Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy

Well done that's a great loss! I have done it 5 days a week, then one day pilates class and one day no exercise at all. I found level 1 everything ached for first few days, but then was fine, level 2 is a killer on arms/shoulders but again no aches after first few days and level 3 is hard on the thighs but then again they deserve it really. I started seeing the difference in my arms about half way through level 2, there is definite muscle definition now. Hopefully you'll see results quickly as you've done so well already on weight loss.

Just nipping in here- read through this thread and felt inspired by you all to do the shred, just finished level one day 9- when will my body start to change?? Grin I'm impatient!

Can't believe how much my fitness levels have changed in 9 days though, on day 1 I was using 1 kg weights and could not do it, today I used 3kg and went along with natalie Smile

notyummy · 22/03/2011 15:58

Claire - I like your idea of repeating doing the harder moves. Perhaps more weight? The BFBM is good for cardio - although some sections are easier than others. I would do it through, work out which 5 sections are the toughest and do them in your 30 mins! Interestingly, I found her 'kickboxing' ones pretty easy, despite the fact that whenever I have done 'proper' boxercise (although that was with the military..) I nearly died.

DontCallMeBaby · 22/03/2011 23:09

Hello - I haven't been around for ages. Well, not here, I've been around generally. Aha, my cat has allowed me to type properly (he was sitting on my forearms)!

I think I've kind of finished the Shred now - I've done 10 days of Level 3 anyway. I had a bit of a slack week the week before last cos DH was away and there was no time to do anything much (managed to run IN DAYLIGHT while DD was at Rainbows, and swim while a neighbour looked after DD) but trying to get back to the exercise now. I feel like the break from the Shred has disillusioned me a bit, if it had been half way through it would have been different, but so close to the end I feel a bit 'done with that now'. I don't know what to do next ...

However, the good news is - following 4.5 months of Slimming World, a further 2 months of keeping a less formal eye on what I eat, some Wii Fit, 6 months of weekly swimming lessons, 2.5 months of Jillian, 4 months of (somewhat occasional) running ... I had a wellbeing check at work, and passed with flying colours! BMI in the health range, properly tested body fat in the healthy range, muscle mass in the HIGH range (thank you Ms Michaels!), blood pressure, heartrate, cholesterol, blood sugar, triglycerides all where they should be. Waist measurement was 1cm above the maximum, but the chap DID measure me over my (Boden, lol) jumper!

I'm really delighted and want to boast about it (I haven't a baseline unfortunately, but I am two stone lighter than when I started) but it sounds a bit smug ... but it's not 'yay, I'm healthy', it's 'yay, I DID this!' I thought if anyone would understand, it'd be you lot. :)

flatmouse · 23/03/2011 00:49

Fantastic dontcallmebaby well done [fanfare] :)

febes · 23/03/2011 01:28

Ohhhhhh just got my BFBM dvd from amazon!! Exciting. I think I'll finish my last 5 days of shred and then crack on!

conquita · 23/03/2011 06:49

Dontcallmebaby - that is FANTASTIC! Grin

notyummy · 23/03/2011 07:49

Dontcallmebaby - that is amazing! You must be so much healthier....and at the risk of sounding pompous, what a great role model for your DD. Great news.

Eyeslikeraisins · 23/03/2011 08:57

Thank you girls for welcome.
Maybe from somewhere I will summon the willpower to lowcarb before wedding. Did pig to twig last year just before I got preg with DD2 and lost about a stone. But maybe in conjunction with the shred it'll be super effective?

Congratulations on body transformation Dontcallmebaby. Very inspiring but bloody hard work on the sound of things.
Must dash and get DD1 to playschool.

ClaireDeLoon · 23/03/2011 09:46

Dontcallmebaby you are fantastic - well done!

knottyhair · 23/03/2011 09:58

Dontcallmebaby, amazing stuff! Smile

YouCantTeuchThis · 23/03/2011 10:35

Ladies - if all else fails, try this Grin

I haven't got back on the shredding wagon yet...I have been unwell and then mega-busy! Must do it soon, or I will lose all motivation!!

ClaireDeLoon · 23/03/2011 10:51

YCTT very funny - loved the excerpt!

londonlottie, I still Shred a couple of times a week at least, a mix of levels so I don't get bored, and also have just started doing her Banish Fat Boost Metabolism (once so far, plan to do it once a week), and her 6 Week 6 Pack - both are good! Also just got Billy Blank's Tae Bo Ultimate Collection which I did for the first time this morning -did the Abs & Glutes one, tough going! And I've got all of Davina's which I do one of each week roughly. I do like a workout DVD Grin! And having a big selection means I don't get bored, and manage to do something most days. I'm not one for the gym or running so this suits me.

BalloonSlayer · 23/03/2011 11:48

Dontcallmebaby that's wonderful!

I have almost, but not quite, shredded the last two days.

