Happy Mother’s Day my lovely ladies

Rookie rookie error here - took my bonus dose on Thursday and misread the side of the syringe - did 70 not 60 of my 10mg pen. Well the barn doors have been well and truly blown off today - thank god i have been outside to watch dds football match. Bless DDs, I couldn’t really manage my breakfast in bed either.

Jins · 16/03/2026 09:28

Morning losers!

Lovely day yesterday. Personally wouldn’t return to the restaurant (Brewski for background) but the lads enjoyed it. I just had a small poutine which was insanely peppery and that was plenty. Some of the sharing platters that came out were obscene. I don’t think I’d have coped even pre MJ.

At some point today my sewing machines will be moving into their new home. It’s been a long time coming. So I’ll be busy trying to install order into the room they were in and I’m not looking forward to it. I’m hoping to find the box of stuff put aside for eBay/Vinted as I could do with some extra funds.

HeidiLite · 16/03/2026 15:18

Happy monday losers!
Had a busy weekend and now totally out of energy. And wow alcohol makes a difference, and not in a good way. Saw friends for dinner, had just a couple of glasses and my watch and health app were screeching about how badly I slept, how my heart rate was up and whatnot. Was really good wine though and may need to repeat it this weekend, nice restaurant for DHs birthday.

Have to be mindful though, last time I went to the same restaurant I had to ask them to pack my main course to go, as I was stuffed after the starter. And it's a proper French restaurant, portions are by no means huge. Before MJ I could get through their 8 course tasting menu no problem 😁🐷

Happy Monday! Feeling accomplished, despite work stress. I got up at 6 and did 20mins exercise, made breakfast & lunch and a whole heap of chores then out the door by 7:45. Then this evening bought some shopping on the way home, to make macaroni cheese for the boys as DS1 has a huge painful ulcer. So bland soft food only. Added spinach so we got something nutritious. But am v full of stodge.
Tomorrow I have my follow up appt with the breast clinic, I think they mentioned an MRI. So a later start to the day.

@myladyjane hope you’re feeling ok after the extra large dose
@HeidiLite 8 courses sounds like a mission nowadays
@Jins hope the new sewing machine home is all coming together.

I forgot, I bought myself a Mother’s Day present. A beautiful abstract painting by my neighbour who is incredibly talented. It makes me so happy to look at it. It has pride of place in our living room.

Polkadotdash · 16/03/2026 22:38

I’m shopping around tonight to see if i can find a deal on 7,5mg MJ. I spotted on the mj comparison site that Eli Lilley are charging the design of the pens to reduce the amount of liquid in the pen to stop the golden dose amounts. Just thought I’d flag it first those of you using needles to extract the extra liquid.

I also contacted Get a Drip to get advice on the lack of effectiveness of the 5mg pen and my weight gain. The advice was pretty much ‘eat less and move more’. Oh. If only I’d thought of that before I’d spent £150 with your pharmacy. Ffs.

Polkadotdash · 16/03/2026 22:39

*changing not charging

myladyjane · 17/03/2026 07:26

@Polkadotdash yes re the pen changes. It’s a reason why I want to start titrating down tbh as it does make a huge differenc

@DGmaintaining how lovely re the painting.

my stomach settled after a very uncomfortable Sunday but interestingly not particularly high levels of suppression or anything and I actually had a little gain today (like less than a lb so I don’t count it). So seems my days of side effects = losses have gone.

I am feeling oddly dissatisfied and a bit scared atm. Going through the fear of putting it all back on, mj being bad for long term health (bone density and muscle loss), looking a bit scraggly. Not sure why, all a bit odd.

on the plus side, still enjoying my movement. Got a nice little circuit in the gym going, already moved up a little with the weights. Interestingly my DOMS is a lot more manageable - we’ve spoken before about a tendency to that if hyper mobile so I wonder if it’s the anti inflammatory impact?

Jins · 17/03/2026 07:44

I’ve got a referral code for £40 off at WePrescribe if it’s any help to anyone.

Sewing machine is in place! The plan for the worktop bench isn’t going to work as it’ll be too wide so I’ve treated myself to two folding sewing machine cabinets for the overlocker and coverstitch. I feel a bit lost without my machines all set up and ready to go but I’ll cope for a couple of days.

I had a chat with the lads about the manosphere documentary. I haven’t watched it yet but wanted their views on whether it was a thing or a bit exaggerated and they both seem to think it’s an issue with school aged kids. I’ll try to watch it this week although when I’ll find time between DHs obsessive war coverage and rewatching detectorists I’m not sure.

Weight is slightly up but it’s almost certainly down to constipation as my stomach has shrunk this week. Might actually look ok in a bikini this year 🤣 I’ve only lost 2lbs but my body has changed a lot in the last two weeks. I don’t have any trousers that fit so I’m living in leggings and a T-shirt that was fine when we were in York is now swimming on me. It’s very very odd.

