Hi all, just been reading this thread for inspiration as I have 4 stone to lose - managed to lose 1 on my own but it’s been really hard, much more so than previously - combination of me being older and just having less time than previously! Last time I lost weight it was when I was between jobs, meaning I had time to shop for and prep meals, do exercise etc… now I work almost full time and have zero time to myself Confused

Shemed are doing what looks like a good opening offer for bank holiday weekend - £55/ month for a 12 month contract, which I think I’d need due to the amount I need to lose - the blood tests also appeal to me. Wish it was available on the NHS but sadly not, or not for me at least.

Wegovy appeals to me partly as being more budget-friendly but also partly because (rightly or wrongly) it seems less likely to give me side effects!

Any tips greatly appreciated - I’ve been struggling on my own for so long, MIL died unexpectedly last week and in between the grief, it’s made me realise that life’s too short for me to hate being fat for yet another year…

Hi! How have you done on it? I'm only on week 2 but ok so far

Hi, yea ok, I have felt sick and lost my appetite and dont really fancy anything to eat. I have been on weight watchers, I have a yearly subscription so it works out quite cheap. Im on my 2nd dose of 0.5 but I think when it runs out I will get the higher dose as I have started to get a bit of food noise, so I will have to be strong for the next month.
It's been good because I have lost two stone, but I do think I really need the higher dose next month and I will have to up my exercise which I find makes a big difference in weight loss and my well being. Good luck everyone ❤️.

I would say go for it, I’m only on my 3rd week but everything I was scared of (side effects) have not happened for me. So far I’ve lost about 3kg (7lbs ish?) so half a stone. It just feels like sticking to better habits and ignoring cravings is much easier, but nothing more drastic than that. I’m hoping as I move up the doses I can have a little more appetite surpression, and I also need to up my exercise too but being gentle with myself as it’s a lot of change v fast but I’m proud of myself so far.

im definitely noticing less effect on the jab this week, so I look forward to upping to the .5 and seeing if that makes a difference

Just a heads up it's £55 for the first month and then £139 pm after that.

This is my link to get £40 off the second month.

Think I saw Shemed 20% off with Blue Light.

Ecgx · 26/05/2026 08:11

I am with shemed used the blue light discount if you have that it’s better or there’s other codes out there for them. I have been on wegovy 0.25 now for 2.5 weeks took third jab on Friday and I have lost 10lb (4.5kg) which is amazing. However I have been one to suffer side effects, this third jab has been the best one yet in terms of I didn’t get any of the runs but I was so careful with what I ate and only drank tons of water. I jab in my thigh as well which is supposedly better,
I also have no choice but eating well because otherwise I have such bad side effects so it contributes to the good weight loss so far. I have just ordered my next months pen and gone for another month of 0.25 because of the side effects for me, it does wear off towards end of the week I feel but due to side effects 1 more month at 0.25 then I will go up. Good luck.

JaneLockland · 27/05/2026 00:05

@BratPrince you're completely right, I hadn't noticed that - what a con! I absolutely couldn't afford £139/ month Sad it's a shame as I like SheMed for the other aspects (blood tests etc) but it looks like I'd only stay with them for 1 or 2 months, then shop around.

I have a couple of days off so am going to do some research... if anyone could point me to a handy starting guide as to what to eat, side effects I could expect etc that would be very handy - I work in a school so am a bit worried about sickness/ diarrhoea Blush

Newforthis26 · 27/05/2026 07:19

Hi all
I've just done my 4th jab of 2.5 and have lost 11lb so far.
My appetite has definitely been suppressed and fortunately so far no major side effects (have felt a little nauseous at times)
Just ordered my next month and sticking with 2.5 for now.

Some will be better than others, but pretty much all the prices you see will be a discounted first month and then three figures for the subsequent months. Slightly cheaper per month if you sign up to a longer subscription, but you're typically looking at £120-170 per month for wegovy depending on provider and the dose (higher doses cost more) and mounjaro is more expensive. Happy to be corrected if anyone has found otherwise!
I have saved a bit of money elsewhere, mainly because I'm not drinking alcohol or eating out as much while on it, but it's still a lot - I wouldn't be able to justify it long term, I've saved up some money to do it for six months max.

Some people once they've got the higher dosage pens buy extra needles to make one pen last longer, and therefore better value, but there's a few issues with that - most providers set a plan with you where they send a new pen out each month so although you'd have more of the drug at home, you're still charged for a new pen each month - plus they pens are only meant to be used for 30 days once opened so there's a safety issue. And dosing in that way ('counting clicks'') isn't guaranteed to be accurate, as it's not how the pens are intended to be used.

