It is so hard to eat in this weather 😫 between the appetite suppression and heat I just don’t want to cook, but my teen boys’ appetites don’t appear to be at all diminished so I have to 😫😫

I feel your pain! I really struggle to cook for my teenagers when it’s this hot and I’m also not remotely hungry!

This heat! 🫠My teenagers are eating nothing but picnic food straight out of the fridge. But one of them wants to do some baking this evening 🥵 😭

So a combination of deliberately trying to eat smaller portions and the heat affecting my appetite means that the plateau is over!

I’m 9 stone 7 pounds 😱. BMI 22.8 😱
I’ve never been this weight. Obviously I passed through it at one point, probably as a young teenager, but I’ve never in my memory been 9 stone-something.

I feel this! I don’t have kids but I have a boyfriend and last night I just said “help yourself mate, I can’t face cooking anything”🤣🤣

3rd jab today, 2kgs down! Really happy. Suppresion was v strong this week. Most days getting to 1000 cals was difficult…!

Beachforever · 10/07/2026 10:31

@thepittfan I can’t eat much at all on peak suppression days so I try to look at my weekly calories as opposed to daily calories. I eat as much as I can on days 1-2 and 6-7 as I know that I will be eating very little on days 3-5.

Days 3-5 I eat just protein and salad/veg. Definitely no carbohydrates otherwise I fill up too quickly.

My weekly update….

I’m on week 12. I’m still losing (total loss 9kg) and don’t want to any more but struggling to find my maintenance dose. It’s only about 0.5kg per week. It’s hard to find maintenance dose with the bloody boiling weather putting me off eating anything!

I’m thinking of spacing my jabs out longer than 1 week instead of reducing the dose to see if that helps. All I want is to stay at the weight I’m at and keep the benefits of reduced inflammation, no peri symptoms and easier periods.

Officially joining you all as I’ve taken my first dose tonight. It was prescribed mid June but I had a holiday booked and I decided to wait for that.

The injection was totally painless although it took me half an hour to work up the courage. I had eleventy billion rounds of IVF AND gestational diabetes but I’m still incredibly phobic of needles and the pen visually reminds me of one of the really stingy IVF medications. But I got there in the end.

Intrigued to see what happens next. Starting BMI is 26.7 and I’m hoping to get back to somewhere between 22 and 23.

OnTheTop · 11/07/2026 08:52

@AmIReallyTheGrownupwell done on getting started.

@BeachforeverI’m thinking similarly re finding my way with maintenance.

AnotherPidgey · 11/07/2026 11:39

My starting weigh in (admittedly inflated by being afternoon) was 67.5kg and this morning was 64.85.

It's good getting some downward trends starting!

I'd just reached the point of being fed up of no lasting positive trends from trying to make positive choices.

Last year I did well in the spring and autumn, lost a couple of kgs and then back to square one for things like going on holiday and Christmas despite not being particularly excessive. This year I seem to have been gaining for no obvious input/ output changes, plus my running pace has been struggling and lots of niggles. I'm hoping that shedding some spare kg will help with that.

I'm keeping up my weight lifting and creatine to hopefully keep my muscle mass.

snowgirl1 · 12/07/2026 01:48

Oh can I join this thread? My BMI is 25.2 and I've got my first prescription of Wegovy (due to osteoarthritis in my toes) which I'm planning to take Monday morning. I'd heard suppression eases towards the end of the week and I cycle about 75km on Sundays and need to be able to eat to fuel.

A few months ago I posted on another WLI thread about being disappointed at being rejected for WLI (I didn't realise my osteoarthritis would make a difference to application) and was basically told eat less & exercise more, so I'm glad to have found this thread. Even though I'm only just into the overweight BMI, I feel very overweight.

OnTheTop · 12/07/2026 10:13

Jab 13 today.

I’ve lost more than a stone. Unbelievable! I’m aiming to stick around this weight - 9 stone 7 lb.

Proteinpudding · 13/07/2026 09:35

@snowgirl1 the 'eat less move more' mantra is so dull, as if it were that simple, no one would be overweight! And even if it were simple to do in practice, there's more evidence that our bodies are clever enough to fight weight loss, it's a survival technique after all.

Proteinpudding · 13/07/2026 09:38

Little update from me

Starting weight- 64kg approx
Current weight - 59.7kg
I lost count of my jabs slightly, but think it's number 8 due today, still taking 0.25mg wegovy.

New poster, sorry for the boring q, I can start a new thread but thought here might be people with the knowledge I need.
BMI 27.3 have been absolutely static since having a baby 4 years ago and so fed up. I don’t think I have another condition, but I don’t measure my BP so probably wouldn’t know.

where is the best pharmacy to go to for a private prescription ?
many thanks!

