Mounjaro with no food noise

YourAmusedSwan · 10/09/2026 16:01

I'm curious if anyone who DOESN'T have food noise has taken it mounjaro and what the results have been? I'm at my wits end with my perimenopausal weight having put on 2 stone in a year. I started 12 August on 2.5mg with starting weight of 11st 5 at 5ft 4, and just increased to 5mg today. I don't have food noise, never have. It's always been hard for me to remember to eat and always been really slim. Aged 49 and a half. Would love to hear you’re experiences

Peri menopause doesn’t just add on two stone for absolutely no reason!

What is your diet like? Why not just trying restricting if you don’t have food noises?

YourAmusedSwan · 10/09/2026 16:46

I barely remember to eat as I’m never really hungry. Also diet otherwise is good, never liked junk food and the pill also added a stone when I took that do GP did say I didn’t tolerate hormones very well. I also exercise regularly

You barely remember to eat, you exercise and have put on 2 stone in a year?
Are you sure there isn’t something else going on?

BeautifulViolets · 10/09/2026 16:56

So how much have you lost in the time you’ve been on Mounjaro?

Notsosweetcaroline · 10/09/2026 16:57

That doesn’t make sense op, unless you’re very unwell and it’s fluid, you’re simply eating too much.

YourAmusedSwan · 10/09/2026 17:03

10 pounds

I’ve had every blood test and check GP said it’s normal menopausal weight gain!

I put on about 3 stone with the menopause, I’m now post menopause and have lost the 3 stone plus more while being on MJ. I always had food noise although managed to control it, but still put the weight on, so for you maybe it’s simply a matter of being perimenopausal?

YourAmusedSwan · 10/09/2026 17:14

I was looking for advice from others that used mounjaro but didn’t struggle with food noise not an accountability coach.

Yes but 9t doesn’t magic out of thin air, you need to be consuming the calories to make it happen. And if you’ve lost ten pounds then eat less to lose it.

27 pounds not nine stone!

To gain 27 pounds you need to consume 94,500 extra cals more than you burn off.

im not sure what you’re saying.you think the weight just magiced on?

SilenceInside · 10/09/2026 17:27

The “food noise” thing is really irrelevant to how Mounjaro actually works. You don’t need to be constantly thinking of food in order for Mounjaro to have an effect. It works the same way on your system as it will on anyone else’s. The reduction in “food noise” is a welcome side effect not a key part of the process.

Thanks that what GP said, weight gain around 1-3 stone is normal and I think I’m pretty much end of menopause as haven’t had a bleed in 11 months. Did you come off mounjaro once you lost the additional weight?

It is normal, as in it is common, as cal requirements decrease with age. But we still need to over eat to gain it.

for me. No I’m staying on a maintenance dose to maintain.

YourAmusedSwan · 10/09/2026 17:39

Hi thanks I have read that but it makes eating even harder as I’ve literally no appetite which concerns me. Trying to eat small bits with as much protein as I can. Just need any tips !

When you say you lost ten pounds in a month, how has that looked each week, was there more at tne beginning?

SilenceInside · 10/09/2026 17:46

If you’ve been gaining weight steadily then you would have been eating over maintenance for that period of time, even if it seems like you were eating very little. Are you managing 800 cals a day at the moment, or do you mean less than that?

BalakayAARon · 10/09/2026 17:51

Yes, I was always slim until my late 30's/ early 40's. I have no food noise, never ate much, but couldn't stop gaining weight after my late 30's, certain medications like long-term steroids and a hysterectomy. I gained lots of weight in my pregnancies, but lost that fairly easily as I was in my 20's to 30's.

I admit I probably drank too many wine calories, but I drink the same on mounjaro, lost 7 stone in a year and have maintained the loss (on MJ) for over a year.

It's certainly not simply calorie reduction that makes MJ work for me. There is so much more to it.

Stop using MJ if you cannot eat properly? You will be doing your body fat more harm than good.
