On my running thread everyone moans that they don't have swishy ponytails!

Lovely London day with DD, as DH in Middle east and DS at scout camp. We went and mooched around the Indi chick trendy places in Brick Lane had curry for lunch it would have been rude not to then went to Top Shop on Regent Street. Lovely mooching, we walked miles and miles, don't know if I burnt any calories, but my wallet certainly feels lighter Grin

Ah, so you get paid and exercise, trimmer? Sounds good!

I asked a mate of mine who's sporty and she advised me that skipping is likewise very good for weight loss but with the advantage you can do it at home - she suggested trying 2,500 or 3000 to go 'gently on the first day'. Hmm

Having 'tried' 2,500 I am absolutely shattered and walking rather stiffly, but did hop on the scales and (temporarily, I assume, since most of it's water!) have 'lost' about 3lb. Then DH took me out for dinner! Grin

I might give the running a go when I'm a bit fitter and less likely to shame myself.

blondes - can I run where you are then?! Round here it's all gorgeous 21-year-old undergraduates. Shopping, btw, definitely my favourite mode of exercise. I read in Grazia somewhere very respectable, that you walk much further than you think you do when you're wandering.

Littlefish · 17/04/2011 16:43

Hello all. I hope you don't mind me jumping in for a moment. I post on the Weight Watchers Thread usually. Blondeshavemorefun is also a very regular contributor. She recently met up with another mumsnetter-NoWayNoHow.

NoWayNoHow has just posted the following on the weight watchers thread and I thought you would like to know. I don't know if any of you are in contact with blondes in RL. Obviously I (or NoWayNoHow) will come back and post on here if we hear anything more.

As some of you know, blondes and I met up a couple of weeks ago for a coffee and a chat.

I have received a text message from her friend today with the very, very heartbreaking news that Blondes' DH passed away yesterday (Saturday).

Don't really know what to say, it's just awful and we just need to keep her in our prayers to help her get through what must be an inconceivably difficult time.

Smalline · 17/04/2011 17:17

OMG I just don't know what to say, my thoughts are with you blondes

bebejones · 17/04/2011 17:25

I am just speechless & overwhelmed by this sad sad sad news :(

Blondes - sending you so many hugs & much love at this awful and incredibly difficult time. xxxxx

NoWayNoHow · 17/04/2011 18:01

Hey all

I hope you don't me jumping in on here, didn't know when Littlefish would get my message about blondes wishes, so thought I'd let you know myself.

Blondes really doesn't want to put any details of this tragedy on MN, which is perfectly understandable. She also doesn't want a separate thread about it as it's just not something she can cope with at the moment.

Obviously if I hear any more from her that needs to be passed on, I'll let you know.

Thanks too littlefish

Sad Sad Sad

smokinaces · 17/04/2011 19:17

Thanks NoWay - I have been texting Blondes today and trying to word a post to put on here, but couldnt think of how to put it. It has really saddened me, and I am still in shock that this has happened - Blondes clearly loved him very much and glowed when she talked about him or to him. I am devastated for her.

GettinTrimmer · 17/04/2011 20:06

Hi all

Just don't know what to say Sad

GettinTrimmer · 18/04/2011 09:04

Morning all

I didn't wi this week Blush will do so tomorrow.

busy day here today, dc got friends coming. Pounding the streets later doing my census job.

Speak to you all later

JaneS · 18/04/2011 10:19

I'm so sorry blondes. Will be thinking of you.

laughalot · 18/04/2011 10:58

OMG what awful news blondes thinking about you and your family at this awful time xxxx

RatherBeOnThePiste · 18/04/2011 10:58

Weight loss does seem rather unimportant right now, but I really want us to make sure we keep this thread going so that if and when Blondes wants to find us, we are still as a group of friends in one place. Does that make sense?

Blondie - If you read this, I am thinking of you, I have thought of little else really and send my love x

It's DD's birthday today, she is 14. We got her GHDs and a Gilly Hicks voucher. If you dont know Gilly Hicks you are very untrendy! We are off for a couple of days to Amsterdam. So if I'm not here that's where I will be. But I can still get PMs I'm sure. I am currently in the glorious surrounds of Terminal 5.

So, will chat soon, but love to all
DutchPiste x

I clicked on this thread to post an update, but somehow it seems so trivial now. :(

My thoughts go out to Blondes

GettinTrimmer · 18/04/2011 14:15

Piste I have no idea who Gilly Hicks is!!! But atm I am wearing a t-shirt with bleach stains over it I seriously need a make over.

I know what you mean about keeping thread going everything seems so trivial.

What sights are you going to see in Amsterdam? Envy

bebejones · 18/04/2011 17:21

Trimmer I know exactly what you mean. Our ramblings about dieting just don't seem appropriate anymore.

(I also have no idea who Gilly Hicks is!! Blush)

laughalot · 18/04/2011 17:38

Cant stop thinking about blondes its just soooo sad I know I dont know her but it is just so very awful.

GettinTrimmer · 18/04/2011 20:28

I think Blondes would like us to keep going though Slinkies Sad

I will have to google Gilly Hicks. Pisty I am ancient!

smokinaces · 18/04/2011 20:31

I have no idea who Gilly Hicks is either! we are all offically old.

I have been doing so well - until the evenings. AF is still here and strong, so think I will have to give up until its pissed off tbh.

laughalot · 18/04/2011 20:36

Ha ha smokin Grin

GettinTrimmer · 18/04/2011 20:45

smokinaces · 18/04/2011 21:04

I raise you yours salted cashews with a bag of Frazzles, 4 jammie dodgers and 4 mini flapjacks.

bebejones · 18/04/2011 21:07

I could so eat some cashews right now! YUM!!

Although did have a piece of mud cake...with cream! Oooooooooooooooooooops! Blush Was so good all day too!
