Don’t day I didn’t warn you…

The joy of a good pooh! Both colonically AND on the scales. It’s a double whammy!

Ahem. As you were.

MG2026 · 21/01/2026 07:50

For those who have been doing this a while, how do you feel about weighing yourself regularly?

At moment I’m having a peek almost daily, more out of interest and to be ‘aware’ of where I am. But I am highly motivated at mo.

As time goes on I wonder if checking weight will end up being a reason to drift, especially if results aren’t at a pace that I am hoping for?

But then I’m a data geek so do like the numbers.

🤷🏻

SilenceInside · 21/01/2026 08:32

@MG2026 I weigh every day. I don’t like to be surprised on my “official” weigh day on Fridays. I also know that it was putting the scales and the full length mirror away that contributed to the head in the sand approach to my weight over the last few years. It’s been a useful reminder over Christmas where I gained a little, I wanted to avoid the scales. I was fearful of seeing a much larger number, but I do know now that I need to just weigh and see what the damage is, then move forwards.

When I’m at maintenance, I will weigh at least once a week and not leave it any longer than that. I will also take action immediately if I’m more than a pound or two up from my target weight. I really want to stay at a stable weight for a decent length of time, this time.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 21/01/2026 08:35

I weigh most days, not necessarily every day though, but the only one I record is on a Saturday morning. I find that it's motivational either way - a good result encourages me to keep up good habits and a less good result gives me a kick to be a bit more careful.

Doggymummar · 21/01/2026 08:37

I just weigh monthly or thereabouts now. It's too cold to get naked. 😃

Iwouldratherbesinging · 21/01/2026 08:55

I also weigh daily, first thing in the morning, but only record officially once a week. This got me used to the natural weekly fluctuations in the early days.

thanks for the well wishes, very stiff shoulder this morning and I can’t raise my arm, can’t get my bra on so am braless today which feels quite nice 😂. Luckily it’s my right side and I’m left handed. Dr google tells me I’ve probably damaged my rotator cuff, nice bruise has appeared on my hip.

Missingducks · 21/01/2026 09:05

@Iwouldratherbesinging your dog messaged my dog "you'll not believe what happened, remember that time your human slid down the hill in the mud on her bum when you saw the spare human's car and ran towards it, well mine just toppled over into the road picking up pooh".

When you stop feeling sore it will be a funny story!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 21/01/2026 10:00

Oh dear @Iwouldratherbesinging well at least it wasn't any worse.
It does sound painful though.

I'm finding exactly the same ..yet I still want to loose another 4 stone .
I hadn't expected it to slow down so much ,when I still have plenty left to loose

Mine had definitely slowed down to that rate of loss when I had four stone left to lose.

I think we all need to be realistic about this. This is normal and very expensive.

MJ costs a lot of money.

I decided a while ago that I'd have to somehow cope with paying for it.

It's been two years and I'm nearly there (only 5lb to go to my goal).
That will take about three months.

I have got to reach that goal - it's very much in sight now.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 21/01/2026 10:09

In my post-Christmas "being on good behaviour" phase, I've been losing 1lb a week, which is a lot for me.

I'm now 11st 1lb.

The 10s are in sight.

I can’t decide how often to weigh. Prior to being on Mounjaro and on another weightloss journey with another set of rules and advice (we have all been there), the advice I received was to weigh daily rather than weekly to in some way take the power of the weekly weigh in away. I have to say, I do get that logic. I sometimes feel like a lot rides on the weekly weigh-in, when we are all well versed in the fact that your body does not know it is Tuesday night/Saturday morning or any other time of the week and could be holding onto water, anything else(!) or had a larger meal or more exercise to have contended with which could affect the scales.
BUT, even knowing all of that, a gain/maintain/smaller than expected loss can be very derailing.
So. A dilemma. As daily weighing is also a triggering experience and means that I feel that I will be stuck with the obsession around scales and other weight loss paraphernalia (fit bit, kitchen scales etc etc) forever.
I am certain that there are ways to make this smaller in my mind. I just haven’t yet found them.

Agree. For me MJ has gone from being "the magic thing that is going to solve all my weight issues" to a tool that I realistically will have to use for the rest of my life. And it's non negotiable. I genuinely think that without it I would be losing my ability to move, building up a plethora of health problems that I wouldn't be able to come back from and be even more miserable about it than I was before.

Billybingbong · 21/01/2026 13:12

Just catching up while on my lunch break. Loads of different stuff being discussed, isn't it fab.

