Let's start afresh!

OP posts:

bah! 10 5.25 this morning. I have put on 2.5lb since saturday. I am hoping it is PMT weight. Although I did have a chocolate brownie yesterday. Oh and chinese and pringles on Mon night Blush so I suppose I can't really complain.

Dinner last night was lovely. Big mushrooms stuffed with stilton, garlic, red onion, bacon, thyme and parsley (fried the bacon and onion, blitz the rest of the ingredients in processor, then stir in the bacon/onion mix) roasted in the oven for about 25 mins. Served with salad. V nice and very filling.

But Greek yoghurt is about 10% fat; that's why it's so bloody delicious!

I am doing badly in this low-carb business - toast for breakfast and I keep snacking on biscuit. O the shame! Blush However, I have hopes of improvement after Lent, when I can have coffee again. I have my coffee quite milky, and think the lack of it is why I have been wanting to snack!

CointreauVersial · 06/04/2011 13:14

Sal, soya yogurt may be lower carb, but it's minging, sorry.

By the way, I just looked at a pack of chili ricecakes and they're only 5.7g carb per cake, which isn't too horrendous once in a while.

Finallygotaroundtoit - have a look at Ground Linseed/Flaxseed next time you're in a Health Food shop - you can spoon it into eggy things, or sprinkle on yogurt to give you fibre without too much carb. Ground almonds also OK.

FBB, that sounds yummy - you clearly know your way around a kitchen. Grin Only problem is, if I cooked that, only DD1 and I would eat it - DH and DS1 would reject the mushroom, DD2 would scrape off the topping as she likes mushrooms but doesn't like bacon.......sigh.....oh to have unfussy kids.

Afternoon all, I'm posting my lunch today so if anyone see's anything I should be avoiding please tell me.

1 1/2 slices of unprocessed ham, coleslaw, little bit of corned beef & yellow pickle, lettuce & a slice of feta cheese.

I've made up the mince for the moussaka for tonights dinner.

I could eat the last of the pringles but I am resisting & will have a glass of water instead.

Keep the carb cupboards closed!!!

Sarraburd · 06/04/2011 13:41

Cf fair enough - that's how I feel about wine! The lowest carb fruit are berries and watermelon, then in general other northern fruits eg apples, plums and also citrus fruit, and then things that wouldn't grow in this country eg peaches, grapes, mango. Bananas dates and figs are worst.

lowcarbfriends.com/carbcounter/fruit.shtml

Fbb that sounds great!

ExitPursuedByALamb · 06/04/2011 14:28

Breakfast two kippers and a scrambled egg.
Lunch - 10 raspberries with a tablespoon of cream.

Is cream OK?

FreeButtonBee · 06/04/2011 14:46

CV - I love cooking and that's part of the reason I was so fat! This WoE appeals to me because it means that I can still eat lovely food; I just have to be more creative. And TBH the carb bit is rarely the best bit anyway.

I am still not having much luck with celeriac chips though - what am I doing wrong? They don't got crispy - maybe they are not thick enough.

Period just arrived so hopefully I will de-bloat a bit over the next day or so and get back to 10 3 sharpish. Under 10 by Easter is looking a bit ambitious, I think. But will give it a good try.

Exit - cream is good - funnily enough, double cream better than single - more fat, less room for sugar!

Thanks for that, Sarraburd! I went to the market today and got a huge melon, and have had three strawberries now. Melon will go in fridge.

I went monday and tuesday with no coffee and craved everything I saw... Today I have had two cups and feel fine. Also, today, I saw an elderly neighbour of mine whom I haven't seen in a few weeks, and the fisrt thing he said was "wow, you've lost weight!" :) He then put his arm around me. It is so pathetic that I feel better after being flirted with by an eighty-year-old, but hey ho, I'll take my kicks where I can get them... :o My spare tyre feels a bit smaller today too, and my jeggins are falling down a lot .

