I am mid way through week 2 on my second pen and stuck with 2.5 - although am tempted to go up as my suppression is nowhere near the same as it was

I get one extra needle per pen (in case of a blocked needle - which happened to me once when I primed but nothing came out!). So I could click count a couple of times but would soon run out. You can’t use those extra needles for the golden dose in my case as they don’t extract (and the pen “locks” after a certain number of clicks). Will look into it though!

HollywoodTease · 08/04/2026 10:55

I bought a box of 100 spare needles off Amazon just in case of issues. Also got a box of 100 wipes so I always have 1 wipe per needle.

I tried again to force the pen to keep going round on my last one, but it seemed stuck. I used a syringe to get the extra dose out and after that tried to turn it again with a bit more force as I didn't need to worry about breaking it and it did eventually turn. I think I'll try this properly next time as I'm not very confident in my skills with the syringe to get the extra dose out (having done it three times already, I'm convinced I have only gotten a small dose each time)!

Hotfirewood · 08/04/2026 17:19

I was able to force the pen by hand to do a fifth dose last time. Before that I used pliers. Once it didn’t work but I think that’s because I was being too gentle.

I saw an old post on here of the prices before!! They put them up so much. I want the fifth dose to make me feel like I’m winning 😂 I may stockpile before the new version of the pen is everywhere.

Perianth · 08/04/2026 18:44

Prices have risen a lot, I agree 😩- anyone know when they come off patent and generic versions can be made and sold?

ETA - I just googled. At least a decade. Ah well.

Last year, i never paid more than 150 no matter what dose I was on
Now its 210 just for 7.5. Its crap

That’s wild! I just paid £237.50 for 7.5mg (inc delivery). From Cloud Pharmacy, as I’m too lazy to sign up to a new provider 🙈 If I can use the fifth dose it makes it a bit more palatable. Two more pens and I hope to be done with MJ!!

Edited to say that my friend on MJ (who doesn’t know I’m on it) said she needs to “titrate” back down before coming off it?? I’ve never heard that word before. Is it bad to go cold turkey, do you think? 🤔

CatNoBag · 08/04/2026 19:16

@Hotfirewood - that's one reason I'm trying to stay on as low a dose as possible, so that I can hopefully come off it without to much bother and just rely on my willpower & exercise to keep me at my target weight when the time comes!

Incidentally, is anyone else getting ahead of themselves with reaching target? In my head I can fit into my smallest size clothes and the end is just around the corner, but in reality I'm just over halfway there (which I'm amazed to have achieved so quickly really, but it's given me ridiculous expectations😂)

Roll on the end of summer when, if everything stays on track, will be the end of it for me!

Apparently so, I went cold turkey last year and I ended up on the January board so I am keen to go back down in doses when the time comes

FrothyCothy · 08/04/2026 19:35

I don’t think it’s recommended to just come off it, I think most people work their way back down the doses

bec81 · 08/04/2026 20:53

I think even if you stay in a low dose throughout, its recommended that you stay on a maintenance dose for a year when you achieve your target weight to stop your body bouncing back up to pre-wli weight. I dont know though, Ive still got a bit of a way to go before I have to think about that.

Im in Ireland, so don't know how different the market is, but would switching to wegovy be an option worth trying if its a lot cheaper? I know it doesn't get the same press on here, but Ive been on it from the start, it costs me €125 per month, and ive been losing steadily, 12.5kg down since 7th jan, with no major side effects.

Can’t believe another Wednesday has rolled around! Easter weekend has made things a bit tougher but I actually had a good loss this week. Another kg down. I also wanted to say that I weigh daily and my “Wednesday” weight is actually whatever was lowest that week - the scale fluctuates so much that it would be super demoralising to go by whatever it said on jab day. So I take my weekly low.

This week will actually be my first 7.5mg jab. I ordered 2 pens at the same time of that, so I’ll be on 7.5 for a while (also they have the “golden dose” so these next pens will actually last 10 weeks!) that helped me justify the price increase

For those who “click count” - where do you get the extra needle heads from? I have extraction needles for gold dose but I’m thinking that if I’m finding suppression good on 5mg I might click count on the 7.5mg pen.

SW 1/1/26 - 93.3kg
Jan (2.5mg) 86.5kg -6.8kg
Feb (5mg) 82.5kg -4kg
March (5mg) 79.4kg -3.2kg
MJ13 (5mg) 1/1/26 - 79kg -0.4kg
MJ14 (7.5mg) 8/1/26 - 78kg -1kg
GW: 68kg
Total loss: -15.3kg

This is what I do too - take the lowest reading in the week as that week’s weight - as it jumps about all over the place and I was getting really demoralised. It is definitely on a gradual downward trend so I’m confident I’m not fooling myself.

