pregnancy this fat and unfit.

Having failed so many times though, I find it so hard to remain positive and tell myself I can do it..........therefore setting myself up for yet another failure before I even start Sad

Sorry for waffling!

controlpantsandgladrags · 16/05/2011 06:59

P.S if anyone has any tips on how I can fit some exercise in, that would be great. Any walking we do has to be at 3yo old pace, so whilst we walk a lot it's probably not very effective!

SomebodyNew · 16/05/2011 08:19

Whyme, my struggle is that I just can't stop eating! It's got worse recently as I have the same issues you mentioned but am now also working from home and just seem to be in the kitchen cupboards all the time (like a toddler but with food instead of pots and pans!). I have always struggled somewhat with my weight but I just have a more out of control feeling than in the past and have gone over my previous highest weight (pregnancy excluded) by quite a bit...

treesinthebreeze · 16/05/2011 09:56

PQR - Low GI is choosing carbs that will release the energy slowly, eg, brown rice/pasta, wholegrain foods etc. It's to keep you feeling full for longer and helps to stop low blood sugars/cravings. I've done it before and it does actually work and I lose weight very well on it. My husband is keen for us to get out walking/cycling so we'll do that at weekends with dd I think and I was thinking about going to aqua aerobics one evening too. My 'job' for today is to find out times etc!

Whyme - the money aspect is one reason I've put off joining! Although it's cheaper than WW or SW, I dread to think how much I've spent on slimming clubs over the years! Still, it's GOT to be done and this is the only way I can motivate myself.

Controlpants - You sound very like me. I'm a binge eater so sympathise about breaking the habits. I love food sooo much! This is my first week on the new plan and it's going to be hell! I'm bracing myself for hunger pains and headaches. I know what it's like trying to fit in exercise with a little one. My dd is 4. We bought a child seat for the back of the bike, which worked quite well. We also went walkiing at the weekend, thinking it would be at a snail's pace but dd was actually ahead of us, keeping the pace! I'm also planning in going to aqua aerobics in the evening too.

PQR · 16/05/2011 09:58

Hello :)
whyme, glad you are feeling so positive,I have my long term thinking head on as well and chatting on here should be really useful.
controlpants, My plan is to just not buy any of the usual stuff that I always eat, crisps, choc, biscuits , I am quite good if they are not in the house. Exercise wise, what about a fitness dvd.
Hi Somebodynew, I have just been to the greengrocer and bought a huge amount of fruit and veg, my plan is to snack on that in the day.
Going to have a quick cup of coffee and then head to the beach with the dog, planning to do a 3 mile walk eeek.

treesinthebreeze · 16/05/2011 12:15

Well, morning 1 down...phew! All good so far. Just off swimming with dd .

How's everyone else doing? Hope you're all having a good day.

PQR · 16/05/2011 18:25

trees, how did the swim go?
Today has been good, refused cake at inlaws, no snacks just meals. We got more easter eggs for the children but have asked dh to hide them I have no willpower when I know that sweet things are in the house.
How is everyone else getting on?

OP posts:
SomebodyNew · 16/05/2011 18:57

PQR - that sounds like a nice walk, hope the weather was good for you. I think our dog needs more exercise so that's a good plan for me too!

steffanny · 16/05/2011 20:06

hello all.

I too am planning to go to slimming world. Di 1 week and lost 8lb then lost the plot last week and did not dare to go to weigh in.

I am on the plan again now though and will stick to it. I have been doing a lot of walking so feel fitter.

I will not be fat and 40 I will not be fat and 40... mutter.. mutter ..mutter

treesinthebreeze · 17/05/2011 14:14

Well, it was 'swimming' with dd (4) so not much actual swimming. I found out about aqua aerobics though Smile.

Feeling really motivated today. Met a friend this morning but just had a cup mof tea and refused a cake Grin Shock Had a lovely lunch too.

Hello steff....8lbs is fab! I know it's so hard when you've fallen off the wagon, but do go back and suck it up...it might not be as bad as you think. Let is know how you get on.

whyme2 · 17/05/2011 19:57

Hi all,
had a good day food wise although this evening I am really struggling with the urge to binge Sad I have done well through out the day, good meals, no snacks and I walked to school twice.
Going to have to force myself to do my dvd tonight because I know I will feel better after.

claireabo · 17/05/2011 20:28

Hi , could I join in please ? Am roughly 16.5 stone at the minute.
I had done so well as I previously lost 5.5 stone but regained 2.5 while pregnant with my fourth child, am struggling to shift it due to some health problems I had .

Heres the biggy I am getting married in September and I really want to get rid of this 2.5 stone as this would put me back to the weight i was when i met my fiance . Ideally i want to lose even more , but this is the goal for now .

I am trying to stick to 3 meals a day and fruit as snacks . Trying to drink lots of water and I have been going to the gym however thats ground to a halt as I have damaged my knee, so am using vibroplates at the minute.

whyme2 · 17/05/2011 21:13

Hi claire,

you sound like you've got a good plan. Did you lose the 5.5 doing your own plan or following something else?

Hope your knee improves quickly.

claireabo · 18/05/2011 07:35

Hi Why me , When I lost weight the first time I went to the doctors and they referred me for exercise on prescription.
It meant I got huge discount on gym membership and sessions were at a reduced weight. Its a lifestyle thing so I am lucky i still can take advantage of that.

Eating wise I think I have followed WW and SW and everything in between over the years since my eldest (13) was born , so I took what I knew worked and followed that .

PQR · 18/05/2011 15:31

Hi Claire, congratualations on your wedding, sounds like you have a good plan.
Hope everyone else is doing well?
All good here, no blips and the Eastereggs remain unhidden and uneaten.
Yesterday and today I have done a 90min walk with the dog (he is sleeping alot atm :) )
A biggie for me is eating breakfast, I can quite easily go to 3-4pm and then stuff my face so I am training myself to find 5mins in the morning to have some bran flakes.

OP posts:
claireabo · 19/05/2011 06:54

Well done on the dog walking PQR .

I had a good day foodwise yesterday , and I went for another session on the vibroplates . I am going to go to the gym this morning (DM offered to have DS2 while the rest are at school) going to try the knee out . Think I will just stick to the treadmill and cross trainer today Smile

Did some wedding shopping and bought a few bits to make our invitations I am not generally arty but figured it would keep me busy on an evening and stop me pouching .
Thanks for the congrats Smile

I just noticed in my earlier post i wrote discounted WEIGHT i did mean RATE , sorry ladies . (weight obssesed Blush )

TheHumanCatapult · 19/05/2011 07:03
