I started 12 months ago and have lost exactly 7 stone.

I am a size 8 and started this journey a very unhappy size 18!

How much does it cost? I’m on basically minimum wage so probably couldn’t afford it I’m imagining.

25kg in a year. Still losing but more slowly now as I’ve dropped back down to 5mg.

Tbh I’d love to stay on it for maintenance if I can as it’s helped with an autoimmune condition I have. I used to take two different antibiotics daily and I haven’t needed to since starting MJ.

My consultant told me it’s been proven to help with my condition but the NHS won’t fund it for that. So unfortunately I need to keep paying privately, which is saving the NHS money as I’m not getting a shit tonne of medication for the cost of my monthly pre-paid prescription card.

It’s not UC by any chance?

@Alltheyellowbirds it's not been as easy as some others I know who've taken it, I went up the doses every 4 weeks as didn't and don't have any side effects (including suppression which is limited but it must be doing something).
I have tea milk & 1 sugar for breakfast then around 11am have Greek yogurt with protein powder mixed in, maybe some nuts & berries. I rarely snack, dinner is a very small amount of weighed carbs sweet potato, rice, noodles (rarely eat pasta), with veggies and meat or fish. I also drink a can of full sugar Coke most days, a habit I'm desperate to quit, I don't drink alcohol, I count calories so have whatever I want but make healthy choices.
I've been overweight all my life.

I have had days where I've eaten junk, meals out etc. weight loss has really slowed down now though.

Blossoms217 · 29/01/2026 22:06

How are people losing weight like this? Does it waste muscle? I've gone from 9.12 to 8.11 naturally it's taken me about 5 months! I don't qualify for weight loss medication obviously but I'm reading the comments thinking w t f! Mind blowing. Do you put weight back on if you stop taking it? Does ir stop you eating? Could it cause an eating disorder?
surely there's more to it.

BooksandCats123 · 29/01/2026 22:08

My start weight was 185lb and my goal is 140lb I’ve been taking it for 7 weeks and have lost 17lbs so far.

narcASD · 29/01/2026 22:12

@Blossoms217 it's because we were so big to start with, when you have less to lose it's harder and slower. Yes, you do lose muscle, I've tried to avoid that as much as possible, weight lifting and high protein help. I'd love to be 9.12, that's my goal weight 😀

Hihibye · 29/01/2026 22:14

vickyfowler · 29/01/2026 21:47

Gosh, I thought the pp with a similar loss was a real outlier. Are you eating properly? Thats dangerously fast.

Tbf I was pribably about the same I lost over a stine in about the first 3 to 4 weeks!! Most of ny weightloss was the first 6 to 8 months.

It suppresses your appetite with delayed gastric emptying so you eat less as you feel fuller for longer. It also controls blood sugars by stopping them spiking thus also helping with hunger.

Thank you! I’m new so hearing about what’s made others successful is really helpful. At the moment I’m really focusing on getting my protein up, and eating lots and lots of veg.

I'm paying £260 at the moment for a 10mg pen per month. For various reasons I have stuck with the family chemist as due to type 1 diabetes I cant chop and change each month as others can.

On MJ: 3.5stone
Prior to this, I lost 2st on phentermine.

notatinydancer · 29/01/2026 22:21

3 stone but haven’t lost any for ages. I’d like to lose another one.

SilenceInside · 29/01/2026 22:29

@PedanticPrincess Wegovy is cheaper than Mounjaro, it’s a bit less effective but people can and do lose their weight on it. The lower doses of Wegovy can be as little as £50 to £70 a pen (4 weeks worth of injections) with new customer discounts. You can change pharmacy each month to take advantage of their new customer discounts rather than stick with the same supplier. The higher doses do get more expensive but still cheaper than Mounjaro.

Zempy · 29/01/2026 22:47

I have lost five stone 6 pounds in a year. Now weigh 8 stone 2 and am 5 ft 4. Age 60.

My blood results are amazing and my consultant endocrinologist is really pleased with my results. I am maintaining now, on it for the long term to stay healthy.

