Hi everyone, I need some advice please. Been on MJ since Jan 2025 and have lost 5 and half stone and seem to be stuck at 16st 8lb, not losing anything. I’ve been on 12.5mg for ages now and need to reorder a pen and I don’t know whether to go up or even go down, as I feel it’s just not working like it did, have I reached the limit of what I’m going to lose without (a) starving myself, which I don’t want to do or (b) increasing exercise a lot, which I can’t do because of chronic arthritis and spinal degeneration. I’ve started doing aquarobics twice a week and my step counter is definitely better than it was, but I can’t do much more physically. I’m so much healthier and mobile than I was and I’m honestly wondering if I should try and maintain this weight, I’m tired of hopping on the scales to see I’ve stayed the same. It’s just not having the effect it did. Even after injecting I’m peckish the next morning! (although I can still resist over eating, so it is working at that level). My hair is still falling out and I’m tired of paying £300 a month to stay the same. If I increase to 15 and that stops working, there’s nowhere to go with it, I’ll be in the same position but poorer.

Will going up to 15mg give me a final boost? My target was always to get my BMI to less than 35 (the point of NHS rationing for joint replacement in my area) and I’m not there yet. I am feeling very despondent about it all.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 08/04/2026 10:56

@Kay2000 sorry to hear you are struggling. Would it help to talk through your calories and what you are eating to see if there are any tweaks anyone can suggest to help boost your losses?

EducatingEater · 08/04/2026 10:58

Hello all, hope you are well and managing well on your jab journey. Took my first one this morning and waiting for my tesco shop between 1 and 2 so 🤞🏻 all will go well. At least 10 to go, more likely 14.

Springflowers2 · 08/04/2026 11:19

Thankyou @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne @eibbed999 @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden @PearlsTeapot thankyou for you lovely kind messages.
I got prescribed methylphenidate and it's been approved by my doctor this morning.ive never got on with any antidepressants in the past ,so I hope this is different.
I remember my cousin getting diagnosed with it many many years ago and my dad saying,he just needed a thick ear ..
So I never pushed for diagnosis for myself as I had that at the back of my mind
It will be interesting to see if attitudes have changed
I've made muffins this morning with fruit in .
They were yummy 😋

My advice is definitely try 15 ..that's where I lost the most weight .
But I calorie count as well on the NHS weight loss app, because I like sauces and mayonnaise and calories for me easily add up ..and so I can continue on the app if I ever come of monjroro..but I know others on here don't calorie count and they are loosing plenty.
Don't throw the towel in without trying 15 ,is my advice xx

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 08/04/2026 11:27

@EducatingEater welcome! Lots of great support and advice on this thread, we are all at different stages of our journeys but have loads of experience to share.

Thanks for your reply. That’s interesting to hear you lost most on 15, I’ll go order 15 and try to calorie count. I find it quite (in the words of the youngsters 🤭) “triggering” to count calories after decades of diets but like you it’s probably easy for me to just be eating enough calories to maintain but not lose.

Springflowers2 · 08/04/2026 11:53

I think the calorie thing is ingrained in me now
I'd love to be one of those people who was in tune with their body ,and knew what it needed ,and chose the foods my body needed and kept my weight the same without calorie counting
I watch lots of what I eat in a day on social media, and I'm always amazed at how much they eat and stay so slim ,I do wonder if people who have never dieted have a higher metabolism,as I feel I need a relatively low amount of calories to loose weight..aside from the fact I'm lazy ,my metabolism does seem slow

Newmummy343 · 08/04/2026 13:41

Just reporting in to say I weighed myself today and im officially in the 7 stone club ahhh so excited I can't actually believe it.

I started this journey at the end of april 2025 and never imagined I'd be here nearly 1 year on. Next goal is 100 pound loss then its to get into the 12's never to see the teens again.

Sorry to hear everyone who is struggling and yay to everyone on there NSV's. I am a calorie counter, I have to be its the only way it works for me. I've also started counting my protein and making sure I get 100g of protein and I feel thats helping.

