2 stone to lose - GL and couch - 5km

mamasunshine · 18/03/2011 09:51

Ok so I'm now desperate to lose 2 stone. Starting to feel motivated so have bought Holford's GL diet book (just started reading). Makes a lot of sense. I'm also going to start running with the couch - 5km on Bupa website. Going to start getting into motivated mode over the weekend...with 1st run Saturday morning! Buying a set of scales this afternoon, but think I'm about 11 stone at 5ft4. Going to do this slowly though, so only looking at 1lb a week weightloss, an extra 1lb here and there would be an excellent bonus Grin

Would anyone care to join me for motivation/to keep me on the straight and narrow?! Also to share any tasty recipes/food/snack ideas etc!

Will weigh-in on a Saturday Smile

well done emma on the whopping weight loss. and dee, stick at it - well done for getting back out there. my dh does shifts and it is a bloody nightmare trying to work round them. that's why i would like to get running - no worries about getting to the gym, or timetabled classes etc. just shoes on and go.

Hi all

As I said before, I just wanted to get away from SW and any other 'diet plan' and focus on eating healthily and exercising more. I wasn't 100% last week, but still managed to loose 3lbs, which I am delighted with! To be honest I think I was closer to 12st 4 when I started, so am 12st 1lb now.
Weighed myself on Saturday morning, then had a bit of a wobble over the weekend, but am back on track since Monday morning now.

Focus for this week is to try to get in at least a few sessions of exercise, even if it is only a brisk 30 minute walk. Am flat out at work, and bringing work home with me most nights, so finding the time is hard. Am off for over a week and a half at Easter though, so hope to get into a bette routine then.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 18/04/2011 07:44

not sure if the rest of you are still here.....i do hope so Grin
i have not been running at all due to strains to my knees. a bit of googling suggests that the fact that my running route is very hilly might have contributed a bit towards this. so this week i am going to start again just with brisk walking for 30mins, and sadly i will have to forgoe my beautiful park for pounding the dreary suburban street - even this will be a bit hilly. will weigh in later.

ZZMum · 18/04/2011 10:40

Morning! I have just been away working for a week in a lovely hotel with gorgeous food and fine wine - there was a gym I believe but never quite saw it .. am now not going to weigh self as it will depress me and so am going to try to run 5x a week to get back on programme - am finding it so hard to get time - or rather make the motivation to make the time.. ran last night for 30 mins and going to try same today ... so I have now 8 weeks to get ready for race for life so am going to FOCUS!! this is me now back on the programme!! Hope everyone else is good!

Jobi1 · 18/04/2011 20:29

Hi all!! How is everyone? Are we a bit diminished these days?

Completed week 4 of Couch to 5k last Friday and felt great, so really chuffed with that. Really starting to get into it. Eating ok and lost another pound. Feel a bit disheartened with how far I've got to go, but hey ho.

killed it at the gym tonight.

'official weigh' tomorrow but I did weigh myself today and was 9st 10!! so another bit of weight gone!!

deedee321 · 19/04/2011 19:29

Hi everyone. Chickenpox hit our house and mummy was needed 24/7 so not run at all in the last week. Really hoping to get back into it over the next few days.
But still smiling as must just be post-baby weight loss, but I am down to 11 stone exactly. It's not great, but it's a loss so somehow that is spurning me on to EARN the next loss :).
Well done to all of you putting in the effort, it's clearly paying off, yaaay!

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 19/04/2011 19:53

well done everyone.
despite not running I am down to 11st 11! I think this is attributable to giving up bf. no chance to walk this week as DH is on long late shifts, but will be pounding the pavements come friday.

Hi all, I've lost track of where people are up to so have just started a weight loss table for this week. Completed Couch to 5k Week 5 this morning, the 20 min run, and felt pretty good really. Am a bit stiff and crampy tonight but not too bad. Another pound down, am going to have to be stricter on the diet to lose more than a pound a week I think, but at least its in the right direction.

Welcome buggerlugs Smile

Anyone seen mamsunshine?!?!

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 23/04/2011 21:03

welcome buggerlugs.
if you have run today you are a better woman than me.
i have not even been for a walk this week. made and ate many hot cross buns on Friday, followed by birthday takeout. Then SILs birthday bash today (wine, cake, buffet), and Easter chocfest tomorrow.

I'm weighing on Monday but TBH if I can only avoid putting any on I'll be thrilled.

ZZMum · 23/04/2011 21:05

hey - have sinned bad and so am back on programme as off today - just finished week 1 (again!) and still weigh 12 stones - back at gym tomorrow and recent events have made me realise just how much I need to lose these 2 stones.. denial is now not an option!

tiredemma · 24/04/2011 10:02

not weighing myself until tuesday so im still at 9st 10lbs

been out for 5k run this morning with DP.

Bloody hell, went 600 calories over my allowance today, mostly wine. Oops. Oh well, no point in stressing now, back on track tomorrow. At least now I'm on week 6 of the C25k programme its ramping up a bit, so hopefully will burn a few more cals too. Am beating myself with a big stick at the mo... I wonder how many calories that uses!

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 25/04/2011 12:17

still no exercise here
although i was messing about with dd1 in the park, and my knees now feel fine, so i think the time is nigh to get power walking again at the very least.
weight: 11st 10. so lost a pound, which i'm thrilled with after the week i've had

NimpyWindowmash · 25/04/2011 23:16

Hi everyone - just decided i want to try couch to 5k. Can anyone recommend a website for the plan? Or iPhone app? There seem to be dozens, are they all the same?
Thanks in advance

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 26/04/2011 07:43

welcome nimpy.
google nhs couch to 5k. there is a free podcast there.
the music is a bit gash though, so if you can find something better let me know!

Jobi1 · 26/04/2011 14:36

Welcome Smile The bupa couch to 5k app for iphone is fine, no music though, just a scary woman telling you what to do when. Or the nhs podcast is good on an ipod. Good luck, its really good I think. I'm on Session 2 of Week 6 (tonight) and although its a struggle sometimes its going pretty well.

ZZMum · 26/04/2011 14:42

I use one that only cost a couple of quid of istore and I like it as you can use your own music and then have some one say "walk" or "run" at the right times.. it is on www.c25K.com - totally worth it.. am out tonight starting week 2 again but at a higher speed .. already feeling the pain!

Jobi1 · 26/04/2011 23:25

Am hurting after a second run in two days...usually have a break in between but had to fit it in when I could this week. Knees hurt! Bit scared because I've just looked at the rest of the programme and its all running now, no run/walk! Yikes.

Jobi1 · 01/05/2011 16:06

Finished C25K week 6 :o) And its running all the way now, scary! Felt good though, so was pretty pleased. Also got Zumba for the PS3, which is HARD!! Good though, fun, and seems to also entertain the littlun.

Lost 2lbs to bring me to ? st 5lbs :o)

Is anyone else still in this with me?!

Jobi1 · 06/05/2011 08:10

No one else seems to be posting on this any more so I'm going to stop bothering. I haven't got time to check all the threads so maybe there's a new one or something. Anyway, bye & good luck.
