To be overjoyed with Wegovy?

So much kudos for Mounjaro here yet struggled to find any positive threads about switching to Wegovy.
Well it's bloody brilliant.
I have spent months feeling the financial strain of paying the increased exorbitant MJ costs and worrying that I can't sustain paying that much money every month. I started MJ when it was the normal price, before the price hikes.
Read through here for positive stories about switching to Wegovy but couldn't find any, which made me keep going with MJ.
Then I genuinely couldn't afford it anymore so I bit the bullet and bought Wegovy thinking I'll give it a 1 month trial.
It's marvellous.
Took my last dose of MJ 2 weeks ago and my first dose of 1mg Wegovy 1 week ago and have had complete appetite suppression with no food noise from the first day. Today is day 6 and I still have zero appetite. Having to remind myself to eat. Feel really well. No side effects. And have lost 2 pounds in 1 week.
And it's literally 50% cheaper than I was paying for MJ. Which means I can now afford to continue my weight loss journey!
Please God don't let Donald interfere with Wegovy prices!!!

I hit a plateau with wegovy so switched to MJ. MJ had no effect on me whatsoever--I didn't titrate as my doctor said I could go from a high dose of wegovy to MJ. Weird drugs.

I'm now on a maintenance dosage of wegovy and happy to stay on it.

How much are you paying for the tablets and what dose?

9 mg and £175. I plan to stay on wegovy but at a lower dose once the final 2kg have gone

Just weighed after first week on Wegovy 0.25mg and 1.8kg down. Very happy with that. Snacking has all but disappeared, and I’m not feeling anny hunger until about midday, so managing fine on 2 meals a day and lots of coffee before lunch.

Seafront16 · 08/10/2026 08:03

I started Wegovy and went all the way through to 7.2mg doses and can honestly say that it made absolutely no difference whatsoever. I never felt any appetite suppression at any dose level and also no side effects at all. It was literally like taking a benign placebo. A total waste of time.

Agree wegovy was like water for me after MJ - I’ve gone back to M and it’s working well again. I have an unopened 1mg pen in the fridge - what a waste of money as I know I won’t use it 😢

Just been on their website and am getting confused about what you get. They state you can get the following Wegovy bundle:

1x0.25mg and 1x0.5mg for £142.99.

So is this just 2 weeks’ worth then? And then I reorder after just 2 weeks?

I’ll happily take it off your hands!!

I’ve got 6 x 7.2mg pens in the fridge. I could inject them all into my eyeballs in one go and they wouldn’t make me blink. They’re going in the bin. Totally useless for me.

PickFlowersNotFights · 08/10/2026 10:57

I was on MJ lowest dose for 9 months and lost 3 stone, titrated down for 2 months and then stopped.

Weight stable for c 3 months and then summer and injury kicked in and put on 1/2 stone.

started Wegovy tablets in Sept and put on 3lbs 🤨. I had some uncomfortable side effects but took for a month to give it a go.

Switched to Foundayo on 5 Oct and 4lbs has gone already! I just really don’t think it suits me and MJ/Foundaro works with my body.

beguilingeyes · 08/10/2026 11:06

It's been like witchcraft for me. I've lost almost three stone this year. I'm on 2.4 mg at the moment but want to move to a maintenance dose soon.

So it’s a monthly not weekly injection?

keepswimming38 · 08/10/2026 20:55

I started on Wegovny last October and lost a stone and a half. Back on it now after stopping in may because I gained a few pounds but it works for me. I though munjaro was just too expensive.

devildeepbluesea · 09/10/2026 17:37

sunnysheila · 08/10/2026 20:38

So it’s a monthly not weekly injection?

No, it’s weekly. One pen lasts 4 weeks. You get 4 needles per pen.

That's a really good deal - works out at £71.50 a month.
People using MJ are paying more than double that per month.
I doubt those doses will do anything for weight loss though; 1mg is the therapeutic dose.

I've lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks now.

I have lost 3lbs in a week and so far no real side effects.

plasticplate · 11/10/2026 08:05

I've been on Wegovey since January and have lost 4st. BMI 37 to 26. I haven't gone above the 1.7 and will start reducing in a few months as I am close to my target weight. Weight loss at the start was 8lb a month and is now around 4lb.

devildeepbluesea · 16/10/2026 20:47

2 weeks in, 6lb down and no side effects to speak of. Today is day 9 and for the first time I feel slightly nauseous, but just like pregnancy, I find it goes with eating something. I’ve had a bag of mixed nuts handy which seem to do the trick

Jolty · 20/10/2026 19:25

So nice to hear success stories with Wegovy. I have found it scarce on mumsnet, it tends to be more about MJ on here.
I lost 6 pounds in my first 3 weeks of 1mg Wegovy. I have stalled right now. That's ok. I will just keep going.

Something I find interesting is that loads of posters on MN say WLI aren't a magic cure and that all a GLP-1 does is suppress your appetite so you can eat less calories and then lose weight and you still have to reduce calories. I have a hard time accepting that, because I can eat 1,000 cals a day without taking a GLP1 and I defy science by not losing an ounce of weight despite such a low intake. So much so, I get cries of "You're obviously eating much more than you think!" "You're not tracking your calories properly!" "I bet you forgot to track all you drinks!!!" "It's not possible to not lose weight on 1,000 cals a day!" "You're metabolism has slowed itself down to adjust to half starving yourself that's why you not losing weight! Eat more!" "Eat even less!". These were all things I had thrown at me from mumsnetters when I was so desperately trying to lose weight for years and failing. Bring in a weekly GLP-1 and bham. Exactly the same calorie intake, yet suddenly the weight loss happens.
It HAS to be doing more than simply reducing appetite. So much more.

Well done that gives me hope. Unfortunately I have had to pause mine as I’ve had a dreadful sinus infection and also had awful stomach issues. Not sure if it was all down to Wegovy but I was t coping with it all.
