Today I had:
veg and quorn sausages for lunch. Made cheesy ham omlettes for the rest of the family but resisted... I am trying to just stick with veg and meat/fish 'til I'm 11 and a half stone ish...
A HUGE salad with tuna for dinner. Did put a bit of low fat mayo with the tuna, which I felt guilty about.
Went for a walk (uphill, knackering!) and did exercises at home too.
Good day to think I was up from 3 last night freaking about the massive thunder outside... :(

DH asked f I would like a curry tomorrow for mother's day, seeing as I've been so good. I did say I'd allow myself a few treats, otherwise I'll never get through it, but it seems so much of a step back. I need to learn that one slip doesn't spell the end! Otherwise I'm doomed. I have, however, declined the curry. :)

Hi all,

Well done FBB and Sal on the diminishing weight. Sal, it's the running, I tell you....

FBB, lucky you if you hung onto your rack - my boobs have been the major casualty of this whole low-carb lark; they're a shadow of their former selves.

Well, I was mostly good today:
Breakfast - yogurt, berries & almonds
Lunch - Nicoise Salad (tuna, egg, green beans, leaves)
Dinner - that lovely Pizza Chicken; the whole family loved it, although next time I'm going to add some tomato puree to "tomato" it up a bit more.

I said "mostly" good. I went to Wisley this afternoon with my dad, and was seduced by a scone with jam and clotted cream....mmmmmm.....Blush

Anyway, Happy Mother's Day to you all. May you be granted breakfast in bed and immunity from any cooking or housework for the whole day (yeah, right).

SpringFollows · 03/04/2011 12:02

Well, I fell off the low carb wagon yesterday and ate melba toast with my smoked salmon pate and ate potatoes. Then this morning I ate leftover melba toast with glorious old smelly stilton.

and I am having a G&T post church. Blush

I can feel the bloating! I have decided not to beat myself up though and will return to l-c from ... um.... now. :)

Someone actually said yesterday they could see I have lost weight. I am pleased. Nice to have a BMI of 25 for the first time in frankly years.

FreeButtonBee · 03/04/2011 13:56

What a lovely day it is today. Not super sunny but fresh and Spring-y. I've done 20 mins gardening and my little roof terrace is looking lovely.

A lb or so on this morning but not unexpected as had dinner with friends last night. Had bacon and a lovely poached egg for breakfast and a couple of nibbles of cheese. DInner will be lamb chops marinated in olive oil, lemon juice and garlis, along with some sort of celeriac action and purple sprouting broccoli, then stewed rhubarb and cream for pud. Yum!

Ormirian · 03/04/2011 15:28

Having a weekend off. Felt really bad end of last week - totally exhausted. Made myself a lentil and minced beef casserole (couldn't get the ingrenients for your lovely recipe freebutton - but I will be!). Fell asleep on the sofa - something I never do!. THen slept like a log that night too - best sleep for almost a year. Same again last night. Am beginning to feel human again. I have come off the wagon a little - such a craving for carbohydrates so I had wm toast with my boiled eggs and some (oops) bourbon biscuits last night Hmm

I have been working for the last 3 hours - major stressy IT crisis that has only just been solved. DH has taken the eldest 2 to MILs with her pressy, DS2 is still her because of the pox and I am just starting to relax.

I am planning to be very bad with my evening meal! Pasta probably and some red wine.

Then back to basics tomorrow.

Lunch was roast dinner with no potatoes. Then whilst I was making supper I ate 5 rings of dried apple, which are very very carby :(
Supper was chicken and ham salad.

Oh, and I had a pear mid-morning.

I think I've done okay today, considering being pissed off with DP choosing to work, and getting me something he'd put no thought into for mother's day (yes, yes, am moody cow) ;)

Went for long walk too, about 45 minutes uphill. My arse aches!

Finally waved off the last family member after a marathon eating and drinking session today. I can't for the life of me think why I bothered doing a carb-less moussaka when I followed it up with a vat of bread & butter pudding and a chocolate tart. And several bottles of wine (not just me, can I just add). And crisps. And Lindor chocolates.

Ah, it was a lovely day, not exactly a restful mother's day, but fun.

Back on the midweek low-carb wagon tomorrow......

