Hello everyone, I'm due to start on MJ in the next few days, and I'm feeling nervous!

I've been above size 20 since I was about 14/15 years old. The highest weight I've ever logged was 134kg, about 14 years ago. I'm currently 117kg. I also have issues with my heart caused by Cushing's, type 2 diabetes and PMOS.

In the past few years, I'm yo-yo'd between 125kg and 110kg three times. I know how to lose weight and can do it... but as soon as work gets busy or stressful, I fail and give up. I also have an issue with binge and secret eating.

I went for my annual diabetic review yesterday and the nurse basically used the whole time telling me about going on MJ, because my BMI is over 40 (well, as of yesterday's weigh in, I'm 39. something) and because of my other health conditions. I didn't have to fight for it, or request it.. they're just giving it to me.

Now I'm doing as much reading/ video watching as I can to clue myself up.

On my on-track days, I eat:

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs with some flavouring- chilli flakes or marmite or 15g cheddar.

Lunch: Chicken thigh fillet in some kind of seasoning mix, salad made of lettuce, pepper, tomatoes, cucumber, sugarsnaps, carrot. Sometimes 3 cream crackers and a laughing cow triangle as well.

Dinner: Varies- roast chicken dinner/ 5% fat mince spaghetti bolognese with wholewheat pasta/ beef burger without the bun with cheese, salad on half the plate, usually without chips, noodles with chicken and stirfry veg.

Snacks: Usually a portion of berries/ a nectarine/ cherries/ 25g peanuts at 4pm.

How does that sound?

I have a treadmill and run/walk at 6.5/6km/hr pace for 30 mins three times a week. The nurse said I should do some weights for my arms too.

Any recommendations for which day I should inject?

I’m wondering if everyone has seen this? https://helloregimen.com/tools/tirzepatide-half-life-calculator

In essence, the blood level of the drug peaks 1-2 days after you inject, and the half life (of 5 days for MJ) means that there is still some left in your blood by the time your next jab date comes. So the peak you tech on the 2nd week will be higher than after the first, and higher again after the 3rd.

The blurb on the page I linked says you reach steady state, where the amount your body is clearing each week matches the amount you add in the jab, after 4-5 weeks, but looking at the graph, it looks to me like the peak is not noticeably higher after 3 weeks. So people suffering significant side effects -they shouldn’t get any worse than after your 3rd jab, unless and until you increase your dose. And they may in fact improve before then, even though the peak level is higher as your body gets used to having it on board.

@WhatMaggieDidNext it’s different for everyone. Some people go without feeling n a thing, whereas some others get really bad nausea or tummy pains. Some may still have an appetite, some loose it completely so it’s hard to say. Good luck! I done my third jab yesterday, mild nausea for me and loss of appetite, I am 10 Ilbs down. Started at 14 stone 7 now 13.12

That’s amazing! I so hope this works for me. Menopause has meant a three stone gain, all round my middle and impossible to shift

Belladog1 · 19/08/2026 11:53

I'm kinda regretting sticking at the lowest level for month two, but due to hospital admissions and not eating for days, i figured i hadn't given the jab a fair chance. I received my second pen yesterday and i jab on a Saturday.

But over the last two days I've been really hungry again and my weight has been static all week. I'm not eating copious amounts or 'bad' foods, just back to thinking food all the time again.

Well, it's done now. Another month of the lowest dose. The other reason for not wanting to go up in dosage was, I'm on holiday next week and i had visions of spending it feeling ropey .... and I really do need a fun relaxing break right now.

PrimalScreaming · 19/08/2026 12:35

I'm away for the next two weeks on holiday and I'm going to stop jabs for the duration. I'm on week 3 and it has been my worst so far. So much bloating, gurgling and indigestion. It's been a bit miserable at times so no way do I want that on holiday!

I have been using Boots face to face service and have another appointment with the pharmacist there tomorrow. I'm wondering if I might be better swapping to Wegovey and trying a different med. Has anyone switched one to the other and found it any better / worse for side effects?

That’s very interesting as I felt bad after my third dose and was dreading my 4th at the end of the week. Hopefully after reading this it will be easier.

Biosblbay · 19/08/2026 13:00

@WhatMaggieDidNext it’s so tough being a woman! Periods, hormones, pregnancy, motherhood, perimenopause, menopause…. They can all impact our weight tremendously!! Not to mention the meds that we may take for these things! Good luck, I hope it goes well for you. Most results I have seen are positive!

chocolatecoveredpretzels · 19/08/2026 16:07

I’m waiting for my nurse to call for my first review with her. I get nervous when I have any medical appointment and they’re always so busy, the calls are never on time.

I had a tough evening and morning today and ended up snacking. I’m definitely an emotional overeater. Before MJ, it would take over the full day but I managed to stop after having an apple and cheese, oat bar and a bag of French fries crisps, and decided just to count all that as my lunch instead.

How is everyone doing?

@PuzzledObserver I use an app to log my injection sites and side effects, and was interested to see their graph on estimated amount of the medication in my system. I’ll add a screen grab below.

