ive just come back from my indian - was yummy but have come home to check what pp i ate and the bloody eating out guide doesnt have what i ate in it - grrrrrrrrrrrr

tbh this eating out guide has far less foods in it then the last one - a lot of my fav chinese foods arent on it :(

anyone know what i scoffed is please?

chicken murgh bemisal
1/2 coconut rice
garlic naan

i stayed away from my usual creamy passandra and chose what i hope is healthier - it was tomato and onion sauce

thanks - prob ate all of my 49pp - tho i have 17 left from today as pratically starved myself and only had weetabix and ham sandwich and TONS of fruit

LuckyLight · 08/01/2011 23:05

littlefish PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't worry. androbbob and furball have given great advice already that I would second.

My advice would be to CHILL OUT, first of all....and then, take a deep breath, draw a line under it, and start again tomorrow. I had a bad couple of days this week, I know I went over even my weekly (49) pts. Previously I would have been my 'all or nothing' self and decided to blow the res of the week, but I don't want to do that anymore, so I got back on track again, and I can honestly say that mentally I feel SO much better, and I think you will too. You sound very panicky in your post, cos you think you are losing control again. Take control, be positive, I guarentee that after even one day of being back on track you will feel a lot more positive.

I agree about the carbs too, I try not to eat too many starchy carbs. I rarely eat bread (which I love!). We always have wholegrain rice or pasta, weigh out portions, a 'serving' is suprisingly small, what I used to eat is probably about 120g!! I now weigh out about 50g.
I read once how eating starchy carby food makes your body retain fluid, so if you gain weight, it's more than likely just fluid retention. Hence, some of us gained over Christmas from the indulgence, but are losing it again quickly.

Let us know how you are feeling tomorrow. Be positive. As the others said, any loss over the Christmas period is admirable!

Wizzler how are you pointing your homemade spagbol? I made ours 10 pts with 50g of pasta?
All the veg is free, passata is free (don't use dolmio, prob full of sugar), so you're only really pointing the mince?? Buy extra lean?

Oh Norma.....where are yoooouuuuuuu????!!!!!

NormaSknockers · 09/01/2011 11:08

My goodness, I knew I would have missed a bit but two entire pages?! Shock

Sorry I haven't been about, been a rather busy (but good) few days - how are we all? Who's has losses? Who's panicing?

Ok, so anyone who's had a blip, anyone who's had a crap couple of days you are not alone. My week started out well but then it all fell apart yesterday. I had a lovely day out with DH and whilst I'd saved my weekly points and had planned what to eat we were having such a lovely time that I just decided to kick back and enjoy it. So one big meal, a trip to Starbucks, treats at the cinema and chocolate for a cuppa in the eving later it's safe to say I have used all my weekly points and then some Wink Of course I now feel silly for eating so much and for not tracking but I cannot change it. I shall go for a run tonight and when WI comes tomorrow, I will take the gain on the chin and do better next week.

It's ok to slip up from time to time, it's ok to have a bad couple of days. We are only human, we all give in once and while and that doesn't make us bad, or naughty. It doesn't mean we can't do it and we should give up. It means we made a mistake, we'll learn something from it and next time won't be so bad. It's all about getting the balance right and saying 'Ok, I slipped up. This weeks weigh in won't be great but I'll get back on track and next week will be better'.

:)

Nice to hear from you Norma. Also nice to see that even the strong have bad days Smile. You might be suprised at your weigh in!

Littlefish · 09/01/2011 16:19

Ladies - thank you all so much for your support last night. I was in the middle of a blind panic, and just couldn't find the way out of it. Your sensible words were just what I needed.

Looking at it now I can see that I was scared by the feeling of being possibly out of control of my eating again. I've loved being able to make positive choices about food and was really scared that I had started on the slippery slope again.

As you suggested, I've tracked really carefully today (whilst eating lots of good and filling foods) and feel much, much better.

I need to think a bit about the feelings I had of needing to please other people with my weight loss. This weight loss is about me!

Norma - your day out sounds lovely.

