I'm going to have to go back on, but I cant afford it and the health anxiety over the risk of pancreatitis is horrible.

I cannot believe just how fast im gaining weight.

I'm going to be a lifer I think.

7.5 isn't there a big risk using the medication over 30 days after opening?

I don’t think there’s a “big” risk no, especially if kept in the fridge. You could build yourself slowly back
up to 7.5mg and buy 15mg ones but use over 2 months, that would halve your costs.

gemma76wh · 26/07/2026 14:46

Well not quite halve as I know a 15mg is more expensive.

pambeesleyhalpert · 26/07/2026 14:54

Oh op I’m sorry. It’s not just the jabs tho it’s your mum dying! That’s going to be playing a huge part xx

Tinahowls · 26/07/2026 14:55

MissCooCooMcgoo · 26/07/2026 14:40

No. Why?

Because you say you haven’t left the house in more than 4 months. Surely the person you live with is bedsides themselves with worry?

MissCooCooMcgoo · 26/07/2026 14:56

I have a friend nagging me constantly to get back on weighing and logging things on nutracheck.

I'm annoyed at him, as he lost 8 stone on MJ then had a sleeve and seems to think it's super easy for everyone to be off the jabs.

Are you wfh?

could this be boredom eating of you haven’t left your home in more than 4 months?

I have left the house, but only for things I have to do. Like the school run, or shopping for my grandad.

I don't think DH has really noticed TBH, he has his own shit going on. Its not like I'm bed rotting. I'm doing stuff, just not outside the house.

Ok so I read I havent left the house for much since the 10th of March. and took it seriously. But going to the office, doing school runs, visiting relatives, going to the shops - all very normal and means you’re out loads

Yeah alright smart arse. I havent left the house for anything where I can possibly do it inside the house instead. Better?

Calm down!!

My point was - if you haven’t left the house a lot of it could be boredom eating

Hangry?

Zempy · 26/07/2026 15:05

I will definitely be on it long term.

Watermelonaddict · 26/07/2026 15:10

Give yourself a break. Your mum has died and you’re in deep shock and grieving. A very hard time to try and be self disaplined. Go back on WLI and try again to come off when you’re in a better place. You’ve done amazingly to loose so much weight xx

Hey OP.
Firstly, I'm so sorry for your loss. My Mum died unexpectedly 4 years ago, so I know how much it can blindside you.

I'm currently on Wegovy after losing a bunch of weight on Mounjaro and piling it all back on again. So far I've lost 1.2 stone, still a good while to go yet.

I spoke to someone who gave me some good advice - that I don't need tips on keeping the weight off as I already know that. I need tips on motivation and self discipline. That's really helped shift how I look at it.
For me, one is my kids. I need to be healthy for them. I want to be the active kind of parent who gets up, plays, kicks a ball around with them, takes them out often etc.
Another is my health. It sucks. I really want to get better, and losing weight helped massively last time.
I keep a diary of mini, easy to achieve goals which add up over time, with rewards for myself when I've completed X amount (not good related, because once I start that I'll never stop).

There are some good self help webinars you can join, too. They're really good for bad days where you need someone rooting for you and cheering you on.
Good luck!

AWomanOfWealthAndTaste · 26/07/2026 15:14

So sorry about your mum OP. In my experience people's eating habits changing when they're grieving isn't that unusual. Have seen people both gain and lose quite a bit of weight in that situation. It's bloody hard.

darkandgloomy · 26/07/2026 15:22

Sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in March, and have all the admin to deal with - funeral, house, probate etc. I'm on wagovy having changed from mounjaro due to cost, and I've not lost anything in this time. My motivation for losing weight has gone but I'm just seeing it as a blip that I can turn around in a few months time when I'm in a better head space.

Mine says 6 weeks.

SummerSummerSummertime · 26/07/2026 15:31

Op can you get a PT instead and lift weights?
I came off in Feb after losing 3.5 st and haven’t put any on.

I’m still not drinking alcohol (mostly)
I’m lifting weights regularly - this helps me keep focus, feel stronger, see progress and changes the way my body burns calories.
I come back to mfp if I need to - work out your TDEE and eat 500 cals less
Focus on protein and fibre.
Drink 2lts of water a day

These things have kept the weight off for me.

I’m so sorry about your mum. Don’t blame yourself. You can do it Xx

Me too. All the waiting (still waiting for letters of administration because the silly woman died intestate) is just making me feel like I am in limbo and unable to start anything else.

Read Weight Less by Dr Rocio Salazar-Whalen.

It's unrealistic to expect WLI to "cure" obesity, a chronic disease for many people, when you come off them.

Maybe for the few people who have gained weight unexpectedly after a short term issue. But for those of us who've always been fat, it's like stopping blood pressure meds and expecting to be cured.

I'm nowhere near goal weight yet, but I'm expecting to be on a maintenance dose of some sort for life.

(Sorry about your mum. You have too much to deal with and it's not fair.)

I'm going to be a lifer I think.

Recently, a UK nutritionist did some research on GLP1 users and what they ate. Surprise, surprise, not enough protein, fibre, vitamins etc.
Not enough protein causes the body to lose muscle in addition to fat. I dn't think its taken seriously enough, but muscle is fundamental in maintaining a healthy metabolism and improving longevity; losing it reduces your BMR - body’s resting metabolic rate. Forget the aesthetics, think longevity ( all cause mortality rates etc) and sustainability in your weight staying off. So it is no surprise weight regain can happen. Forget willpower, it’s science. People need more protein and improved habits but the more nuscle you have, the easier it is to keep weight off. Check out the study mbk.life/pages/experts

ohthermo · 27/07/2026 00:08

OP, I think you need to be kinder to yourself. 3 or 4 months ago your mum died suddenly - something so shocking is bound to impact your eating one way or another.

If you can, restart the jabs and give yourself some breathing room while you are at the hardest part of your grief. You might find that coming off them at a later point once you’ve started to adjust to your mum’s loss, might be easier. I think right now, you just need to survive and get through the days. I lost my mum suddenly several years ago too - I understand the horror of it all. I wish you well.

SilenceInside · 27/07/2026 00:09

It’s an interesting study but it had 38 participants and the data collected was for 1 to 3 days of food and was self reported. And the authors are promoting a protein supplement.

justasmalltownmum · 27/07/2026 00:10

This has happened to 2 other people I know too.
