Hello everyone, I'm due to start on MJ in the next few days, and I'm feeling nervous!

I've been above size 20 since I was about 14/15 years old. The highest weight I've ever logged was 134kg, about 14 years ago. I'm currently 117kg. I also have issues with my heart caused by Cushing's, type 2 diabetes and PMOS.

In the past few years, I'm yo-yo'd between 125kg and 110kg three times. I know how to lose weight and can do it... but as soon as work gets busy or stressful, I fail and give up. I also have an issue with binge and secret eating.

I went for my annual diabetic review yesterday and the nurse basically used the whole time telling me about going on MJ, because my BMI is over 40 (well, as of yesterday's weigh in, I'm 39. something) and because of my other health conditions. I didn't have to fight for it, or request it.. they're just giving it to me.

Now I'm doing as much reading/ video watching as I can to clue myself up.

On my on-track days, I eat:

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs with some flavouring- chilli flakes or marmite or 15g cheddar.

Lunch: Chicken thigh fillet in some kind of seasoning mix, salad made of lettuce, pepper, tomatoes, cucumber, sugarsnaps, carrot. Sometimes 3 cream crackers and a laughing cow triangle as well.

Dinner: Varies- roast chicken dinner/ 5% fat mince spaghetti bolognese with wholewheat pasta/ beef burger without the bun with cheese, salad on half the plate, usually without chips, noodles with chicken and stirfry veg.

Snacks: Usually a portion of berries/ a nectarine/ cherries/ 25g peanuts at 4pm.

How does that sound?

I have a treadmill and run/walk at 6.5/6km/hr pace for 30 mins three times a week. The nurse said I should do some weights for my arms too.

Any recommendations for which day I should inject?

@BraOffPjsOn How often is everyone weighing?
I’m going to find it hard not to do daily at this stage!

I’ll continue what I have been doing - weigh daily, but instead of the raw scale weight, pay attention to the moving average, which is calculated automatically for me (cos the scale is Wi-Fi enabled) on a website called trendweight. Only I’m away at the moment, so can’t see the immediate effects as my first jab was the evening before we left. Home on Wednesday, though.

Now 3 days since my first jab, and I seem to have swerved any side effects, for which I’m very grateful. So far I would say the effects have been to reduce my portion sizes somewhat, and to make it effortless to do what I was already aiming to do - no sugar, minimal UPF’s generally and no eating between meals. I have been doing that most of the time for ages, but with effort, iykwim.

I know it’s different being away from home - you get the food that’s on the plate and no opportunity to pick and nibble like there is at home. But I haven’t wanted to.

MiaN · 18/08/2026 05:45

I weight in daily but the weight in day is = injection day. Can't believe 6 days are gone already, it has been fairly easy ride so far but my energy is lower then I like it to be. I may try to eat few hundred calories more every day but it's hard to do mentally as I spend so long dreaming of not being so hungry! Average calories about 1470 so far this week.

I guess the prosecco & crisps on the night out didn't help my energy either. I felt off next day

Biosblbay · 18/08/2026 07:08

Just done my third weighing, third jab due this evening on 2.5, I started at 14 stone 7, I am now 13 stone 12! If I am correct that is 10 Ilbs down In 3 weeks, and I haven’t even started exercising yet!

Hope everyone is doing well and impressed with their results so far. So excited to see everyone’s results by Christmas, what a time to feel good about yourself as well. We’ve got this! X

You are the same weights as me. I took my 4th jab last Saturday. I'm happy with these losses as I'm going for the slow and steady approach. I read that that's better for things like hair loss ... but that could be rubbish! So I'm staying with the lowest dose for month two.

The lady above asking how often you weigh yourself .... I generally do it daily but I only log it on the app weekly, on a Monday.

Quink · 18/08/2026 07:39

Well done! I understand wanting to weight every day, it’s so tempting. I usually weigh on a Friday (so I get the benefits of a good week before trashing it at the weekend!) but my jab day is Monday so will try to stick to just the two check-ins.

ChrainChrip · 18/08/2026 07:59

I've been debating adding my results, since they are so unimpressive compared to everyone else, but I've done my fourth injection now and have lost only 2 kg.

On the plus side, no side effects, feeling really well, sleeping well. I'm going up to 3.75 next, so maybe more impressive results will start then? Also, that small loss has brought me from obese into merely overweight 😀

MiaN · 18/08/2026 09:05

It's rather exciting to think about what my weight could be around Christmas, but I am trying to think pound or two a week as the first week every time I go on the scale, it's lower. I know this is due to stop in week two so trying to gear for it and hope for pound loss! My first weight in was just before my period and I am usually at least 1kg up this week, so that accounts for some of the quick loss and also water weight I bet - but on the scale 6 days in I am 3kg down.

I was trying to eat protein in the morning but will give it a rest today and eat when I am hungry. If it's in the morning, great - but I expect it will be after 11:30 so early lunch is more likely.

MiaN · 18/08/2026 09:07

I developed fear of strength as every time I start strength training my hunger will spike like crazy an I end up overeating. It's fantastic to be able to do some weights every single morning without impact on my hunger. I am really grateful for that and I hope it lasts.

MabelMoo23 · 18/08/2026 13:22

Week 3 jab and after no real side effects, the nausea has started to ramp up.

I took the advice I saw on tik tok (of all places) and have just had cold protein for lunch and even then I’m struggling to finish it.

I’m also so tired as well

I knew two weeks of hardly any side effects was too good to be true!

