Piste is busily plumping up the cushions and making a space for Blondes to dump the naughty step.

Here we go! Let's see 2010 out in style my fellow Slinkies!

OP posts:
Murtette · 22/10/2010 20:07

Blondes - owwwwwwwwwwwwch. Wishing you a swift recovery.

Bebe - wishing you a swift recovery too. Excuse my ignorance, but is it usual for illness to trigger a relapse?

Piste - have a fantastic holiday. And will you please STOP whingeing about how you're going to look on holiday? You've lost a huge amount of weight this year and will be looking fabulous. You have inspired/bullied the rest of us to keep on track.

Gettin - good luck the race!

Pretty - what a nightmare about the ceiling. My sitting room ceiling fell in about six years ago (well, I say fell in but it was due to the people in the flat upstairs having building work and the builder getting a bit enthusiastic!) and there was dust everywhere. I thought I'd done a really thorough clean afterwards but months later would still find mounds of dust in out of the way places like on top of the DVD. At least nothing got damaged. One huge chunk missed my wine rack by millimetres which I was relieved by.

bebejones · 22/10/2010 21:25

Murtette/Pretty - we had a small chunk of ceiling fall off in our living room the other week (about the size of a small saucer) it hit DH on the head! Twas v funny! Blush :o

Murtette - I find that several bugs in sucession or really nasty ones can triger relapses or flare ups of old ones. Essentially MS is an immune system disorder where the body identifies the coating on nerves as a foreign body & attacks it & the nerves then get damaged. So I think that if I get run down/ill then my immune system goes into overdrive IYSWIM? Hope that makes sense? Confused (Obviously there is more to it than that, but I don't fully understand it!)

Have hardly eaten today as my throat is so painful :(

b - 1 slice jam toast & oj
l - 1/4 toasted cheese muffin
d - bns soup, small bread roll & some crumble as a treat!

Have been drinking loads though, only thing that isn't too painful! I hate being ill!

GettinGhoulish · 23/10/2010 09:34

Bebe - that is next to nothing - hope you feel better soon.

Race tomorrow, according to my pack I have to be there by 9.15 and assemble at a designated area to start at 11. The RSPCA have just e-mailed to say they have not been given marquee space due to the number of charities, so nowhere to leave my lunch/change of clothes. Dh and dc will have to get up early to come with me.

Also I hope I don't need the loo on the way round, running can have that effect on me Hmm I am a bit nervous about that.

Hope you all have good weekends Smile

bebejones · 23/10/2010 09:42

GG - You'll have to do a Paula Radcliffe! Wink

JODIEwantsanewname · 23/10/2010 09:55

LOL at Pretty being more upset about the BNS than at her ceiling falling in!! Although what a pain. I hope you are all OK xx

Trimmer I can't find the link to sponser you, can you please post again, I;m sorry to be a pain [hblush]

bebe sorry to hear you are feeling rubbish. This time of year I drink a cup of echanecha (sp?) tea ecery day which is supposd to help the old imune system (must remember to get them while shopping today) will that help you?

Blondes enjoy your meal tonight, we are off out tonight too, it's our WA on thursday and MIL and FIL are having the kids tonight! Can't wait, not for going out really, but for the lie in tomorrow, how sad is that! [hgrin]

bebejones · 23/10/2010 11:04

Just having some warm lemon & honey (in my 'Keep calm & carry on' mug :o) didn't know you could get echanecha in tea form Jodie, I used to take it in winter before DD. Shall look into it!

Jodie - don't blame you looking forward to a lie in! I'd love a lie in but it never happens! DH says I get a lie in every day (he gets up at 6 to go to work) Hmm would still like an extra hour!

The positive side of toothache & a sore throat is I really can't face anything more substantial than soup! Bet I'll still sts next week! I'd love to be down to 10st by xmas, it'll really be a good way to finish a year of hard dieting work! [hwink]

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/10/2010 11:52

bebe - hope throat feels better soon

jodie - hope you have a lovely meal tonight and enjoy lie in tomorrow

gg- have a chill day today so you are in great spirits tomorrow

im working late afternoon/evening at a 60th birthday party hever castle - shall be hobbling along looking after a 8mth old, so i shall either limp clinging onto dear life to the buggy and then put feet up when in bed 7pm and watch x factor

i have room service coming with whatever the guests are eating so no sure how good dietwise will be tonight

last night i had a few drinks (to numb the pain ofmy ankle and for mr blondes birthday)

prettybird · 23/10/2010 12:28

GG - good luck with the run tomorrow :) I know what you mean about needing toilet facilities (more of an issue since I had ds Blush). Just make sure that yuo "go" immediately beforehand and take some loo roll tucked into the waist of your running tight/shorts/track suit bottoms. We have had people ask to use our loo during the Glasgow Women's 10k (we're less than 2km from the start! Hmm) while we are standing supporting them as they go past, so you could always do the same if you are desparate! Grin

Bebe - hope you are feeling better.