Today I’ll be moving the rest of my vast fabric stash to a new hiding place then I need to start wardrobe planning in earnest.

HeidiLite · 17/03/2026 08:48

@myladyjane only bad for muscle mass if people don't do strength training. I'm more muscular than I've ever been in my life. It's so much more fun to work out when slimmer. First of course it's easier to do any cardio or bodyweight exercises. But also it's so much fun to see those muscles now there isn't a fat layer hiding them.

Interesting about DOMS, you know I also haven't really had any, even when I have taken breaks from exercise. Hmm.

Afternoon losers!

DH being away means I go to bed early and thus wake up early. I did a nice 30min slow yoga peloton session first thing. Had eggs for breakfast, made DS2’s lunch and put two laundry loads before heading off to my breast clinic follow up.

Boob update: Consultant found another large cyst, this time on my other breast. Is this an age thing? Or could this be a reaction to weight loss? Dr GPT seems to think it’s an age thing.

Also had my first MRI, my god they’re uncomfortable! Wasn’t mentally prepared for all the needles today. At least three people have seen my naked breasts today and at least another two have looked at them via an MRI scanner. The nicest person was the nurse in the consultant’s office who held my hand while he drained the cyst.

Thelittlestranger · 17/03/2026 15:41

I went through a similar process in the Autumn @DGmaintaining and I found I got quite used to just wapping them out in front of anyone...to your other point, the lumps I went about I think I could only feel because I had lost weight. Same with the cyst I found on my belly. I wouldn't have been able to feel it before....

Good they drained it there and then though?

HeidiLite · 17/03/2026 15:57

ah glad to hear it was just a cyst and already sorted. DS has his ultrasound for his neck lump on Thursday, I am trying not to worry about it until then.

As for getting boobs out, luckily I'm from sauna culture so we are just habitually naked. I had to laugh though once - was just home from a business trip to the US where I had a massage, and I remember how over-considerate the masseuse was. First of course left the room and then made sure no bodypart that was not actively massaged was uncovered. Carefully covered me when I needed to turn. But after that I went to a spa in Germany and the therapis there just put her hands on her hips and ordered me to strip 😁No careful faffing with towels.
I was fine but an average American would have had a heart attack.

OP posts:
MJalltheway · 17/03/2026 17:43

Ha @HeidiLite ivr had similar experiences in Thailand where they definitely did not do modesty towels!

still fed up here, still suffering from back pain. Went for physio today so hoping I will start to see some improvement at some point. It feels like it'll be another month before I can start to get back to exercise though.
We're also supposed to be going to a gig the weekend after next, putting off making the call about that. Luckily it should be something with sought after tickets so I'm sure we can resell.

In the meantime I've booked my two eldest in for meningitis B jabs - one already at uni and one going in September. Cannot imagine how awful it is for the families of the young people who have died of it. You just don't think you'll send them off to uni and not get them back. Heartbreaking

HeidiLite · 17/03/2026 18:57

thanks for the reminder, will need to check DCs vaccinations. They got MenB when small so may need a booster?

OP posts:
Zempy · 17/03/2026 20:15

I think my DC are too old (25 and 28) to have had Men B vaccines?

Talking of physios, I have been referred to a new one, who is probably the best I have ever seen, which after a lifetime of hypermobility treatment is saying something! He has really pinpointed current hip issue and identified the problem.

I might even do some of the exercises he gave me!!

He thinks I also have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which has been suggested in passing before…

Weight is stable at 8:0 although I am hoping to gain a pound or two as I have reduced to 5mg for the second week running. At this level I will have a years worth of product in my fridge, and I have a maintenance call with Oushk on Friday.

Polkadotdash · 17/03/2026 20:44

@tinyemmy i think you’re right you know, about staying on the jabs. If im jabbing and gaining how much would I be gaining with no jabs. Depressing. I bought some nice trousers in Primark today but I had to have a size 16. Sigh.

And @DGmaintaining that sounds like you’ve had a right old day being prodded and poked. Early bed again tonight, I hope?

Polkadotdash · 17/03/2026 20:46

@MJalltheway how much will the men B jab be? I already had it on my list of pre uni prep for my eldest. I’m wondering if there might be a supply and demand type issue in the coming months.

BlueLimes · 17/03/2026 21:51

The men B vaccine was rolled out in 2015. But only to infants.

Private jabs cost £220 (£110x2 given 4 weeks apart).
It doesn’t cover all strains though. Best treatment is antibiotics given promptly.

Having said that - I probably will book appointments for DC. It’s quite accessible- Boots and Superdrug provide.

