You lot! Over 'ere! Sorry for taking liberties with the previous thread: I am no good with suspense, and it was like looking at a gigantic throbbing pustulating boil and not being able to squeeze it

Mandalee - thank you for the offer - I will have a look at tesco diets. My only worry is whether they'd fit in with family meals - finding things all the family will eat happily can be a bit of a challenge. But ds1 and ds2 could both do with losing a bit of weight, so maybe it would help them too.

Muser · 20/05/2011 12:52

Supportive is good Pone. I ran away from some online sites once which veered rather to closely to the endorsing eating disorder side of things.

BlooferLady · 20/05/2011 12:57

Muse! Hello old bean! Yes, we're all a bit nice here, but there are SOME PEOPLE more than capable of whupping some ass should the need arise. I got properly hauled over the coals a while back with the result that after a month of not really losing I'm now on my way, thank the good Lord.

I'll be intrigued to see if the TEsco diet stuff works! I do think some sort of framework is good, for me at least. I'm so norty that if I can find any way at all to cheat I will, so I need pretty strict restraints. And a shrink Grin

I did tesco diets and failed miserably. That's just me though, what works for one won't necessarily work for another!

Walked for over an hour today pushing the buggy so done a bit of exercise. Was out of lunch so had a falafel wrap, not sure how bad or good that was!

Waves to muser I recognise you from antenatal/ postnatal thread. How's you and little one. A lot of people here are doing Sw and it's a fun, friendly fred. Unless you cock it up - then you risk the wrath of stinkypink! Weigh in on Weds....

SDTG - sweet chiili pork is in this issue of SW mag. If your kids could do with eating healthier, either tesco diets or sw will work.GPIt's just norm food cutting out fat and bread! So normal family meals like spag bol are allowed! I'm actually going to make lamb rogan josh tonight as Dh is working 2mw night and the pork is quick to make!

mandalee · 20/05/2011 20:35

Yeah, I should add the caveat that I am not a total raving convert to Tesco Diets or anything... in fact, it's been a mixed experience, though I'm having better luck now that I switched plans from Low GI to Total Wellbeing and started to get my mental house in order.

HOWEVER, having your menus laid out for you, recipes and all, and being able to order the ingredients almost literally with the click of a button, is a nice feature and might help folks who end up eating the wrong things because they're hungry and don't have anything healthy planned [puts hand up]

Plus, they remind you to get in your 5 glasses water, 3 dairy serves and your 5 fruit n veg, which can't be a bad thing. I have been known to chug two big glasses of water before bed just in order to tick those little boxes... Grin

Different strokes for different folks, for sure.

mandalee · 20/05/2011 20:37

Oh, and you can multiply out serves for 'family meals' so you order enough for everybody. I've had pretty good luck so far making dinners that my boys will eat.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 20/05/2011 22:11

Yes it is good for ordering food etc all at the same time. I just didn't lose weight on it.

I'm having a glass of red (5 syns) and had a meringue (2.5 syns) with natural yog and strawberries! Oh well, it's Friday night, I'm so tired, baby has been screaming so I.don't.give.a.shit

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 20/05/2011 22:49

I've sort of blown it today - duck spring rolls for lunch and shish kebab and chips for supper. I did consider coming here and telling you all I had had grilled spicy lamb, salad and pitta bread, but you would have decoded that cunning code in a flash!

I will do better tomorrow.

mandalee · 20/05/2011 23:09

SDTG, that sounds JUST like what I have done so many times - this blip is your mind telling you that you've already 'blown it' by not living up to your standard for yourself (or feel free to insert your own personal psychosis here) and so you should dive back into unhealthy food because it's a comforting old friend.

Good on you for staying calm and keeping your eyes on the prize. Tomorrow's another day. Smile

AlpinePony · 21/05/2011 06:37

I thought the world was ending today so decided not to spend my last night on earth chewing celery.

I will go and sit at the back.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 21/05/2011 07:01

Fuck fuck fuckety fuck fuck aah.

Made 2pavlovas at about midnight last night. Need them for an nct reunion pucnic. Of course, my DH is working again, so I'm going in my own again. Left them in oven as per delia. Done this recipe since I was 15 and it's never failed. And today it has. Horrible crispy flat meringue. Going to have to go to marks and buy dessert -I hate buying puddings when I can make tastier ones myself.

Black cloud over my head is getting darker, storm imminent.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 21/05/2011 07:02

Oh but if the world is going to end today, I might just throw them at DH

stinkypinky · 21/05/2011 08:34

As the world is ending today I am on flexible syns. I am sure my heavenly body will be slim.

mandalee · 21/05/2011 11:00

LOL to all you would-be Rapture-ites! Repeat after me... The end of the world... is... no...excuse... Wink

Got on the scale this morning for TD weigh-in, and have re-lost the same 300 grams I put on by osmosis last week. Yippee-fucking-skip. Angry At least I have the DOD to look forward to...? Hmm Maybe by then I'll have gotten somewhere!

Mystery to me how my body can be so damn STUBBORN about hanging onto weight. I really have been good this week, too. :-P

Cheeseandbiscuits · 21/05/2011 21:33

Mandalee- don't worry! Just keep going, maybe Dod will fare better.

I'm bored and really fed up. DH at work again, and feeling v lonely. Might as well be a single parent. Ice cream may be the answer tonight.

