Morning everyone.

piste, that doesn't sound awful if you use it every day - you'd spend masses more on public transport.

bebejones · 14/04/2011 11:00

Good Grief I think I pay around that to get my car serviced!!! (it's been a while coz I'm skint :0) But I spose you use it every day so not so bad!

Been a bad week here too. I think I'm getting DDs bug :( I don't want to be ill, I want to go to my friends hen do!

JaneS · 14/04/2011 11:03

Sad That's reminded me I need to get the car serviced/MOT'd. I hate doing this - always get ripped off on something. Grrr.

Sorry you're not feeling great bebe - when's the hen do?

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/04/2011 11:12

it hasnt been done for 5 years, so thats just over £20 a year - bargain

bebejones · 14/04/2011 12:29

Hen do Saturday. Although not sure I can even afford the petrol to go! :(

Just had a council tax bill for our empty flat. Our exemption has ended & now it's a 50% reduction. We can't rent it coz the kitchen needs doing & we can't do the kitchen coz we need the money from renting it to do it! Hmm

Feeling fed up again! Can you tell?! :(

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/04/2011 12:51

Bit of a no win there Bebe. Could you sell it on?

Hen dos are expensive. We went to one - weekend at a spa, all lovely but no one could really run to it at that time everyone's DC were tiny. She only bloody divorced him 2 years later. Growl

how far away is it?

OP posts:
bebejones · 14/04/2011 13:07

It's about 140miles, its where my mum lives. She (Bride) is just having a BBQ (Hmm weather permitting) but I've not seen her in ages. So only real cost to me is petrol as am staying with my mum.

With flat, it's mortgaged to the hilt so can't sell it, tenants (2 lots ago) really damaged the kitchen & caused massive damp problems so now it's devalued. Angry Stupid recession has screwed everything up for us. (DH works, self-employed, in financial sector) Timings on everthing we did, we moved house/got married/had DD all within 15months, are really now biting us in the bum financially! Just so happens that it all coincided with the downturn in the economy, & going back we probably would have waited on all 3! But hey, hindsight is a wonderful thing, and we didn't know the recession was going to hit!!

GettinTrimmer · 14/04/2011 13:53

Hope you are Ok Bebe and get to hen do. What a pain about the flat Sad What did they do to the kitchen if you don't mind me asking?

My friend's partner works as a financial advisor, I know he has to do long hours and take exams, a lot of pressure.

Piste what's involved with servicing your bike? I have no idea of the price of these things as don't ride one!

Well, the estate agents are making noises at us that we may lose the house we want, but it's going through probate so can't go forwards anyway. Dh is adamant we need to hold out for better offers on ours but don't think we'll get one because who wants to pay stamp duty at 3% on top of that Hmm

I'm in the middle a bit between him and the estate agents who say accept the perfectly good offers we have and dh thinking we'll get more. If by next week no better offers we will go for it, I don't like uncertainty!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/04/2011 14:04

GT - maybe you should accept the offer, esp if it's hovering around stamp duty price? We lost a buyer and managed to hold onto this house. All is not lost yet.

My bike has had everything lOoked at, chain was worn as were one side of the breaks so they have been replaced. Also it now has a new back inner tyre because it was bulging Blush the gears have been tweaked. So the basic service is £39 then it's parts and labour. I'm going to get it now and I shall whizz home! No more clonking Grin

Tennants got a Tumble Drier (against their tenancy agreement) and didn't have it properly fitted etc (obviously) and never opened the windows, so it caused massive damp problems which has warped the kitchen cabinets & laminate. They left without warning & no forwarding address etc. So we had their deposit but that wasn't enough to fix problem. Next tenants were friends of FIL & were working for DH, but they fell out & left. The bloke was an ex builder so was going to do the kitchen at cost etc. But left without doing it after the fall out!