Trumptontown · 27/05/2026 09:53

Can I jump on this thread even though I’m waiting for my first pen? I’m 5’7 and 200lb (ugh). I’ve been trying to lose weight for the past 7 months but have just been losing and gaining the same 3kg despite counting calories and doing a lot of exercise, both cardio and weight lifting…

Bolt starts at £99 per month for wegovy on subscription, which you can cancel/suspend at any time. Plus you get £40 off with referral codes going forward

Ive been on wegovy from bolt for the past 3 weeks and I have to say, their customer service and support has been fantastic.

aaahshoot · 27/05/2026 11:55

Just done my 4th jab of 0.25 starter dose and ordered the 0.5 for next week. Basically no effect yet - possibly a paltry 2lb loss so I’m intrigued by those with decent weight loss on their first pen. Really hoping the next dose will start to shift things properly for me. It might be doing something in terms of suppression as have found it very easy not to eat any white bread over the last three weeks, and pretty much zero side effects now.

Proteinpudding · 27/05/2026 11:57

Thanks @MrsO2b I forgot to mention Dr Swift are cheaper too, and good to know about Bolt, though I found most providers aren't very upfront about what it costs once the initial offer ends.

Do you have experience of Bolt? My worry (and I appreciate this is a first world problem!) is getting low enough that I have to stop and putting weight back on but not quite high enough to get a new prescription, if you see what I mean. I wonder whether Bolt allow regular suspensions which could be used in a way to maintain, or 'damage control' as it were. I'm going to do my best to maintain my losses of course but I'm under no illusions it's going to be hard to stay at low calories with regular hunger.

(Edit just to add, I'm short, so even when I stop trying to lose my maintenance number is going to be pretty low!)

I get what you mean. I'm not sure how they're "winding down/maintenance programme" works, I've only been on W for 3 weeks, but you could probably ask. As I said, they're customer support has been really good for me so far.

RSplinters · 27/05/2026 19:40

Hi, can I join please? Started on 2.5 on 8th May. Had some side effects that week, but very few since. I do feel my appetite suppression waning as the week goes on but I’m sticking to between 1200 and 1300 cals a day through eating three small meals. Weighed myself this morning and I’m 10lbs down! I can hardly believe it- I’ve been overweight since hitting menopause and scales creep up every year. I’m due to order my next pen and am thinking of getting the 5 but counting clicks so I go up gradually as I’m still losing on the lower dose.
Starting weight 13.1
Current weight 12.5

RSplinters · 27/05/2026 19:42

Gah sorry. Wrong thread-I’m on Mounjaro. Ignore my post and good luck everyone

MrsKurz · 28/05/2026 10:03

Just done my final 0.25mg jab and will move up to 0.5 next week, I'm excited as I've definitely felt the effects waning a bit, the first week or 2 I had decent but still mild surpression. Hoping things get a little more consistent at .5!

dodgeThePot · 28/05/2026 10:36

First week progress on Wegovy
Height 5ft 7.5
SW 12st 7lb
Cw 12st 2lb
First GW 11st 7lb
much of first weeks loss I’m sure is water weight with all the sweating in the heatwave!
Ive been eating regular 3 meals and making them nutrient dense.
Even when not feeling all that hungry.
No snacking in between which is a massive switch in my habits.

slight couple of days constipation (Sorted with prunes😁)
one night of stomach cramping which I put down to either spicy tomato lentil soup eaten late or the constipation issue.
Apart from that all fine.
second dose later today.

reading everyone’s progress is encouraging

MrsKurz · 28/05/2026 13:31

@dodgeThePot well done! That's great for a first week. I'm also trying to just make sure I'm eating 3 meals within my calorie range, and focussing on protein and fibre, and a variety of fresh fruit/veggies. I've been using My Fitness Pal to track things (not everything) for a couple of weeks and it's definitely a very helpful tool. Refined processed carbs definitely add up very fast calorie wise for not much nutrients,

TheDogsMother · 28/05/2026 15:32

Can I join you all ! I've just been approved by Voy for an off label prescription of Wegovy and I feel I really need this as a kick start. I'm very encouraged to see all your progress and I hope this is going to work for me.

@TheDogsMother the more the merrier! Welcome!

blubberball · 28/05/2026 15:52

I'm on week 3 now. My progress is unclear, as I haven't been home to weigh myself. I feel like I've been eating a lot and piling on weight, but will see when I get home

4 weeks in and don’t feel the 0.25 has gad any effect. May move up a dose.