Made the sweet chilli pork, it was good but essentially a stirfry!

mandalee · 22/05/2011 12:34

Cheese - I'm sorry darling, but ice cream is rarely the answer. Unless you have PMT. Grin

Went out to this big charity ball dinner thingie last night and (six glasses of wine aside) was VERY good... even left most of my bread roll and all the roast potatoes on my plate. Hopefully this will offset the massive alcohol calorie intake. Hmm Moving rather slowly this morning!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 22/05/2011 13:43

Don't worry. I left the ice cream in the freezer! Did zumba this morning. Was fun and a great work out, really enjoyed so going again on weds.

Mandalee - glad you had fun at the ball! Sounds like you did well! Dod u wear a fancy frock?

Today:
b: alpen light bar (heb)
l: turkey pea and tarragon frittata
d: chilli and salad
snacks: fruit and yoghurt, likely to have a g&t once the baby is asleep!

mummynoseynora · 22/05/2011 15:33

yesterday was my wedding anniversary so in general a fail!

had a reasonably healthy dinner - salmon en croute with a white wine and thyme sauce, home made twice done chips, carrots, brocolli and cauli - only a few chips so not too bad...
desert was chocolate brownie cake and ice cream - but only a small bit of the cake and 'low fat frozen desert' instead of proper ice cream Confused

however there may have been a bottle ortwo of wine drunk Grin

mandalee · 22/05/2011 17:23

Congrats on the anniversary, nora! I'd say you did very well, considering [plus, anyone who had as much wine as I did last night has NO right to throw stones in any case! Wink

Cheese - yes, got to wear a slinky black halterneck dress I've had in the closet with tags on for literally 5 years (!!) When my husband asked "Wow, where'd you get that dress, I've never seen it," I replied, "Well, I guess YOU haven't taken me anywhere nice enough to wear it!" Cheekymanda. Grin

Cheeseandbiscuits · 22/05/2011 18:03

Congrats Nora! Don't blame you for having a few cheeky wines.

Mandalee - dress sound very lovely. We haven't been to anything swanky for ages. I've got a wardrobe full of nice dresses, just need to go somwhere to wear them. Going to a wedding nxt wkend, dragging out an old Hobbs dress. I love it. The question is can I push the pram in 4 1/2 inch heels?!

BlooferLady · 22/05/2011 18:04

Oooo Congrats this end on l'anniversaire, Nora! And I always think that if you didn't let your hair down on such occasions then you'd get resentful and mizz and wouldn't stick to The Plan, so I think it was good all round .

Cannot begin to imagine what it must be like to wear a halterneck dress Shock .

No then, I hope Stinky is reading because I have Been Good. I have just this minute returned from the country house weekend away. Friday night and Saturday I let my hair all the way down and binge drank and ate lots (not much between meals and nothing too unhealthy, but not controlled SW foodz), so I decided to be good today. Everyone was having great doorstops of buttered toast for breakfast, and I had an apple and an orange. Then at mid morning there were sausages, bacon and cheese savoury pancake things, and swear to God I wanted some SO MUCH my heart was racing and I was practically in teras. Instead I had a fag and cuppa. I then held out through various pub threats and sundry picnicy treats and made it home, where I am about to have a SW recipe chicken stew and some fruit salad. I don't recommend going an entire day, including long walks in the hot sun, on an apple and an orange, but I have proved to myself that just because you're hungry, it doesn't mean you have to eat.

ANYWAY I am glad I was good as an invitation has just come through to a party where they're doing some murder mystery biz, and we have to dress up, and I have been allocated the part of England's greatest beauty and a famed novelist Confused. MUCH fun. I am off to see if I can get a vintage 1900 tiara for a tenner off ebay Grin

How are you all, dears? Good weekends all round? Two days left before the Day of Doom - let's all shave off an extra pound between now and then!

OP posts:
Cheeseandbiscuits · 22/05/2011 18:34

bloofer sounds like you had a fab time away. Maybe all the long walks will compensate for the booze etc. Well done today- I wouldn't be able to eat that little. Hurrah for murder mystery..so much fun and I love fancy dress! I'm well jell.

Am already feeling the effects of Zumba! That'll teach me for thinking it'd be a piece of cake (if only..)

Muser · 22/05/2011 18:37

Slinky black halternecks sound like just the thing I want to be wearing. Have decided I shall be starting the diet on Weds when you all do your weigh in thing. I have a family party at the end of June and I'd like to have lost all the baby weight by then (10lbs to lose), then I have to work on the pre-baby weight.

BlooferLady · 22/05/2011 18:45

hurrah for your first Day of Doom Muse! 10lb by the end of June should be AOK I reckon. Especially considering how strict SOME people on here are...

I haven't played dress up for a while Cheese - fun innit? Last time I was The Girl With the Pearl Earring. It was my FB profile pic for a while, in a fashion that was crucially in no way attention seeking and pretentious Grin

OP posts:
AlpinePony · 22/05/2011 18:47

I went out to dinner last night with some friends (all English/Scottish) and was pretty good - it was a wok place so I was able to pick out my veggies & lean meat & choose a sauce. I then proceeded to sweat it out through my eyeballs.

Did an exercise class this morning.

Am furious with OH and have passively-aggressively just eaten a stale cheese roll. To my knowledge this last week he's had 2 mcdonalds and 1 burger king. Yesterday he said he'd cook fish for me tonight. He asked me to grab him a BK on the way home from the stables. I refused and he's "forgotten" what he said he was going to cook. He is now frying up a bunch of french toast. I am so sick of him eating like a cholesterol-addled heart-attack bound student! Angry