@chocolatecoveredpretzels I was hungry this morning before the injection and apart from my yoghurt and berries I picked few more fruits and tracked them. I am tired and that's trigger for me. Probably will end up at 17 000 steps. Weights in the morning. Full time work and now I am at the dentist! I am really glad I prepped basics this weekend and meals are easy and I also told my son and husband to look after themselves.

Massive well done for navigating the situation and but letting slip becomes a slide.

PuzzledObserver · 19/08/2026 19:26

@MiaN I hear you…..

I just had a mini panic because I had eaten my main course (home made shepherd’s pie with celeriac topping and green veg) and realised that I wasn’t feeling completely satisfied. Not a problem, as I had planned on having some berries and yogurt anyway, but it felt like I wanted quite a decent portion, not just a few…..

But then I realised it is 5 days since my 1st jab, therefore half the first dose has gone from my bloodstream. So that shows that it has been reducing my appetite!

No need to panic. Just be careful the next few days and make sure I get plenty of good nutritious food in while I’m feeling hungrier - don’t use it as a opportunity to eat crap! I know they tend to quote nutritional requirements per day, but in practice we don’t have to hit those targets every single day - we can have more some days and less others.

WombatCowgirl · 19/08/2026 20:46

The effect definitely waned for me during the week like you @puzzled but in a way it doesn't feel too bad having to exercise some willpower again and giving myself some credit and not just this amazing drug, like learning to ride a bike and having a go without the stabilisers. Plus each week I feel it lasts a little longer, must be that build up of the drug in our systems discussed above!

MiaN · 20/08/2026 06:28

@PuzzledObserver that's very interesting, thanks for sharing

Day after my second jab, I feel little different this time but still good. I just did my short bodyweight exercises and I will head out for my walk. I love the thought that the medication is helping me work on creating healthier habits, it's making it possible for me to do so. Before the shots, every time I try to build strength routine my hunger will spike like crazy. Now I can stick to my plans, I can eat the foods I actually want to eat, I can do my little morning routine without worrying I am going to be like hungry bear in the evening or the day after.

By now the every time I get on the scale it's less ride is over, I am same weight last few days so while it was uplifting to see the quick loses week one - in a way I embrace this more realistic stage. The quick losses are full of false promises to me - I don't want to get unrealistic expectations in my head.

I will be happy with pound loss every week going forward. 2 would be amazing. every so often a 3 would be party time. And by party time - I don't mean pizza party, I may do happy little dance around the kitchen :)

Have a smashing, healthy, side effect free day all!

Hello…. New here. Started 2 weeks ago on Mounjaro 2.5 after months of debating whether to take the plunge or not. (Did the same with HRT and wished I’d done it earlier!)
I’m getting headaches, especially in the first 2-3 days after the dose (Tuesdays for me) and this week I had GI symptoms which was less than fun.
However, I have only the very mildest of suppression, if any. At the moment, I’ve had side effects, but no positive effects! Not a single pound shifted in the past couple of weeks. I’ve been tracking food since well before I started this, and exercising - gym twice a week and walking an hour at least 3 times a week, but largely I just feel ratshit, and am beginning to wonder if this gets any better! The irony is the headaches and tiredness I feel is actually making it harder to get motivated to exercise.
I haven’t read the full thread, sorry (it’s long!) but is anyone in the same boat as me please? I would love to hear that this is worth it!

MiaN · 20/08/2026 14:41

Some people don't get any suppression for first few doses & months :(.

I'm wanting to know the same thing, I felt like absolute shit 2 days after my last jab, which was jab 2 for me. Vomiting, retching, nausea, stomach cramps - had to go to bed for 1.5 days. Does this subside or is this drug just not for me? I'm dreading taking my next dose (due later tonight) if i'm going to feel the same way again! Maybe I need to look on a previous group for answers since we're all newbies?

Good shout….
And good luck if you decide on dose 3! I’m dreading it too. I’m starting a new job and can’t afford to be unwell next week 🫣

RemakeRemodel · 20/08/2026 20:38

Day 4. Definitely have appetite suppression - haven't been counting calories but just eating less and no real food noise. Just totted up today's calories in myfitnesspal and it's about 1000.

MiaN · 21/08/2026 05:01

There are several long running threads - lose x more then x amount of weight, that are good for advise.

I need to start taking note on what exercises I do every morning - I am trying to pick up a Les Mills BodyPump Heavy track (and don't use that heavy weights, slowly building up. But I don't remember what I did few days ago and I want to hit all major groups and give legs good break in between

I bought two pairs of trousers from expensive brand recently, both are lose! Good complain but I wish I knew things will get better soon.

