Is there one yet? If not, should this be it? I’m starting tonight, so officially November, but hey! Am so nervous, woke up early this morning with anxiety. Would love tips from anyone who has started before on what / how to eat on first few days..I’m really concerned about debilitating side effects- should you just listen to your body or force yourself to eat chicken?! I keep seeing all these insta posts about eating protein!!

Hmm. Did my second injection last night, and it had an effect almost immediately - I felt everything inside sort of tense up. Since I went to bed I've had mild stomach cramps - it doesn't hurt, but I feel like I'm holding my lower stomach in tight and it's uncomfortable. Not enjoying this at all - I have health anxiety and am worrying about stomach paralysis and all sorts.

Really hoping it passes soon. I was a bit constipated yesterday (sorry tmi), ok today but I'll make sure I drink plenty of water and eat plenty of fruit and veg to keep things moving.

I had definitely started to feel hungry again on day 6 and 7, very much don't now 😂I wish you could start on a lower dose than 2.5, I feel like I would do fine on less.

I feel exactly the same on the first couple of days. I don’t like the intense appetite suppression.. I’m considering going every 10 days to have a couple days a week to eat more calories as I’m just starting to feel a bit hungrier on day 6. No way I’m moving up doses!

@cobblers00 Did you have the crampy feeling? That's reassuring. I think 10 days would be fine too, I liked the suppression I had and didn't really feel the need for another jab yesterday, despite feeling a bit more hungry. It was manageable hunger still.

ArtesianWater · 09/12/2025 10:46

@cobblers00 do you stay on 2.5mg for as long as it keeps having the necessary effect then? It's very early days for me but I would not want a stronger effect than I have at the moment so would not double it to 5mg unless it starts to wear off (which I understand is the expectation).

BelleEpoque27 · 09/12/2025 10:53

@ArtesianWater My partner's been on 2.5 for three months now and it's still happy with how it's going. He did consider going up to 5mg last month, but seems to have better suppression again now.

No I haven’t had cramps, but was sick on sat night after jabbing Friday (as detailed in pp, it was grim!) & have felt more nauseous this week. That’s wearing off now & I think it’s trial & error realising what/ how you can eat best to nourish yourself whilst on the medication. The food noise has gone but I am thinking about my eating habits more than I would usually.. I guess this is better, mindful choices rather than mindless scoffing!

What do others here think about protein powder smoothies to get enough protein in? I usually drink them but am cautious about UPFs on MJ because I want to do everything possible to avoid side effects.

Funnily enough just ordered some as can’t see any other way of getting the right amount in. I’ve never used it before. I’ve gone for a my protein whey powder to mix with water as not a fan of milkshakes.

I have used them from the beginning, I prefer the ready made ones but they are so expensive and the powder milk based ones dont mix as nicely so I am now using clear whey from MyProtein and its lovely! Amazing flavours. 20g protein and only 90 cals, I put in Nutrition Geeks glow up powder in (another 12g of protein/50 cals) and some creatine powder also.

It seems to work really well for me.

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 09/12/2025 12:52

I make protein powder smoothies, make my own with berries, protein powder, peanut butter , yogurt and milk as breakfast and sometimes a few sips at night before bed. No way I could get enough protein without a smoothie to be honest

ArtesianWater · 09/12/2025 14:04

Thank you all, I have ordered some more protein powder as it sounds like a good bet. @SexyFrenchDepression I use a Nutribullet to blend mine with almond milk and it works really well.

Yeah I probably need to try some different ones and blend them rather than shaking, the myprotein ones are really grainy texture. I also suffered with bad nausea for some of the 1st month so maybe that didnt help.

The clear whey is lovely though, I had a mojito for breakfast today 😂

Margaritawithlime · 09/12/2025 17:42

Oh suffering today. I have a wisdom
tooth making an appearance and it’s causing huge sensitivity to cold meaning I’ve not drunk half as much water as I normally would and my head has pounded as a result. I’m not someone for headaches so not sure if this is an MJ side effect or just bad luck. Shattered too.

Gardener82 · 09/12/2025 17:52

Day 2 and I’m definitely feeling more full/less of an urge to snack. I’ve had stomach cramps as well today but nothing to bad.
I went to the hairdresser earlier and she’s worried me a bit, she said everyone she knows on mounjaro has had hair loss/thinning. Really hope this doesn’t happen to me, it’s taken years to grow the damage out of my hair.

Ooh this is a good shout. Not sure I’m anywhere near on protein.

I was definitely on the low side. Now I need to work on my fibre!, I have about 7g a day and it shld be 25g!

From what I’ve read it’s not the drug per se that causes hair loss, rather rapid weight loss, however that comes about. This is why it’s important to pace the journey & consume a nutrient rich diet. Same applies to muscle loss.

I have been taking the Nutrition Geeks Collagen Glow up powder since I started, I have lost weight pretty quickly but my hair was thin on the sides before I started but its definitely growing there now so I am hoping the collagen is counteracting any negative effects of the weightloss.

Gardener82 · 09/12/2025 18:32

Thanks, I’m taking nutrition geeks collagen too, alongside the biotin, vitamin C & D.
I’m on day 2 and have eaten today.. Porridge with raspberries and apple slices. Tomato Soup and some protein noodles with chicken and 4 mini prawn toast. It’s come in at 921 calories, is that similar to everybody else?
I would normally be starving on that many calories but I feel fine.

I have around that but whether it is enough or too much will very much depend on your height and weight. The TDEE calculator is really useful.

StrongGirlsLift · 09/12/2025 19:07

@ArtesianWater, I think that’s it! My daughter baked a butterscotch cake at the weekend. Normally, I’d be slicing off small bits several times a day, but it’s just sitting there.

The Voy app logs your food and uses AI to estimate the meal macros. I had a 10/10 score for the first time today - for a rather boring cauliflower rice, mixed green veg, and boiled egg lunch thrown together from leftovers. I also had my 1-1 nutritional coaching session yesterday via Voy - she referred to the first few weeks as “the honeymoon period” 😬.

To add protein as a vegetarian, I do things like grated fried tofu, tofu “steaks” air fried with shredded coconut (delicious on Thai curry!), cheesy sauces made with silken tofu, and use Greek yoghurt for dips and sauces etc. and I add flaxseeds etc to breakfast (good for fibre too). And I sometimes give in and have protein shakes (but 98kcal for 20g protein is too good to pass up!)

StrongGirlsLift · 09/12/2025 19:14

… and I entirely missed a whole page of updates. I have been off MN for years, and now it has changed and I don’t like it 😂.

Hope people are feeling better!

@ArtesianWaterI really like the Organic Protein Co vanilla protein powder. All natural and no artificial sweeteners. I mix some with my yogurt and seeds at breakfast to get a bit more protein in.
