Weightwatchers ProPoints Plan

1000 replies

squashedfrogs · 08/11/2010 22:14

I've been following WW online for a few years on and off and today my account has changed to the new ProPoints plan. I haven't yet looked into this properly but was wondering if anyone else knew much about it?

I know there is another thread where someone (sorry can't remember who) was testing the new plan, has it been easy to follow & does it work?

Great losses everyone!

Should we do a little summary thing to keep us motivated eg

thighs start weight / current weight / total loss

LeeWT

1 pound is good if you've not been well, I bet you have a bigger loss next week.
In my book it says a mushroom chow mein is 6 ppts.

Chips are either standard portion (210g) 14ppts or large (350g) 24ppts. EEK!

NormaSknockers · 18/11/2010 09:24

Morning all,

harverina well done on the loss, fab!

LeeWT I know it's gutting when you only lose a lb but it's a lb in the right direction and that is what counts. You might find that next week you'll have a better loss where your body starts to show it, I often don't show until the following week. Don't get dis-heartened, you can do this. Your leader doesn't sound very good though, can you get to a different meeting at all?

Rioja don't worry, it was just one week. Don't be over strict, you don't need to be, just get back on track and stay on that will be enough to do it. I bet you lose that 1.5lb and then some by your next weigh in Grin

InLove I like you're thinking Grin

I don't fancy anything this morning, just cant find anything I want to eat so think I might skip breakfast (naughty!) and maybe have a bigger lunch like a cheeky Subway or something....

Dinner tonight is going to be sausage casserole (just going in the slow cooker now) possibly with dumplings!

bintofbohemia · 18/11/2010 09:38

Reassuring to hear you're all doing so well, I'm finding it quite a struggle to keep everything within 29 points. I'm going to make a load of no points veggie curry and ratatouille and hope that makes things easier, I've not been very organised on the cooking from scratch front this week.

Well done everyone for their losses, all fab! It's encouraging to knnow it's working. :)

I made the winter minestrone this morning from the Your Week booklet from last week. I ommited the cauliflour as I'm weird about it and I didn't have a can of canellini beans so I used a tin of mixed pulses (same PP). I had some fine beans so I chopped those up and chucked 'em in. DH and I have just had a bowl each and we're both stuffed! It's definitely the best soup recipe I've tried yet. I recommend it. it's 3 PPs per serving so still low.

I also have a good recipe for a no points veggie balti. Will find it and post here.

InLoveWithDavidTennant · 18/11/2010 13:16

Can we have a recipe for no points veggie curry?

cupcakesandbunting · 18/11/2010 13:26

Right,am remembering this off the top of my head so may have to return to amend it Grin

Large onion
2 carrots
butternut squash, diced
cauliflour
tin chopped tomatoes
green/fine beans trimmed and halved
pint vegetable stock
heaped tbsp cumin seeds
bay leaf
4 whole cloves
tomato puree
tbsp turmeric
tbspgaram masala
heaped tbsp curry powder

Mist large pan with Fry Light. Throw in heaped tablespoon of cumin seeds and then the onion. If sticking add a splash of water and cook until onions are softened. Add the diced carrots and cook until starting to soften. At this point, add the whole cloves, turmeric and curry powder and stir in to coat the vegetables. Throw in the butternut and fine beans and coat with the spices. Add the tinned tomatoes and bay leaves and the hot stock. Simmer for ten minutes. Stir in a tbsp garam masala. Cook on a high heat without a lid to thicken. Taste and add seasoning/more spices if you wish to. Simmer for a further ten minutes, until the butternut is softened.

Think that's it!

vnmum · 18/11/2010 13:27

hi everyone, congrats on all the recent good losses.

I had WI this morning and I lost 2.5lb Grin that was even with going over my weekly points by about 16pp.

Amanderr I asked about the rinsing of fruit in syrup and the leader said it doesn't make it 0pp as the sugars will have been absorbed by the fruit while in the tin.

My leader also said that in one of her other groups she had a lady who had stuck to the plan rigidly for a week, even measuring and counting tbsp of tom ketchup etc and had only lost 1/2lb. This lady was going to leave but the leader said give it another week and she did and this week she lost 5lb. So for those of you disappointed with a small loss or a gain it can mean a bigger loss the next week.

Well i'm starting with a cold (sneezing, sore throat, cough etc)and it's my birthday today so i am going to cheer myself up and have a birthday treat of a choc cream muffin and some ben and jerry's later, and i will still have some weekly points left after all that. happy days Smile

cupcakesandbunting · 18/11/2010 13:27

Bugger, forgot to say throw in the cauli at the same time as the garam masala.