Blondes - hope you cope OK today and don't go mad on that room service!

Piste - have a grrrreat holiday - and wow them with your gorgeous curves :)

Jodie - you're right about the BNS soup Grin - and the jug of good chicken stock that I still had left over from making the BNS soup.

Murtette - hope the builders compenstaed you for all the hassle and cleaning. Shock

The kitcehn is now useable again, although it is going to take a loooong time to get properly clean again. About a 2m squared area came down - properly old-fashioned and very heavy plaster. It's amazing that nothing serious was broken. There are a couple fo small scuffs on handle of the Amercian style fridge freezer and on the microwave beside it, but that's all the addtional damage I have found. The stoor is horrible though (good Scottish word that Wink): sticky, sooty thick dust that has got everywere. My fingers are permanently bacl, even from touching thngs I thought I had cleaned.

I've taken some photos so I'll see if I can post some. I'll need to get dh to e-mail them to me as he downloads them onto his computer.

DespicableMe · 23/10/2010 15:19

Pretty how awful about your ceiling! I'm a clean freak so something like that would be my worst nightmare! Hope things are sorted for you soon.

GG I am so jealous about the race, I want to do one! Good luck!!

Bebe I hope you're feeling better soon.

I have a raging UTI atm and can feel it creeping into my back. I feel too grim to even do the washing up because standing at the sink makes me need to wee! [hsad] Will have to try not to stuff my face too much with comfort food during Xfactor! I have a stock of WW cakes just in case I can't stop myself though [hwink]

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/10/2010 15:48

poor you despicable - cranberry juice and lots of water

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/10/2010 08:01

GG - GO GG GO AND RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!!!!!

'blondes hobbles to finishing line and cheers gg'

bebejones · 24/10/2010 09:16

Go GG Go!!! :o

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/10/2010 14:22

GG-how did you do?

fallen off diet wagon, feeling fat and frumpy and cant go to the gym and eating crap/chocolate/pizza etc yesterday evening and today :(

will try and re start tomorrow but hobbles to bench of shame and sits on it

GettinGhoulish · 24/10/2010 19:09

Slinkies, I did it Smile Smile whoop whoop!!!

It took me 2 hours 12 mins but was 10 miles, no walking I jogged very slowly in parts other parts ran faster.

Great atmosphere - steel band, celtic band, trumpets, music all along the way and passed the seafront, Old Portsmouth, HMS Victory, canoe lake and for the last part along the seafront again. People came out of their houses to cheer us on and little children holding their hands out for high fives all along the way. Gorgeous sunny day.

many people running for charities.

After the race I scoffed x2 energy bars in my freebie bag, then had potato wedges (pizza hut) but couldn't finish my pizza.

My major worry was needing the loo on the way but managed to hang on till the end.

Blondes I can well understand falling off the wagon Sad you and me both back on it tomorrow? I am planning on starting the week foodfocusing with 1700 calories to ease back into it.

despicable sorry to hear about your UTI, I used to get them very often, but when I started to drink 4 pints of water every day they seemed to clear up. Hope feeling better soon.

bebe cheerleaders were at the race, I could have done with the Bebe team

GettinGhoulish · 24/10/2010 19:10

Jodie i wll post link later thanks

Murtette · 24/10/2010 19:59

GG - well done! That's a really good time. You must be feeling so proud. Was it good weather? Its been spectacular here all weekend.

Blondes - you must be missing going to the gym. I'm always impressed about how often you go. I mean to go that often but never actually manage it! Knowing you, you'll have lost weight anyway...although maybe not with all of the swelling. What shade are you now?

Bebe - is it time for a name change? I'm thinking "SlinkyJones" or "SkinnyJones". I your family one of those families who see people at Xmas but not at any time of year (ours is!). If so, think of what a surprise they're going to get when they see you this year!

Pretty - how is the clean up job going? Stupidly, when it happened to me and the people upstairs offered to pay for it to be cleaned I refused as I hadn't realised how bad it could possibly be! Since I whinged about my brother last week, I've been meaning to ask about yours and whether he's got any better about your Mum being in a home.

