Smokin - we can be prematurely 'past it' together then!! Wink :o I'm going to be 30 next year...in my head I'm still 17!!

Had a look at the Gilly Hicks stuff & think my littlest SILs (12 & 14) would really like some of the clothes. The older one is 15 in August so might get her a top for her birthday!

smokinaces · 18/04/2011 21:39

ha ha me too. Big 30 in Aug 2012. Damn Olympics though mean I will have to have a delayed party or none of my friends will be able to find hotel rooms!!

Smalline · 18/04/2011 22:03

Bloody hell you lot, you are all still babies, I'm old enough to be your mother! no more about being past it please, I'll soon be 50 and I'm definitely not past itGrin, I haven't heard of Gilly Hicks eitherBlush

GettinTrimmer · 18/04/2011 22:10

although I remember thinking I was old at 30 (only a few years ago Grin) there's something about leaving your 20s behind.....

But then I got over it and stopped thinking about age, something about hitting mid 30s

bebejones · 19/04/2011 07:50

One of the Bride's friends at the hen do said I was the youngest 30 year old she had ever seen! :o So I am keeping hold of that! I did have a moment last Birthday where it really hit me that I was closer to 30 than my teens...but I sort of slapped myself & that was the end of that! Am now looking forward to the huge surprise party that my DH is obviously already planning for me! :o Hmm

Smokin - that sucks about the hotels all being booked! :( My Birthday is Novemeber so it'll be all cold & miserable. I'm considering celebrating in the summer so we can have a BBQ & be outside!

bebejones · 19/04/2011 07:51

Oh & on a side note, I have lost all this weight & have the saggiest neck, it's all wrinkly & looks AWFUL! Any ideas what I can do...apart from surgery?! I'm getting really self conscious about it!

GettinTrimmer · 19/04/2011 08:46

You look great in your photos bebe.

JaneS · 19/04/2011 08:58

No clue who Gilly Hicks is either. It's starting to sound like a secret initiation code.

I'm 26 but think I relinquished my claims to cool when I started studying medieval literature ... hard to be hip 'n' bangin' when you wear fabric gloves to work. Grin

bebe - necks aren't the most appealing bits of people, are they?! I've never met someone who thought their own neck looked attractive, so it wouldn't surprise me if no one but you is noticing it.

I'm feeling all guilty this morning as I didn't do any exercise yesterday - if I write that i'll go today maybe that'll help motivate me!

GettinTrimmer · 19/04/2011 13:33

LRD how interesting, I studied English Literature at uni, for medieval only did Chaucer though which I found incredibly difficult to read in the original. At the time I'd never studied French/German which would have made it easier. I read the translations and went back to the originals to quote in essays.

smokin pain about the 2012 olympics, do you have many friends scattered about?

bebejones · 19/04/2011 15:54

Been good meals wise so far but unfortunately the block of marzipan meant for the Simnel cake has taken a bit of a hammering! Blush And DH has made my day talke dme into getting chips for dinner! Oh well, guess this spare tyre isn't going anywhere soon! Lets just hope I fit in the smaller dress when it arrives! Hmm

laughalot · 20/04/2011 09:14

Morning everyone, hope everybody well. Hasnt it been good weather except when its like this I just want to eat ice cream Grin.

Blondes you are very much in my thoughts at the moment.

JaneS · 20/04/2011 11:35

Morning (just)!

*Trimmer - ah, nice to see another English-y person about! I'm evil because I teach my students to read Chaucer by giving them someone more difficult first - they panic, but they never struggle with Chaucer again! Grin Lots of them have languages though and you're right those help a lot.

bebe - mmm, you've made me want marzipan now! Waitrose does the best cherry almond cake with marzipan running through it ... I want, I want ...

I have been fairly good on the exercise, I think. Tell me this: why is it blokes (it is blokes, honest, I'm not being sexist) who're swimming more slowly than you really take exception to you overtaking them? Grrr!

