Welcome fellow maintainers to our third thread! Tis the season to be joyful and we do have reasons to be joyful, as we are still here. Not always the perfect journey and full of treats and temptations, but we'd have nothing to talk about otherwise. So hop on the Magical Maintenance Sleigh of Wonder and lets go! (Apologies to all those reading this for the first time in March! I got a bit carried away my festive season puns.)

Well that sounds very sensible, @Merlin23! I’ll make sure the foods on offer to myself in fridge and cupboards are basically nutritious, and let my preferences wander.

I did think it was interesting in pregnancy that I craved black pudding, something I’d never normally eat.

Suppose I’ve really needed vitamin c this week.

@ShrankLastWinter
I craved milk and couldn't touch chocolate.
Cravings during pregnancy are strange. I hope me not eating chocolate helped my son as it meant he had a healthier diet.

I've been on Wegovy for two months. I know it's been Christmas as well, and I was off work for three weeks so sat on my arse but I've put five pounds on. I'm a shorty so that takes my BMI from 20 to 21.9 so quite a leap. And I was just thinking about food all the time, and starting to get my anxiety back.

I've just ordered MJ again. No idea what my long term plan will be.

Orangesandlemons77 · 10/01/2026 08:24

I am using up a stockpile of 15ng MJ pens bought before the price change, and have been taking 7.5mg each week but in the last couple of weeks reduced to 5mg.

I have been snacking a bit more on things like the mini chocs left over from Christmas and a Christmas cake with my coffee, only little bits but I never felt like them before.

I used to have a real sweet tooth before MJ so I will need to keep an eye on that.

Maybe I will try something like greek yoghurt with berries, so getting that sweetness but with something more nutritious. Apart from that things still seem to be going Ok weight wise, maintaining anyway.

I have a chronic illness so can't really exercise so although not really calorie counting am trying not to be above around 1200 calories a day.

I shop with Ocado so thought I would try some of the new M&S Nutrient dense meals last week and they seemed nice. Might get them again.

I had the Romesco chicken M&S nutrient dense meal yesterday. It was delicious. Shame they are £7 each but I got it on a yellow sticker.
I also shop with Ocado.

FurForksSake · 10/01/2026 10:12

@Orangesandlemons77 I’m feeling similar with the sweet tooth and I will also be keeping an eye on it. The M&S meal sounds good, I might try one of those, too.

I have just had toast with choc and hazelnut spread on, it was a nice sourdough rye bread but still.

Don't usually even have breakfast and am not hungry till much later in the day, this was 9am.

Maybe I need to go back to 7.5mg. I might try that this coming week. Doesn't bode well for coming off completely though.

I love sour dough

Despite being really satisfied that I’ve taken non extreme action to get back to my target weight after Xmas part of me is really a bit down that I will never be free of having to be vigilant . There’s a columnist in the times who describes going in MJ for 6 weeks to shift a stone and then came off but feels like that 6weeks reset her food noise permanently after a lifetime of every diet going …. I am envious of that !

I'm not sure I believe that. Sounds like a columnist making stuff up!

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/01/2026 16:25

Surely if only a stone overweight she isn’t legally able to get mj

and to do for 6w and stop sounds suss

Pleased I'm not the only sceptic!

FurForksSake · 10/01/2026 16:51

There is a place often mentioned on thread that allow very expensive micro dosing for those only just over weight and a lot of the pharmacies count peri as a complication to allow you to get it at 27.5, so she could have done just about.

But I can only imagine six weeks and fixed forever. She can’t possibly know yet!

MargoLivebetter · 12/01/2026 08:59

@Fluffypiece I feel the same sometimes too. It is going to require constant vigilance from me as well. When I first came off, I thought I'd reset myself, but after 7 months and food noise actually making me feel slightly bonkers, I knew I hadn't!

@Blondeshavemorefun and @Orangesandlemons77 sorry to hear that you have biscuits & bread calling out to you. Gah! @Orangesandlemons77 do you have to have things like nutella and sourdough in the house for other family members? I try to only have treats in the house that don't really do it for me, otherwise the temptation is just too much.

In my weekly weigh in, I've lost my Christmas lbs, so that's a relief and I've been going to the gym and doing home based exercise more regularly too.

What’s everyone doing with disposing of their needles? I’ve never seen it discussed but I’ve got two full boxes now!

MargoLivebetter · 12/01/2026 09:13

@FurForksSake one of my local pharmacies has a drop off for sharps bins.

OP posts:
FurForksSake · 12/01/2026 09:19

Ah! Do they advertise or did you ask? I might ask on a local page anonymously. My council is supposed to pick up but they never did.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/01/2026 10:13

Council pick up / never understood why chemists won’t take

MargoLivebetter · 12/01/2026 10:28

@FurForksSake this particular chemist has the sharps bin disposal right out in front of their main counter, so I didn't have to ask! My recollection from when I first inquired way back when, is that Boots do some kind of sharps disposal, although not necessarily at all their branches.

My sharps box isn't full yet - I reckon I'll need a new one in a few months, when I'm hitting the 2 year mark. There is nowhere local that will collect or that I can drop off, so I'm probably going to seal it up, buy a new one and leave it at the back of a cupboard! Hopefully at some point, a facility to safely dispose of it will come along.

How's everyone doing now that January has set in and Christmas is a fading memory?

I’m thinking of taking it with when I next give blood or go to a hospital. Local pharmacy won’t take.

OneThirdLess · 12/01/2026 11:25

@MeridaBrave I now have an image of sneaking my sharps container into a hospital under my coat and desperately looking around for a suitable large hazmat bin! 😂

I haven't given blood for years. I used to before the kids, then I never had childcare to be able to go, and when I managed it once or twice, my veins were crap. I wonder if losing weight will have made a difference to whether my veins are easier to access now? Did you notice a difference?

Veins now bulging! Although I am a regular donor.

My veins were good last week when I donated.

I have teenagers so yes there is usually random stuff around yes. Things seem to have improved, I'm back to having my morning apple which seems oddly to help.
