2011 Paul McKenna P3 - the march towards skinny jeans continues

Well the old thread was getting mordibly obese wasn't it? Grin

Welcome new people and people who've been here for a while, this is the definitive Paul McKenna support thread.

Whether you are dribbling over his Paulness or wibbling over pudding, we're here to listen, slightly mock you and tell you to step away from the scales.

The Paul Mckenna plan is not a diet but a way of teaching yourself to eat slowly and consciously and achieve the body you've always dreamed of.

There will be no diet foods on this thread, no starvation and no beating ourselves up because ^lifes' too bloody short to weigh a carrot and we'd far rather be doing something incredible instead!

of course y're right howto i had an 'off' day yesterday ( I blame the clocks going forward for my tiredness)! and not listening to P.M. cds for a while.

Tommy · 30/03/2011 10:41

HowToLookGoodGlaikit - I am trying to do it 100%! However, I don't listen often enough I know that. Completed the 90days journal the last time I tried (and did well but need to lose a bit more). I am writing down what I eat, how I felt, what I left etc.
My downfalls are 1. wine Blush - just love it but really trying to cut down - especially in the week as it just makes me eat cheese Blush

  1. I have to go out for a lot of meals, receptions etc with work and some people get offended if I don't eat more!! It's very hard explaining and I don't want to seem impolite. It also means that sometimes I go out thinking I'm going to be fed and I'm not so I'm starving by the time I get home and eat too much and too quickly

Although - these are just excuses really Blush I really need to listen to the CD every night

BsshBossh · 30/03/2011 19:39

Okay, I can't help posting this but I want to shout it from the rooftops: I was able to do up all the buttons of my Burberry coat today Grin. Now this is a big deal for me because a) It's bloody expensive and b) I've not been able to wear it buttoned up since... well 2 years really. Haven't weighed in since last Saturday so no idea whether I've lost this week but who cares - I can button up my Burberry - whoooop. Now I hope the weather stays chilly for a little while longer...

There's some other nice designer stuff waiting for me in my wardrobe that I haven't worn since I got pregnant with DD - I'm incredibly motivated now!

whomovedmychocolate · 30/03/2011 19:48

Hurrah for BsshBossh - well I can't even go to aikido tonight because I've injured myself (doh!) So I'm doing ironing

And my fecking leather jeans, which I have waited for YEARS to wear are too bloody big Angry

Anybody want a slightly used pair of black leather trousers - they are a big twelve. I have to have a belt on so tight they look silly - DH says 'ooh they are a big Clarkson now aren't they' [git] Hmm

OK, doing alright with the rules today and will definitely listen to Paul tonight in bed.

Mirror stuff is harder. I had felt a lot more positive about my self image after the seminar but we had a big family event a couple of weeks ago where I had to be included in group photos and I'm still reeling from seeing so many bloody unflattering photos of me. You don't normally see me in front of a camera as I feel I've really aged since I hit my forties. (I managed a three week holiday last year with just a couple of snaps with me in total). Need to focus more on this aspect. (And thank you for trying wmmc!).

BsshBossh · 30/03/2011 20:57

everlong, I never listen to the CD and I only follow the principles. I don't do the journal but I do try the mirror exercise every so often. I've lost weight. But that's not to say you wouldn't need to CD. It may be different for you. Try it without the CD for a week and if you're struggling then get the CD.

I never would have thought you were in your forties Olive. :)

I've met you my dear and you are frankly gorgeous. Yes you have weight to lose but you have a fantastic face and hair and the rest will come. Besides which if you don't have photos taken now, who will believe you were ever overweight in ten years time?

Thought Id post this for any lurkers who are thinking about joining ... a seller on ebay selling the book & CD for only £2.70 - no postage!

here

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 31/03/2011 07:47

Everlong - I feel that I cant do it without the CD :( It really does keep me going, I personally need the NLP for it to work.

3ismylot · 31/03/2011 08:10

Hi all Smile

Everlong I used the cd for the first 5 days and havent used it for the last 5 but its good to know its there if I need it.

Bssh Woohoo on the coat Grin its always great when things fit again.

Waves to everyone else

Well its day 10 here and things are going really well Grin I know its early days but I really seem to have lost my obsession with food (for now at least)
I was at the point where I couldnt have anything "bad" in the house as I would stuff it all in a binge Blush but over the last 10 days I have been buying things I fancy and now have in the cupboards crisps, biscuits, hot cross buns, chocolate and numerous sweets for the kids and I feel no need to stuff on them but help myself if I really fancy something and am hungry, I then really enjoy it without feeling guilty Grin

I also thought I was addicted to chocolate so bought 4 bars of dairy milk and 4 bars of cadburys caramel at the start and they are still sat in the fridge as I havent fancied them once Shock its weird when you actually start listening to your body that your tastes are a lot different to what you think they are!!

