2011 Paul McKenna P3 - the march towards skinny jeans continues

Well the old thread was getting mordibly obese wasn't it? Grin

Welcome new people and people who've been here for a while, this is the definitive Paul McKenna support thread.

Whether you are dribbling over his Paulness or wibbling over pudding, we're here to listen, slightly mock you and tell you to step away from the scales.

The Paul Mckenna plan is not a diet but a way of teaching yourself to eat slowly and consciously and achieve the body you've always dreamed of.

There will be no diet foods on this thread, no starvation and no beating ourselves up because ^lifes' too bloody short to weigh a carrot and we'd far rather be doing something incredible instead!

Slice open a banana, pop in a few squares of nice chocoate, wrap in foil & chuck on the BBQ. Delicious!

Can I come? Grin

JuicyOlive · 09/04/2011 00:29

Evening all.

Nora fab news about the shopping trip - I'm so pleased you were feeling so positive.

Howto - I like my bananas without choc, although I do generally add ice cream and a quick shot of something alcoholic (like brandy or baileys) Hmm

Not sure about this Juicy business though. Olive is my Pauling persona (I also post elsewhere with another name but use Olive here as some people know I am doing PM and I don't want to out myself all over MN iyswim). <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.virginmedia.com/images/on-the-buses-olive-290x400.jpg&imgrefurl=www.virginmedia.com/tvradio/cult-tv/trivia/60s-stars-where-are-they-now.php%3Fssid%3D19&usg=__wU6y86H8jNtKVUhBaHySm-ZrCTo=&h=400&w=290&sz=36&hl=en&start=0&sig2=lNkasGJvPYZp43TUYSSYVQ&zoom=1&tbnid=XriIQxMayNkMOM:&tbnh=170&tbnw=142&ei=rJmfTdfpGtDv4ga_ysShAw&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dolive%2Bfrom%2Bon%2Bthe%2Bbuses%2Bphotos%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX%26biw%3D1423%26bih%3D826%26tbm%3Disch%26prmd%3Divns&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=383&vpy=243&dur=157&hovh=264&hovw=191&tx=96&ty=105&oei=rJmfTdfpGtDv4ga_ysShAw&page=1&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:7,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> I know she's not the most positive of images but I'm kind of fond of the old girl now

JuicyOlive · 09/04/2011 00:30

I meant to Wink rather than Hmm there

TheChewyToffeeMum · 09/04/2011 08:25

Ohh shrinkingnora I too had a mini egg episode yesterday - they were yummy, I was hungry but I also ate about twice as much as I really needed.

I have finally found a solution to when to listen to the mp3 track. DH was watching Highlander last night Hmm and I was knitting. I plugged in my headphones, screened out the bad accents and zoned out on some meditative knitting. I am sure it had some effect as I slept really well last night (a lovely side effect of Pauling) and just enjoyed a lovely pancake, honey and fresh apple breakfast.

Anyway - the sun is shining, the forecast is warm. Yay, I love Springtime.

ppeatfruit · 09/04/2011 11:00

TheAmazingBellyExercise! 1. Lie flat on floor or bed. 2. keeping yr. head in line with spine gently raise up from hips. N.B.THIS IS NOT A SIT UP EX. 3. You will only rise a few cms ......

ppeatfruit · 09/04/2011 11:05

....cont. do this a couple of times twice a day and work up to placing yr arms above yr head. Also pull in yr belly when you remember during the day. i guarantee you'll feel and see a differenceSmile

ppeatfruit · 09/04/2011 11:12

When pulling in belly muscles during day count to 15 or so and hold for 5 (it's a bit like pelvic floor exercises no one knows yr. doing them!)Solo you've changed yr name!

lotSOLOvelyeggcellentchocolate · 09/04/2011 13:07

Oh yes pp, I do this when I go to supple and stretch ~ that's what's got me pulling in my crap previously fab tummy muscles again without thinking. The actual exercise is much tougher than it sounds too!

lotSOLOvelyeggcellentchocolate · 09/04/2011 13:08

Yes, it's my bid to win chocolate a prize! Blush good job I wont win though :(

ppeatfruit · 09/04/2011 17:48

Good luck with the comp. solo Smile Sounds a fun barbie shrinking! The belly ex. actually activates the fat burning (you can FEEL it!!). 'Tis a bit diff. at first but you don't have to push it.

Hello all

I've been lurking for a while and been Pauling for a couple of weeks. I started to feel different and feel good about myself in only a few short days. I was inspired and so optimistic about everything.

But this last week I've fallen off big style and slipped very quickly into my old bad habits again. DH took a photo of me today at the park with the kids and I cried when I looked at it because I can't help but think i'm so fat and very very ugly. So please can I join you. I really need a good kick up the bum support from all you lovely ladies Smile

CheerfulYank · 09/04/2011 19:34

Glad you're here! I'm sure you look just fine. I hate pictures too though...isn't that sad? There are all these photos of DS and DH hiking, at the park, at parties, etc, but hardly any of me because I can't stand them.

