Evening ladies,

quickly popping in with results of WI.... 3lb off! Really pleased, got back on it and feel all motivated again, only another 59lb to go!!! (remind me never to get this big ever again!)

Will be back on tomorrow to catch up properly.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2011 21:03

Well done sparkle! That's brilliant!

blondes PMSL with an image of you in my head with a Smarties tube coming out each nostril Grin

That sounds like an excellent day food wise, in terms of volume - you had so many pp left but you certainly ate well. And that's why I love WW!

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2011 21:27

i ate well, didnt starve and had pp over

now why isnt every day like that? Hmm

Well done losers!

I was naughty at the weekend as per usual, so today was the first of my five day run at undoing the damage before WI day.

Did ok today. Ate well and had 2 hours of brisk walking and 3 hours of general pottering in the park, so must have earned a few activities there. More park planned for tomorrow, and maybe a wander round the shops, so fingers crossed I'll keep on the straight and narrow.

I turned down the offer of chocolate today! Unheard of!

wizzler · 21/03/2011 22:09

Had a really good day today, ate sensibly at lunch; M&S butternut squash wrap is yum for only 6 points, then mango as a treat.( well ok, not in the same way that half a bottle of wine is a treat but ykwim!) Had normal dinner with family, just much smaller portions of white carbs.

Played tennis tonight, and have weaned myself of slurping down lucozade at each change of ends and just have water now.

Best of all, 4 Shock yes 4 people today stopped me to ask how much weight I had lost and said how much better I was looking. Really cheered me up! I have done 12.5lbs since Xmas at a pedestrian pace, so am v pleased, and newly motivated !

Well done Sparkle

hmc · 21/03/2011 22:24

Well done Sparkle!

BigTillyMints - thanks for that feedback from the gym team. When I run at circa 5.5 mph I would put my exertion level at 7/8 so just about on the cusp of intense, but perhaps not quite there...

Re your heart rate of 140-150 when working out, this could be the training zone for cardiovascular exercise (which would be 'intense'), which is generally 85% of you age based maximum heart rate. Depends how old you are. I am 42 and it happens to be my cardio range (I think my machines tell me my target heart rate is 147).

Hope you enjoyed your wedge of pizza NoWay!

hmc · 21/03/2011 22:25

Ah, it is really motivating when folk notice Wizzler.

I've had a good day on food too - kind of a case of having to really in my case having gone shamefully over my weeklies!

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2011 22:29

wizzler glad day went well. Wrap sounds yummy. I do think m&s do nixe food and fab when people start to notice :)

maximising fat oxidisation

For BigTilly and anyone else who is interested ...bit of a complicated article attached, but what I take from it is to maximise fat burning avoid carb intake prior to training. I exercise about an hour and a half after breakfast, so tomorrow I am going to have egg and bacon (without toast) rather than the porridge I ate today!

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 21/03/2011 23:17

waves.

been away for a few days and drowning in housework etc., hopefully catch up tomorrow.

androbbob · 21/03/2011 23:20

Interesting article HMC - I am type 2 diabetic and cant process carbs well. I have had a carb loaded month really and have not lost much weight. This month I am cutting down drastically on carbs as it is the only thing to shift the weight. I usually have porridge before I go to the gym on a monday morning, so will try a protein based breakfast for the next few weeks and the same with tea on the evenings I go and exercise.

I am training for a 5k run with work. I did it 2 years ago and managed 37 minutes. I used to run regularly pre kids and managed sub 30, so I am training properly following the Couch to 5K programme - skipped weeks 1 and 2 and started on 3. I have only managed to do 3.65km in 30 mins, but hope to progress! I do interval training on treadmill and will venture out after easter hols, so hope to crack it! I think I run too slow on the treadmill - I am doing 2 minutes at 9kmph and then 1 minute walk and aiming to increase the running or decrease the walking over the next few weeks. I also do a 5 min walk as part of the warmup so need to cut that down and do a gentle jog!

