Unexpected NSV. May not have lost weight but I went for a BP check today and it was 124/70.

2weeks ago I was at 170+/95+

Not all down to MJ and healthier habits I'm sure, as I've also been on a starter dose of meds for it, but I'm feeling pretty happy right now 🙂

Thata brilliant you must be pleased

Ocelotfeet27 · 28/01/2026 18:33

Hello everyone, great to hear how well it's going for most people. Sadly zero effect on me thus far in terms of appetite suppression and 1kg weight loss in first two weeks and nothing since. Im going to try the 5mg but if that doesn't work will give up, no point paying £££ to be as fat as you started 😁 if anyone has any tips on what's worked for you in terms of diet and exercise please do share.

Peachypips78 · 28/01/2026 18:43

Just went for it and took my first injection. I’m terrified of what’s going to happen now!

BG2015 · 28/01/2026 18:44

@Octagoneaway I'm about to do my 5th dose of WG tomorrow which will be my first 0.5 dose. Next Thursday im away for 4 days on a European city break so im going to delay my 6th dose and take it on the Sunday when I get back. I've checked that I'm ok to do that and its fine

I felt the same after my first one, feeling like something awful was going to happen. It didn’t at all. You’ll be fine x

I was literally preparing myself to die just in case and informed my friend that I had taken my dose 😂 anything that got some negative press coverage about side effects i think it will probably happen to me.

Im still a bit scared of pancreatitis and what not, but im scared of the consequences of obesity too.

Hope all goes well the next few hours.

Thank you. I don’t want to undo all my good work, but I don’t think that’s likely. My concerns are more about bathroom access and having energy for all the activities that are planned. I’m glad you’re thinking of doing the same thing, this has to fit in with our lives! Hope you have a great trip, where are you off to?

Im finding my fitness pal app really useful, tracking what I eat and making sure im staying around 1200 cals (trying to keep am eye on protein and fibre while im at it). I also log my water on it so that every time I refil my glass I logged it and aim to drink at least 3 litres. The other thing im doing thats working for me is getting up before everyone in the house to go to the gym. I find if ive dragged myself out of bed at 6am, im going to make it worthwhile, whereas if im doing it later in the day ill make up an excuse.

That’s brilliant. You must be so chuffed. I’m hoping for something similar and lowering my BP was what really motivated me to do this.

I am going to take my BP reading next week as that will be four weeks since starting MJ. I’m on two lots of meds and would love to be able to come off even one of them.

Thank you, I'm absolutely buzzing!

The high BP was a new thing for me, and was also one of my motivations to lose weight.

I had readings over Xmas and new year that were stage 2 hypertension verging on crisis, so I was put on a low dose (5mg) of amlodipine just after new year. That helped with my top reading but the lower was still 90+ at my last check 2 weeks ago.

To get a reading today in the "normal" range was absolutely fab. Plan now is to stick with the meds as they are and continue with MJ. I'm due a review of my bloods re the pre-diabetes in June so if the BP stays good they will look at tapering off the meds then.

First day in the office since starting and ate way too many treats! I still came in around 1500 cals but feel bleurgh. I even prepped and took lunch though couldn’t finish it all. Need a rethink for my next office day! Much more in control when I’m at home.

Alltheyellowbirds · 28/01/2026 22:54

Half way through my third week I’m so glad I’ve got a 5mg pen coming soon, I seem to have pretty much lost the suppression now. Eating much bigger meals. Still no weight loss since the end of the first week either 😭 I am at least managing to stick to healthy food so that’s something.

cautiouslyoptimistic3 · 28/01/2026 23:10

Joining in too. I started MJ on Monday. Like others I’ve been back and forth over last few weeks whether I should do it and finally decided to jump in. Was convinced I was going to react badly to it. But has been ok - just some exhaustion today.
Haven’t really had much hunger so have made myself eat out of habit Still need to keep increasing my protein and water - it’s not bad but could be better.

Newstartplease24 · 29/01/2026 07:32

Morning all.
Who asked about psyllium? - I agree with the person who said it doesnt much matter. You can get it loose but capsules are so convenient when travelling. The dose on my packaging is 2 capsules twice a day but I tend to to do two capsules once a day and that’s good for me.

I had a great few days in terms of low food noise and then somehow found myself eating crisps last night! Someone else opened them but a few days ago I think I’d have just mentally filed them as “not for me”.

thanks for the Weightless recommendation

ChilledProsecco · 29/01/2026 07:46

Week 2 & I’ve lost 0.3kg - finding it pretty depressing. Last week was 71.4 now 71.1kg

I’d been away for the weekend & honestly wasn’t ridiculous - but it’s really slowed things down.

I have good suppression & no food noise, but it’s just such a struggle for me to lose weight at the best of times. I’m eating toddler amounts/portions, not really snacking, drinking alcohol & running 5k’s a couple of times a week & trying to walk as much as possible.

However I would be struggling even more without MJ & would have given into hunger by now, with a far slower weight loss.

No social activities planned this weekend so that will hopefully push me towards a weight starting in the 60’s rather than 70’s.

Peachypips78 · 29/01/2026 08:31

Well I didn’t die overnight so that’s good GrinGrin

I have woken up this morning feeling absolutely no different from normal. I was hoping to wake up thinking thin thoughts. When will it start?!

Peachypips78 · 29/01/2026 08:33

@BG2015how much have you lost on 0.25?

I've been on mj since Last march, with a break of three months and in my opinion? Never 🙈
I still see myself as overweight, I still buy clothes in a size L
I don't feel any different

Well done on not dying overnight! First goal accomplished!

It is entirely possible not to have any side effects - I had two days of feeling like I had trapped wind in my first week but once I upped my fibre intake that has gone away and hasn’t come back

blackandwhitefluffycat · 29/01/2026 08:43

I’ve had no side effects at all, apart from the positive ones!

Another couple of lbs down today, total WL so far 1 st 5 lbs!

Ralphiesaurus · 29/01/2026 08:52

That's a great start, @peachypips78 ! 😁 I was terrified of side effects too when I started but it's been fine. Jab #4 done yesterday and going up to 5mg next week (at which point I expect I will be all worried again...!)

Well done on such a great loss @blackandwhitefluffycat ! I haven't weighed for a while as I tend to fluctuate a lot and don't want to put myself off (oh, the mind games!!) but clothes are feeling looser. Nowhere near getting into my favourite jeans... but that time will come I hope!

blackandwhitefluffycat · 29/01/2026 09:26

Thanks @Ralphiesaurus Your clothes feeling looser is a great sign that it’s going well! I’m feeling so positive about it all at the moment. I have my last 2.5 jab tomorrow which will be the magic dose before moving up to 5mg next week.

FrothyCothy · 29/01/2026 09:39

Side effects I think tend to peak around day 3 after jabbing for a lot of people - I definitely feel nauseous and overly full on Weds/Thurs and I’m a Monday jabber.

Despite my indulgence yesterday I finally saw a whoosh on the scales! Just hoping it stabilises there for a bit rather than hopping back up again. Got my PE kit on ready for the gym at lunch.