Ringonrighthand · 18/08/2026 15:34

I have been watching as I started on 7th August so I have done two jabs and the nausea is kicking my butt these last two days! Currently drinking peppermint tea and nibbling on a ginger nut biscuit to try to not be sick at work! Hope this doesn't last too long. 😩

RemakeRemodel · 18/08/2026 17:27

DH and I just started this week. I'm starting at 5'10 and 115kg, so I have quite a bit to lose to get to <80kg. DH has got a bit less to lose than me but he is still hoping to lose 15-20kg or so I think.

So far, so good. I'm just not hungry. I thought I'd be not hungry in a nauseous way but I'm just not hungry - like I've already eaten even if I haven't. I've had to make myself eat a little - yoghurt for breakfast, some hummus and oatcakes for lunch. Feel OK so far though.

DH is more achy and nauseous. He also couldn't sleep - whereas I had the opposite problem and fell asleep in front of the TV at 9pm.

We've got a friend coming for dinner so I'm making mezze and salads and everyone can just take as much or as little as they want.

PuzzledObserver · 18/08/2026 18:07

Personally I think it’s wise not to push yourself to eat when you’re not hungry. The idea that we have to eat three times a day is a modern notion. When our metabolism and digestive system were evolving, we did not have 24/7 access to food like we do now. Barring certain medical conditions, we are well able to go many hours, and even days, with no ill effects, and there are distinct metabolic benefits in doing so. But most of us have got out of the habit of that, and the biological mechanisms which support it have got rusty through lack of use.

One exception would be if you are never, ever hungry….. if that happens on GLP-1s when it didn’t before, my hunch is that the dose is too high.

But then I speak as an ardent intermittent faster and low carb eater - low carb making it easier to go long periods without eating, Since 2024 I have rarely eaten more than twice a day. I don’t intend to start now I’m on MJ.

BraOffPjsOn · 18/08/2026 19:20

Today has been ok - I don’t usually do breakfast and then had a pretty plain prawn salad for lunch. We went for a walk and I felt a bit like I might be hungry so had a handful of pistachios for something easy with protein.
Tonight I’m having a chicken skewer, some micro protein grains and med veg. It’ll be my first proper meal since the first jab on Sunday and I feel like I’ll be disappointed if I can eat it all.

I feel like in my head I’m not getting the food noise so much but my stomach is having the hunger pangs a bit although they feel a bit muffled.

WhatMaggieDidNext · 18/08/2026 19:22

I’m starting tomorrow on 2.5 and I’m excited but a little bit nervous! Can anyone suggest breakfast ideas please? I don’t usually have breakfast as a rule but I understand it’s important to eat regularly to stave off side effects.

MiaN · 18/08/2026 19:35

eggs & egg whites with vegetables
greek yoghurt and fruit

MabelMoo23 · 18/08/2026 20:46

Yes you should try and front load your protein so if you struggle later on in the day you’ve got some calories down you

I have high protein granola, Greek yoghurt and fruit and it sets me up well

BeverleyMakka · 18/08/2026 21:37

@WhatMaggieDidNext Most days I tend to have natural or Greek yogurt with low sugar granola. I’ve been putting chia seeds in the yogurt, started off with half a teaspoon and have now gone up to 1 tsp a day

Glad to have you joining us @WhatMaggieDidNext !
Depends what you like really.
i have oats, chia and Greek Yoghurt and berries most days. But I sometimes have boiled eggs (or eggs whatever way I like) and just 1 slice toast. I also like grain toast with cottage cheese. Occasionally I will have a protein shake ( like this morning - Wed am here).

As for me - the 2.5 dose continues to have no side effects for me - except my sleep for a couple of days after jab is awful. Hunger is dulled but still there. Will see if any impact on next weigh in on the weekend.

WhatMaggieDidNext · 18/08/2026 21:54

Thank you. Will do first jab in the morning and see how things go. Do some of you just have plain scramble eggs? If you add chia seeds how much would you add to two or three eggs?

Have you had chia before? If not start small (1tsp) . I fold in 1 Tablespoon. Some people get cramping if fibre is upped too quickly.

MiaN · 19/08/2026 05:10

W1 - 2.5kg.

I will be honest 1kg of that is time of the month situation, and probably little more. I will be very happy with 0.5 week two, and delighted with 1kg and will shoot for that.

I tack calories and managed to get about 24g of fibre average and 117 protein, and do at least at least 5 minutes of strenght every morning, some days more. I will be happy if I repeat same.

I injected after lunch, I may stick with that.

WhatMaggieDidNext · 19/08/2026 08:36

Just injected for the first time - found it really easy and painless!
Starting stats:
H: 5ft 4
SW: 11st 8.5
GW 9st 6

How long does it take to feel the effects after the first dose?

MiaN · 19/08/2026 08:51

I felt the effects in 1 hour but its hugely different for different people

Biosblbay · 19/08/2026 09:14

@WhatMaggieDidNext it’s different for everyone. Some people go without feeling n a thing, whereas some others get really bad nausea or tummy pains. Some may still have an appetite, some loose it completely so it’s hard to say. Good luck! I done my third jab yesterday, mild nausea for me and loss of appetite, I am 10 Ilbs down. Started at 14 stone 7 now 13.12

MiaN · 19/08/2026 09:31

I am hungry this morning, 8th day so I will be jabbing later. Glad I had some greek yoghurt and berries in the office!