Lucky - I went swimming today, and tried just walking up and down the pool. I also did a few lengths using just my arms to try and work them a bit. Does that sound ok?

Blondes and androbbob - I know you're right about not having sneaky weigh-ins. I'm a bit obsessed with the scales at the moment. Perhaps I should put them up in the attic for a few weeks and try and wean myself off them.

Furball · 09/01/2011 16:24

littlefish - Phew!

Do put your scales in the attic though - it'll be a workout going up all them stairs of yours! Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2011 16:31

littlefish glad you are feeling happier about yourself today

you are doing very well and def take scales to attic Grin

norma good luck with WI tom :)

can anyone help with my blow out curry last night and what pp it was?

thanks

androbbob · 09/01/2011 16:31

Furball - my thoughts exactly about scales in the attic!

LuckyLight · 09/01/2011 18:18

littlefish so lovely to hear you sounding more positive today. Well done on a complete turn-around! You are doing so well, keep strong and remember how good you feel pyschologically when you stick to it, aswell as physically. Remind yourself that you are making healthy choices and that this is all a means to a magnificent end. You will be so proud of yourself when you get there.
What is your goal weight and how far away are you from it? Maybe set yourself some mini goals.
The swimming/walking sounds great. If your knee feels OK tomorrow after doing that, you know you can push yourself a little bit more next time. Or even venture into the gym Smile.

We had a wonderful afternoon, very sunny but cold here. DD1 decided she would like to cycle to the park. We put DD2 on DH's bike (on child seat!) and all cycled to the park. It's not far at all, DD1 is only 4 yrs old. We had a great (but cold) time, and although I can't really class it as exercise as such (I'm a very keen cyclist and a normal ride for me would be 25-30 miles, fast, so 1 mile at a 4 yr olds pace not really doing much for me!!) it felt great to be out in the fresh air!

Just had another nice tea, very healthy. Wholegrain rice and salmon, with lemon and dill. Very quick, easy, yummy, and about 10 pps. Just what I like!! (and the kids love it too!).

LuckyLight · 09/01/2011 18:19

erm, also I would like to confess that....
"my name is lucky and I am addicted to weighing myself"....
I too should be hiding my scales. I'm obsessed. I know this is very unhealthy, but I can't stop myself. May have to get DH to hide scales from one week to next.

wizzler · 09/01/2011 18:24

Thanks Luckylight. I calculated my spag bol as 8 for the mince, and 5 for the pasta, which was a miserably small portion!. Need to get adjusted to having a lot less carbs.
Blondes, accoding to my little book a plain nan is 11 pps Shock.. can't imagine a garlic one would be any less!

Littlefish · 09/01/2011 18:36

wizzler - I'm used to having big carb portions as well. The ones they suggest really are measly, aren't they!

TartyMcFarty · 09/01/2011 19:18

Hi ladies, can anyone here help me please? I've started pro-pointing having already lost half the weight on the old system, but I'm doing it at home, just using the points books and the calculator.

However I don't know what activity points I can earn (I wouldn't use them, it just motivates me to exercise). There are other Qs but I can't think what they are at the mo Confused

collision · 09/01/2011 19:42

I went back to WW last week and hadnt been for 4 weeks. I put on 4lbs which wasnt too terrible

Am back with a vengeance now and really want to lose 1 and a half stone by August.

I have already lost 22lb and I need to keep going.

Had 150g cooked spaghetti with fat free tomato sauce with bacon tonight which is about 6pts plus salad which is free.

Had borlotti bean soup for lunch plus fruit which was about 6 pts too.

Can have a crunchie tonight if I want to!!

vnmum · 09/01/2011 20:04

Hi everyone.

I have been having a good week so far. I have earned 12 activity points since thursday and did a sneak peak this morning and have lost the 2lb i had gained at WI. I have been bad with the shredding though. I didn't do anything on friday as ran out of time but thought it could be a rest day for my muscles. Did shred and a run yesterday and should have been shredding at least today but we have been sorting out the garage and packing a few bits ready for the move so again i ran out of time. I can't exercise at night either as it keeps me awake.

