Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 12!

A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

So encouraging to read that @Bunnyjo

@UnimaginableWindBird are you looking at Pharmulous for maintenance for any reason in particular? Not that I am anywhere near maintenance yet, just keen to learn!

GiveMeWordGames · 05/04/2026 10:06

Excellent NSVs and SVs, @Bunnyjo 5 stone - whoop!👏And joining a gym! You're smashing it.

I am doing full on Easter Sunday lunch today - barbecued butterflied lamb, almond lemon drizzle cake, probably a decent bit of booze. Yeah, no scales for me tomorrow morning. 😄

Zebracat · 05/04/2026 19:15

We are also doing Easter lunch. Slow roasted lamb and rhubarb and custard trifle. I don’t care, I will mainly have veg, but I will enjoy every mouthful of this meal, I’m already enjoying the smell. Little bit more worried about the chocolate, but my body seems able to stop me over indulging in that. Amazed to find that I only gained 300 grams in Denmark, and some has gone already, think it was water retention from the flight. I reach my 1 year anniversary on Mounjaro at the end of this month. I would dearly love to reach my second target by then , which is movable, just to weigh less than my Dh. I’m currently 80.8 , he is 79.2. Maybe I need to give him my Easter egg😢.

GiveMeWordGames · 05/04/2026 20:04

I feel like I keep spamming the thread with pics but I'm still kind of wtf at stuff. The first pic is a year ago, mother's day which was late March and a week after I started MJ. The second is today. I look so much smaller in the same chair! My teeny Mum is the same size in each, I just no longer LOOM over her.

You look great @GiveMeWordGames !

SecondCircuit · 06/04/2026 06:57

@GiveMeWordGames - you look positively fabulous!
The thing is, you looked absolutely normal before, but now you look terrific. You must be so proud of your achievement!

I’m currently tossing and turning as suffering after yesterday’s indulgencies. And we are going away in a couple of days so I’m not having high hopes of losing anything for some time.
It will probably be a massive stall like around Christmas when it took a loong time before things settled weightwise...

GiveMeWordGames · 06/04/2026 08:43

@SecondCircuit oh my god the tossing and turning! I drank half what I would have done pre MJ but it messes with my sleep twice as much.

And thank you both. I think I'm still slightly in denial which is why I keep taking and looking at photos because it doesn't seem possible/real otherwise.

Have a lovely time on your holiday!

UnimaginableWindBird · 06/04/2026 09:29

@GiveMeWordGames I love those photos! What really stands out to me is that you look happy and pretty in both of them, and that that you just look thinner and sort of more glowing in the second one. I'm a huge fan of "before" photos where people don't look miserable and ashamed.

I had a proper Easter feast yesterday, with buttered hot cross buns, wine, chocolate and a long six course lunch, so I was a little bit worried that my body wouldn't be able to handle it, especially as there was lots more fat than I generally eat (lemon posset! Cheeseboard!) But I kept my portions reasonable and I've been fine and am starting my day with one of the Bird & Blend chocolate teas that I got instead of a chocolate egg and am actively looking forward to a session in the gym later today.

I really like that I'm finally relearning how to do moderation instead of the deprivation/excess mindset I had before.

Onegramatatime · 06/04/2026 10:07

@GiveMeWordGames , you look happy and content in both pictures but in the second you are glowing!

@UnimaginableWindBird , I love this statement you made, 'I am finally relearning how to do moderation instead of the deprivation/excess mindset I had before'. It rings so true for myself too.

Hope everyone had a lovely Easter yesterday.

But frustrated here. On our way home from a family visit and stopped at a roadside smokehouse for lunch. No calories on the menu and everything seemed coated in honey and deep fried. I chose two sides that looked comparatively light. Only after eating them did I find an online menu with calories. It turns out I've had all but 100 of my daily calories in one small lunch. I'm not going there again!

It's only one meal!

