Today I have had:
As yesterday, a salad with seeds, lettuce, tomato, cabbage, spring onion, celery, 2 Linda McCartney sausages, with a chilli and balsamic dressing.

A pork stir fry, which was absolutely rank. I hate stir fry.

2 coffees and about a litre of water.

I also did about 30 mins of exercise, including my first sweaty red faced encounter with the 30 day shred.

I must say, for someone who is totally obsessed with food, I feel really good. The only thing that gets me down is realizing that I've got quite a lot of weight still to lose, and I don't look as good as I feel. But, as someone else said, I am thinking of this as a long term thing, and I'm trying to visualise myself a size 12 by the Summer.

CointreauVersial · 31/03/2011 19:34

Visualisation is good! I spent last spring imagining my svelte self by the pool in my bikini, minus the tyre. It kept me going through the running too.

I had a nice lunch today of tuna mayo wrapped in iceberg lettuce leaves. Dinner tonight is chicken stirfry.

I have 11 for lunch on Sunday, so I've been leafing through the cookery books. I think I'll do a low-carb moussaka and salad, which everyone should be able to eat, then some jacket spuds on the side.

Anyone got any ideas for an easy low-carb starter/pre-lunch nibbles (not soup)?

Unfortunately, step-mum has announced she's bringing a brioche bread-and-butter pudding (she's an amazing cook), so I'm not quite sure why I'm bothering, as I'll be powerless to resist!

My chicken stir-fry wasn't too successful. Tesco substituted the stir-fry sauce I ordered with Sweet & Sour, which turned out to have a gazillion grams of carbs (of course, I only noticed after I'd sloshed it in).

So now I'm consoling myself with some dark chocolate and a glass of Chardonnay Blush

Mmmmmmmmmm Magnum. My teenager had a pizza tonight. I was sooo tempted!

Has anyone done ribs? I bought some and am thinking of chucking them in the slow cooker before work tomorrow.

Could murder a glass of wine with question time to dull the pain.

CointreauVersial · 31/03/2011 22:56

Bloody hell, I should have just ditched the stir fry and had a Magnum, would probably have been less carby. Angry

FreeButtonBee · 31/03/2011 23:05

Hello all. A pretty good day here. No real cheats for once, not even chocolate - i did have some red wine. But i shared it with dh in the spirit of being sociable. Didn't have too much, drank plenty of water too and am now off to bed.

Tomorrow should be more of the same i hope. Will try to find something yummy to have for dinner to keep the cravings away.

FreeButtonBee · 31/03/2011 23:07

Oi put down the Magnum and no one will get hurt fat.

Arsing hell!

I am feeling so bloated. Am not even going to step on the scales today. I am being so good too.

Started HRT 2 weeks ago. Wondering if that is contributing to the bloat

8oz gone! It's sooo slow. But better down than UP I guess.

ANyone got any recipes for stewy things. I fancy something hearty and warming. I am missing spuds atm. I usually do salad with chicken or bacon or sometime steak but want something filling. I don't care for stir-fries (not when I do them anyway). Any suggestions? Beef, lamb or chicken with some veggies in preferably - I am fighting the urge to pile in the lentils and chunks of spud.

Off for a run in a minute when my legs wake up....

Hi, I was lurking on the thin spanish woman thread, and have found this one. Can I join? I banned bread for Lent, and have started having protein and salads every day for lunch and dinner. I am 5 pounds down already and I am thrilled. I have not halted alcohol consumption though, and still ea a fair bit of fruit, so I have just eradicated bread, pastries, potatoes and pasta. 'low-carb'lite' perhaps! But i feel great, my post preg baby belly has shrunk.

I am aiming for another stone to be gone.

ConstanceFelicity · 01/04/2011 08:47

Right then, it's Friday, I am celebrating and I need to know- How bad is wine, exactly?

ConstanceFelicity · 01/04/2011 08:47

Is g & t better?

Ormirian · 01/04/2011 08:49

It's fine constance. Dry white or champagne best. G&T also fine. Just try to be moderate. I know it's supposed to be avoided but life would be too dismal with no pasta and no booze. I know it's making my weight loss slower which is frustrating but I need to be able to stick to it and a glass of white with my salad makes life much nicer Grin

Hi All - The eggs have finally got the better of me and I am now egg bound.

Welcom SpringFollows. I was the same as you. Gave up bread for Lent, read the Spanish SIL thread and then found these lovely low carb ladies. I have cut out fruit for the last few days but not weighed myself for the last couple due to the egg binding. Must find some Black Forest Tea to get things moving.

Can I eat Ricotta Cheese? Have a tub in the fridge - Any suggestions as to what I can do with it. (Polite ones only please)

I did a turkey stir fry last night, but I took mine out before puttting the noodles and sauce in, and just put a drip of sauce in mine. Twas lush actually.

FreeButtonBee · 01/04/2011 09:35

Back to 10 3.75, excellent. Cake-gate seems to have passed without too much damage.

Welcome newbies - there are lots of different approaches on this thread. I am definitely on the slakins side of things. I am trying to look at this as a longterm change to my eating habits, rather than a diet as such.

Orm - I still eat lentils about once a fortnight or so. I don't think it's slowed my weightloss. And they do give the old bowels a good clean out!

Here is a lovely recipe. I don't use carrots in it but follow the rest pretty much as written. I sometimes add other veg, depending on what is lying in the fridge. DH loves this recipe, it's one of his favourite things ever (his normal favs are lasagne and steak so it's definitely hearty).

ConstanceFelicity · 01/04/2011 09:49

I'm going to resist the wine/ g and t. I promised myself a treat of a weekend to keep me going, but when it comes down to it, it's frustrating to think of the extra hard work I'll have to do to banish that treat's calories!

theDudesmummy · 01/04/2011 10:24

Hi, sorry took a long time to get back. The Drinking Man's diet is the original low carb diet, from the 1950's, it is basically low carb and you can drink! The book is cheap and easy to get on Amazon, if anyone is interested. It's very American and 1950's so quite a fun read.

FreeButtonBee · 01/04/2011 13:29

Lunch was a slightly random green salad of peppers, roasted peppers, egg, cheese and mixed seeds. Was actually really nice.

Also had 1/2 a small bar of G&B dark choc. I've been eating it the whole way through my slackins dieting so don't think it will be too bad on the scales.