BlueLimes · 17/03/2026 21:57

@DGmaintaining I've had 3x breast cysts removed, 16 years ago but had to have an op/ stitches. I seem to remember the dr saying some people are just more prone to them - I know there are age and ethnicity associations. Recover well ! And try to take things a bit easy for a few days.

myladyjane · 18/03/2026 08:12

@DGmaintaining please the appointment was okish and you have some answers. I have a cyst-y left boob and my mate is very prone to them so pretty common. And showing your boobs to 3 people in one afternoon - takes me back to my youth mate.

I also now have men b on my list for the girls. Not gonna rush but where I grew up in the 80s we had an outbreak in the next town over and friends of friends were very ill so it’s always been something in the back of my consciousness.

@Jins have you watched small prophets if you like the detectorists? If not can I heartily recommend (to everyone). Quite the loveliest, funny magical thing I’ve seen in years and absolutely the balm we all need. I have never seen my dd react to a tv show n such an emotional way - Mackenzie Crook is a genuine treasure.

i started my morning bellowing Whitney Huston at the top of my lungs in an ncp car park. May you all have similar days

Jins · 18/03/2026 08:17

@DGmaintaining what a day! Take it easy for a while.

Lovely quiet day at home yesterday and I managed to get quite a bit done in my new sewing room. The room downstairs looks like we’ve been burgled so I’m going to try to deal with that today. I’m getting my first odd box of fruit and veg today. Bought a big one with the 50% offer but will continue with a smaller one.

I’ve been trying to find out what a WePrescribe video consultation entails. It doesn’t say I need my scales or passport handy but I’ll probably dig them out just in case. Had an email from Oushk saying they have brought the prices down but they look the same to me. If I get approved by WePrescribe on Friday I’ll switch to Oushk’s flex plan I think, at least until I get a feeling for the new prescriber. At BMI 21.3 I’m ok for most maintenance providers as a new patient but I do like to put a plan in place for the future.

All your talk of meningitis vaccines has been quite sobering. I remember DS1 coming home from uni as he didn’t feel well and every symptom he described screamed meningitis so I rang 111 before he’d even taken his coat off. It turned out to be scarlet fever which was bad enough.

Edit - @myladyjane we’ve just binged Small Prophets which is probably why Detectorists is on a rewatch. Absolutely brilliant.

26inprogress · 18/03/2026 08:33

@myladyjanewhat a cheery post, thank you!! I also have men b on my list for my son, not rushing either but I am going to look at it.

I’ve started and lost posts about 5 times in the last few days so hopefully I’ll make it this time!

How’s the Pilates training going @Thelittlestranger? Sounds amazing, I’m really starting to see results from my 3 weekly reformer Pilate sessions, I feel longer if that makes sense!

sorry for all the job troubles, hopefully everyone having better weeks.

@DGmaintainingyour painting sounds lovely and how nice it was painted by your neighbour too. Sorry to hear work challenging and about how you’re feeling. Appt sounds draining, hope you’re ok.

@tinyemmy how did your appt go?

@HeidiLitehope DS gets on ok.

@MJalltheway sorry to hear you’re still suffering 😫. The meningitis stuff is really scary I agree, so sad..

@JinsMother’s Day sounds lovely!

Thanks for all the good wishes, contract signed and I start on Friday! Excited but apprehensive too which I know is normal!
changed my Selfridges personal shopper as managed to get a John Lewis cancellation and that’s def more my price range, knew that Selfridges would bring something amazing that was £00s! Went yesterday and got a gorgeous denim dress, a reiss dress with 60% off, a couple of pairs of jeans and some tops. The reiss jeans are a 26 waist so size 6-8, there’s no way I’m that size, I’m between a 10-12, bloody random sizing again! Weight has gone up, I’ve had massive munchies this week and loads more carbs plus champagne last weekend. I know what I need to do!!

happy day everyone, I’m going for a long walk with a friend in the sun.

26inprogress · 18/03/2026 10:56

Forgot to say I started taking collagen in the new year and can’t believe the difference it’s making to my hair, so much new growth coming through, my hairdresser couldn’t believe it! Not doing much for my turkey neck yet, but hopefully soon!

BlueLimes · 18/03/2026 11:14

Interesting article re men B

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3rzg0vg947o

MJalltheway · 18/03/2026 11:20

@Polkadotdash as @BlueLimes says, it's £110 per dose, 2 doses needed at least a month apart. It protects against bacterial meningitis (but not all strains) which is the one currently in Kent. Hopefully at some point the NHS might do catchups for those too old to have had it as a baby.
In my 20s, someone I worked with died with bacterial meningitis, they were fine at work as usual and by the middle of the next day they had gone. The speed of it is shocking.
Managed to get an appointment in for the one currently at uni but everything else now seems out of stock for DC2. We have a few months so no rush.

to add to my back woes, I've now gone down with the general lurgy going around the DCs school. Consoling myself that I may as well have this at the same time as being laid up with the back issue. Sneezing flipping hurts though.
At the moment I have no clue how I'm doing weight wise or food wise or anything else!
