To be overjoyed with Wegovy?

So much kudos for Mounjaro here yet struggled to find any positive threads about switching to Wegovy.
Well it's bloody brilliant.
I have spent months feeling the financial strain of paying the increased exorbitant MJ costs and worrying that I can't sustain paying that much money every month. I started MJ when it was the normal price, before the price hikes.
Read through here for positive stories about switching to Wegovy but couldn't find any, which made me keep going with MJ.
Then I genuinely couldn't afford it anymore so I bit the bullet and bought Wegovy thinking I'll give it a 1 month trial.
It's marvellous.
Took my last dose of MJ 2 weeks ago and my first dose of 1mg Wegovy 1 week ago and have had complete appetite suppression with no food noise from the first day. Today is day 6 and I still have zero appetite. Having to remind myself to eat. Feel really well. No side effects. And have lost 2 pounds in 1 week.
And it's literally 50% cheaper than I was paying for MJ. Which means I can now afford to continue my weight loss journey!
Please God don't let Donald interfere with Wegovy prices!!!

Great news @Jolty

SilenceInside · 29/09/2026 10:30

That's great @Jolty , it's useful to hear your experience. I think there are probably quite a few people thinking about the expense of Mounjaro and the effectiveness of Wegovy.

KindlySurfiingPlatypus · 29/09/2026 10:40

I've been on Wegovy for a couple of months and am losing weight really effectively. MJ was never possible for me. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the benefits of MJ over Weg are as much marketing hype as anything else.

Looneytune253 · 29/09/2026 11:22

Oh wow. I had the complete opposite. Had a successful few months on the MJ lost quite a bit but switched due to price. Worked way up WG and never quite got any levels of suppression etc, then ended up having to start the beginning of MJ again. Took months and months.

BreezyClouds · 29/09/2026 11:27

I'm in the 'less to lose' camp, bmi 26 to 23 in 4 months on Wegovy staying on the 0.5mg dose.

From what I've seen of others in the same boat MJ was often too effective and they struggled to eat. I feel pretty normal, get hungry and enjoy my meals but get fuller faster and don't think about food all the time.

Love it, I'm reducing dose now.

Glad to hear you are having such a good experience on Weygovy, I was on MJ for a year and have switched to Weygovy - I have recently started on tablets for maintenance and find them really good, a nice steady suppression, not too much and no food noise at all. Overall I have lost just over 50kg now and am in a healthy BMI range & feel good, I will probably be on a GLP for a long time if not forever but that’s ok because the cost is now manageable and no SE whilst taking Wegovy tablets.

Oh that sounds frustrating for you, especially having to start back on low dose MJ again.
It's weird how different people respond differently to the same drug isn't it, I don't get it.
ETA I hope you got there in the end.xx

Oh that's great news, congrats. I have also had success on wegovy, albeit not lots to lose (but what was there was stubborn!) Down BMI 26 to 22. I decided to go with wegovy because I'd heard it was less effective, because I thought MJ would be 'too strong' if I didn't have major issues with appetite. I was really surprised at how strong the effect was for me, I was on the starter dose for two months, and still on the next dose 3 months later. I've had very minimal side effects too.

I totally understand that different people will have different experiences, but I would encourage people to try wegovy first before making the commitment to MJ, given the cost.

Thank you!
I agree with your last paragraph.
Wish I'd started on Wegovy as I'd have saved hundreds of pounds. But I'd read so, so much on here about the miracle of MJ and the apparent underwhelm for Wegovy, that I went straight for MJ. I regret that, in hindsight.
Also used to get splitting headaches on MJ but so far none on Wegovy.

@Jolty I don't usually say anything because, well, it's not my place to question other people's decisions - but I do feel a bit uncomfortable how often I've read on here that people are really pleased with MJ because they can barely eat, can't finish a meal, or are having to force themselves to eat. I get that if that is the effect they're having, they will lose a lot of weight. It just doesn't sound like a healthy way, physically or mentally. Even if someone is planning to stay on it long term, it's got to be better to build healthy eating habits and a good relationship with food.
I know not everyone uses it that way, just thats what I often see with the celebration of MJ!

devildeepbluesea · 29/09/2026 22:13

This is such a reassuring thread, I just ordered my first dose of Wegovy, thank you.

Autumngirl5 · 29/09/2026 22:25

I have just ordered my first dose too. My daughter has had a good experience with it. Good luck!

Northernexiled · 29/09/2026 22:31

I thought it was like injecting water-completely useless but glad it’s working for you. Haven’t had to go up a dose on mj at all so relatively affordable.

HangryBrickShark · 29/09/2026 22:31

Yes I'm on Wegovy, paying £203 a month via Med Express against Mounjaros price of £283. On 10.5mg and recently made my target weight at Slimming World with a loss of 4.8 stone

I find it so interesting that exactly the same drug can have such different effects on different people. I wonder why?
Glad MJ is working for you. There is no doubt it works. MJ worked brilliantly for me too, I'm just saying that Wegovy works equally brilliantly (for me personally).

I thought the highest available dose of Wegovy is 7.2mg?
Well done on your terrific weight loss!

That's great it's working for you, well done. I tried stretching out the injection times and regretted it. I've lost two and a half stone on it. I'm on 2.4. I'm losing slowly and eat three meals a day with no side affects, apart from once I ate a greasy meal. I think it's good as you can still eat, well I can, I'm still hungry at times but I can wait and it's giving me the willpower I usually struggle to have. I'm anxious about what will happen when I reach my goal weight and come off it. Hopefully all my good eating habits will keep my weight low and be achievable.
Well done and good luck.

Mysticmaiden · 30/09/2026 20:06

I switched from 10mg mj to 1.7mg wegovy and it felt strong satiety and suppression and I had zero food noise for around 4-6 weeks, i also had constipation from day 1 which id never experienced on mj...then I had inflammation, bloating, carb and sugar cravings, gained 3lbs over next 2 months. Switched back to 7.5mg mj and lost 3lbs in 2 days and 3lbs the rest of the month. All my side effects vanished within 3 days. Then 7.5mg got too strong, I'm now down to 4mg as even 5mg mj got too strong.
I believe wegovy worked well for 1 month because of mj still being in my system for that long!

Everyinch · 30/09/2026 20:12

It takes about 25 to 30 days (or roughly 4 to 5 weeks) for Mounjaro (tirzepatide) to completely clear from your system after your last injection.

At the moment you've got Mounjaro and Wegovy in you. I hope you do find Wegovy works but it's too early to tell.
