I’m late! Oh @PearlTeapot so so happy for you and your family, best update ever!
@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden thats amazing, really happy for you too!
lots of lovely updates on here, too many to mention all at once but sending a collective 💐
@eibbed999 looking hot girl!

I’ve been on husband duties as he’s just had a knee op at a hospital 5 hours away from our home (long story), back home now but have spent a few days at a travel lodge and eating in the hospital - healthy choices non existent!! I managed to live on bananas and chicken sandwiches, weigh in day tomorrow though, hopefully the carb heavy days won’t affect me too much.

eibbed999 · 09/02/2026 15:47

Hope things get back to normal as soon as possible @Iwouldratherbesinging - and I think you can let yourself off for a few rough days under the circumstances. Sounds like you did well, I'd have eaten everything in the vending machine!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 09/02/2026 17:50

I know the NHS contract out the catering but even so, breakfast options: fried eggs, greasy bacon, hash browns, sugary cereal, no yoghurts and fresh fruit, lunch was chips and cottage pie (double carbs) fish in batter, baked beans and some sort of unidentifiable hot pot or sandwiches, the ‘salad bar’ had lots of pasta and mayo options. There was another little cafe that had nothing but cake and hot chocolate. It’s only a small orthopaedic hospital but I’d have expected at least one healthy option. The travel lodge had a Burger King attached to it and I managed to resist! I avoided looking in vending machines!

You resisted Burger King - that's pretty much superhuman, it's one of my weaknesses!

Billybingbong · 09/02/2026 19:48

NHS food had a hand in getting me in this mess in the first place. I work in a hospital, and the food is pretty amazing, I used to visit the staff canteen at least 2 or 3 times a week. I'm sure the profits must have halved since I started the jabs!!

PearlTeapot · 09/02/2026 21:36

Lol @Billybingbong i think a lot of places will have noticed the less visits thanks to WLI, for me it was McDonald’s, our local branch must have thought we moved away!

@Iwouldratherbesinging hope hubbys recovery goes well ❤️‍🩹

This made me snort @PearlTeapot.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 10/02/2026 10:15

Well, happy to report that the glut of bananas and chicken sandwiches caused no issues and I’m another 1.3 lbs down.

This puts me at 10st 0.8lbs, I’m literally a poo away from 9st something! If only…..

Ive dropped my dosage again this week to 8mg, taking every 5 days though and it’s working well, will see how it goes this next couple of weeks then see if every 6 days will have the same effect. The thought of maintaining is quite scary!

MCR24 · 10/02/2026 12:56

@Iwouldratherbesinging what is your goal weight?

After 2 toilet visits yesterday I thought I'd weigh less today, but I'm still 69.2kg (same since Thursday) 😂

Iwouldratherbesinging · 10/02/2026 13:49

@MCR24 my original goal was 11st 7lbs, then I dropped it to 10st 4, I’m now thinking 9st 10 to give myself a 4lb buffer and not go over 10 stone. To be completely honest I’m scared to stop. I never ever thought I would be in this position, I was an obese child, teenager and adult (around 21st 7 at my highest), I have never known this body, it’s really hard to describe the feeling.

I still see myself as obese, ‘recovering obese person’? I’ve read so many times that the brain takes a while to catch up, but there’s a part of me that doesn’t want it to as I love the feeling when I catch a glimpse of my reflection and realise that’s me! I don’t want to lose that.

mamabeeboo · 10/02/2026 14:23

I've had a 2lb gain this morning, which I think is mostly down to salt and water/inflammation from running.

I decided to bring the running shoes out yesterday as training for my official 5k in 5 weeks. It's the first time I have run since November and I was getting all kinda of achievements and PBs, probably because I'm 3 stone lighter than I was. Hoping I can knock off another stone before the run.

My friend was asking how it feels to be slimmer and I just said it was like my mind didn't have to overthink everything about fitting into smaller places, parking the car slightly further away from the other car so I can open the door wide enough to get out, taking off my coat and not folding it to hide the size on the label. It doesn't have to be rollercoasters and airplane seatbelts, sometimes it's just the small everyday things that just take up space in my brain which I feel free from. I'm so grateful for MJ.

I'm the same always been obese so I'm aiming for mid healthy BMI as have no other criteria to aim for. I was a higher weight than you when I started and probably higher in the past than that too. I imagine we're feeling kind of similar, I definitely don't see thin in my reflection without clothes with clothes in still sometimes surprised!

