BMI under 27 - Off Label/less to lose

ritala · 29/03/2026 12:17

I am mid 40’s and just can’t lose the weight like I used to. I’m fed up of losing and gaming the same two pounds. I’m about a stone and a half more than my happy weight (where I would be approx bmi 23).

I have tried to find a thread for people who have been approved ‘off label’ Wegovy or Mounjaro with less to lose but couldn’t find one, so thought I’d start here. I have a BMI higher than 25 but less than 27 with a couple extra health conditions. Hoping to start after Easter. I’d like to stay with a very low dose if possible. Half a pound a week loss would be good for me. I really want to avoided side effects.

Daily update, day 6
Down 0.2kg, seems to be evening out, hoping for 0.5kg a week

Still no positive effects but no nausea anymore.

Around 1200cal yesterday, 80g protein and 28g fibre

NinthBestOption · 28/04/2026 07:48

Any thoughts on returning clothes I haven't yet worn?

A few weeks ago I changed to summer wardrobe and took a load of stuff that was too small to the charity shop and bought quite a lot, some of it being a little big! Got several items with the tags still on that I could return, maybe I should?

Hope you have a good day ladies.

Softpebbles · 28/04/2026 08:51

If they don’t fit @NinthBestOption I would return them.

It’s week 1 day 7 for me and I am at a 3lb loss. Steps have been on the lower side of good, two cardio/strength classes and food has all been logged. I would say I am averaging around 1300 calories a day, however I have really upped my water to help with my headaches.

Jab 2 tomorrow and hoping it will be a repeat of the week I have had, albeit increasing my steps.

Pinkslip12 · 28/04/2026 11:38

I would return anything I wasn’t 100% sure I’d wear @NinthBestOption from someone who had the worst habit of leaving clothes with tags on hanging in the wardrobe for years!

Little update from me. 3rd jab last night, down another 1.6lbs so happy with that. No real side effects, bit more tired & a little nauseous but that could be just nearly time for lunch. I’m still exercising as normal & feel like this just controls my calorie deficit much more regularly than I ever could with just willpower, had my first meal & drinks out since starting, stayed protein heavy on the food but quite enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine.

For anyone struggling with Peri insomnia/night sweats which I was a few months ago I also swear by melatonin, get anyone going to the USA to stock up for you. But also take 2 magnesium glycinate 3 in 1 & 1 ashwagandha capsules before bed they sorted my sleeping out within a few weeks & night sweats dramatically reduced. I buy the geek ones in the pouches off Amazon find them the cheapest.

Good luck everyone it’s all trial & error!

I've found this site, tiny articles exploring the latest science, it's very good with lots on managing side effects
https://glp1effect.com/p/start-here-most-read-posts

I was wondering about splitting doses to smooth out the curve and hopefully reduce side effects whilst making the positive effects more consistent. I was considering 0.15mg every 4 days, looks like it could work quite well.

That’s really interesting @NinthBestOption

I am microdosing but wondering if I should do the dose more frequently. It’s still super early days for me. I took my last jab yesterday but not really feeling any effects yet.

@ritala it is. What we all want is a constant level of suppression and minimal SE. It looks like a good option.

I've looked into why you shouldn't split doses

  1. No clinical trials so don't know whether it's effective.
  2. People will forget when to dose if it's not a fixed day
  3. Hygiene - but it all talks about drawing from vials or splitting doses from syringes so less likely to apply to our pens
  4. Clicks do not reliably correspond to a dose

I looked more into that last one, no guarantee that using half the clicks is half the dose so may under or over dose, given there is a wide tolerance range no danger of a risky overdose but you may not be getting enough.

I'm a bit torn. I'll probably just do my next full dose on schedule and see if the SE ramp up.

hellobaby24 · 28/04/2026 18:22

@NinthBestOptionhow do you get extra needles if you are micro dosing?

@NinthBestOptionhow do you get extra needles if you are micro dosing?

I bought some, look at your needle label but I think mine were 32g 4mm insulin needles, bought from an online chemist.

ritala · 28/04/2026 20:04

How are you getting on @CatAsstrophe? Hope your sleep is better. Hope everyone else is doing ok.

I’ve had an alright day today. Not been hungry but food suppression has not really been a thing either. At least I’m not snacking.

OP posts:
Beachforever · 28/04/2026 21:20

I had a bit of a nightmare doing my second injection today. I get these pre-filled syringes. I had 2x 0.5mg and 2x 1.0mg for the month.

I was supposed to take my second 0.5mg one today but as I was messing around, getting it all set up and basically procrastinating as I hate needles, I accidentally squirted most of it out before it got anywhere near my body.

So I put the tiny bit that was left in the syringe into my belly and then thought, well that’s not going to do anything, so gave myself one of the 1.0mg ones too!

So now I’ve jumped up from 0.5mg to 1.25mg on only my second week. And only have 1 injection left. I can’t believe I was so stupid.

SandwichesAndGingerBeer · 29/04/2026 07:04

I’m on day 2 of week 2 and struggling a bit - the mild effects I felt week 1 seem to have largely gone and I’m hungry a lot, although I’m still feeling full quicker when I eat.

I was 74.2 the day I took my first injection and now 72.9kg. (Height 170cm)

Thanks for asking😊 Last night is the first night in ages that I've had more than a couple of hours unbroken sleep. Probably due to sheer exhaustion!

Despite taking Movecol every night, I'm still constipated. I might double the dose in the hope of some 'activity' tomorrow.