SweetnessAndShite · 18/11/2010 13:35

Well I weighed in this morning and I lost 5.5lb! Grin Grin Grin I'm amazed as I've only got 8lb to go to goal so I'm not overly large.

I've been faffing about losing 1lb one week and gaining 2 the next since before the summer holidays. So about 11 lb had crept on since then. Think the new plan is the kick up the arse I needed so have followed it properly this week for the first time in about 4 months. Hence the loss.

I'm loving the new plan though. It really suits me psychologically having those 49 points to fall back on or to cover a blow out rather than trying to claw back points over the following days which never works for me.

Anyway, I'm really pleased and motivated. Long may it continue!

SweetnessAndShite · 18/11/2010 13:36

Oh and Happy Birthday vnmum Smile

vnmum · 18/11/2010 13:41

Thankyou Sweetness and well done on that loss, it is fantastic. I am really liking the plan too. I was abit skeptical at first seeing how much you can eat on it but it does work. I was like you on the old plan, i'd eat some chocolate or something and go over my points then spend the rest of the week trying to manage on 10 to 14 points a day which wasn't practical as i'd then be starving and end up going over again by grabbing a biscuit or something. This way is so much easier and you don't feel deprived i feel

cupcakesandbunting · 18/11/2010 13:46

OMFG Sweetness!
Well done!

SweetnessAndShite · 18/11/2010 13:46

Thank you, vnmum. And well done on your loss too Grin

I'm now wondering if I could possibly reach goal before Christmas if I pull my finger out.

NormaSknockers · 18/11/2010 13:58

Well done on your loss and happy birthday vnmum Grin

Sweetness well done on your loss too, fab loss, brilliant Grin

I bought some tesco healthy living vanilla ice cream while I was out and I'm going to whizz it with some strawberries and raspberries for a very low pointed yummy milkshake/treat Grin

bintofbohemia · 18/11/2010 14:03

My curry is pretty similar to cupcakes's - the only thing I do differently is make the sauce by itself (onions, tomatoes, garlic and curry paste) and then liquidise it as I quite like mine smooth sometimes. If I'm feeling really conscientious I make a shedload of the sauce and then freeze it in smaller batches so I can chuck in whatever veggies I have to hand at a later date for a speedy meal.

cupcakesandbunting · 18/11/2010 14:06

Ooh, thanks Bint. I forgot to mention garlic in mine. Add two cloves crushed garlic with the cumin seeds!

InLoveWithDavidTennant · 18/11/2010 14:32

vnmum Happy birthday Smile

sweetness Well done. Thats fab.

NormaS That sounds so yummy!

Hmm Although ours is a 24hr one so I could sneak off during the night to get some Wink

vnmum · 18/11/2010 14:36

Thanks Norma and InLove

Lucky2010 · 18/11/2010 14:52

Had a lovely meal at my friend's. I am having to guess some of the points though...

Can anyone guess how much a GU chocolate souffle would be ?? (Yes Grin, it was delicious!).

I had a cheeky weigh in at home this am and had gained 1 lb Shock.

Still can't do a proper poo. Sure that's not helping.

Anyone else suffering with this? I had 8 pieces of fruit yesterday FFS! 'wet' fruit like melon and satsumas too. Have stopped eating 2 bananas a day too. Just wish I could go. Might have to resort to Senna....

Fantastic weight losses on here ladies. I too am proud of my virtual friends!

Furball · 18/11/2010 16:07

Try 1 oz of all bran with a sliced banana on top for a few days - might give you the fibre needed to move things on.

NormaSknockers · 18/11/2010 17:25

Or if all else fails a spoon of brown sugar in a small glass od wtare, it'll make you go like the clappers Lucky Grin

Re the GU pud I've been on Tesco and looked up the values and according to my calculator it's 8 PPs per pud Shock

Lucky2010 · 18/11/2010 19:36

WOW Norma, I put it at 15 as a guess! That can't be right, if a jacket potato is 8, how on earth is a choc pudding the same....it was delicious and very rich!!

Result...!

furball thanks, but I have a massive bowl of bran flakes every morning. Can try all bran as I think it is more fibre-some (!)

Lucky2010 · 18/11/2010 19:37

Erm Norma....'glass od wtare'??? Please clarify Grin.

Lucky2010 · 18/11/2010 19:40

By jove norma...just double checked on tesco website (great tip btw) and you're right!!!