We went shopping to tesco today and some of their chilled healthy living ready meals have the propoints on the pack, they are also £1 each so are their frozen ones and WW frozen ready meals are £1 each there aswell. DH has got a ready meal for every lunch now to take to work, they are about 10pp each but he has enough points a day to have them.

I also found some absolutely gorgeous WW frozen desserts. They are double chocolate brownie and are only 4PP each. even DH said they didn't taste low fat and they really feel like you're having a proper pudding. i even said i would probably take one with me to a buffet at someones house so i could have a tasty low point dessert instead of high point cheesecake etc. will definately remember that for next xmas.

Good luck on your WI Norma and glad you feel more positive littlefish

sweetheart · 09/01/2011 20:28

Hi all,

I've had a really good weekend. The weekends is really where I fall down and when I was maintaining I used to follow ww Mon - Fri and have the weekends off. I have managed to stay on track this weekend and even had a roast with one of the new yummy ww puddings. It's the first time I've used my weekly points but only 5 and my week finishes on Wednesday.

littlefish well done for coming back from the brink. I am a total control freak so I totally understand the panic you felt when you lost control. Can I suggest you read Paul McKenna "I can make you thin". As well as ww I used the principals PM sets out in his book and he has some really good techniques for dealing with cravings and learning to recognise the differences between real hunger and emotional hunger. It really helps me to stay on track with ww because before I eat anything I seriously consider if I am actually hungry in the first place.

sweetheart · 09/01/2011 20:31

Tarty the activity points depends on your weight, how long you exercise for and how intense your workout is

TartyMcFarty · 09/01/2011 20:36

Thanks. Is there some booklet or something that I can buy to help me work it out? I've been doing sections from the new Davina DVD (it's good, by the way!) Couldn't get out for a run today due to sheet ice, but will be spinning in the week. In fact I've just been asked to train as a spin instructor, yikes Shock Good motivator to get as fit as I was before DD though.

Hate Shred. Did it a few months back and found it really joyless. Don't think I was in the right frame of mind at the time.

LuckyLight · 09/01/2011 21:04

tarty tell me your weight to the nearest half stone and I will give you some ideas for activity pts. I am near 10 stone and I usually class a 45 spin as 5 pts.

TartyMcFarty · 09/01/2011 21:43

Thanks Lucky. I'm nearer 10st 7lbs after Christmas. Ooops.

OK if I join in please? I'm weighimg in on Saturday.

LuckyLight · 09/01/2011 22:22

30 mins high intensity = 5 pts (low=1 pt and med=2pts)

50 mins high intensity = 8 pts

60 mins high intensity = 10 pts Grin.

LuckyLight · 09/01/2011 22:22

Of course you can join. Welcome Smile.

LuckyLight · 09/01/2011 22:42

I have just posted some photos on my profile. For those of you with more than a stone or two to lose, some pics of my friend who lost 10 stone (yes, 10 stone) on WW 6 years ago, and had kept it off since. She is a true inspiration.

Then me, not the best pics I'm afraid. Will try and get a better 'after' pic when I reach my goal.

The ones of my friend are far more inspiring anyway.

Littlefish · 09/01/2011 22:59

Your profile is not opening Lucky.

Lollypolly · 10/01/2011 05:54

Hi all

Hope I'm posting in the right place (tis a while since I was last on mumsnet). I started WW Propoints (stupidly) at the weekend - it was a bit of a false start so am beginning again today. Had a very disciplined breakfast (all bran, skim milk, banana) after a bit of a run, healthy lunch (chickpea curry and rice). I live in Singapore so am 8 hours ahead of you guys.

Also downloading the Shred dvd so will hopefully start that tomorrow.

I lost 10kg of baby weight last year through acupuncture of all things, along with a really tough diet, but have put on 3 so need to get back on track. Would ideally like to lose 11kg to get to a healthy weight.

Look forward to chatting with you all - have a brilliant Monday! xx
