Incidentally I bought a couple of Huel protein shakes in the weekly shop at the start of this week, thinking if I don't feel like eating I can sip them for both hydration and nutrition.

Good idea or not?

notcomfortable · 22/01/2026 11:56

Its 24 hours after injecting 2, of 2.5 to make 5mg
(I have been in the game long enough to feel comfortable doing this, please do not mess around with doses without talking to your provider and I am in no way endorsing you do this!)
And.......
Nothing 😂
I was expecting a ton of side effects to hit me, a bit of suppression but nothing!
Still the same hunger, not a single side effect to talk about
And in fact I even went to the gym yesterday 😱

On the exercise note I forgot to say the other day that even though I’m eating very low calorie, I’m having no issues doing my workouts, and I still have lots of energy. However I’ve always done them, and I see exercise as something that I have to do, like washing or taking the kids to school, rather than optional, so I just get on with it. I did a 40 min weight workout yesterday afternoon (I stick to light weights as I build muscle easily), then brisk walking on my walking pad last night, which I’m loving.

glutenisthedevil · 22/01/2026 12:11

Week 3 was all going so well for me... until today.
I made a turkey mince chilli yesterday and noticed a little bit of heartburn before bed but nothing major. Upon waking this morning I had to run for the toilet and have felt nauseous ever since. Clearly something in the meal didn't agree and I'm thinking possibly the onions as apparently they're a common trigger, slowing gastric emptying and fermenting in the gut.

I weigh and take my 4th jab on Saturday and I'm quite hopeful. My jeans have started falling down, which is great, but I've had to start wearing longer tops to save my embarrassment!

intentionals · 22/01/2026 13:32

I am annoyed. Irrationally so. Having spent most of the week on the loo I was feeling confident I would have a good loss this week. And then my period started. So am bloated and typically don’t lose any weight during my period.

very aware that most of the loss would have been artificial water weight etc but that’s not the point 😂

recruitretain · 22/01/2026 13:38

MrTiddlesTheCat · 22/01/2026 09:41

Day 2 of jab 3 and the effects are getting stronger and I don't like it. Yesterday I only ate half my dinner and this morning was the same with breakfast. I don't want it to work like that. I want to eat my meals and enjoy them. Meals have never been an issue for me, they're healthy balanced and correct portions. The problem was the ton of crap I ate in between meals. I stopped doing that from day one and lost 6 lbs a week. I don't want to lose faster because I'm barely eating. I want slow and steady.

Do you calorie count and what are your limits

I have bought some my GP said they are a very good emergency intake of protein if no time to prep a clean meal

No I don't. I have a load of old weightwatchers menu cards that I use for all my meals, but I don't count points or anything. I just like the recipes.

HRT update - just in case anybody was interested

I hadn’t changed my HRT before starting to take Mounjaro but was advised by the online pharmacy that my oral progesterone might not be absorbed so well.

Anyway I have just had possibly the nicest, most understanding doctors appointment I have ever had.
I didn’t feel even slightly judged about being on weight loss medication, tbh I had got myself really worked up about having to explain my choices, but I wrote down everything I wanted to say and he was just lovely

He happily has changed my oral progesterone to a different dosage and said to keep in touch if there were any changes - bloody hell it’s taking me three weeks to actually speak to a doctor and those three weeks I have just spent panicking about what they’re going to say - in the end it was totally practical advice and actually I felt that he totally sympathised with me when I was explaining why I wanted to go on mounjaro in the first place

Anyway, so far I’ve lost 16lbs…. Only 42 to go and I’m feeling really confident! 🎉

Diet wise I am still only eating 3 meals a day - in sensible sized portions - I don’t feel like I’m missing out at all even though I am cooking different food and larger portions for my family

A friend once said to me that you shouldn’t worry about the food you’re missing out on when you’re dieting as when you get your goal weight it will still be there and you will enjoy it so much more!

Well I'm on day 2 of my work trip.

Today is the day I usually take my jab but I'm not home till tomorrow so have had to delay it. I'm still getting decent suppression.

We went out for Italian last night and I had fish with vegetables. It was lovely. I did have a few glasses of wine but didn't go crazy with the drinks.

