Wegovy August 2026 starters

VillageGirl007 · 31/07/2026 18:11

Hi, couldn't see a thread for August so thought I'd start. I'm totally new to WLI but my first pen has arrived today so guess I won't be new to it for long! I'm just back from holiday and weighing in at 12st 8 which is the heaviest I have ever been. I'm early 40s and have tried so many diets over the years including slimming world which saw me get below 10st but the weight has crept back on over the last few years and I just don't seem to have the mental capacity with a busy family and stressful to job to be able to do it alone. My weight really affects my mental health and I feel so unhappy when I look in the mirror or try to squeeze into clothes that previously fit so that's it really. First jab will be tonight! Any hints or tips greatly received and feel free to join me if anyone else is starting in August!

Hi! I took my first dose on the 29th July so only a few days ahead of you..

How have you found this first week? I was expecting so many side effects with it because you hear so much and honestly, all that's happened has been the odd headache (and I'm due new glasses so think it's more due to that). Genuinely didn't expect the suppression to start so quickly but I'm just not hungry - it's so bizarre to not feel the need to constantly graze or snack.

Started at 11 stone 9 and have already dropped to 11 stone 2. I know this is almost definitely all water weight but it has made me conscious that I need to make sure I'm eating enough if that makes sense?

Hi all, is this thread only for the injections as cannot find anything for the tablets?

Stick0rTwist · 06/08/2026 14:45

Hi all! I’d like to join 😊 I’ve had my first Wegovey injection today (6th August). I’m 35, five foot 3 and 12 stone 5, so a BMI of over 30.

I’d ideally like to get to 9.5 stone, and would like to at least stay on them until Christmas. How are you feeling one week in?

It’s the one in the post just before yours. Not massively busy but I’m in it

VillageGirl007 · 07/08/2026 09:17

Hi everyone! First weeks weigh in today and lost 4lb so I'm happy with that as I feel like it hasn't taken a lot of effort compared to conventional dieting! Will jab again tonight. No real side effects so far which is amazing. I don't feel like it has massively changed my appetite yet, still eating normal meals however snacking has really stopped and I don't seem so obsessed with food!

That's great, fingers crossed I'm the same!

I'm joining as I just ordered yesterday so hopefully will be starting early next week. I've found it really hard to make the decision, but I have a heart condition and with bmi 33 it's really hard to do the exercise that I need to do to keep my heart healthy. I'm 45, 5'7" and 97kg (15st4lb). My pre-kids weight was around 70-75kg and I got back to the lower end of that in 2018 after having my second. Weight has gradually piled on since my heart diagnosis in September 2020. I'm so food obsessed and always hungry, also have adhd and have heard wegovy is good for that too.

VillageGirl007 · 07/08/2026 12:09

@bluebunnybluewelcome! Thank you, hopefully it carries on. Fingers crossed your order arrives quickly and you can get cracking. I felt a wave of relief when I ordered as felt like I'd taken the first step!

I've done my first injection this morning after it sitting in the fridge for 2 weeks. I've just turned 58 and fed up of loosing and then putting back on more than ever each time so have made peace with the idea that I might need it for life. I'm starting at over 18 stone and aiming for 10 stone 7 so a long way to go but fingers crossed that this is the start of something new. I'm fed up of my poor mental health affecting my eating and then my weight affecting my mental health and being stuck in the cycle so I hope that if I can deal with my weight it will help. Onward and downwards!

VillageGirl007 · 08/08/2026 11:01

@Themessinsidemyheadwell done for taking the plunge. Hope you have a good week and no nasty symptoms. I took second jab last night as so far so good although feel exhausted but that could be the long dog walk or the thought of work getting to me!

I have received my injection 3 days ago, nervous to start as go to London in two weeks for a few days so wondering if I should start when I return in case I get side effects.

LuckyHazelFox · 08/08/2026 21:13

Hi all. Took my first jab last Wednesday. I'm mid 50s and sick of the menopausal monthly belly which depresses me. I'm 12 St 6, 5 ft 5. I want to get to 11 stone then see about carrying on to 10 st 7. I'm on the 6 month plan. Have counted calories since last Saturday.

No, and I've been waiting for them. My worst one would be nausea but I have Stemitil, which are fantastic anti nausea tablets that work within 30 mins. I've checked they are OK. I'm registered with Voy and so far so good.

If you're not going for two weeks, I'd start them now.

I'm 5 days in and have lost 2kg, feeling some discomfort when eating and put off food after eating but food noise and cravings still persist! Thankfully no nausea or stomach problems. I assume that will happen as I increase. Following this thread for companionship!

Well done on that loss in five days. I'm taking my second jab on Wednesday and think I've seen a reduction in appetite. I had a thick protein yoghurt earlier but could only eat half of it. No side effects yet.

I've started - took my first dose yesterday. Just starting has shifted my mindset and I was much more mindful about my eating yesterday. Had a little indigestion last night, I get it occasionally but suspect it will become more frequent esp if I get constipated so going to try really hard to keep my water intake high.

I've switched from my usual sparkling to still water. Started Joe Wicks' Menopause strength workout 4 days ago. It's fantastic and hugely motivating.

Another weigh day for me. Have now lost 7lb in the 2 weeks since starting the jab. Really pleased with that. Definitely noticing the suppression in lack of snacking and much smaller evening meal portion. Hope everyone else has a good week.

That's fantastic! I'm losing a few inches but it's not showing on the scales. I think that can be normal. It's my second week but clothes are fitting better. Touch wood, no side effects.

I just took my first dose….

I am 62, morbidly obese most of my adult life, serial weight loser and regainer etc, maximum BMI was 48.5 a good few years ago. At the start of 2024 it was 41.5, and since then I have done a LOT of work on the psychological /emotional stuff, while gradually moving towards a low carb intermittent fasting eating style, virtually no snacking, very little sugar or UPF’s. BMI got to just under 30 in May 2025, and while I’ve been up and down a bit, it has been there or thereabouts ever since. I’ve had type 2 diabetes for 28 years.

So….. while I’m delighted with the improvement in my quality of life and how well I feel, I am also fed up of not making any more progress. My HbA1C is now 45 without meds, having been over 70 on 2 meds. But I believe better is possible, and the key to that, is further weight loss. So, here I am. Aiming to get my BMI to 24 or so, and then hopefully taper off and eventually stop the MJ. Hoping that my new eating style and habits will prevent regain. But of course you never know until you try.

One of the meds I was on for 5 years is Trulicity, which is another GLP-1 specifically for type 2 diabetes. I didn’t have any side effects when I started that, other than a reduced appetite (which didn’t last) so I’m hoping the same is true with MJ. As we head of for a 4-day break in London tomorrow!

Can I ask those of you who have started, what did you feel after you first dose, and how soon? In terms of appetite suppression, lack of food noise, any unpleasant side effects etc.