It's a shame Wegovy is causing me too many side effects as it's doing its job. I just hope the side effects from MJ aren't as bad.

I hope you're getting on okay @ritala and everyone else on the thread is too.

Edited

That's a good loss, well done glad to hear SE have eased.

I've just done my 2nd injection and got no positive effects from the first one with fairly minor side effects. Keep telling myself it takes several weeks to build to maximum strength but in the meanwhile I'm just using willpower and we know how that ends.

Hope you get some suppression soon.

NinthBestOption · 29/04/2026 08:07

@Beachforever what a nightmare. I assume they'll send you replacements? (with a charge 😩).

Its a learning curve, you won't do it again.

SandwichesAndGingerBeer · 29/04/2026 08:11

@NinthBestOption ah sorry, I didn’t mean side effects, I haven’t had any of those! I meant positive effects, ie slightly reduced food noise - I feel like that’s tailed off since last week.

NinthBestOption · 29/04/2026 08:13

I realised I started counting at day 0 so it's day 7 for me but I'm recalibrating as wk2 day 1, just done the jab.

No good or bad effects yesterday. Plenty of toilet trips so I think whilst not constipated in that I was going infrequently and never felt backed up throughput has been back to normal over the last couple of days.

Total wk1 weightloss 3.7kg but that first measurement was in the evening fully clothed and I weigh in the morning naked so probably something like 2kg.

Weight already lower than it's been in a few years but I am just dieting so I need it to kick in this week otherwise I'll be falling off the wagon.

Ah, not good then!

You're right really, it's a drug for diabetes and the weightloss thing is a side effect.

kljdhs877 · 29/04/2026 08:18

10 days to my holiday, 1lb to go to my holiday target (I haven’t done this just for a holiday btw, I think it’s just helped anchor me!!) it’s the first holiday I’ve been on in about 8 years where I am the size I want to be, I’ve purchased a photo package 🤣

Had a bit of an upset tummy last night which has made me a bit nervous about the holiday. I’m going to inject 5mg again today and hope I am ok for the office tomorrow. Then next week I start titrating down. Goal is to get to 1.25mg a week to maintain, but I’m going to stay on 2.5mg a little while before that.

ritala · 29/04/2026 08:36

Morning all

@CatAsstrophe- when do you start MJ? I’m glad you had a better night. It really is stressful when you can’t sleep. For me, the lack of sleep is a side effect I just can’t tolerate. That first week was awful. Im
planning on doing 0.12 of Wegovy this weekend (so a half dose). I was meant to do that on Monday but did the clic counting wrong (counted to 12 instead of 18), so made a right mess of it. I think I was so consumed andbeing weird about injecting myself - I still struggle with that idea. So don’t worry @Beachforever- we all make injection mistakes!!

I need to buy some new needles with all this microdosing. Where are people buying extra needles from?

I’ve had two good days of food - although more will power than suppression and like you say @NinthBestOption- willpower isn’t going to cut it. I need to power through to the weekend to get this next 0.12 dose in me. Hoping I can kind of stick to that really as it makes it easier with pen management. Worries me that I might need to increase beyond 0.12 and head closer to 0.25 territory where the bad sleep was kicking off.

Must remember this is all a learning curve!!

Have a great Wednesday all x

Oh and well done @kljdhs877- is it your cruise? I remember you saying at the beginning of the thread about it! That’s come round so quickly. I hope you’ve bought some new clothes! How exciting.

I am in the office today - I was in yesterday too and was worried about potential tummy upset. I have to get the train to the office as well… can you imagine if it all went to sh%t, literally, on the train!? Anyway, I was ok yesterday and feel ok today. But then I have such a small amount in me. TBH, I think I’m more of a constipation person (sexy), which although is uncomfortable, is maybe slightly preferable to the alternative when you’re in the office….

OP posts:
kljdhs877 · 29/04/2026 08:44

@ritala yes part cruise, so have a whole new wardrobe which I’m very excited to wear! I can’t wait to (hopefully!) not hate all the photos ha.

Yeah exactly that! I have IBS so one of the reasons I am planning on staying on this drug is the slowing down of my digestion has been life changing, but every now and then I get a flare up and it makes me nervous!

As for needles, I get mine from Chemist4U, I think the 4mm ones, they’re exactly the same as the ones I get in my MJ box (double check for Wegovy of course) it’s only £6 or so for a box of 100.

CatAsstrophe · 29/04/2026 08:50

@ritala I'm planning on Saturday coming for the first dose of MJ. The microdosing/clicks you're doing would give me anxiety. I'd want to go back and 'double check' the amount of clicks just to be sure and as that's not possible, become fixated that I'd done it wrong!!

@kljdhs877 have a fabulous holiday!

happymumday · 29/04/2026 08:58

Morning everyone, still feeling a little rough here if I'm honest. D&V calmed down a lot yesterday but still niggling, but I'm now absolutely exhausted and today is already a slog. I lost and regained 1.2KG over the 2 days I was sick so I think dehydration must have been a part of it (despite slurping water 24/7). I am considering splitting my next dose into 2 x 1.25mg....
@kljdhs877 every time I've sucessfully lost weight in the past, my motivation has been a holiday I am jealous you have that to look forward to.
@ritala I am also nervously in the office today. The ladies toilet is conveniently next to the kettle and fridge and the men just love to stand there and chat. The toilet anxiety is high 😅