AmIReallyTheGrownup · 13/07/2026 13:47

I took my first jab on Friday evening. Side effects are very minimal. On Saturday afternoon I was bone tired and weirdly my gag reflex is very strong.

The most curious thing has been the new and complete absence of interest in food. It’s hard to describe how strange it is. My tummy grumbles occasionally but it’s not accompanied by hunger. I’ve got to consciously decide to eat.

I’m determined to lose weight not muscle so I have been eating lots of protein and fibre, even if not hungry. In 3 days I’ve lost 3 pounds.

Probably depends what you mean by best?
Ie - most likely to prescribe for you at your weight, or cheapest, or most support?

Thanks for the reply. Good question. I think someone that will prescribe it is a priority. Not sure I’m that bothered about the support, I’m a healthy eater, I’m just not losing. Price is not too much of an issue, but obviously I don’t want to overspend unnecessarily

Proteinpudding · 13/07/2026 14:29

@holymolybalamory the most likely to prescribe would be voy or Medexpress if you're in the UK, to my knowledge they're the only ones that will prescribe 'off label', ie outside of the guidelines for use. Do check for yourself but as far as I understand, the general guidance is BMI 30+, or 27-30 with at least one health related weight condition. Some providers seem to have a broad definition of what a health related weight condition is (eg menopause, arthritis) others are more strict, eg blood pressure, sleep apnea.

So if you're not likely to meet the guidance, voy or ME are probably your best bet. They do tend to be more expensive, though from what I've read in here (not tried it yet myself) is that once you've got a prescription, you are then likely to be accepted by other providers to switch, even if you wouldn't have met their original criteria. So it's likely you could switch to someone cheaper in future

If you do look at voy, feel free to DM me for a referral link/code - though if so, check if it's better/worse than any 'new customer' offer they have (given that you can't apply more than one discount)

Learningdutch · 13/07/2026 15:43

I use Superdrug because I can collect from the store. Think it was 30% off first order. My bmi was about 27.

holymolybalamory · 13/07/2026 15:56

Thanks @Proteinpudding

is that off label @Learningdutch?

Kernowgirl183 · 14/07/2026 08:18

One week in and I've just done my second 0.5mg Mounjaro injection (I'm with Healand clinic as my BMI was below 25).

I've lost 2lb this week, going from 8st 13lb to 8st 11lb (55.7kg), so I'm pleased with that.

I did have some wine at the weekend, which probably didn't help the weight loss, but there were a couple of positives: I stopped after two glasses (very unlike me!) and, even more encouraging, I didn't reach for the crisps afterwards.

My PT session on Friday felt harder than usual. I got out of breath much more easily and I've been quite tired this week. Other than that, I've had no noticeable side effects.

I'm due to increase to 1mg next week, but I'm actually considering staying on 0.5mg. I only have 12–13lb to lose to get back to where I want to be, so I'm not sure I need to rush up the doses.

One really unexpected thing - my shoulder pain, which is one of my more annoying perimenopause symptoms, has pretty much disappeared. No idea if it's connected to the Mounjaro or just a coincidence, but I'll happily take it!

midwalker · 14/07/2026 10:39

I had incredibly strong suppression on 1mg @Kernowgirl183, I could barely eat some days. I only had 10lb to lose and I lost it all (and then some) in about 6 weeks. I am now experimenting with 0.5mg but spacing it out longer than weekly, and that seems to be better for improving appetite but maintaining some of the other benefits. I’d bet that the shoulder pain is absolutely gone as a result of MJ!

Eek I’ve ordered but they want a video call, is that normal? What can I expect?

I had a video call with Medexpress and found it fine - gave me a chance to ask questions about risks; side effects and frequency. I can't even remember what I was asked by the GP on the video call.

holymolybalamory · 14/07/2026 11:08

Eek I’ve ordered but they want a video call, is that normal? What can I expect?

It's pretty common now. I had to show my face (presume to match the ID I had uploaded) and full length in a mirror (in regular clothes) and weighing myself on the scale. Then a chat about why I was trying the meds, my weight history, what I'd tried etc.

Proteinpudding · 14/07/2026 13:36

I realised I made a very expensive mistake yesterday!
I was rushing to do my jab before work as had been away at the weekend when it was due. Without thinking took the pen out the fridge, then afterwards realised that that was a new delivery last week, and I had an only recently opened pen in the bathroom cupboard! I had been splitting my current dose (I now have two 0.5mg wegovy pens and had been staying on 0.25mg) Now I'll need to decide whether to throw one away, or up my dose after all. 8 weeks is the limit that I'd be willing to use one since 'opened'.