I think one thing that "normal people" have that I had never mastered was the ability to have a calorific meal then carry on with normal life whereas, for me, it would always trigger a binge or some kind of punitive restriction.
Hopefully the MJ will help you just move on and get back to regular eating (although I'm still trying to master the skill! Grin)

MoneyJo · 06/04/2026 15:32

That's a good point @QueenOfHiraeth

Zebracat · 06/04/2026 17:55

It’s a very good point. You did your best to find the least worst option, and it’s only one meal. I learnt from my week in that smokehouses spiritual home that actually my body craves fruit and veg, and that was very good to learn.

Yes! I feel the same.

StatisticalStitches · 06/04/2026 22:19

It's hard to relax when calorie counting. But I know that the extra 300 I had today will be ok because I was 400 yesterday. I'm guessing the scales won't mind if over a week my average consumption is on target? Well that's what I'm hoping for, although most days I'm below target.

MooBaggage · 07/04/2026 17:27

I had a busy but lovely Easter weekend - but am also a bit frustrated. No Easter eggs, but definitely more food and alcohol, more crisps and not enough water, so unsurprisingly, the scales are showing a 2lb gain 🙄 I know it won't be fat - more likely to be water retention and I'm back on track today - salad for lunch and lots of water!

I think I'm so much more aware of the cost of MJ since the big price rises a while ago and it feels more wasteful not to consistently lose weight when I'm spending so much money! But it is what it is... Back on track, like a 'normal' and hoping for 1lb off this week 🤞🤞🤞

Hello everyone
Hope its okay to join through a very busy thread
I never intended to lose five stone when I first started last year, in total I have lost 32kg altogether
Just really surreal.
I have one dose left of 5mg and I think I might try and go it alone. As I really can't afford 7.5 but feel like 5mg isn't working.

I still have another 5kg to lose before I'd be in the healthy bmi category but I already feel years younger than I did, and I'm only in my 30s! I hate old photos as my face is so round and puffy. Still not a fan of photos I just see the old big me.

Onegramatatime · 07/04/2026 21:15

Welcome, @notcomfortable .
Well done on your 32kg loss!!! Wow!!
Sorry to hear you can't afford the 7.5mg and it seems the 5mg is not working.

You may have done this already or I may have the reason wrong, have you looked at the discount page to see the prices? There may be pharmacies you haven't used yet and can get a first time buyer discount or returning customer discount. Pharmulous also has more affordable prices (in comparison).

But well done and congratulations!
If you do go it alone, there are some helpful threads on here for maintainers.

Agree, hate the wasteful feeling of not loosing & at great cost!
Easter eggs (yes more than one 🙄) eaten. I am up 1kg, the one I had lost!!!
It's annoying & I want to be under 90kg already! Weight loss is so slow & easy to gain but not sure why I can't make the sacrifices I need. Wondering if 10mg will work for me now but can't afford to go up!
I have managed to exercise well & really proud of running progress on CT5K. Some of you will remember my hesitation to begin, well now I run 20-25mins in one go. Me, very overweight still but wearing leggings and trainers and a sports bra me! Running!

MoneyJo · 10/04/2026 06:51

@Reginaphalangeeeee well done on the running. I did C25K years ago and was so proud of myself by the end. I keep thinking about starting again but I just need to get on with it.

alltablenochairs · 10/04/2026 22:02

Will respond properly once the Easter craziness is over but thought I would share this.

I've gone away for a few days. The hotel stay was funded by a superb charity called Carefree that donates unsold hotel rooms to unpaid carers (one of my children has complex additional needs) Not only have I been upgraded to a suite and given a 2 course meal compliments of the manager but the hotel staff were very concerned when I asked for a stack of pillows and a second duvet. They thought the heating in the room was broken. I explained that I am permanently cold (a mix of MJ and autoimmune disease but didnt tell them that!). So they overrode the heating for me. The room is currently 28 fabulous degrees. I messaged DH about having the heating on that at home and his reply was 'dont even think about it. You have a heated blanket for a reason'.

MoneyJo · 10/04/2026 22:52

Enjoy your stay @alltablenochairs - sounds wonderful.

Onegramatatime · 11/04/2026 06:55

@alltablenochairs , I luuuurve luuurve a warm room. Did you go alone or with your DC? Enjoy the break.

Its a condition of booking that you dont take the person you care for with you.