I go on holiday in May and it feels strange to not worry about the plane, the last few years I've been weighing myself with a measuring tape beforehand praying i'll fit.
Anyway next stop 100 pound here I come.

Kay2000 · 08/04/2026 13:47

@Newmummy343 what/how do you use to count protein please?

Iwouldratherbesinging · 08/04/2026 14:03

I’ve been awol for a while setting up my little business after the redundancy, just given myself a break and caught up with the last 12 or so pages of news, both good and frustrating, some epic photos!
I'm on week 3 of maintenance at 10mg now and am 9st 5, I was aiming to maintain at 9st 10 so have lost another 5lbs over this last three weeks, I think I’m just too scared to relax when it comes to food, this maintenance malarkey is quite terrifying! I’ve just ordered a 7.5mg pen so will drop another dose and see how that goes.
my bmi is now 22.6 (something I never in a million years thought possible), and I’ve lost 52% of my body weight! I’m a size 12 top and a 10 bottom, I think I’ll always be top heavy…

@Springflowers2 so sorry you’ve had a hard time recently, but hopefully that light at the end of the tunnel is in reach.

@Kay2000 15mg was my ‘magic’ dose, I started on 15mg in May last year and stayed on it until December and consistently lost an average of 8lb a month. I’m one of those who don’t calorie count, but I fast 2 days a week which probably helps. I think I would have to count calories if I didn’t fast.

good luck on your journey @EducatingEater, lots of joy ahead for you!

MrTiddlesTheCat · 08/04/2026 14:05

Meh, went up this week by 0.4 kg. It's so frustrating seeing as I'm sticking to my diet like glue, other than Easter day food. So no cream egg for me this week.

My dietician seemed quite happy with my progress though. So it's not all bad.

Water training was a new experience for me. I cried at the start as bottled up trauma leaked out. But everyone was so lovely. I quite enjoyed it. But my god, the post training pain! My tens machine will be working overtime today.

TheZingyFish · 08/04/2026 14:13

I moved up to 10mg for the first time on Monday, and it has wiped me out. I was on 7.5mg since September and losses would slow but then speed up again. I inject on a Monday and usually have really high suppression on a Tuesday, can barely eat anything but then settle into a usual eating pattern for the rest of the week. Other than a bit of constipation and minor hair loss, I’ve been very fortunate but this week I’m struggling to stay awake and have no energy. This is the first time I’ve felt like this so am tempted to drop back to 7.5mg. Using the current 10mg pen, I could take 4 x 7.5mg doses rather than the remaining 3 x 10mg. Has anyone else found a higher dose has suddenly hit them like a ton of bricks?

Newmummy343 · 08/04/2026 14:21

Kay2000 · 08/04/2026 13:47

@Newmummy343 what/how do you use to count protein please?

So I use my fitness pal app for calories, tbh I am so used to my calories now I have mostly the same stuff everyday and know my calories. The protein I have gone old school and planned my meals the night before and wrote down my calories and protein for each meal on a notepad.

I airfryer diced chicken for example with seasoning for my lunch, if you read the packet it advises 100g is 21.5 g of protein so I was making and weighing out 200g so its 43g of protein. That with my sticky rice and cooked veg it works out at 50g. I checked protein on all my food, eggs, tuna etc. Also I have a clear whey protein drink which is 20g of protein and its under 100cals so lunch and my drink I am having 70g of protein alone

You do need to be organised though, I work full time and have a 4 year old and I have to prep at night etc or else I wouldn't do it. I used to spend a fortune on lunches but now I save money this way. I know this wont work for everyone but works for me.

Also I write certain things down so I know straight away the protein and calories especially things I have all the time. Hope this helps 😊

52soon · 08/04/2026 16:11

Post holiday weigh in this morning 5lbs on, hopefully some of that water weight from flight, jabbed today so back on it.

Kay2000 · 08/04/2026 13:47

@Newmummy343 what/how do you use to count protein please?