Oh! The coat label thing made me think of taking clothes to try on in the few shops with a) my size and b) a changing room (which were getting rarer than hens teeth) and trying to either hide the hanger tags or pretend to be nonchalant about carrying 24 and 26.

And if/when they didn’t fit, returning them on the excuse of ‘too short’ or ‘itchy fabric’.

PearlTeapot · 10/02/2026 17:26

I got a size 18 jumper accidentally from Vinted (I thought it was a 20, my mistake) and it's too small. I really dont feel 6 stone 10 smaller! I've barely gone fro m a 24 to a 20.

Firstly so glad you are home @PearlTeapot

I am the same. I am 0.4lb off a 5 stone loss from my official starting weight. I started a size 24 and even now my size 24 gillet doesn't zip up!! I have managed to get a couple of pairs of trousers in 22, but I had expected more by now. 😏

TragicMuse · 10/02/2026 18:08

I think some others have said similar about staying in the same size for ages and then all of a sudden you’re in a smaller size and going down through them more quickly.

Thanks. I hope so. I was hoping to be a size 18 by the summer, but that seems a long way away at the moment.
I have a lovely dress that I bought the last time I lost a lot of weight and I would love to be able to wear it again this summer.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 10/02/2026 18:40

I'm at around 5.5 stone loss and really the only clothes that I have dropped sizes in are my work tunics. Everything else I am still wearing what I've always worn, even though I can see in the mirror that I have definitely changed shape. I think that's very normal for those of us who have more to lose - keep the faith and the changes will come.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 10/02/2026 19:01

Hang on in there everyone, it happens all of a sudden and you won’t be able to keep up! It’s that kitchen roll/loo roll analogy.
However…. I seem to have stalled now size wise, I’m a 14 top (thanks boobs) and a 12 bottom and haven’t lost any inches in the last stone I’ve lost. I want to be a 10 bottom and 12 top but I reckon I’d need to be about 9 stone for that! Maybe I’ll get a whoosh of lost inches.

Yes, exactly.

Once I got to size 16, everything sped up. I found that it wasn't long before I was in size 14, then almost immediately I was into 12s.

I think most people on this thread have had a similar experience.

So now I weigh 10st 9lb.
I'm 5' 3".

My clothes are size 8 - 10 in tops and size 10 in trousers.

OP posts:
MCR24 · 10/02/2026 21:17

Most of my trousers are now a size 12 started at a 26. I've just bought some Primark slim fit t-shirts in a small, I started in 24/26/XXL. I've lost more than what I weigh and it's taken 18ish months.

Also @PearlTeapot not all size 18s are created equally some are much smaller than others, even in the same shop!

@TragicMuse the lack of changing rooms really annoys me, I was thinking earlier I might cut some string the lengths of my bust, hips, waist etc for the next time I go shopping so I can hold it against clothes and least have an idea if something will be too big or small.

TragicMuse · 10/02/2026 21:25

@MCR24 - I carry a tape measure with me!

Yep, exactly the same for me, started at size 24, took ages to drop a size then felt like I was an 18-20 forever, then suddenly I was dropping a size every month or so. I was only a size 12 for a few weeks before needing to drop to a 10. I’m in maintenance now at size 10, but can get away with an 8 in tops/dresses (jealous of those of you who still have boobs)! I wore a fleece from Primark today that is an XS and fits perfectly. Hang on in there!

TheZingyFish · 10/02/2026 22:38

I too found it took ages to drop a dress size initially but think this is because I wasn’t a true size to start. I think over time some of my size 26/28 were stretched or were supposed to be relaxed fit but I was wearing them as a normal fit. Realistically I was probably a 28/30z So, as my clothes became looser and I thought I’d try a size down I should really of been buying a 26 still, but to wear it properly rather than it being stretched, etc.

I’m now down to a 22/24 having lost just over 6 stone, but what feels strangest to me is where I’ve lost weight. I used to have an hour glass figure, but strangely enough, my waist, although smaller, has probably lost the least inches and actually hasn’t lost any for the last 2.5 stones. I imagine that as I lose more weight my body shape will change many more times so who knows where I will end up. I do think though that I’ll probably settle at about a size 14/16 as the idea of being any smaller kind of frightens me. I want to be a size that I can maintain.