Or do I need new scales🤔

Hettar · 09/04/2026 13:05

Week 13 update

SW: 17 st 8lbs
GW: 12 st
CW: 14 st 12 lbs

Just a pound off this week, but that's to be expected as I definitely ate more than usual at the weekend.

I think I'll order the 5mg pen next and take 3.75mg.

Went shopping on Monday and got some new clothes that actually fit me. What a revelation that was and all my friends noticed and complimented me about how good I look. It's funny because in my head I'm still a long way from my target but already seeing so many benefits.

bec81 · 09/04/2026 16:53

I had to do a weigh in at my pharmacy and send it to my online doctor today. They have come back with a prescription for 8 weeks instead of 12 as im teetering on normal bmi (25.5) and will probably be a maintenance prescription thereafter. I upped my prescription to 1mg (have been on .5mg for the last 8 weeks). I think ill continue with 0.5mg from the 1mg pen though, in case I want to lose more in 8 weeks and not quite ready for maintenance. The 0.5mg is working well for me. Im losing slowly and steadily and can live my life around it, fitting in occasional treats and alcohol and not feeling sick.

glutenisthedevil · 09/04/2026 18:32

My new pen arrived today and really pleased to see that it's the old style!

Hotfirewood · 09/04/2026 20:45

Evening all - no movement in the scales, still 11st (70kg)… no idea why I keep getting stuck at a plateau. New 7.5mg pen arrived today. I think it’s the old one with the golden dose.

I’ve still got 4 doses left in my 5mg pen, so I think I’ll count clicks to do 7.5mg from that! Getting bored of the stagnation 😂

@bec81 why do they class you as maintenance once your bmi is 25? My bmi is now 24.2 and my pharmacy just agreed to increase my dose from 5mg to 7.5mg.

Planning to stay on MJ till I get to bmi 21. I think they go down to bmi 19 though.

Yea, im not sure. Like, I definitely am not near goal, I have another 8-10kg id say. I think they were surprised at how quickly it came off. She was being very cautious, would only prescribe for 8 weeks and if I had lost too much after 4 weeks, wanted me to come back down to 0.5mg. I plan on staying on .5mg anyway, so the 8 week supply should last me 16 weeks, and we can see where we are by then.

GreenLemonade · 09/04/2026 21:26

@bec81 and @Hotfirewood if you don't mind, could you share which pharmacy you're with? My bmi is 26 so it's only a matter of time until I hit 25. Now I'm worried, I wouldn't want to be kicked out soon. I want to get to a bmi of 22 before moving to maintenence. I'm with Bolt.

bec81 · 09/04/2026 21:58

Pharmacists cant prescribe in Ireland. Im getting it through an online doctor service who send my prescription to my local pharmacy

Ralphiesaurus · 09/04/2026 22:01

@Hotfirewood Im on a plateau too. I need to look up how to count clicks and go up to 7.5 too I think…

@GreenLemonade I’m using Cloud Pharmacy. They’re one of the more expensive ones, but the sign up and reorder process has been easy and seamless, so I’m not planning to switch.

@Ralphiesaurus please check other sources before you change your prescribed dose!!

My plan with my 5mg pen is to do a full dose (60 clicks) and then count 20 clicks for another 1/3 of a normal dose. ChatGPT was really judgy and told me not to do it 😂 That will cover me for 3 weeks until I start my new 7.5mg pen and seems like a sensible step up…to me, entirely unqualified 😆🙈

2026istheyear2 · 10/04/2026 09:10

2.6 pounds off this week which takes me to 3 stone 1 pound down and more excitingly to a BMI under 30. Thrilled to be ‘overweight’! Will stick with 3.75 for another week. Did have a bit more chocolate this week but hadn’t shopped properly so no healthy snacks in house - need to get back to being organised. Also didn’t do much exercise - probably good to have an easier week after 3 full months but back to it today!

Perimenoanti · 10/04/2026 14:42

I have been away for a bit & am still going. I wanted to see how others feel after three months?

I am so incredibly bored of dieting. I do feel restricted in what I eat and how much. I want a big plate of something. I want beige food en masse. It is not even a craving as such. I just miss it? I eat everything I ate before, but not as much, not as often etc. and have added way more protein and fibre. That is all great, but protein and fibre do not give me joy. A big bowl of pasta does. A giant pizza would do. I do have all of these, but really, you can't do it more than once a week or the ridiculous carb cravings set in.

I have lost nearly 2st. I am well pleased with that. But it is getting tedious. I am still on the 2nd lowest dose of wegovy. I know I will move up in two weeks. But I cannot imagine I will be any less bored!?