It was DD's birthday yesterday and I am proud to say that I was 12st2 yesterday morning so I'd missed my goal by 2lbs but had lost another lb and after my week at my parents, had always known it was going to be tricky to get to. Having scoffed cake and goodies all weekend, I have no idea what I'll weigh in at my "official" weigh in tomorrow but I'm not looking forward to it. DD had a lovely time and is so excited with all of her new toys. She got a little wooden pram, some happyland stuff, megablocks, books and a few other bits and just keeps touring the sitting room going from one toy to another. My challenge for this evening, is to try and find somewhere to put them all as she's definitely not going to have them all out at the same time.

Enjoy your Sunday evenings.

bebejones · 24/10/2010 21:28

Well done GG!!! Whoop Whoop!!! :o

Have fallen off wagon this weekend too! Felt too rubbish to cook yesterday so DH ordered food I had a chicken burger & fries Blush And have been v bad today too. Went to DHs nephews 2nd birthday party...but only the children were given food! Shock Was so hungry & lightheaded that we stopped for a burger king Blush Must be extra good this week! Tooth & throat agony again this evening so feeling pretty mis! :(

Murtette - unfortunately I have seen my family throughout the year so no big surprises for them! Glad your DD enjoyed her birthday! Can sympathise on the toy front. We do 'toy rotation' because not only does she get bored with the same stuff all the time, I get bored of clearing up the same things all the time! :o

Was planning a Halloween inspired name change like Trimmer aka GettinGhoulish! Was thinking perhaps bebebones?! Hmm Or maybe BOOjones?

GettinGhoulish · 25/10/2010 08:47

I'm determined to get back on the waggon today Bebe. I love BOOJones!

Hope you are feeling better soon.

I have sore feet and sore legs today, a little better since getting up.

Good luck with weigh in today Murtette.

I sts yet again, but I am determined to have a good week. Foodfocusing at 1700 calories today then dropping to 1600 tomorrow then 1500 until Saturday.

prettybird · 25/10/2010 09:25

Congratulations GG :)

There is a real sense of achievement from completing a run like that. It's a bit like giving birth: you think never again even though you a re exhilirated and then after a bit you forget the pain and just remember the achievement. At least, that's what happened to me after my first marathon and then I went on to run two more! Shock

Wasn't too bad over the weekend: a bit over the recommended FoodFocus level to lose 1.5lb a week, but still below the maintenance level. It's the glasses of wine that tip me over Hmm

About 2/3 of the way through cleaning the kitchen - not counting the top of the wall mounted kitchen unit, which I daren't even look at.

GettinGhoulish · 25/10/2010 10:46

www.justgiving.com/gettinthere Jodie here's the link if you'd like to sponsor me for yesterday's run.

Yes ikwym about a challenging run like giving birth Pretty Grin

I was feeling towards the end that I couldn't go on anymore, I remember saying that to the midwife!

prettybird · 25/10/2010 11:25

Grin GG.

Like you, I never walked. When I first started running, I once met my boss out on a run (I got on well with him and he was the one that challenged me to start running). From that point onwards, I have never walked during a run IYSWIM. I might be running veeeerrrry slowly, barely lifting my feet (in fact, during that first marathon in St Albans, I can remember dreading driveways - the backenders had been directed onto the pavements - 'co they involved me having to lift my feet an extra inch!), but I never walk. It sounds impressive - but it's only 'cos for me, it would be even harder to start running again - it's less effort just to keep the running motion going Grin

GettinGhoulish · 25/10/2010 11:54

Last night I was going down the stairs on my bottom my legs were so tired! Also walked for about x3 miles to and from the station so I covered 13 miles.

My legs feel like they are beginning to recover, thank goodness I did some training although probably not quite enough..

I posted on that left handed thread, saw you on there Pretty - my ds doesn't ride a bike yet and won't try as he finds it challenging, we're both right handed interesting how genetics determine things (or whatever!).

Just having lunch

stilton and broccolli soup (a bit calorific)
1oz pasta/tuna salad
yogurt

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/10/2010 12:47

GG yah - well done, you must be SO proud of yourself - us slinkies are :)
MURTETTE yes i miss the gym and weight is piling on :( ankle still swollen but colour grey/purple now and happy birthday to dd :)
BEBE love bebebones lol
PRETTY well done for cleaning - its a nightmare all that dust etc

i will try and get back into the swing of dieting today but have been sooooooooooooo bad, its almost as if i just cant give a toss 'sighs'

GettinGhoulish · 25/10/2010 16:17

Get your ankle better Blondes, hang on in there sounds like it is healing nicely. How did Sat night go at Hever castle? I love castles, bet it's haunted Grin

My legs feel almost recovered now, still a bit sore but should be alright by Wednesday. I will do my Davina DVD then.

home made pizza for tea, a bit dangerous but I will just have a small slice with a big salad and a small portion of couscous

GettinGhoulish · 25/10/2010 16:18

I meant to do [hgrin] just an excuse really
