Oops forgot to add in my post-dinner Curly Wurly and cup of coffee with low-cal whitener - 4 pp.

HeyH0 · 30/03/2011 11:46

Another lurker de-cloaking. I've been doing WW online for 5 weeks and have shifted 5kg so far; but I've got five plus stone to shed, so decent losses are to be expected at this stage... I'm attempting a loosely low-GL approach too fit in with my veggie diet, but tossing in a pizza or takeaway a couple of times a week.

From a psychological point of view I'm enjoying counting points rather than calories, but now I've got a PP calculator & have a handle on how the points are allocated I'll be switching to a non-subscription route. (I forsee several spreadsheets & lots of graphs in my future). The next step is to up my activity levels. Hmm

Anyhoo, hello! :D

marmaladetwatkins · 30/03/2011 12:18

I am such a durr-brain...

"I'm guessing from the title of this thread that I'm not the only one?"

I mis-read the title as being "Our threads are expanding but so are our waists"

IT'S THE HUNGER.

Marmalade Your day doesn't sound that bad, My week so far has been -
Brekkie - Choc ready brek with semi-skimmed milk and a cup of tea 40g and 270ml - 7pp
Snack - apple and ww desert yogurt - 1pp
dinner varies - home made soup with ww pittax2 - 7pp, WW bagal with ww ham, philli and toms and 20g of walkers chrisps- 8pp, egg with lowfat mayo sandwich and walkers squares - 10pp
Snack - fatfree jelly and a banana - 0pp
Tea so far this week - chicken fangita's with sour cream and guac x 3 - 18pp, grilled pork chops with chips, n egg and pea's - 18pp, and tonight is fake nando's chicken, chips, garlic bread, coleslaw and garlic nando's sauce - 19pp

and so far this week I haven't been hungry in between although I have been drinking more water than normal about 2ltrs and a can of cokezero and a can of 7upfree.
Hope this gives you some idea's :)

marmaladetwatkins · 30/03/2011 12:37

I think I just need to manage my snacking better as my meals are OK, I think.

What is this fake Nando's of which you speak Wink

I have found a fab one pp pudding which is: sugar free jelly topped with 45g Bird's Dream Topping and a teaspoon sugar strands. Proper 3 year old pudding but bloody nice!

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 30/03/2011 12:47

Hooray, 2.5 lb loss despite the birthday meal! Back later...

Claireedee · 30/03/2011 12:59

OKay, am trying to get my head around this PP thing. I haven't done WW for about 8 years, and I used to be allowed 18pts a day - now I am allowed 39, so I guess it is a whole new calculation? Either that, or an enormous allowance for BF'ing?

BTW, anyone know how to tell it I am not BF'ing? I ticked BF+solids at start, but really don't think I need to be making allowances after 11 months. Can't see how to change it.

androbbob · 30/03/2011 13:33

blondes - no 'hangover' from drinking, more the 'hangover' left from a migraine. Feels just as bad though!

Been to the gym agin this lunchtime - a cheeky half hour then soup and a yoghurt for lunch washed down with a Pepsi Max! The soup was 3PP and was delicious!

Hello to all the newbies - dive in and post as often / little as you like! Those who have done old WW - ignore all you knew and restart learning ProPoints or PP as we call them here. Tracking is the key! It is also nice to name check if you can to give individual motivation to the gang - hard to do at first so dont worry if you miss anyone out!

Blondes is our unofficial leader and I am resident stats checker - usually post weekly how myuch the thread has lost! Will update tonight from last week and report back!

Namechecking later.....!

Piffle · 30/03/2011 14:47

Fab ShouldersBack!

CLB1 · 30/03/2011 15:02

marmalade I just make what I would normally eat at Nando's. so whole chicken marinaded with mango and lime, chips, garlic bread and coleslaw with garlic nando's sauce. Almost as good and i can control how much i put on my plate :)

vnmum · 30/03/2011 18:01

welcome, marmalade, clairee,heyho and missread

noway i know what you mean about the before pictures, i really had to hunt for one as i too used to avoid the camera.

well done wizzler, shoulders and anyone else i may have forgot

Does anyone use their activity points up first before dipping into the 49 and does it seem to effect the weight loss by doing it that way rather than using all 49 then using activity points? Do you find you use less of the weeklies if you use your activity ones first?

NoWayNoHow · 30/03/2011 18:05

marmalade when I actually went to WW classes, they did say they the way you use your 49 weeklies will depend on the type of person you are. If you're fine with the amount of dailies, but tend to need a blow out once or twice a week, then they can go towards that. However, some people need just to add 7 points every day to their dailies - maybe you're this type of person? I'm like you, though, I'm a rubbish snacker - I know I should be eating fruit ad veg etc to keep hunger at bay, but I'd far rather have a biscuit or a mint thin choccie!