I had such a crappy day yesterday and such a wonderful one today! I wonder if it's the weather cheering me up? I also had the first copy of my new novel in the post today, so I feel brilliant. (It's in Welsh, so you folks can't read it!)
I have a Quaker meeting tonight, they always have amazing biscuits. But Ms. IronWill here isn't even worried about being tempted! :)

I've been good too! A ham salad for lunch, and a ham salad for dinner... Sounds dull, but I put some roasted pepper and red onion with the one tonight, it was gorgeous. Also five strawberries, two coffees and water.

Went for a walk with the toddler in the pram this afternoon, and thought that was enough, but it was so nice tonight I walked up a mountain with him in the carrier. I thought I was going to die! Had to stop a lot to catch my breath- He is very heavy! But I got to the top and felt like a million dollars. :)

DS1 (5) looks to be coming down with something- His best frined has just had chicken pox- So I'll be inside with him all day tomorrow. Walking up a mountain is so much nicer than 30 day shred! My poor baby. :(

Finallygotaroundtoit · 06/04/2011 23:32

Thanks for the tip about flaxseeds Cointreau - will have a look in the health shop. Are they high fat though? - I'm still a bit worried about overdoing the fat.

I like Soya yog, think it tastes 'fresh' & the plain is only 2.1g carbs per 100g (the vanilla flavour is more).
Having got used to Soya milk in tea, I now find I can taste the 'cow' in regular milk!

I fannied about with the Shred for a while & kept forgetting where I was up to so started again on 1st April - 6 days down, only 24 to go!
Hoping not to phone it in cos I DO want to look like Natalie (minus the thighs)

Can you tell I'm an all or nothing gal?
Work mate brought some cake in and tried to get me to have a small piece cos it 'wouldn't hurt' - I thought to myself the reason why she's slim (and I'm not) is because she really can just have a bit - I can't.
On meals out she stops when she's full - I clear the plate.
Incredibly she still has chocolate in her house from Xmas !!!!!!!!

FreeButtonBee · 07/04/2011 08:53

Right, PMT finally gone. Thank fuck. two weeks of sore breasts is taking the piss. I am now full of vim and vigour and ready to kick it. Grin

I very nearly jacked it all in last night - I was vry tempted by a massive bowl of pasta and 3 doughnuts for my dinner but managed to resist. Had chicken salad followed by a lovely bowl of double cream and berries with small amount of dark choc grated over the top.

Weight on the way back down as well, 10 4.25 this morning. So I am glad I stayed strong. Just about to have my morning yog, then skinny burrito for lunch and griddled lamb chops with salad and hummus for dinner, with pittas for DH.

I am still ignoring all you exercisers. I pilate once a week (and it is pretty hardcore as it's on the machines) but that's it at the moment.

CointreauVersial · 07/04/2011 13:04

Bohica - your lunch yesterday sounded pretty OK, but doesn't corned beef have....corn in it? Or am I totally deluded? I can't remember when I last ate it, tbh.

FBB - my celeriac chips were a little on the bendy side too, and not one of the family liked them, so I haven't done them since. I've stuck to the dauphinois.

CF - you sound like you're on a roll. Hope it continues.

Finallygotaroundtoit - no idea about the fat content of ground Linseed - I'm not at home to check the packet. But a little goes a long way, and it has lots of healthy Omega 3 benefits, even if Custy does think it tastes like a badger's wet fart. Grin

I've been good all week so far, apart from yesterday evening - DS1 had a mate round, and when the mum came to collect we cracked open a bottle of Chardonnay. Two hours later..... Blush

Anyway, just scoffing my lunch of Tuna Mayo wrapped in iceberg leaves and wishing I wasn't stuck here manning the phones. Sigh.

ConstanceFelicity · 07/04/2011 13:43

I have danced to Michael Jackson instead of doing the shred today. In my bra and pants. At least I gave my sick little boy something to point and laugh at... Blush

Sal put it in a box, it isn't so bad and you were really good yesterday and went for a run.
