I hope it’s okay to start a new thread as we are getting dangerously close to the end of thread 1

My current stats are

MJ 2.5mg just taken dose three
planning on staying on 2.5mg for my next pen
SW: 13 stone 9.4lbs
Week 1: lost 11 lbs
Week 2: lost 3 lbs
Total weightloss: 1 stone (a small jack russel terrier)
GW: 9 stone 7

We have some newbies joining mid month so let’s cheer them on - we’ve got this ladies!

@Rubytoes I thought the “golden dose” was only safe to take at the end of the 4th week/start of the 5th week, since it’s only ok for 30 days from opening?

I apparently gained 300g during my weekend away. Pretty sure it's water from the beige food and waste stuck in my system. Im also at the start of my period, so more water. Look forward to the next whoosh.

So I decided to weigh again today as I didn't lose yesterday but I'd been on my period and felt like I'd been holding water. Weighed this morning and 2.4lb loss so that's 14.4lbs lost in January. Thrilled!

Nobody can advise you if its safe to use a pen longer than 30 days
Some of us that have been on the injections a while have made a pen stretch 7 weeks while we go into maintenance
But its on us alone to take that risk

@Justbloodylovecrisps i hope things work out for you on mounjaro. I’m considering switching from wegovy as they say the side effects are less. I have two jabs left from the first month on wegovy and I guess I’ll think about it for now. Keep us posted!

I'm planning on extending mine longer than 30 days with at least the golden dose, though I do have a lax attitude to use by dates in general 😂. As you say, it's up to the individual to take the risk, but my current plan is to keep my 5mg refrigerated and if the higher dose doesn't suit me I'll drop back down, count clicks, and use it for a few extra weeks.

Dose 3 of 2.5 this morning, and weigh-in #2

SW 99.8kg
CW 97.5kg

So 5lbs down so far in 2 weeks, which is OK. Not earth-shattering, but OK.

I'm off to Vegas for a week tomorrow, so that will be challenging haha! Then I have 1 more 2.5 dose before I move up to 5.

Bolt have kindly sent me 5 needles with my current pen so I'm actually considering double-dosing from this pen if it has the "golden dose" and doing 1 full dose then 1 part dose on the same day or a couple of days later, has anyone else tried this?

You'll need separate syringes to do the golden dose with, they do send 5 needles just incase the one you use doesn't prime properly or whatever

I thought I'd be able to do this too as I've got 5 needles (I think they send 5 as standard), but when I asked a few pages back someone who'd been on the WLI last year said that the pen is locked after the 4 doses (so won't turn to release the plunger). You might be able to force it, but the easier way is to get your own syringes and needles.

I did a test run with my first pen. I needed DH to force it past the locking mechanism, but then it worked fine, same as a normal dose. So next time I'll be injecting it.

As for needles, can you not get more of the same in the UK? I got a box of 100 with my first prescription.

This issue is that you can’t always force the pen to do a fifth dose, either it won’t unlock or it breaks in the process. That’s why people buy normal needles they can insert to pull out the liquid.

I think I’m being quite dim as dont know what we do with the syringe to extract the golden dose. Does anybody have a video?

jab 2 yesterday - felt fine but then slept very deeply for the first part of the night but woke up sweating. Then usual insomnia before falling asleep again. Felt very tired this morning and questioned if the fatigue continues like this whether I will be able to stay on this long enough. But had a toast with cheese and coffee and that has eased the tiredness bit. Will get some protein in later. Have lost 1.8kg or 1kg depending on which starting weight I use (the one in the morning without clothes and not eaten or end of day with clothes after dinner)

Get a sterile syringe
Put the needle into the red bit of the pen (where the normal needle would screw in to)
And use the plunger of the syringe to get the liquid into that

I didn’t use the golden dose this month as I wanted to move up from 2.5mg to 5mg.

I did see if the pen would work though and used pliers to force the plunger out to the “1”, but it seemed like it wasn’t possible to push liquid out that way (my supplier gave me extra pen needles). So I’ve ordered the syringes recommended above for the golden dose in a few weeks.

I have decided to stay on 2.5mg and had dose 5 today. Loss so far has been 13.5lbs. A lot of this was the first week and then this last week. I seemed to stall in the middle two weeks but wonder if this was from time of the month and being a bit constipated.

Has anyone's taste buds changed on wli ? ( I'm on wegovy still .25mg but move up to .50mg on Friday )
I now crave very sharp tasting things Gerkins , Beetroot in vinegar , and salty jarred olives . I also put loads of black pepper on my meals as well .

Am glad am logging this journey as am starting to see a pattern now on the doses for me. Very helpful.

By Tuesday mornings, the effects have worn off until inject again Thursday. Highest supression is Fri/Sat/Sun.

Ill need to concentrate a bit more to eat OK during these 2 days. But nothing will fill my stomach. It's like it won't forget and wants me to eat it all 🤣. I will not at e300 a pop! Feck off!!

Same. I haven’t really noticed any impact of 2.mg. Marginally less food noise and slightly better saiety but no appetite suppression.

And now in 2nd week I get hungry very quickly. Sad I was not a super responder but hopefully 5mg is better!

I bought myself some cherry tomatoes the other day. DH is now concerned that I am a replica and the real me has been abducted by aliens.

I did my 4th dose last week and tried to turn the pen to see if i could get the 5th dose ready. The pen turned pretty easily to the number 1 position. Hoping I can add a needle, prime and then have a further dose this week. Or am I missing something and it wont work, as the plunger won't now plunge down?

@TheBrickCritic I syringed out the golden dose on my first pen and then after tried to force the twist to see how hard it was and it actually seemed relatively easy with a bit of force. I may try it on my next pen.

I have been reading up and I can take my next dose a few days early as long as I leave 72 hours so seing as I am desperate to move my jab date from Monday to Thurs/fri - I might just do my next jab this Friday, especially as I think I am now almost immune to the 2.5mg and need to move up 😂