This is not fair! I am still twelve and a half stone! This weekend, I've been so good, have really worked off the very few cals I've eaten and a lot more too... Am aching all over beacuse of exercise, and I haven't lost anything. How can this be? Makes me want to give up. I won't. But I want to. :(

Ormirian · 04/04/2011 08:42

OK major rethink needed here.

I was Dr Atkins most fervent disciple when I started this about 6 yrs ago. LCed for over 2 years, lost 20lbs and kept it off. But sadly this time round it isn;'t working - yes I have lost a stone but I have felt so ill and exhausted. Worst of all I can't run and that is what I want to do more than anything. I want to be running across the hills and fields near my house by the summer - before I started I was running 3 miles or so without too much trouble but ketosis seems to have kicked that into touch. I don't know why it isn't working this time - may be my age, might be the menopause, who knows.

I can cope with slow weight loss but not when I feel like death warmed up all the time too Sad

I feel quite frustrated tbh. But I am not abandoning all my principles. I will still major on protein for each meal, I will still eat normal dietary fat (no low fat evil!), still stick to small portions but am going to start adding a few things like oats, brown rice, lentils etc.

Sal well done on all the running.

Orm don't worry you'll still lose, just a bit slower - the diet I did last year (holford) let's you have some carbs (no more than quarter of a plate, then quarter plate protein and half veg)(so if having pasta have soup/salad first). See if that works for you. Carbs ideally should be brown not white. New potatoes better than mashed/boiled.

FBB - grate courgettes, stir in chestnut flour - half a cup or so to two courgettes, then stir in one egg per courgette, crumble in about third of a pack of feta, salt pepper lots of mint. Next time I'm going to add some grated Parmesan too as the chestnut flour made it a little sweet otherwise.

ConstanceFelicity · 04/04/2011 11:46

AF not due. I have considered the muscle thing, but I can't think that 20 mins exercise and a long walk would build up that much muscle..?
It's very disheartening. I suffer from bloating, too, and when I've eaten nothing but veg, meat and a little fruit for four whole weeks and still have a massive tummy and no change to dress size, I get a bit :(

However, since I really do feel better on it, I'm ploughing on. I'm banning the scales until Friday, and if there's nothing off by then, I'm going to rethink how I do this. But I will bloody do it, you mark my words. I am going to be a size 12 this summer. [determined emoticon]

Sarraburd · 04/04/2011 11:52

Ps am putting entire weekend in box. Actually didn't do toooo badly on the carbs - mouthful of potato and some apple sauce with the pork...but reckon I drank my body weight in red wine. It all went wrong when my brother gVe us margaritas before supper and my Swedish cousin bought out th schnapps. Urgh.

I still seem to have lost a pound but will probably stall for a bit now in punishment.

Sarraburd · 04/04/2011 11:54

Cf keep going. Often it's the week after you've been really good (or bad...) that you see the change.

FreeButtonBee · 04/04/2011 11:56

That's sucks, Orm. One thing I try to do is if I do eat carbs is to make the rest of the meal as low in fat as possible (without using low fat products which I detest). That way your body only has carbs and protein to deal with and can produce insulin to do that but doesn't have a load of fat to store as well.

I am slightly up again this morning but was a bit constipated over the w/e which now seems to have cleared up! Also didn't drink enough water.

Lunch is going to be skinny burrito jobbie. Am ravenous.

ConstanceFelicity · 04/04/2011 11:59

Thanks Sarraburd. That's just the encouragement I need! Shall stick it. Not going back to the way I was :)

Sarraburd · 04/04/2011 12:11

Ps fbb - chickpea or soya flour would probably work just as well

Sarraburd · 04/04/2011 13:08

Keep going cf keep going!

Oh and also watch the fruit - I was shocked to find out that a grapefruit has more carbs than a pitta bread! What types are you eating? That could be a factor too.

Orm - yes FBB is right - if you have some carbs you have to watch the fat more. Sorry to forget to mention that bit...cheese as flavoring rather than main event (one matchbox of cheese max per meal). I felt really great on that diet and will go back to it again for maintenance as I can't keep with no carbs at all indefinitely, but can happily eat less of them forever.
