@UsernameShmusername2024
I do love NSVs about chairs (and seats on planes, trains and buses).

@diggitydoo I totally agree with @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne feels counter intuitive, but works for me too.

The difference with MJ is that a day like that doesn't send me off track for the rest of the week. It is just one day - and it's more whole food not a whole pack of biscuits!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/01/2026 10:15

Confession time. I ate a whole packet of Jaffa Cakes and had a large bag of chips on one of my "factory resets".

So not exactly healthy stuff........ and I still lost weight, two days later.

It's so frustrating isn't it @diggitydoo! The human body is a mysterious, annoying-as-fuck thing at times. Are you tracking measurements as well? I'm not, I couldn't face measuring myself at the beginning, but wish I was - I definitely see a difference with clothes fitting and how I look even when the scales aren't showing a loss. Keep going - your hard work will show on the scales soon.

Morning all, hope we are okay. I have caught up on the thread and a lot of you are struggling. It can genuinely be anything, as we know weightloss isn't a perfect science. Hormones, sleep, stress, weather, monthly cycle, water, age etc can all have an impact on the scales, and all we see is the number. We will come out of the plateau. The weight will come off eventually. If you're anything like me, you have been overweight your whole life, so you can't wait another moment to be skinny 😅

I've raved on here in the past about fasting, and over the last couple of days I have been doing OMAD properly and actual fasting. Ie water only and one balanced meal. My weight has absolutely plummeted and I have dropped 4 lbs in 2 days. I think there are a lot of misconceptions about fasting and people "think" they are fasting, when in reaality all they are doing is skipping meals but still having juice/milky coffees which will butcher your metabolism since those drinks increase your insulin, so you might as wll have eaten. MJ really helps with this because when I have tried to fast in the past, I've felt very faint with headaches, nausea and couldn't manage it, so I am grateful. I don't even bother counting calories anymore, I just watch the time 😂Roll on 5pm!

No judgement here.... as long as it's working for you!

My point stands about being able to get back to it the following day 😀

mamabeeboo · 30/01/2026 10:28

Oh and I was on the underground the other day, and sat in ONE SEAT. Not two. And someone willingly sat next to me!

My legs didn't even touch the arm rests and I spent ages staring at the gap wondering where it had gone or where I'd have lost the weight from to suddenly sit lower down on the seat - I assume weight loss from thighs and bum area?

mamabeeboo · 30/01/2026 10:30

I envy you guys who can do one day of bingeing and get back on track. My one day of bingeing turns into a slipperly slope of a few days and I find it very hard to get my mindset back. So kudos to you!

TragicMuse · 30/01/2026 11:47

Not a whoosh but finally a bit of movement downwards!

I’m away this weekend and I don’t think my sis has bathroom scales so I’m going to report my WI today!

Week 48, 10mg

SW 19st 4lbs (Jan 2025, pre-MJ)
SW on MJ 18st 11.5lbs (1 Mar 2025)
CW 13st 1.5lbs
Change this week -1.5lbs
Total loss 86.5lbs/6st 2.5lb

I haven’t seen my sister for 5 months, in that time I’ve lost over 2 stone, in addition to the previous 4. And all my clothes are different - shapes, styles, everything! I’m looking forward to it in so many ways!

SilenceInside · 30/01/2026 12:07

I was wondering if anyone had any advice about discounts and ordering. I'm currently using Swift and ordering 10mg pens. With a £5 returning customer discount it is currently £244. Lloyds are doing an offer at the moment for £70 off a first order, which would make their 10mg £215. I am dithering about whether to switch to Lloyds for the discount, but what I am unsure about is whether Swift will care if I then order from them afterwards? My last order with Swift was on the 30th Dec, so it would be a 2 month gap if I go for the Lloyds order. I think Swift are one of the providers who are pretty flexible about this, but I have not had a longer gap like this before.

Wondering what other people think? Is it too much hassle for a £29 price difference?

