STOP!

bloomingnora · 25/02/2011 14:32

You must stop being so fricking mean to yourself!

Mor ein a minute hang on.

bloomingnora · 25/02/2011 14:39

Don't look in the mirror for a bit. Take some pressure off yourself. I really struggled with it too. It doesn't happen all at once - I feel happier, more enmergetic and can smile at myself in the mirror and am, in control around food. WEEKS after staring. And definitely not all of these things at once.

Can you find anytime to do the CDs in the day? eg set alarm 25 mins earlier? And maybe start with eating consciously at your next meal and see what follows on from that? Take it one tint step at a time. Are you genuinely eating exactly what you want?

You are trying to change deeply ingrained habits, you are not pathetic! It is impossible to 'fuck this up' as you can only do your best. If this is your best at the moment, accept it and move on.

What would you say to a friend who was thinking like this? Or if someone else on this thread posted what you have just done? What advice would you give?

I am really sorry but I have to go out in a sec but please be kind to yourself. Go and have a cup of tea and have a think about what you want from this. I'll be back later and hopefully WMMC will see this and be there with good advice. She has been very helpful to me. Read the end of the last thread and see! I did not get any of it right straight away Smile

bloomingnora · 25/02/2011 14:40

Christsake, shite typing but you get my drift! Obviously starting not staring....

blinder · 25/02/2011 15:35

Itsonlyajob I have felt like that too. Take a deep breath and relax about it. It sounds like you are trying too hard.

This will end up as learning something important that will help you to lose weight.

Go back to basics and the four golden rules. Which of those is causing the most trouble for you?

whomovedmychocolate · 25/02/2011 17:50

Itsonly how long have you been overweight? Is it all your life? It's fucking hard to rewrite at least twenty years of bad eating overnight. Your old habits (including the self loathing one) will try and assert themselves again and you are panicking.

Let's start from the beginning - you say you don't understand the CDs. Is it that you are unsure which one to use?

You are not pathetic - you are daring to challenge the way you have been brought up to eat and the very things that have provided comfort to you because you know deep down that it's going to make you thinner, healthier and happier long term.

Next time you look in the mirror, even if you don't like what you see, realise this - this body you are looking at it is the one you are starting from and it is the body that you will work with to get it to the shape you want so you are going to have to accept that it's the way it is FOR NOW - not for ever just for now.

I know it probably seems like everyone else is breezing through this and you are the only one having a hard time but you are not alone, we've all struggled to a greater or lesser degree and we want to help, if we can. :)

Hello everyone, can I join you?

I have been inspired to really try this having found this thread. I bought the book several years ago but didn't really think it would work, was a bit Hmm. However I have continued to gain weight having tried WW, SW, calorie counting etc. I lose weight but after a time I rebel against the restrictions & end up gaining it back + a bit extra Blush.

I have a massive amount to lose (about 8 stone) and I really have to lose it, I can't keep hiding behind it & I don't want to turn 30 still like this, I have to make some changes.

So I've bought the new book & have been trying to follow the rules for the last couple of days. But yesterday I had a revelation, I decided to try the tapping craving buster. So i sat with my wispa bar, had a bite & tried to work out what number my craving was. Was struggling to put a number to it & thought this isn't going to work, sod it I'll eat the wispa!!! Had another bite & thought hang on I really want the chocolate - so about a 9. Did the tapping thing, still wanted the wispa, so did it again, kinda fancied the chocolate, did it a 3rd time & didn't want the wispa anymore. I put it away in the cupboard, totally unheard of for me, I've never been able to leave a chocolate bar for more than a few minutes (unless its huge). I haven't even finished it today, I've had another couple of bites but there's still about a quarter left. This is an utter revelation to me.

I'm really hoping that I can get the hang of this and really change the way I eat & view food, just have to figure out how to actually tell when I'm hungry & when I'm full.

Sorry this was soo long but it feels good to share :) Thanks for reading & providing lots of inspiration.

bloomingnora · 25/02/2011 19:14

Wow pink! That is brilliant. Telling when you are hungry etc all comes with practice. Anyway, welcome and keep sharing your revelations, because it is lovely and inspiring to hear!

I just ate one mouthful of cake and then realised I didn't want it Grin

JuicyOlive · 25/02/2011 19:18

hello pinkcupcakefairy - another one with a food related name - how obsessed are we all on here?

I also have a massive amount to lose as have some of the others on this thread so you're not alone. (Although not wwmc, she'll be leaving us soon when she hits her goal the gorgeous minx Wink).

I recently managed to make a bar of dark choc last for about 10 days. It's great isn't it.

Don't worry if you are a bit Hmm about the whole thing. As Paul says (if nora can be on first name terms, so can I!), what have you got to lose by just flipping following the system for a couple of weeks.

JuicyOlive · 25/02/2011 19:21

ursula - don't go. We like having you here!

JuicyOlive · 25/02/2011 19:23

Glad to hear your mum is still with the programme wmmc. Send a hug from me too.

whomovedmychocolate · 25/02/2011 19:37

Welcome pinkcupcakefairy - you are among friends here :)

It's great that you are giving up all those short term diets which don't work and onto something that does.

And JuicyOlive I shall never leave you. Though I might send you my size 14 jeans which now fall down because you'll need them soon Wink Thank you for the hugs for my DM, will pass them on when I speak to her. She was really surprised how friendly you all were (I suspect she's ready about us all being a nest of vipers in the Guardian Wink)

I got on my size 10 trousers today. They are too tight and don't look right yet but they do up and go over my bum. Grin

bloomingnora · 25/02/2011 19:42

WMMC - that must feel fantastic! Envy

JuicyOlive · 25/02/2011 19:45

Some way to go before needing a size 14. Shit - I've just realised that I last wore a size 14 over 25 years ago. I was an 18 (and wearing a black Italian-grandmother style dress) back in the days when PM insulted me in his stage show back in the early '90s.

This could be an interesting journey.....

Congratulations on the size 10 trousers!

whomovedmychocolate · 25/02/2011 19:49

I'm going to need to go shopping Grin

I should probably keep one big pair of trousers so I can hold them up slimming magazine stylee while yelling 'I lost forty pounds by just eating when I was hungry PUT DOWN THE SLIMFAST' in six months time. Grin

whomovedmychocolate · 25/02/2011 19:52

JuicyOlive 25 years ago you were what ten? Confused

Have you forgiven PM yet BTW? I think we've all been idiots in our early careers. I know I was anyway. :)

JuicyOlive · 25/02/2011 19:58

Hold a grudge for nearly 20 years, moi?

Yes, he had the grace to apologise and invite me to the seminar on the webchat, so forgiven. If this works as well as I hope, he'll be my new bezzie mate. And anyway it partly was my own bloody fault for getting up on that stage.

Nice try on the age thing but fooling nobody. Smile

whomovedmychocolate · 25/02/2011 20:00

Gosh I barely hold a grudge for as long as it takes for me to stomp off. I'm impressed Wink

VJay · 25/02/2011 20:11

This thread is so inspirational Smile.

I have popped on a couple of times. I was doing quite well and have lost 9 lbs since the new year but haven't lost anything in the last 2 weeks. I haven't listened to the cd yet and I plan to start that tonight. I will try and keep up with this thread more as I find it helps.
I have 2 stone to lose now.

Well done WWMC, size 10 is fab, a size 12 is my ultimate goal, it's been a loooong time sine I was there Grin

Thanks Smile xx

franch · 25/02/2011 20:24

I love the stories about the half-eaten chocolate bars and cakes! Keep em coming! I aspire to being able to do that!

VJay · 25/02/2011 20:34

Me too franch