The place is cursed! It's a been a complete disaster keeping it, but we needed to move & the only way we could raise the deposit for our house was to re-mortgage the flat. Which, at the time, was a good idea. Then the recession happened! We have had 5 sets of tenants in 4 years...all of them have been a disaster of one sort or another! And it has wrecked the place, we had no problems in the 4 years we lived there!!

bebejones · 14/04/2011 14:11

Trimmer - If you have no booking for more viewings I'd be tempted to accept the lower offer. It may save you hassle, and money, in the long run. (If you don't have to go & find another house if the one you are buying falls through)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/04/2011 14:20

We were so keen to move and ultimately not lose this house that we accepted 10 000 less on the old house. We decided to see it as costing us ten thousand more to get this one. Am so glad we did, because this is the one for us,and having had it lined up it would have been hard to ever find anything comparable.

If you can afford to take the lower offer, and if the other house is absolutely the one you want, then I'd be tempted.

My car is going into the garage tomorrow. Its 10 years old this summer and started making a very veyr loud noise. Its either the exhaust (fairly cheap) or the engine (not so cheap) and I dont have much cash now I've refinanced either Sad Bloody cars.

Have decided to get back on it. Have spent too long at the 11 1/2 stone mark. So went shopping today and turned over a new leaf. Going to hit the exercise too. I will shift this last stone god damn.

So 14lb. Whats realistic? 2lb a week? so 7 weeks? Say 8 with stuff coming up. So 9th June. So By mid June I want to be at Target.

Best shift my arse really then hadnt I?!!

smokinaces · 14/04/2011 15:44

Then again if the car costs too much tomorrow I will be walking everywhere and lose the weight really quick!! The school is a 50 minute walk away!!

smokinaces · 14/04/2011 16:27

Just did 15 minutes and 1500 steps on my reebok stepper. Had to sweep the dust off it. Could blame the decorating, but think in reality its just not been used for a loooooooooooong time. Thinking of trying to find my Davina DVD for tonight too.

I know whats kicked my arse motivation wise. My older sister is down to 11st 3. My younger sister is 9 1/2 stone. I will not be the fat sister. God damn I will get down to my goal of 10st 6.

bebejones · 14/04/2011 16:33

Eeeek DD just ate a load of playdough, she has blue teeth & a blue tongue!! Confused Not quite sure what to do, have cleaned her up. Left her for 2mins...she usually sits and plays with it happily for hours! Not quite sure what posessed her to do that! She'll be ok right? Confused Feeling like a bad mummy today! :(

Good Luck Smokin with the exercise kick!! Pass some motivation my way, I just can't be arsed at all!

smokinaces · 14/04/2011 16:42

Home made playdough Bebe, or shop? Either should be fine though! Cant imagine she ate all that much!

Just done the boys shepherds pie and I have some pasta in sauce cooking. Found the old trusty Davina, so will put her on after bedtime tonight and prance around like an idiot

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/04/2011 17:08

bebe bummer about the flat :( fucking tenants!!! Angry is there any way you can take out a loan/put on interest free credit card so you get kitchen done and then new tenants in?

trimmer accept the lower offer,, or see if they will pay up to the chnage in stamp duty, ie if £300k then 299,999 and 99p Grin

smokin hope car is ok :( glad you are back in the mode

hopefully i will be saturday :)

i did not eat coffee cake with my friend today for lunch

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/04/2011 17:08

ps playdough wont do any harm

woofa ate loads a few months ago and all that happened was that his poo turned blue Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/04/2011 17:27

Eating playdough is par for the course and she will have inetersting poo when the blue dough has been through her system.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/04/2011 17:30

generally tho playdough is so disgustingly tastes of sperm salty that no wants wants to swallow eat it Grin

smokinaces · 14/04/2011 17:30

ooooooooooooooooh Blondes was it Coffee & Walnut? My altime favourite.

Car is making a not good noise. Very loud engine - can hear the dip everytime the clutch is pressed. Not hopeful, thankfully I got an extra £400 when I refinanced for this exact reason (dont trust cars) Luckily E's nursery is a 10 minute walk, work a 30 minute walk. The only thing is the school which is out in the sticks (those hills are a killer) so I need a car for that.

I took the boys swimming this morning. It has just hit me how tired I am. I may do 15 minutes stepper and bed as opposed to Davina tonight - especially as car needs to be at garage at 8.30am. And then I need to take the kids somewhere to entertain them. Gah.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/04/2011 17:34

indeed it was coffee and walnut smokin which is weird as i cant stand coffee but love coffee cake Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/04/2011 17:45

Sperm flavoured playdough Grin