Hi @Kay2000 I use nutracheck. It's so simple. You can scan the barcode of products, or search for it and it automatically tells you the protein content .
You can set your own goals for calories and protein intake and it tells you how much you have had and how many left per day.

Welcome @EducatingEater.

I had to see my GP earlier this week. He noticed my weigh loss and was very encouraging. He then asked me if I had done it using MJ..... I was a bit nervous to say yes, but he was so positive about it when I did.

I had a week away last week with loads of nanny snuggles with my new grandson. Food was a bit of a disaster!! Takeaways and treats each day. When I got home I had put on 3lb ( it could have been far worse), but after 4 days at home that has dropped off already, so I am pleased with that.
I am excited about getting out some bags of old clothes soon and seeing what I will fit into this summer. Normally I dread that!!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 08/04/2026 16:35

My summer clothes from last year are all size 14s.

They'll be far too big this year.

Vinted can have them, and I'll order some size 10 tops.

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 08/04/2026 16:56

I've just sorted my summer clothes from last year, and they were all 18 or 16s so will be too big for me this summer. They're on Vinted now of course! Not too many things, as I made do a bit as I knew I was not going to be wearing them for long. It's been 25 degrees here today so a mini taste of summer weather. I went out without my coat and wasn't freezing cold which made a very pleasant change!

@eibbed999 just wanted to say that it's a good step to have weighed and found out where you are at right now. I am sending positive vibes for your month break before restarting. Also, there are new GLP1s in the pipeline, Retatrutide will be available maybe towards the end of 2026 or in 2027, the tablet Orflorglipron should be coming around the same time too, and it may well be that one of those might suit you better than Mounjaro.

@Newmummy343 massive congratulations on the 7 stone loss!

@EducatingEater hello and welcome!

@TheZingyFish I had similar when I moved to 5mg and again to a slightly lesser degree when I moved to 7.5mg. I wonder whether a dose in between 7.5 and 10mg, so 8.75, might be an idea?

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 08/04/2026 17:30

@Newmummy343 congrats on the 7st loss, and so close to the 100lb!

I too hit 7 stone loss today! I’ve still 5 weeks till my anniversary so hoping to make it to 100lb by then as well and possibility even 7.5 stone if I dare hope!

I’ve dropped my dose back down again this week after more side effects, all those people that think this is cheating and easy are so wrong….

TragicMuse · 08/04/2026 18:04

Cycled home. It was lovely. It always takes a bit longer because it’s uphill but I feel all energised and vibrant!

Billybingbong · 08/04/2026 18:20

Huge NSV today. I bought some size 16 Jeans on Vinted on a whim, thinking that I will get into them eventually. Well they only bloody fit me now. OK, a little snug, but they are on and fastened, and here's the proof. I am strutting about the house like a preened peacock, and can't stop checking out my arse in the mirror 🤣🤣. Haha, me in jeans, I never would've thought it. I bought some jegging type ones a few months back, but this is my first proper pair in about 15/20 years!

All these Victories isn't it good. I sold my summer clothes at the end of last summer as I knew they wouldn't fit so I've been shopping my own eBay for new stuff. I think I'm sorted now, 3xcept for shoes. I hate summer shoes as I have a fungal infection in one foot which is gross. Any recommendations for closed toe comfy shoes. Size 3.5

PearlsTeapot · 08/04/2026 22:01

@Billybingbong 😍😍😍 congrats on jeans!

MCR24 · 09/04/2026 07:14

I've put on 0.3kg 😔 never going to lose this last stone!

GnomeDePlume · 09/04/2026 07:27

Weigh in and jab day

SW 140kg BMI 54.7
CW 91kg BMI 35.5
GW 63kg BMI 24.6

14 stone 5lbs in old money, 7 stone 10lbs down.

We are going on holiday in a couple of months, driving down to the south of France, and I'm not secretly dreading being too hot/sweaty/uncomfortable. I'm still obese but the least obese I have been in a long time.

Mounjaro/weightloss/diet change are still playing merry hell with my warfarin. It is counter intuitive, I now have to take a lot more warfarin than I did before despite weighing a lot less.
