@Tauranga I have counted calories, but I was doing so when trying to lose weight before the jabs. It isn't necessary to lose weight on WLI, as the jabs should help you eat in a calorie deficit regardless. I wanted to do so, so that when I hopefully come off them I know what worked and what I need to aim for. It has been a bit of an eye opener how low I needed to go to actually lose, and explains why I never had success before!

RubyTraybake · 29/07/2026 20:28

I think it depends how strong your suppression is, I could easily eat 2000 calories a day on the jabs and not lose anything. In the past month I’ve counted calories to eat 1400 a day and I’ve lost more quickly. Still hungry but nothing like when I was trying by myself.

Proteinpudding · 29/07/2026 20:33

Actually that's a really good point. The aim of WLI is that your hunger is reduced enough that you eat in a calorie deficit without having to consciously think about it. But it depends on how well you respond to the drugs, and presumably how strong your natural internal hunger signals are to start with.

Also it sounds obvious, but it's possible to eat when you're not hungry! I realised that there were times I was reaching for snacks out of habit and had to remind myself that it was just habit, and either not to have them or just have a taste - eg when sitting down to watch a film.

kljdslhs877 · 29/07/2026 20:51

I definitely could have lost weight MUCH faster if I calorie counted, it took me about 6 months to lose 20lb, but I went on the jabs because I didn’t want to diet any more.

Tauranga · 29/07/2026 22:14

Thank you, I see what you all mean. So I think I will calorie count for the first week to see, but not very detailed. Then I will see how I do.

I am concerned that I feel sick so I might eat loads to stop it!!

(I took it today)

socks1107 · 29/07/2026 22:22

I feel so much better having skipped a dose today. I will take tablet 4 tomorrow. The heat, commute and nausea nearly did me in yesterday and this morning when I weighed I was up 200 grams 🤦🏻‍♀️🫣. I’ve still had some suppression today same as yesterday and ate 1350 calories over the day with lots of water. Hoping the heat reduction tmrw makes things a little better

AmIReallyTheGrownup · 30/07/2026 10:39

I’m very loosely calorie counting to make sure I stay somewhere between 1500 and 1800 a day (am tall & active) as I don’t want to go too low.

I’m towards the end of week 3 and I’ve finally reached a comfortable level of suppression on 2.5mg. Two nights this week I’ve really only picked at my dinner vs wolfing the lot.

Does anyone else get a tummy that rumbles away whilst not feeling the least bit hungry? This is quite an odd sensation.

Tauranga · 30/07/2026 11:37

I have just taken it, last night, but I wanted to ask you all a question..( again!).

I am fat for me but friends say I'm not. I am fat as I had a couple of prolonged instances where I was stressed, and so I ate rubbish, sugary rubbish. I made pancakes and cakes for the family and we all stress ate.

I have super healthy meals, but then eat a big packet of sweets to myself. I am a sugar addict.

In the past I could just stop for a while and get back to acceptable weight but not at my advanced age!

Does Mountjorno help me not crave sugar? I eat them because I like them and not because I m hungry. !!!

AnotherPidgey · 30/07/2026 11:56

I've found that I'm more connected with hunger without the mental distraction to eat something random for the sake of it. I then find that I feel full quicker so eat smaller portions so am overall eating less and not undoing sensible meal choices with a random impulse to eat another 150 calories here or there.

I'm hungry, but it's generally not bothering me, it's just a fact. The only downside is waking feeling hungry in the night disturbing my sleep which is irritating, but not enough to make me go to the fridge (I find babybel good if I am too ravenous as it's quite clean on teeth)

My hunger is up this week, but it's my hormonally hungry phase anyway and I am eating less than I normally would through that, particularly being home for school holidays.

Thank you, this is a great explanation. I will stock up on some baby 🔔

Jab #5 done. Last week my Thursday was rather hectic so did it on Friday, but with being hungrier, I've done it back on my usual day.

RubyTraybake · 30/07/2026 14:19

I’m feeling hungry today and thinking of increasing my dose as I’m losing very slowly but I’m also not suffering any side effects that caused me to quit the jabs earlier this year so I know the sensible thing to do is to stay on 5mg and be patient.
I’ve found I can’t really drink alcohol at all which is good for calories but a bit depressing when I’m going on holiday next week and I do enjoy a drink in the evenings!

BlondieQueen · 30/07/2026 18:21

Had my first dose of WeGovy today, was scary injecting for the first time! When can I expect side effects to start? Also appetite suppression? I’ve just eaten a load of junk after work, not a great start Blush

I started yesterday at 8pm ( mountjorno) and today I ate but didn't feel hungry. I had to eat and did, but totalled 1000 calories which is way way lower than normal, and if I had done this on a diet I would have been starving, but I wasn't.

No idea if I will feel sick in the next few days...hope not!
Good luck to you x

Exciting! I started mounjaro 5 wks ago and found it took about 2-3 days for suppresion to kick in. Side effects have mainly been comstipation for me - need to up my fibre a lot, so can’t comment too much on that!

trying29 · 31/07/2026 08:32

I was on mounjaro for 3 months last year, and went back on it 2 months ago. I am only microdosing but I am finding this time I cannot tolerate much dairy at all. is anyone having this side effect?

thepittfan · 31/07/2026 08:32

Just took my 6th jab, still on 1mg. As of today I’ve lost 6.4kg, no major side effects but need to get more fibre in me. Considering taking some phyllium husk to help me along as I’m struggling to poo (TMI, sorry!!) starting 1.5mg next week so will be intriguing to see what’s next. 9.9kg to go!

My husband already takes psyllium husk for cholesterol so I had some yesterday. It is gross! But works.

AmIReallyTheGrownup · 31/07/2026 15:34

If you don’t like the taste of psyllium husk I can recommend Fybogel sachets. I was committed to them when I was pregnant and everything slowed to a halt! They’re pleasantly orange flavoured and very effective.

@thepittfanI regularly make a homemade granola (the Zoe recipe) which contains psyllium husk - I chuck in loads more than they say and can’t taste it at all. I have it sprinkled on top of my Greek yoghurt and berries for breakfast every morning, it’s so delicious! Often sprinkle on my collagen powder too.

Not sure if this has been covered on here but what happens once your BMI dips into the healthy range? I need to get to around BMI 20 really but I expect that within the next couple of weeks I’ll dip below bmi 25. MedExpress who I’m with have sent me a reminder to order my next pen but said in the email I will need a progress call prior to being approved?

showmethegin · 01/08/2026 08:55

Forgot to mention I’m currently on the lowest does of wegovy if that’s relevant

AnotherPidgey · 01/08/2026 23:18

I caught a glimpse of 62.95kg this morning.
I already feel better for being sub 10st.

My running injury is still niggling away, but despite being my sluggish time of the month, my legs didn't feel heavy at parkrun and they are generally feeling better with a few less kg to lug around. I just need my injury to heal!

It's nice being able to lose weight rather than gaining while injured!

I don’t have any experience of Medexpress I’m afraid but a few of us on here have moved over to Swift Doctor for maintenance. They are great to deal with and support maintenance down to BMI 19 I believe. Very reasonably priced too.

Did Swift Doctor ask your starting weight/BMI
please? Voy were the only ones who would accept me but keen to change for a less expensive option for my second pen - however I’m thinking others still won’t accept me as a transfer patient if they know my starting BMI was just over 25 and I’m on the first month of Wegovy..
Thanks Smile
