Giving up MJ due to side effects

Frenchjamisbest · 08/10/2026 21:29

I have been MJ for five days. Every day I've had worse stomach issues than the last. I am now spending all day feeling really unwell. Not nausea but stomach discomfort and indigestion, discomfort. Anything I eat makes me feel awful.

I am going on holiday on Tuesday and don't want it ruined by feeling ill . I hardly slept last night as my stomach was so bad.

Has anyone else given up at this point? The gas and stomach upset is horrendous.

Honestly, I would take a break and try with a half dose after your holiday.

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 08/10/2026 21:31

Yeah honestly i'd give up... im assuming you are on lowest dose.... what are you eating?

Frenchjamisbest · 08/10/2026 21:34

Yes lowest dose. I have found breakfast makes me feel awful so I've stopped eating it . Greek yogurt and berries. Today I had soup and a scone for lunch. Dinner some salad with a small amount of chicken curry. I find if I don't eat breakfast I feel okay until I eat lunch and then ot all starts again.

You could certainly look at ways to mitigate the issues you're having without necessarily totally stopping. So, delay your next dose, reduce your next dose to a half dose or less, for example. I presume that OTC remedies for gas and bloating aren't helping? You could also look at what you're eating, so avoid wheat, cruciferous veg and pulses, add in ginger or peppermint tea and a probiotic yoghurt, also fresh ginger too.

Or stop totally, and maybe consider one of the less effective GLP1s like the Foundayo tablets which are also cheaper.

NotPerfectlyAdverage · 08/10/2026 21:43

The side effects can be awful. I have started getting bad effects after a year. I split my dose now and can't above 75mg or its like loosing weight - but from noro virus!

I'd half the dose and try again but start after your holiday.

Frenchjamisbest · 08/10/2026 21:44

I've tried peppermint tablets . What are foundayo tablets?

I think I will give up for the holiday. How long does it take for the side effects to disappear?

Foundayo is a totally different med in tablet form, some folks mistakenly think as it’s the same manufacturer it’s a glp, it is not,

can I ask are you buying from a reputable supplier? 80 percent get no side effects but it maybe you can’t tolerate so wegovy or one of the pills maybe better

Half life is five days, so it’s strength halves every 5 days , so if this is your fifth day tomorrow you will have half the amount you did when you injected

Frenchjamisbest · 08/10/2026 21:50

I can't understand why I'm feeling worse every day then . My stomach feels like it's on fire

Foundayo is a tablet GLP1 manufactured by Lilly who also make Mounjaro. It's a different medication and is less effective than Mounjaro, but also cheaper. Just another option if it turns out that you are too sensitive to Mounjaro and do end up stopping.

The Mounjaro will be half out of your system by 7 days or so since your last injection, and fully out of your system after about 30 days. Side effects should start to lessen from now onwards if you don't take another dose.

It is weird some people like you get loose stool (from your noro comment?) yet most get constipation. I get every person is different, but you'd think it would be the extent you're affected, as in not completely opposite effects.

When you say youve been on it for 5 days you mean you had one jab 5 days ago

And when you say you will give it up for the holiday you mean not take another jab until you get home?

Because being on it and stopping for the holiday sounds like you are doing some every day.

SilenceInside · 08/10/2026 22:03

I would also try really plain and easily digestible meals. So plain rice, plain chicken, white fish, eggs, carrots, courgettes. Just really minimal and simple until you are feeling better.

No I've had one jab on Saturday evening and felt fine but each day the stomach issues have been worse than the day before

Leave it whilst you go on holiday and then when you get back try half a dose. 30 clicks so 1.25mg … might help side effects.

good luck

I've got the point I really don't want to eat anything but plain food is all I can face now

Id probably hold fire after the holiday too then. Even me with my horrendous stomach issues of GERD and other related problems hasn't been this bad so you might need to look into why this happening before you go in with another shot.

Yes I don't think I can carry on really.

OP I stopped MJ in May as the side effects became really bad, I was only on 2.5mg! Lost two stone on it too. I restarted again last month and am taking 1.25mg (30 clicks as previous poster said). I’m tolerating this really well and losing about one pound per week which isn’t, of course, as good as my last loss on it but I’m getting lighter. Definitely consider this when you come back from holiday. I know how nasty those side effects are x

I did have more constipation to start with. But its been a year later it just makes me ill. I was up to 12.5 and going along okish. Then stopped for a holiday for two weeks and I just can't seem to tolerate it anymore. Current trick seems to be to take a iron tablet on injection day and the side effects of that cancel out the runs. I im very slowly trying to get up 5mg again by doing two 2.5mg a week. Also I can't tolerate anything fatty. Had salmon today and I know im.going to pay for it. But how much fat can you avoid?

The MJ has been really good for my inflammation or I think I'd would have stopped it

Frenchjamisbest · 09/10/2026 07:44

I've already lost nearly five pounds and feel much better on MJ apart from the awful stomach issues. It's difficult.