Did day 2 of couch to 5k yesterday and really enjoyed it despite thinking for years that I couldnt run lol
My race for life pack came yesterday too so thats my incentive to keep it up and the visualisation of finishing the race is great for motivation Grin

MissVerinder · 31/03/2011 11:13

3ismylot I'm the same with chocolate! And cake! It's kind of weird isn't it? I officially started yesterday with weighing in (12st4 at 5'3" gives me a 30.5 BMI) and actually got to listen to the CD. Granted, it was a 1.30 this morning when I transferred to the spare bed (DP snores) and I'm sure I dropped off within th first five minutes, but I woke up this morning feeling really confident! I'm not usually lacking in that area, but I really did feel it more this morning. I am soooooo optimistic right now, I'm really feeling it. I just know that this is going to work for me. I'm going to brush up on my excercises (NLP) tonight and try and listen to the CD whilst I'm conscious!

After my 2 week weigh in, I'm going to try and kick my Coke (diet) habit...

onesandwichshort · 31/03/2011 11:44

Hello everyone, sorry have been a bit busy recently but will try and check in a bit more regularly. It keeps me on the straight and narrow hearing all the inspiring tales about coats fitting and so on.

My main observation is that I have tried to chew everything 20 times (sometimes) but am struggling with mashed potato Grin. I've been really tired this last week, and so have been snacking a bit when cooking dd's tea (really that 5pm bit of the day is the worst). But nothing too bad. And I did eat some crisps, but I was hungry...

BsshBossh · 31/03/2011 11:56

onesandwichshort, regarding mash potatoes (in fact anything mushy/soft), could you not try and keep it in your mouth for 20 seconds - so, not "chewing" it as the stuff is difficult to chew, obviously, but keep it in your mouth really tasting it (or is that too gross!?!). Otherwise take in a much smaller mouthful on your spoon - say a teaspoon size of mash each time?

LizinFrance · 31/03/2011 12:07

Hi everyone,

Have been 'lurking' for while here, but going to take the plunge! Can I join you please? Quick intro I guess - live in France, 4 children, need to lose a stone for each of them! Have got the book, CDs and journal, so ............any tips please?

Many thanks. A quick whiz through this thread and there are some great weight losses! Well done everyone - a brilliant inspiration!

Liz

BsshBossh · 31/03/2011 12:13

Hi Liz Smile. Tips? Well, it's simple really - you start listening to the 30 min CD and you start abiding by the four key principles. I find printing the principles out and putting them in my kitchen where I can see them very helpful Grin.

LizinFrance · 31/03/2011 12:52

Thanks for that. Just listened to the CD and fell asleep almost immediately! Is that OK?

Liz

NicknameTaken · 31/03/2011 15:33

Disappeared because I couldn't stop eating in front of computer/television/book. Why do I get so bored when I actually have to think about what I'm eating? But I'm coming back into the fold. Will listen to the CDs again and try to focus!

whomovedmychocolate · 31/03/2011 16:33

LizinFrance - yes that's fine if you fell asleep straight away, most people do. I don't but then I think it's because I'm probably analysing every word and could now recite all five CDs verbatim Wink

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 31/03/2011 19:03

MissVerinder - Paul totally cured my diet coke habit! I wasnt even planning on giving up, it just happened Grin I used to drink 4/5 cans a day, sometimes more. Now I have a can of caffeine free about once a week!

rookiemater · 31/03/2011 20:18

So whomovedmychocolate do you think the message goes in if you fall asleep? I have had a fluey thing the last few days so I have conked out during it, and then other times I have been listening at night and fall fast asleep. I am SOO tempted to weigh myself today, I got the book and CD last Friday, but must not for another week.
I find myself eating less carbs which is great I can make it through the day without a slump and without feeling as tired.

mummyosaurus · 31/03/2011 20:56

Nicknametaken - me too, really struggling with not eating with laptop or tv.

My latest plan is to drink (tea, hot choc etc) and have a few boiled sweets.

Once I have mastered that for a few weeks I will try and cut out the sweets, as it is not really addressing the problem I know.

In the evenings I am better once I have cleaned my teeth, so I may use that in my final strategy...

BellaCullen · 31/03/2011 21:03

Welcome to newbies, have only started with this last week and this thread is a great help.
Finally managed to listen to CD this afternoon and made me very sleepy but still managed to stay awake.Didnt feel much different after so will see how it goes.Have been finding it much harder to stick to it than last week specially when Im bored, then I tend to want to grab something even though know that am not hungry.Tiredness is another problem as don`t get a full night sleep as ds2 still bf during the night. So then am too tired to excercise and just want to chill in front of TV.It all goes in roundabouts really.Weather has been so miserable so not helping either.Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day Smile.

Hurrah for BsshBossh and wmmc you are great inspiration to try harder with this and shows that it does work as long as you follow the golden rules. Grin.

Definitely ate too much tonight as feeling bloated but DP cooked and plated up on big plate and over ate a bit.Its also so hard to eat conciously when youve got 3 kids shouting about and trying to sing/talk to you.will have to eat on my own again tomorrow as much easier.

xx