Ouchy @Iwouldratherbesinging , I hope you're not too sore. I had a fall a few yeara ago, I tripped over the step on the way out of the dentists. I kind of exaggerated a knee injury to justify why I couldn't get up, because I was too embarrassed to admit it was just because I was too bloody fat! The lovely staff brought me a chair to hoist myself up, then walked me to my car because they were worried about my non existent injury. That was a low point!🥴

@TragicMuse phew, hope you're feeling lighter after your, erm, eviction 🤪

@Springflowers2 I'm still on 5mg, and hoping I won't need to go any higher, so shouldn't need to worry about titrating down. I did briefly try 6.25, but the supression was off the scale for the first few days, then dropped to nothing. So I now do 5mg every 6 days, and find it keeps things steady all week.

@MG2026 I'm in the weigh daily camp. I only log it once a week, but its just become part of my daily routine to step on the scales every morning. I think it just helps me stay in control.

Hope you're all having a great week. I'm 3 days into couch to 5k, and still smiling. I can't say I'm particularly enjoying it, but am determined to stick it out.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 21/01/2026 13:49

Weigh-day for me today and I'm overjoyed that I made it without weighing every day. This is a massive acheivement for me. Weighing daily (and more) was negatively controlling my mood.

SW 129.4 kg
Wk1 125.5 kg (- 3.9 kg)
Wk2 122.4 kg (- 3.1 kg)
Total loss 7 kg (15.4 lbs)

It's very early days for me, but I'm so happy so far.

TragicMuse · 21/01/2026 13:56

I’m a daily weigher! It’s just part of my routine now - wee, weigh, wash face!

I am feeling much lighter, airy, like the lightest thistledown!

SilenceInside · 21/01/2026 13:59

@MrTiddlesTheCat congratulations on losing 1 stone plus and for achieving your goal of not weighing every day.

And I think my dog has joined in, saying: "Remember that time we barrelled into her on the beach without giving her time to brace, and she tried to jump over us, and snapped her Achilles tendon instead..." Uggh.

Glad it wasn't too bad @Iwouldratherbesinging - and I think we've all been there on the 'fat girl falling over' front. When I broke my ankle a year and a half ago, my main terror as we waited for the ambulance was 'how will they get me up?'

MCR24 · 21/01/2026 14:17

I hate falling even the thought of it makes me feel weird.

I weigh every day but record once a week I think it helps me be focused on the changes and if it goes up I can't bury my head in the sand or pretend I didn't know.

Same. My shoulder exploded when I fell over. A fracture so bad that I'm still in rehab 2 years later. But lying on the floor, once my senses returned, the only thing I could think about was how I was going to get up again. There were dozens of people watching and I was mortified. Thankfully some bloke grabbed me around the waist from behind and managed to channel his inner Hercules and lift me up.

MCR24 · 21/01/2026 16:49

I once fell over outside work luckily it was dark so noone saw, it really hurt my ankle I just sat on the floor until I could bring myself to try and move. I was close to my car so I used that to help me up. I think it'd be a bit more graceful these days.

FattyBumBumNoMore · 21/01/2026 17:39

MrTiddlesTheCat · 19/01/2026 10:02

Have any of you managed to stay on 2.5 mg or have you all gone up?

I know you posted a couple of days ago but I’m just catching up with the thread. I’ve stuck with 2.5mg for a full year now and it’s been perfect for me. Great supression with the ability to just maintain a degree of hunger and self restraint. Also has easily allowed me to take the breaks I’ve had off the jabs for my summer holiday and Christmas. Starting up again, you’re always on the loading dose. If it works, stick with it would be my advice.

PearlTeapot · 21/01/2026 20:05

@FattyBumBumNoMore how much have you lost?

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 21/01/2026 20:46

At the beginning, I was weighing weekly, but as the weight started coming off and the weekly rate slowed down, I started weighing daily to track the changes more closely. My next goal is to hit a total loss of 30kg at 92kg. I record my Saturday weight only, so based on my “official record” from last Saturday, I’m almost there but Sunday’s weigh in shows that I’ve already reached it, momentarily! But c’mon, body and scales, you’re driving me crazy at the moment, see the photo 😂

5st 1lb @PearlTeapot
So not mega fast, but I have had to take a few fortnight breaks with an operation, then my summer holiday and Christmas. I’ve really noticed that my suppression has been huge this week after two weeks off.
Ultimately I find it fascinating how we’re all on the same (but very different) journeys. I’m aiming for a goal weight of 9st so a touch over 4st to go for me.

That's good to know I'm not alone with the slow loss .
Just have to keep plodding on xx