Iwouldratherbesinging · 30/01/2026 12:44

I had a 2 month gap with Swift during the ‘pendemic’ @SilenceInside and they were absolutely fine. No questions asked when I re-ordered with them. I think I wrote on the notes section that I had ordered twice from a different prescriber.

SilenceInside · 30/01/2026 12:52

@Iwouldratherbesinging thanks, that's really helpful. Swift have seemed pretty decent so far but I haven't had any unusual situations or issues as yet, so no direct experience of how they respond.

eibbed999 · 29/01/2026 21:57

There's a lot of science behind it but the upshot is that for various complex reasons, certain people's bodies simply struggle to lose past a certain amount - your body effectively resets no matter how hard you try. There's more to it than that, and it certainly doesn't seem to be true for everyone (lots of people in this thread are proof of that!), but I do wonder if there's some merit in it for some of us. Personally I haven't managed to get much beneath the weight I am now for decades, no matter what I've tried. I'd like to think it is possible though, it just seems that I hit a barrier at a particular stage! I plan to keep pushing and see if I can nudge it down further.

I was stuck at 200lb for nine months on15mg and eating 800 calories. Now I've been stuck at about 160lb for at least six months same deal

eibbed999 · 30/01/2026 13:17

Crikey @Doggymummar, what a battle. I admire your resilience.

TragicMuse · 30/01/2026 13:56

I had started a book called Why We Eat (too much). It’s got lots about set point, leptin, insulin resistance. I must go back to it…

But as far as I can tell it’s not impossible to move your set point. I want to work on that, definitely.

recruitretain · 30/01/2026 14:14

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 30/01/2026 10:05

How much would you like to lose @recruitretain?

Exactly 10 big ones

one down

nine to go

What got things moving from the 200 for you?

SilenceInside · 30/01/2026 14:35

Week 82 weigh in.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
Last Week: 72.6kg (11st 6lbs)
Current: 71.1kg (11st 2lbs) -4lbs from last week.
Current BMI: 25.8

Goal: 65kg (10st 3lbs)

Finally, the Christmas blip has resolved, and I am back to 71.1kg which was my previous lowest weight, and back to 150lbs in total lost, some of them more than once! Seems like exercise is the key for me, so I need to maintain the daily step total and keep up with running at least 3 times a week without fail. Weirdly, for me, exercise seems to make me less hungry where I know that for some it can drive an urge to refuel.

flipent · 30/01/2026 14:48

@SilenceInside glad you're over the blip! Looks like I'm about a year behind you - the progress you've made is inspiring.

I've had similar with exercise vs appetite. It's a real struggle on any days where I'm nauseous anyway - but that only seems to be after I move up a dose. The move to 7.5 coincided with a cold and was a rough time!

What ? That’s actually impossible not to lose weight on 800 calories for 9 months

it’s physiologically impossible

a person in a coma has to be fed more calories than that just to maintain weight

have you missed a digit on that figure ?

SilenceInside · 30/01/2026 16:24

It's not impossible if you are older, short, female, with possibly hormonal related changes to metabolism, been through cycles of dieting repeatedly etc etc. It is quite unusual, but not impossible.

I read that @TragicMuse - I like a bit of popular science! He certainly seemed to know what he was talking about in lots of ways. Though it would be interesting to hear his perspective on WLI. As a bariatric surgeon he probably hates them! But one of the things that stuck in my mind from it was him explaining that sometimes people could have their gastric sleeves fitted etc, and that the procedures would be a success - but some patients (not all, but some) would still never get down to the weight they wanted, no matter how little they ate or how they changed their lives, their bodies would still cling to a certain amount of what they'd gained. I vaguely remember there being a link between the length of time you'd been obese and how hard the body wanted to stay that way!

I doubt it. 8000 calories also doesn't compute!

I'm sure she knows what she ate! Most of us are quite controlled about eating and calories, and sometimes our bodies just don't make sense!

it’s just not possible