Did ok with food today although surcumbed to some malteasers - white ones! Yum!

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2011 23:51

androb malteasres

24=6pp

bigTillyMint · 22/03/2011 06:30

hmc Yes, I need to check on the posters in the gym again, but when my heart-rate is 150+, it's in the trained athletes (or somesuch) category for training!!! I'm 46Shock I can only work out at that rate for any length of time on the cross-trainer - I would have to be running at 10+km/h to do it on the treadmill, and I can't do that for very long!

Ineresting looking article - I reckon you are right about athletes eating protein before training - there are always articles about what they eat in magazines and it seems to be loads of protein.

Good luck androbob. I keep thinking I ought to try a 5k - I could just about do it in 40 or so mins I think, but I hate running - power walking is the way to go!

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 22/03/2011 08:39

Very interesting article HMC, thanks for posting that. I am losing so much more consistently now I have increased protein and cut carbs plus increased exercise. Was interested to see that bit about Green Tea. Need to cut my cups of tea so will try replacing some with Green Tea.

Jojo fab amount of activity and well done on the chocolate refusal, very impressive.

Whizzler that's brilliant people are noticing. Do you find some people don't like to say anything but give you funny looks, trying to look you up and down without you noticing? I keep getting this.

Sparkle, can't see what you've done on the other page but whatever it is, well done !

Androbbob, well done on aiming to do the 5k. I'd like to run when I'm a couple of stone lighter. Protein for breakfast has been brilliant for me, really takes the edge off my appetite.

Blondes I'm sitting here wondering if I have enough self control to buy a pack of maltesers and eat 4!

I've now got to just under half way, done 3.5 stone, 3 stone 11lbs to go which will take me to top of BMI. Have got to the stage though where if I say how much more I am going to lose that people look at me like I'm mad. Which is good in that assumably I don't look like I need to lose that much, but can see is going to get annoying so am going to lie and say another couple of stone or so. And I'm finding people really push for facts and figures and don't let it drop very quickly when it's clear I'm not going to give them. Thing is I have a big frame (fingers won't go round wrist) and sodding enormous norkage . Sorry, big of a whinge there ! I am going to ignore it, I know people are worried I'll over do it but there is no chance of that, I weigh 15 stone 3lbs so definitely have it to lose!

NoWayNoHow · 22/03/2011 08:54

wynken, it's so strange isn't it how people feel they can just push themselves in and lecture on your life! You know your body, you know what you're aiming for. There's no rule book that says you can't change you mind when you hit another 1st/2st/3st loss and stop there, nor is there any rule that says you can't lose MORE than 3.5st if you want to.

Well, 0.5lbs off for me this week, which is fine considering I ate all my weeklies. I think the reason I've lost this week when I've gained on other weeks when I've eaten close to 49 is because my main weekly binge (38pp) was the day after WI last week, so I've had some time to counteract it. Also, even though I ate my dailies yesterday whilst being poorly, the volume was very low, IYKWIM.

Hope you're all well this morning!

sparkle101 · 22/03/2011 09:04

blondes afraid to say I had all 49. I don't get it, I assume because I have so much to lose that's why I can still lose, maybe when I get a bit further down I won't be able to use them. Also looking at my weeklies, I lose when I have them all in one splurge (meal out mostly) if I have wine then I don't lose, if I have my weeklies over the week I don't lose. But also remember the week before I ate my body weight in rubbish food as I fell off the wagon in spectacular style! Any attempt at dieting last week meant I would hopefully lose something IYSWIM.

littlefish could luck for WI today, fingers crossed it's good news!

debs 14pp? No wonder you're not losing - what blondes said!!!

Well done on the loss mrs and willaby

Welcome immortal I second (or third) getting the EOG and shopping, EOG stays in my bag just in case!

Noway I know what you mean about the reasons we eat, the old plan looked at it a small bit but this one not so much. Am thinking about starting a food diary thing about why I eat what I eat and my relationship with food which isn't great.