I've had a rough day (sick DH, stroppy DS, stupid, stupid, brother) and it's really hard for me not to eat because of it. But I'm not going to, I'm not hungry! Annnnd breaaathee.... :)

I need to make more time to listen to the CD every day.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 09/04/2011 20:34

Hey celestial, welcome :) Ive been pauling since 19th Feb, but have had a wobble in that time. It took me a few days to get back into it again, but I am sooo glad that I have! Please stick with it and get your groove back, it will be so worth it!

Sorry you have had a bad day CY :(

BellaCullen · 09/04/2011 21:15

Hello newbies Smile and .

Celestialstarlight I have been pauling for a couple of weeks too and completely fallen of the wagon,as had stress with kids and friends/family so been comfort eating.
But hopefully back in groove from today as tried on some summer trousers and nothing fitted so depressing and there was me hoping theyd be too big.<img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Sad" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/sad-q5SIe0Cq.png"> So listened to cd and when I took DD to a party only had about 3 cocktail sausages whereas before would have completely stuffed my faced so definitely progress. Also managed to find the other 4CDs on ebay for a bargain so cant wait to get them as really need the comfort eating one.
Still find it hard to visualise and my mind completely drifts off but will keep listening.

pp thanks for that exercise will definitely give that a go really want a flat tummy back and fit in my smaller clothes.
Looked at some old photos of me before I had dd and ds2 and was smaller to help me visualise so hope it will help in future.I look like a hefalump in comparision now,so try not to be in photos but do want to have photos of me and dcs to look back on too.

shrinkingnora · 10/04/2011 07:47

Barbecue was amazing - all the food turned out really nice. Didn't bother with the fish kebabs but did stuff the burgers with stilton. I definitely ate a bit too much largely because I was shitfaced on pimms and mojitos but actually found that I wanted loads of salad too and it was over a long period. I didn't have that sense off urgency that I had when doing slimming world eg every event was an excuse to try and eat everything I had been missing. I am definitely getting calmer around food.

Sorry you're having a tough time, CY, but well done for not eating on it. And don't worry if you did in the end because this way of life is all about forgiving yourself and moving on.

shrinkingnora · 10/04/2011 07:49

Pressed post too soon - Bella well done on the party food. I find that one of the hardest situations to stay in control in.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 10/04/2011 08:04

Well, my Kevin Laye book arrived yesterday, and Im glad I bought it! I managed to get it for 1p on Amazon Grin with just postage added, so major bargain. It said it was 2nd hand, but it was clearly brand new with an intact spine. The book only took about 2 hours to read in total (and that was with me stopping to try out all the exercises). It was basically just going over the same techniques he showed us at the seminar, with a few new ones too. I did the one for a good nighst sleep, and it bloody well worked! I have not had a good night sleep in ages and last night I slept soundly. Think I have been won over by NLP and TFT :)

It has a section on self sabotage and gives you a tapping technique for when you are struggling, which might be useful to any strugglers. Im going to do it every day to renew my resolve & determination.

I listened to the Exercise CD last nigt & the night before - up until now Ive only listened tothe secrets/mind programming & emotional eating CDs. Yesterday & today, I cant sit still for morethan 5 minutes!! How does everyoen else find that CD? I am up on a Sunday morning at 7am, happly making a pot pf pea & ham soup! I have been meaning to make it all week, but never bothered to do it. This morning I woke up & just got on with it, no thought process to it. Its fab Grin

shrinkingnora · 10/04/2011 08:17

I like that one too, howto. I have to be careful when I listen to it!

whomovedmychocolate · 10/04/2011 08:51

Hello all, I'm not back, I'm just popping in to wave. Mumsnet in general (except this thread) is not doing it for me anymore so I'm off doing other things. Glad to see so many newbies and also that you are all keeping on going. :)

ppeatfruit · 10/04/2011 09:20

dandy It depends on how hard you want to make the ex. i sometimes do it with arms by my side or straight above my head (in line with spine) or folded.howto the ex. also helps me sleep!!

ppeatfruit · 10/04/2011 09:35

Dandy You can 'hold' for a sec or 2 but i think it's actually the lifting that does the job!Welcome celestial and everyone who's 'slipped' P.M. says a DC doesn't talk immediately she practices!

JuicyOlive · 10/04/2011 11:40

Hello all. I am currently sitting in A&E with DD who has injured her toe on bouncy castle slide thing. Hope it's not broken for the hols. Current estimated wait time - 3 hours. Only 2 and a half to go... The problem is I'm getting hungry and starting to obsess about the Sunday lunch my mum is preparing! Can't see a vending machine!

JuicyOlive · 10/04/2011 11:42

Good to see you wmmc. Sorry to hear MN isn't doing it for you. Agree AIBU seems a bit crazy at the moment.

JuicyOlive · 10/04/2011 11:44

Do you think anyone will notice if I stick my headphones into iPhone and go into a Pauling trance?
