2011 Paul McKenna P3 - the march towards skinny jeans continues

Well the old thread was getting mordibly obese wasn't it? Grin

Welcome new people and people who've been here for a while, this is the definitive Paul McKenna support thread.

Whether you are dribbling over his Paulness or wibbling over pudding, we're here to listen, slightly mock you and tell you to step away from the scales.

The Paul Mckenna plan is not a diet but a way of teaching yourself to eat slowly and consciously and achieve the body you've always dreamed of.

There will be no diet foods on this thread, no starvation and no beating ourselves up because ^lifes' too bloody short to weigh a carrot and we'd far rather be doing something incredible instead!

I'm going to get hurt aren't I? :(

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 28/04/2011 00:04

But I'll lose weight! Grin

CheerfulYank · 28/04/2011 00:09

You won't necessarily get hurt! It could all work out fine. :) I think you've done well so far, saying that you're not going to get in the way and him saying that he needs to be single and settled.

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 28/04/2011 00:10

Cheers JuicyOlive!! good night! Grin

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 28/04/2011 00:12

Yes CY, I think that's important. I've got to be a grown up about it...mind you, he's very mature and I've seen him 'grow up' over the years which is nice.

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 28/04/2011 00:13

He said he got butterflies the other evening when he saw me (awww!).

CheerfulYank · 28/04/2011 03:02

Ooooohoooo Solo you cougar you! Sex-ay lay-dee! :o

ppeatfruit · 28/04/2011 09:37

Well solo GOOD fOR YOU!!! ARFUR How are you??? nice to hear from you Smile Positive It doesn't matter WHEN you feel hungry drink some water and if you're still hungry EAT!

onesandwichshort · 28/04/2011 10:04

I agree with everything ppfruit says! Hurrah for 14 stone and the cub.

and yes, chipstick, that's the point. There's no shouldn't any more - and I'm not surprised your hungry if you were out cycling. I went out cycling yesterday too, and was woken at 4am by my legs aching like I don't know what. It's hard work this fitness lark.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 28/04/2011 12:11

solo - how exciting! He sounds delicious lovely, and you are approaching it in exactly the right way I think Grin

PA - if you are hungry you should eat. I'm having trouble thinking 'oh I've eaten xyz how can I be hungry', but if I really genuinely am after drinking some water and waiting 5-10 mins then I am eating.

I am doing well so far today. I'm finding that I'm spending a lot less time thinking and obsessing about food - what I can eat, what I can't, what I'm going to have next etc etc. Which I'm finding means my brain has got a lot more time to think about the rest of my life and get all the boring stuff done quicker.
I'm trying to persuade DH to give the CD a go too - he could do with sorting his head out and learning to be kind to himself too.

ppeatfruit · 28/04/2011 12:12

Thanks onesandwich how's it going? remember P.M. says "no pain NO PAIN" i couldn't agree more i like dancing and pilates type exercise it works for me [csmile]!

DingDongMerrilyOutOfSeason · 28/04/2011 13:19

Hi all, am on day one! I like the ideas and have done well so far today but am not kidding myself that this is any sort of achievement, after all, it has been less than 12 hours... Want to listen to the CD later but am assuming it is the sort of thing for after DC are in bed to concentrate on. How long is it? Will put some time aside.

I haven't managed to do any of the exercises like the thumb pressing thing, there seems to be a lot. Can I introduce these a bit at a time or should I have started doing all the bits at the beginning?

Overwhelming but feeling really positive, I really want to change! How long before people started finding it second nature to eat whenever and stop when full? How does this work with eating together as a family? Will I ever be able to go out for a meal again? What about before exercies, when you know you should eat but you happen not to be hungry? Should you have a banana or something?

Sorry for all the questions, just want to get this one right!

BsshBossh · 28/04/2011 15:48

Hi DingDongMerrilyOutOfSeason!

Can I introduce these a bit at a time or should I have started doing all the bits at the beginning?
Well, in 8 weeks of doing this and losing weight I've listened to the CD only once, have not done any tapping or thumb tricks and only done one of the mirror exercises a couple of times. I've only followed the basic four principles so far (and read the book in full) but it's working for me.

How long before people started finding it second nature to eat whenever and stop when full?
About a couple of weeks, then it really clicked for me.

How does this work with eating together as a family? Will I ever be able to go out for a meal again?
We eat out as a family once a week and I either share a full meal with my toddler DD or else simply don't finish my plate - DH orders less for himself now as he knows he'll end up eating mine and we now always share dessert between the three of us. As for eating at home, well our meals last two or three days now, including leftovers for freezing and lunches so food costs have gone down quite a bit. Also I simply serve myself a small portion per meal and only if I need more do I get up and serve myself more.

What about before exercies, when you know you should eat but you happen not to be hungry? Should you have a banana or something?
I always have a banana and a small bit of cheese - whether before exercise or if I know I won't be able to eat for a long while. In this case, yes I eat even if not hungry.

Good luck and enjoy eating Smile.

way2serious · 28/04/2011 19:39

I am now coming to the end of Day 4 and prettyy much so far so good ( I think!) I am back work which means I don't eat as much during the day. I have listened to the CD every night although I fell asleep while listening last night. I haven't done any of the activities that the book suggests but have tried really hard to stick to the rules.