HeyHo - hello, and congrats on your loss so far, that's fantastic! 5kgs is about 11lbs, right?

shoulders congrats on your loss too!

clairee are you about the same weight now as you were on the old points system? If so, then your dailies without top up for breastfeeding will more than likely be the minimum 29 PP. If you're happy to post your details on here (age, height, weight, etc) then I'm sure some lovely soul with a calculator could tell you what you'd be allowed?

androbbob sorry about migraine hangover, sounds naaaaaasty...

Had lunch at Debenhams today (thanks Mom - not really handy as not in EOG!). Went for honey roast winter veg soup which I've tracked as 9PP (got that from the value of 2 portions of New Covent Garden Winter Veg soup). Anyone know if I'm even remotely in the right ballpark? Sense I may have over-egged it, but I'd rather be safe than sorry, I guess.

NoWayNoHow · 30/03/2011 18:08

x-post vnmum!

My online tracker is set to using up daily activity PP before dipping into weeklies, but I know it can be changed so that activity PP are just added to weeklies. I always personally felt that if I didn't "use" the activity PP on the day, then it was sort of cheating as you'd be overeating the next day because of exercise you'd done another time, IYSWIM.

So, yes, on weeks that I've done exercise, I've used fewer weeklies as the tracker's taken from my activity pp first.

Piffle · 30/03/2011 18:54

I use my exercise PP first and save weeklies for dinner out or weekend beer, though I do try and increase activity if I'm planning a drink that night...
Today I have 28 weeklies left (all 21 used went on dinner out on Sunday)
Mon used 33pp activity pp 5 used 4
Tue used 33pp activity 4pp 0 left over
today used 30pp activity 5pp 4 left over

Piffle · 30/03/2011 19:04

am feeling bad as DH rang to say he is delayed at work and will not be home til gone 9pm...
I made casserole and hate the thought of eating late, but wanted to eat with DH... plus avoid having to cook two lots of veg etc
So I scoffed some of the kids chicken and chips Blush
Am not having potato with my casserole as punishment for my indiscretion...

vnmum · 30/03/2011 19:53

ok, so by using activity points first, do you find you eat less pp in total than if you used weeklies first but didn't use activity pp earned IYSWIM?

debs39 · 30/03/2011 20:04

debs thats not enough to live off!!!

OP posts:
debs39 · 30/03/2011 20:22

blondes....that is why I am cupboard surfing now....have no fridge / microwave / toaster or even flaming kettle at work...just a luke warm 'free vend' from the coffee machine......only few days a week to suffer it tho so other day sI do put fuel in the old boiler before 8pm!!!

NoWayNoHow · 30/03/2011 20:25

debs HAVE a toast-a-thon - by my calculations you could have 9 slices with nothing on them, and still have a PP left over!!

WW won't work if you starve yourself during the day, hun - it just won't. It's called an eating plan rather than a diet for a reason. It's sustainable, but if you don't give it a chance to prove itself, then you'll never know how well you can eat and still lose weight.

NoWayNoHow · 30/03/2011 20:30

x-post debs!!

If your work don't have any facilities, then you need to make a plan and take food with you that won't necessarily die a death during the day if not refrigerated. e.g. carrot sticks and celery would all be fine, as would dry Ryvita (1pp per slice). Hot cross buns (5pp for the Tesco Light Choices ones) would last fine as long as you wrapped them in some foil and didn't put anything on them. Handy snack biscuits like Garibaldis (1pp for one) would also work, and keep taking the Cup-a-Soup and fruit.

It's all incredibly uninspiring, but at least you're putting food into your body.

hmc · 30/03/2011 20:49

Well done on 2.5lbs off Shouldersback and any other losers I may have missed in my quick thread skim (also - canine weigh day result looks encouraging for you Piffle!)

JoJo I might not pop on here after this evening for the next couple of days as have lots on so just in case - happy anniversary for Friday

Keep up the training androbbob

Back from my WI and stats are:

Loss: 2.5lbs
Cumulative loss:41.5lbs (only 1/2 off 3 stone)
BMI: 27.4
All dailies eaten
All weeklies eaten
28 exercise points earnt and eaten, plus another 4 on top Blush
Tracking accuracy - 100% I reckon

Blondes don't shout (cowers). The secret - for me at least - is low carb and daily cardiovascular exercise 30-40 mins (apparently keeps metabolism primed)

hmc · 30/03/2011 20:57

OMG debs - how did you not faint!

Piffle · 30/03/2011 21:06

HMC that is fab, well done!
I think activity is key as well, I am walking so much and it is making the difference