W2D3 (week two day three). I seem to sleep great one night, awful the next in rotation since on the jabs. But I get by! I ate a lot of fruit yesterday, and hit my protein (chicken, greek yoghurt, cottage cheese) and my energy was really good. I will try to repeat same today

Swimthatloch · 21/08/2026 06:27

Hi all can I join in? Been putting off WLI for over a year but hearing so many positive stories from people I know or stories of friends of friends I have bitten bullet as I need a shift up in my weight loss (and a kick up the butt) - over past 3 years I have very slowly lost solidly 2 stone and the other stone I loose , put back on slowly, loose etc and it’s so slow. I’m 58 and short so here is my weigh in for today and my Wegovy has been dispatched so I hope to start Saturday night - I’m going to use Fridays as my weigh in day as that is my current habit!
5foot 1
SW : 11.0 stone (69.8kg) - 29.1 bmi
GW: 9stone 4lb (59.6 kg) - 24.6 bmi
my downfalls are snacking, a tin of larger in evening and not upping my protein intake- on positive I know I loose weight using my loose it app and I swim 5x week , walk lots and over past month taken up strength training.

Anyway that is me - quietly petrified but I’m determined.

MiaN · 21/08/2026 06:51

Welcome @swimthatloch . We are friendly and supportive bunch. I tool ages to decide so I can understand the hesitation

Blushingviolets · 21/08/2026 10:07

@Swimthatloch I can completely sympathise with losing and regaining that same stone. Hi everyone! I’ve been reading your thread over the last week and it’s helped me take the plunge. First jab yesterday and I think I can already notice the appetite suppression. I’m normally starving after a morning workout but, although I can feel my body is hungry, I mentally struggled to make myself make and eat my breakfast.

On the one hand this feels promising, but I also tend to make sure it’s a good protein set up for the day so I’m a bit worried about that too!

WhatMaggieDidNext · 21/08/2026 11:02

Day three here and already noticing the suppression. Also not really being bothered about drinking. DH opened a bottle of wine last night and I had one glass. Usually we’d finish the bottle between us with me drinking faster than him.
Something else I’ve noticed is my internal chatter (not just food related) seems to have been switched off! Has anyone else noticed this? It’s lovely to have a quiet mind for once!

VanillaSunsetVibes · 21/08/2026 11:06

Hey all do you mind me joining too 🥰 i have my pen in the fridge ready to take tonight!

Really hoping this will work i feel rubbish at rhe moment. Feel like i want me back. We had a hard fertility journey. I put on 2 stone during the 4 years of trying and went up to 11stone 4 - confort eating. Finally had our twins first try via ivf however i was really unwell afterwards and then went up to 13 stone. I lost nearly 2 stone through healthy eating last year and fasting and got to 11.2 and have put some more back and now sit at 11st 12. Trying everything but cant stick to anything find life gets in the way and I end up snacking in the night and just getting nowhere. I strenth train with heavy weights twice a week and run intermittently but i want to be lighter. Hoping this is the tool to help me battle that 🙏🏻 just started a new job where I need to be physically fit and badass so need something to help 😊 x

PuzzledObserver · 21/08/2026 11:57

Morning all….. this thread is already getting to be one of my addictions, I get a little dopamine spike when I see there are new messages and a sense of disappointment when there are none! So, welcome to the recent joiners, it’s great to have you.

Today will be my second jab. I did it at 5pm last week (cos the pen arrived early afternoon and we had visitors, so I lobbed it in the fridge and waited till they’d gone). My plan is to inject later this evening, and then over the next few weeks to move my injection back 12 hours at a time until I’m injecting on Sunday evening.

Why? Because what I’d like to do to shift this weight is to go back to regular planned fasting, which is how I lost most of it 2 years ago. I’m a life member of an online therapeutic fasting program for type 2 diabetes and weight loss, but over the last year or so I have lost my mojo for doing longer fasts. I’m looking to MJ to give me that mojo back for as long as it takes to get to a healthy BMI/size I’m happy with. And then I would scale back the fasting to reach stability, and scale back the MJ along with it.

Well, that’s my ideal plan anyway - what happens in practice may be different.

I’ve also been reading on other threads about click counting to give yourself a smaller dose. Have figured out that with my supplier (Curely), if I used a 5mg pen to give myself 5 doses of 4mg rather than 4 doses of 5mg, it will work out cheaper per dose than the 2.5mg starter dose. More effect for less money, sounds good to me. And in fact I’ve seen plenty of people say they keep the pen in the fridge and use it for longer than the recommended 30 days. So maybe could take 8x 2.5mg doses from a 5mg pen.

I am determined to use as much as I need but no more.

Regarding weight….. I’ll report based on it being one week today, even though I didn’t jab till 5pm. Using trendweight.com to do a moving average, I am down 3.2lb in the first week, with 36.1lb to go to goal, aka just over 2 1/2 stone. In raw scale weight, it’s over 6lb! I think a lot of that is water, though - I have been peeing for England, and it’s not because of high blood glucose, because that has been absolutely stellar. So I guess that’s some inflammation leaving, and although I’m not aware of it physically, it can only be a good thing, I think.

Cheesecake53 · 21/08/2026 12:48

Welcome @VanillaSunsetVibes I also jab every Friday. It is truly brilliant when the food noise vanishes and the senseless eating around stops!