Amazing wynken you'er doing amazingly well, ignore what everyone else says, they're just jealous!

Well done on loss noway. The 49 point debate continues!

Andro ouch! Hope it stops hurting soon! Hope today is slightly nicer!

I bought the mini chocolate bites in meeting yesterday, all mixed up for 1pp each, really pleased they are all individually wrapped and only being 1pp they are great if you just want something small to take the edge off the sweet craving.

Off to Ikea and lakeside tomorrow so worried about eating lots when I'm out, only 1.5lb off a stone and a half so want to do that this week!

As I am in next stone catergory now do I have to drop a point?

NoWayNoHow · 22/03/2011 09:23

sparkle, how many pp are you on a day? If not 29, then I would guess that you wouldn't drop a point when you hit the next stone bracket, but I'd check with your leader.

IKEA portions are a really good, manageable size, plus the type of food you can get there is good too (salmon and salad, pasta with arrabbiata sauce, chicken and salad), so while it may be difficult to point it all, you can make sensible choices.

At Lakeside, there's Fat Jackets (for jacket potatos which are always a good option), Giraffe (they do a great superfood salad), Nandos (chicken salad is +/- 9PP IIRC), Pret a Manger (loads of different low fat sarnies/salads/sushi), Strada (pastas with tomato based sauces), Wagamama and Yo Sushi!

There should be something that you can find. Make it your main meal for the day, and have low/0pp soup for dinner.

NoWayNoHow · 22/03/2011 09:24

Sorry, "that you would drop a point"

hmc · 22/03/2011 09:58

I think yes you would drop a point Sparkle - but check with your leader.

Good luck with the 5k run androbbob - interval training is supposed to increase your overall speed if that is what you are aiming for. Will your type 2 diabetes potentially abate with further weight loss?

Bigtilly - there are some tools on the net which give you the maximum heart rate to aim for depending on age and like I said mine is supposed to be 147, but that is an average. I put in my fitness level as 'fit' and it adjusted it to 152 so I think it is okay to exercise at that level as long as you listen to your body and slow down if dizzy or nauseous. Not suprised you can't keep that up very long - I reckon that is exercising at level 10!

Wynken - brilliant that you are at your half way point and have lost over 3 stone - how good is that! Know exactly what you mean about other folk though - today someone described me as 'tiny wee' - kind of them, but somewhat inaccurate as my BMI is around 27/28! However today I have ordered some size 14 jeans which considering I was wearing size 20 (which were getting tight!) in November, is good progress!

Well done on your half pound NoWay...I'll be thrilled if I get a half pound this week [rueful look]

sparkle101 · 22/03/2011 10:33

Nowaynohow blimey, thank you for posting all of that, that is really helpful and stuff I hadn't considered either so that's really great thank you! I'm on 34 points so am thinking I am now on 33.

Thanks as well hmc will e-mail my leader and ask, meant to ask before I left but forgot! Size 14 jeans Envy you enjoy them now, you deserve them Envy Envy

hmc · 22/03/2011 10:45

Sparkle - you'll be in size 14's (and smaller) before you know it!

NoWayNoHow · 22/03/2011 11:07

sparkle you're welcome! Am ill and stuck at home and EXCEEDINGLY bored, so if anyone on here needs any internet research done, be it journey planners/price comparisons/train times, let me know!! Grin

Piffle · 22/03/2011 11:12

Think the weekend blowout is staying around :( serves me right, am doing extra walking to compensate and now trying not to use my activity PP
So on that note off to buy some butternut squash for 0 point soup!

mrskbpw · 22/03/2011 12:00

nowaynohow - yes please to veggie recipes. I'm an online member, so I'll be able to see everything.

Had a terrible day yesterday when I couldn't resist a cake sale at work. But am being stronger today and ignoring the leftovers!

Well done on the size 14 jeans hmc! x