DH, poor bloke, is vegan this week ('dry' week before Easter) but he is exhausted so said he was going out to get us a 'treat' for dinner instead ... came back with fish and chips. Delicious, but ... oops!

bebejones · 20/04/2011 20:54

Had one of those manic sort of days today.

DD lost her favourite cuddly toy (ie. The one that goes everywhere & that she won't go to bed/sleep without) so I had to do a mad dash round all the shops we had been in. Carried her for AGES, was really panicking & she was distraught! :( Nice shop assistant in Clarks had found it & looked after it & was really pleased we came to get him as she said he looked sad!! :( But at least we got it back...even though we have a spare (hidden in my wardrobe) he just doesn't look as loved!

Then this afternoon I painted some more of the back garden wall while DD played with her sandpit. Need to cut the grass though...it's up to DDs knees! Blush

laughalot - so with you on the ice creams, I had one of DDs mini milks & that scratched an itch (so to speak Hmm) and they are only 60cals! :)

Blondes - don't know if you are 'there' but I am thinking of you xxx

laughalot · 20/04/2011 21:12

Oh lordie been to pub tonight for tea big mistake Blush.

GettinTrimmer · 20/04/2011 23:35

Bebe, thank goodness you found it!! Dd's bear has been lost many times , once in ASDA for four days, we kept ringing up and they said no, not here. But dh tried at customer services on the offchance, and there was bear sitting in a cupboard.

laughalot, I've gone to pot too. Currently having a lager just had a bag of crisps.

Pisty are you back from Amsterdam?

LRD why is dh vegan this week? Grin at blokes not liking being overtaken in the pool.

keep chatting slinks xx

bebejones · 21/04/2011 16:33

GT - I think I was more distraught than DD in the end! We left him at home today!!

I'm not holding out much hope for diet this weekend! Easter is tougher food wise than Christmas. (For me) Already had a Hot Cross Bun (with spread) & have a stack of them for tomorrow! (Did buy the 'healthy' ones! Hmm) But we have a fridge full of BBQ food & bread rolls a plenty! Plus a large Simnel cake that I have made, not to mention DDs all the chocolate eggs! :o

I'm going to need some serious butt kickage next week!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/04/2011 17:01

Am back from the land of cheese and bicycles. Had a lovely break and DDs birthday. Lol at you lot debating how old you are and not knowing Gilly Hicks. Whatever next?!

Yes Bebe, buy GH for those girls. They will be achingly trendy.

Well we drank way too much booze because when you are abroad it doesn't count and this weekend will be a challenge. I am going to relaunch myself the day after the May Bank Holiday. I thought I might try something new like lowcarb? Anyone fancy trying this with me?

Thinking of our lovely Blondes x

OP posts:
bebejones · 21/04/2011 17:17

Always thinking of Blondes x

I will lowcarb with you from May 3rd Piste! :)

smokinaces · 21/04/2011 18:16

Hi girls

I have a message for you all - Blondes says if we dont all lose this week she will kick our butts!!! Grin

I went to see her this morning, she's doing well. I saw her lovely wedding pictures of her and her DH and had a good chat with her (about weight, cake, chocolate and penises amongst the funeral arrangements, you know us!!) She did say she would be back one day soon, and I sent her all your love and said we'd been thinking about her.

So girls, we best have some losses this week!!!

bebejones · 21/04/2011 18:23

Dear Blondes, just want to give her a hug! If you see her again Smokin' please give her a hug from me! I did email today, but I don't expect a reply, just wanted her to know I was thinking of her.

smokinaces · 21/04/2011 18:31

She did say she had got all the messages on PM and email etc, and had read them. She is very thankful for all our thoughts and messages. And of course I shall give her a hug from all you

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/04/2011 18:53

Am so glad you saw her Smokin. I won't have lost tomorrow so I shall run for the hills to avoid my butt being kicked!

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/04/2011 19:47

And Bebe, we shall have to research our low carb diet.

OP posts:
prettybird · 21/04/2011 20:46

Can we do a Low Carb diet the same way you train for a marathon - by carbohydrate loading first? WinkGrin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/04/2011 20:54

Good idea Pretty!