Did Level 3 yesterday but the DCs had left greasy finger marks on it again and it jumped a lot so I did a lot less than I should Grin

Gave it a hurrr and a wipe today and was fine but half way through the cardio on Level 3 my mobile rang (no one ever rings me on it except in an emergency) so I panicked a bit. I tried to pause the DVD, but I watch it on DS1's playstation and I never know which button to press. So when I got back it had gone to the cooldown. So hey- I cooled down Grin

Oh well it's better than nothing...

Zeeky · 23/03/2011 15:40

I hate hate hate level 2!!! Day 4 of it today. All those planks are killing me! But [drumroll] I did manage to do the plank jacks properly today instead of the Anita version, so maybe it is making me fitter ;)

looking forward to level3, as a few people have mentioned that they prefer it to level2. But we're away on hols next week so won't be getting any shredding done, so it will be a while yet before I can move on.

Considering doing a bit of Dukan diet or South Beach diet to try and shift a few pounds quickly. I've been generally eating healthily & cut portion sizes but not losing anything since the initial few pounds weeks ago. I'm hoping it will speed up the loss of my muffin top which has started to recede since shredding. Need to get rid of it so that I can go shopping for my brother's wedding in July.

DontCallMeBaby · 23/03/2011 18:53

:)

I seem to have ordered BFBM. I've got a proper trial session at the gym I think I want to join next week - looking forward to that.

Diet-wise, I reckon if you CAN go low-carb pig-to-twig looks good (I bought the Nerys and India book on Kindle to read the psychological side of eating stuff, very interesting, but I think low-carb would kill me).

knottyhair · 24/03/2011 10:10

Morning. Just did Level 2 - still definitely prefer Level 3, but it wasn't as bad as I remembered, apart from continuing to hate the leg raises/v raise combo! Those oblique plank twist things at the end, I still don't think I can be doing them properly as I don't find them very hard (and my abs are NOT good Smile). I'm trying to twist my hips as well as recommended previously but still not that difficult. Any ideas?

I need some help to keep me motivated!

I did 30DS in 31 days and saw fab changes -12" in three weeks. Then I fannied around doing 2 days or so of each level for about 2 weeks. Then I bought 6W6P and I just did L1 D5 today. My weight is slowly going down ~1lb per week which is fine and dandy.

I am not dieting as such but my diet is fairly good (no alcohol, not heavy on carbs, maybe 1 cake per week no biscuits, crisps etc. Plenty of veg) and I don't want to 'go on a diet' as it all needs to be balanced in the long term anyway. I am not a veggie but I don't eat much protein though. I am trying to address this since I noticed last week.

BUT I want to see further changes with the tape measure. Nothing much has changed since the first inch loss in the first three weeks. What am I doing wrong? What do i need to do? Do I need to do extra cardio to shift the blubber (in order to show off the muscles i have grown)?

Help me stick with it, please?

JelliBelli · 24/03/2011 15:13

Oh! Perhaps I should add (reveal Shock) that i am 5'1 and now weigh 9st 10 and have a BMI of 25.4.

Thanks

jcb69 · 24/03/2011 19:47

JelliBelli,
Having lost so much to start with, losing a pound a week is still great. Presumably you intend to keep the exercise up, and along with general healthy eating, you will continue to lose weight and keep it off. Remember, 1lb a week..............that's half a stone gone before June. A full stone by August. I'd be pleased with that!
Some extra cardio is a good idea though - if only to mix things up a bit. I try to run 5 times a week, and most days after that I do a Shred. Think I might get 6W6P as well.
Keep at it. You're doing really well.

Hello all,

I'm new to this shredding business but having read lots of good reviews and success stories I thought it was about time I got off the sofa and got my bum kicked by Jillian.

I did day 1 level 1 last night and CANNOT MOVE today! Tell me this is normal!! I managed to do everything but did have to drop down to lighter weights (from 2.3kg to 1.1kg) for the second set of squat and push and side lunges because I thought my arms were going to fall off.

Having had a read through some of this thread it seems like taking my measurements at the start would be a good plan, so I think I may do that when I get home tonight. I don't have a lot of weight to lose (5'10, 9st 13 - would love to be back at 9st 6 by the summer) but really want to look good in a bikini this summer with a nice toned tummy!

Am slightly worried about doing day 2 tonight as I have been hobbling around this morning - stairs and sitting down are a killer - but think I need to just get it done and feel that god awful burn!

BalloonSlayer · 25/03/2011 12:53

Hi CherryDrops

Yes it's normal. Grin

You'll feel better in a few days, I promise. You'll even feel temporarily better after doing it again today.

Another good idea is to take a photo. I really wish I had done. I haven't lost any weight but my tummy looks much better . . . I SO wish I had a "before" photo to compare myself with.

(Off to Shred in 25 mins when my lunch has gone down. Groan.)