The office I was in today had a nice lunch of sandwiches with snacks. I was very comfortable just having a few small sarnies. However, I did l look at the sweet treats which I've not done since starting. I think it's to be expected given I'm late for my dose.

blackandwhitefluffycat · 22/01/2026 16:05

@BooptotheFloof I’m glad you’ve got it sorted. How many tablets are you taking a night now, if you don’t mind me asking? They said I couldn’t take more than two. To be honest though, I’m glad I changed to the patches because the tablets really dried my body out to the extent that I’d wake with my eyelids stuck to my eyes, even after using eye drops and with drinking lots, and I’m not getting that now. That’s great re the weight loss!

@intentionals that’s annoying! But it will come off - it happened to me in week 2 but I’ve been losing since.

I’ve never had protein shakes or anything like that, I just have a couple of eggs or some natural yoghurt etc.

goldylock · 22/01/2026 17:13

@BooptotheFloof

Thats great Boop. If you're on 200 mg, what did he up it to?

Also, did he have any advice?

I've on my to do list next week to email gynae.

goldylock · 22/01/2026 17:15

Injection 4 today. Funny how you get used to it...

No effects. Taste buds back to normal today. No suppression.

Gonna hit the 5 mg next week 😬, if they allow me...

Whatstfpoint · 22/01/2026 17:47

Very hungry today on day one after fourth jab. But hungry and not craving junk, which is good. I might just aim for maintenance on these days until the latest jab fully kicks in. I ate more, but make healthy choices. Basically eating decent food. My body clearly thinks im about to starve and who am I to say no lol.

JHound · 22/01/2026 18:05

Finally got my first pack - the needle scares me (thought it would be more like an iron test - it is not!)

Going to do my first on Saturday as have a social event tomorrow so want to enjoy that.

FrothyCothy · 22/01/2026 18:40

I don’t feel the needle going in really but it does start to sting when I do the count to 6 bit

MJstarterbefore40 · 22/01/2026 18:48

Just ate a massive bowl of pasta with chorizo, I think I've definitely eaten too much! I should have stopped half way through. Definitely the biggest meal I've eaten since I started.

I have the biggest fear of needles, like I hate hate hate them
These are so so so small
I promise x

BooptotheFloof · 22/01/2026 19:24

@goldylock @blackandwhitefluffycat im on 2x200 a day every other fortnight at the moment

He gave me so many options

I could go up to 3 for the first month of being on MJ and also when I go up a dose

Mirena coil which I declined immediately because I can’t bear the thought of

Combined patch but that apparently comes with a higher risk of breast cancer

But in the end I’ve gone for the progesterone tablets one every day but going to two a day when I go up a dose … if I go up a dose

I’m planning on staying on 2.5 for a while I think but I’ll see how I go I get the next month

BooptotheFloof · 22/01/2026 19:28

But also - he did give the warning that they don’t really know what effect MJ has on progesterone absorption - which in itself comes with a higher risk of cervical cancer

So really it’s balancing the risks against knowing that by loosing weight I will sort out my high blood pressure and hopefully actually sort out some of the menopause issues too!

goldylock · 22/01/2026 19:30

@BooptotheFloof

Sorry Boop, do you mean you're on 2 x 100 mg utrogestan per day at the moment? That's standard dose.

Utrogestan comes in 100 mg round capsules (is it utrogestan?).

Sorry for not following what he is suggesting (I'm sure its me!).

Thanks.

Yes this is why I wasn’t able to go up any more - I was told that very little is likely to be absorbed orally, so she wasn’t having any of the adding more Utrogestan idea.

From what I’ve read breast cancer risk is increased with patches if they’re above your waist, which is why the instructions state they must be below.

Me too. Where are you ordering from? I did Boots last time, because I could collect, but would be happy to save some cash.

still not lost anymore weight, but I’m staying hopeful for now. I’ve tracked and been honest about portions, and I’ve done 3 exercise classes this week. Something has to give. Soon.

Am in Ireland. I've no idea of the UK (just in case!).

I did get my first 2.5 mg pen from Boots Ireland. I believe the 5 mg pen is about e75 more than the 2.5 mg. So, over e300.

Also, in case you are in Ire, keep the receipts to get 20% back in tax credit in 2027.