I have only eaten when hungry but have to make a really conscious effort to eat slowly as I do forget! I had chips for tea tonight as DS wanted them on the way home, but only had a small portion, ate them slowly and didn't eat them all. Smile I have also had some chocolate during the past few days. Not lots but it is nice to be on a diet and not have to give up the things I like.

I haven't drunk enough water today and am still trying to think about how I can get some exercise into my routine. I have also managed to stay off the scales for the past couple of days and am going to try hard not to weigh myself until this time next weeK!

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 28/04/2011 22:43

Thank you...wish me luck!

chipstick10 · 28/04/2011 23:12

I dont seem to leave anything on my plate, everyone seems to be doing so, where am i going wrong? Confused

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 28/04/2011 23:14

I really want to exercise, it is a bizarre sensation! I can only walk atm though, until I've had my 6 week check.

way2 - I really need to step away from the scales, I have weighed too often this week although not every day like I used to.

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 28/04/2011 23:48

I don't either chipstick.

PositiveAttitude · 29/04/2011 07:17

solo and Chipstick, I have been struggling with that, too. But I have been putting far less on my plate than I used to. It does say in the book to start by just leaving a bite size piece on your plate to start with if you find this difficult. I will try doing that from now on.

Solo We are going to need regular updates! Grin

Book arrived yesterday. I read a fair bit, but I haven't told anyone I am doing this, so I am having to read it in secret and now that the DCs aren't at school until Tuesday its going to be a bit difficult. The reason I havent said anything is because too often in the past I have tried and failed and then feel as if I have let DH down Sad. So I thought I would do it quietly and only mention it when he mentions to me that he thinks I have lost some weight. he certainly has an idea though as he has noticed that I am exercising more and that I have been leaving my pudding (which he swipes off my plate very quickly!! Grin)
Also, there is the issue of it being Paul mcKenna, as we are both against hypnosis, which is why I resisted this for so long, but I have been convinced that it has worked for so many people. I just don't like the idea of my subconscious being messed with, but in the book he says that its the diets that have messed with my subconscious and he is putting it right again, so that's reassuring!!
Street party this afternoon, I have been commandeered to provide a load of little cakes, so baking this morning. I hope I can keep this up when I am there and when the cakes come out of the oven!! Hmm

Sorry for ramble.... I am at work waiting for some printing to finish so that I an go home for the day!!

Have a good day everyone. Grin

BsshBossh · 29/04/2011 09:37

Chipstick I very rarely leave anything on my plate either as I always serve myself small portions to begin with. However, when eating out I do leave stuff as they always serve such big portions compared to what I'm now used to.

Niecie · 29/04/2011 10:05

Hello, can I join in? I have been dragged invited over here from another thread by Solo to follow the Paul McKenna way. I have all the books and the CD but not done much with them. Do bear with me though, whilst I immerse myself in his teachings, I have only had them 5 yrs. BlushGrin

Is there any protocol to follow? Weigh-in days, things we need to share regularly?

For the record I have much to lose (5st Blush) but it has been worse as I lost 2st last year which has stayed off. Since then I have been losing and regaining the same 1/2 stone - going down in the school term and up again in the holidays. What is that all about? Hmm

But no more. Got some old photos out last night - why didn't I recognise then that I didn't look half bad back then. I would like to look like that again. Plastic surgery and a face transplant is not an option for the wrinkles but the lumps and bumps have to go. I need help!!!!! Smile

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 29/04/2011 14:46

Yay!!! hello and welcome Niecie :) glad to see you've decided to look in here.

And I agree re looking back at old photo's :( my exh1 used to tell me I was fat at size 8-10. I had a fantastic figure that I could not see :( if only I'd really known.

There are lots of people here that have a lot of weight to lose, so you are not alone. As you know, my weight began with a need to lose at least 2 1/2 st and that is down now to needing to lose at least another stone, maybe 1 1/2. I am going to get there and so will you. The ladies on here have lost an amazing amount of weight ~ stones in a matter of two months some of them.

I'm really just cutting down, eating slowly and when I'm hungry. I do listen to the cd's, but not often enough atm.

*Really glad to see you here^

PositiveAttitude · 29/04/2011 14:47

Hi Niecie and welcome. I am a newbie here, too, just starting on the PM. I, too have lots to lose, so you are not alone.

I wont try to answer your questions as I am so new to it all and only learning what people are doing here, doesn't seem to be any weigh-in days though (unless I have missed them! Blush), but that is against what PM says about not weighing yourself.

blimey · 29/04/2011 16:54

hello all, I am a newbie on this thread who has been lurking a bit. I am very impressed by how well so many of you are doing!
I have been Pauling for 4-5 days, got 3 stone plus to lose.I have tried before and life quickly got in the way after a few days and I just sort of forgot. this time I know it could work, I just need to keep at it! I think the first few days are quite easy for me butI overdo it - get too hungry and then stuff my face. I am bloomin starving today and so am trying to stop being hungry without overeating to compensate - a new experience for me. Being really hungry can make me a bit panicky... I also find I get more irritable. . I guess I need not to let myself get really hungry.
I find it easier in the first half of my cycle to eat more healthily but the second half is a struggle - so am a bit worried about that too.