You’d probably put weight on quite quickly afterwards. I’ve had a minor procedure this week and as I need to take painkillers I decided not to jab this week - although my appetite isn’t anywhere near what it used to be, it has increased a lot this week. I will jab again on Monday which is my usual day.

its improved my health massively but in terms of food whilst taking it, well I don’t really think about food now whereas before I was thinking of the next meal whilst eating a meal. The freedom I have now is great as I’m no longer tied to a food schedule. I will eat when I want to, which is basically once a day at teatime and I try to make that meal fresh foods if I can. Although I cannot finish the plate even though I’m hungry and want to eat it.

purpleflowersfordays · 29/01/2026 22:49

For those asking, I don’t feel comfortable sharing about my health condition but it’s not anything that’s been mentioned so far.

If you stop taking it and go back to your old eating habits yes, you will put weight on. Thats the same with any ‘diet’ - if you don’t maintain the healthy way of life you won’t remain in a healthy body.
It has never stopped me eating, it was a struggle in the early days but the vast majority of my weight loss I have been eating 1600 calorie most days, sometimes more.
What kind of eating disorder do you mean? A lot of WLI users already have an eating disorder, we have over eaten for years.

more to it?

That sounds dangerously fast. What are you eating?

Not if you are very very overweight to begin with. Much larger people can safely lose large amounts in short spaces of time

foxlover47 · 29/01/2026 23:04

I lost 3 stone 11 , then stopped for a few months due to finances and just been starting back up again , been lucky i only gained a few lbs in my time off so looking forward to being back , just finishing 5mg and on to the 7.5 again
well done on your losses everyone :)

I'm losing slowly, about a pound a week. It's fine, I don't mind. I'm three stone down in nine months so not as spectacular as some, but it's steady and I hope sustainable.

I too am losing very slowly. About 2 stone in 7 months. I have had limited mobility for the majority of this time following a total hip replacement. I'm hoping now I am able to up my exercise my weight loss will speed up a bit!

Gosh, I thought the pp with a similar loss was a real outlier. Are you eating properly? Thats dangerously fast.

Its not necessarily dangerously fast. 1% loss of bodyweight a week is healthy. People have it drummed into them that 1-2lb but it isnt the same for someone who is 25st say compared to some who is 12st. 1% of 25st is 3.5lb. A dramatic lifestyle change with regards to diet and exercise could easily nean weight drops quickly but in a healthy way. Plus many people lose 10+lb in the first week, even without the jabs, when I went to weight watchers years ago regularly people lost 10/11lb in a week.

I was 12st to start with on 1st Nov, I lost 9lb in 1st 2 weeks, then have lost on average 2lb a week since. I was BMI 28 to start with and now 23.8. I think it looks a lot as it is hard to consistently eat in a calorie deficit for long periods. If I had been a lot heavier then I imagine I would have lost more. I have lost 32lb now, have 11ish to go. I am so grateful for the jabs.

It’s definitely helped my Endometriosis

That’s interesting. What have you noticed that’s changed? I have endometriosis too & have read about this possible link with MJ.

You will regain if you don't make permanent changes.

I use the time on MJ to revamp my diet. I am a huge stress eater and ballooned after 4 years of mental health hell.

So for me it's a mix of dealing with my triggers while not craving the sweet carbs by concentrating on other stress relief options.
It helps that I have trouble digesting things like toast or shop bought pastries now.

I also moved away from typical comfort foods like cheesy pasta dishes, high calorie curries and alcohol.

I am still at least 6-9 months away from goal I think and then plan at least 1 year on a maintenance dose.

LaurieFairyCake · 30/01/2026 08:32

4st. Size 12 (tipped to obesity) to size 6, BMI 21

Iwouldratherbesinging · 30/01/2026 12:36

I’ve lost 9 stone exactly (57.15kg) over the last 15 months on Mounjaro, I’m in the ‘normal’ bmi category for the first time ever and it’s changed my life in so many ways. I’m now planning to titrate down over the next 12 months.
