Is there one yet? If not, should this be it? I’m starting tonight, so officially November, but hey! Am so nervous, woke up early this morning with anxiety. Would love tips from anyone who has started before on what / how to eat on first few days..I’m really concerned about debilitating side effects- should you just listen to your body or force yourself to eat chicken?! I keep seeing all these insta posts about eating protein!!

I’m thinking of ordering some and starting asap. I’m on the low end with a BMI of 27 with only 1.5-2 stone to lose (but with eligible health conditions). My big worry is having low energy on it as I want to up my training.

ArtesianWater · 30/11/2025 17:49

@cobblers00 I decided to postpone for a week because this is my last week of work before the holidays and i am so worried about possible side effects. It's annoying to wait but I am using the time to prep and think it is the better move as I have some high pressure work on this week. I am reading with interest though - well done so far!

Margaritawithlime · 30/11/2025 18:23

So day 1 technically as injected yesterday afternoon. I wasn’t hungry this morning and had a spoon of green yoghurt around 10am. Got peckish at 2 and had some wholemeal toast as husband wasn’t back from food shop and we were low on stuff! We had dinner plans and I’ve eaten some beef and half a Yorkshire pudding. Feel like I’m picking after a large Xmas dinner portion. Just… full? I wouldn’t say the food noise is gone I’m actually hyper aware but I’m hoping that fades after the novelty of having started wears off.
true test will be tomorrow and work. I have such strict eating windows due to my job that I am normally STARVING at 12:15 and again at 4 (guess the profession…) so will see if that happens!

changedglasscat · 30/11/2025 20:56

Started a few days ago: my first reaction is this, how amazing it is not to be constantly thinking about food and how freeing it to just wave snacks away!

I'm only really beginning to admit to myself how much of my life has been dominated by food and weight and feeling negative about my body. It's hard to get my head around.

Haven't lost much yet but it's early days and no regrets so far.

Hi all, I was a 1st Nov starter but I lurk on the October threads also as they are really useful to see how others are dealing with it, and tips etc.

For me it has been amazing so far. 1 stone off in exactly 1 month. I have another 1.5-2 to go in total. A bit of nausea and tiredness but that seems to have gone now.

The threads have been great for support, food ideas and finding deals/referal codes. Also shows how different everyone reacts to it.

Julesni77 · 01/12/2025 15:03

Dropping in from Dec 24 starters - 5 stone down

Good luck to you all - its the best thing I ever did for myself after years of yo yo dieting

I am planning to stay on it as long as I am allowed but no where near maintenance yet :)

Im not going to lie its still been hard at times my side affects were constipation and do not worry about scale fluctuations - I found weighing myself weekly was getting me too obsessed with scales - I now weigh monthly and some months i only lost 2lbs - but thats ok - the first stone came off in 2 weeks! all water and inflammation - stay on as low a dose as you can and eat protein - lift weights!

@Julesni77 l have been debating which dose to go up to, I have been on 2.5mg with slightly more on my 5th dose. I have 5mg pen but thinking I will go for 3.75mg for now? Or would you advise 2.5mg and just use the pen for longer? I seem to have ok appetite suppression but definitely a bit hungrier this week.

cobblers00 · 01/12/2025 16:33

Welcome @Gardener82@changedglasscat& @Margaritawithlimewell done! thanks for all you ghosts of Xmas future dropping in with advice & experience too, it really is helpful. I’ve finally shifted a horrible headache that came on last night & feel good again.. my thoughts keeps drifting to ‘I must be hungry’ & then it passes - half a wrap & a slice of turkey for lunch is so much less than I’d normally need/ want to feel satisfied! I listened to a good podcast at lunchtime too if anyone’s interested: ’https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/unpaused-with-dr-mary-claire-haver/id1846701533?i=1000736237669

@SexyFrenchDepression I can only speak for myself but I didnt dose any differently than the 2.5 5 and 7.5 (other than getting a little more each golden dose) ]

I did 8 weeks 2.5 then 8 weeks 5mg and then the rest on 7.5 - I will not be moving up further due to expense and this way I am hungry towards the end of each week I just don't rely on suppression

Dont be afraid of hunger! you need to nourish your body with good food and this just makes it way easier to do so!

I'm no saint I have had take away every friday night throughout - but just nowhere near the portion I would have had before!

SexyFrenchDepression · 01/12/2025 16:45

@Julesni77 I definitely need to eat slightly better, I mostly have enough protein but definitely low on fibre.

SunandMoor · 01/12/2025 22:33

Good luck everyone I have been on this for 26 weeks and lost 2st 10lb so far. I am on 5mg where I intend staying. Don’t move up unless you feel you need it. Also download the Shotsy app it’s really good for recording your jabs and weight etc. I take a biotin supplement and collagen (both from Nutrition geeks) as I was paranoid about hair loss! Don’t know if they work but not had a more hair loss than normal. Otherwise no real side effects other than a headache on Jab day and I do get some very vivid dreams which tend not to be nice! Otherwise it’s been life changing. I have had lots of holidays and still eat out and drink wine. I noticed my wine desire definitely reduced which was good. Good luck!

Does anybody know if mounjaro will be difficult to order once you are within a healthy bmi weight?
I have just ordered my first dose from MedExpress and you have to give your bmi.
I currently weigh 13 stone and my goal is 9/10 stone.
The NHS bmi calculator says to have a healthy bmi I should weigh between 8 and 11 stone.
Does this mean once I get to 11 stone that it will be hard to order because I will no longer be considered overweight?

Not with all suppliers, there are suppliers who prescribe down to BMI 19/20. MedExpress say they do but I have heard some people say they struggle to get it once they are inder BMI 24.

I have just ordered with Lotus, got a £40 referral voucher and they are a good maintenance provider.

BelleEpoque27 · 02/12/2025 10:32

Hi, new starter here! I did my first jab last night. Was intending to start last month so had been reading and commenting a bit in that thread, but circumstances meant I was just into December.

I was absolutely bloody terrified before I did it - I have health anxiety and I was so scared I'd have an allergic reaction or feel really ill. Thankfully so far it's fine. I do feel slightly unwell, like I'm coming down with something - some body aches, a bit cold, and headachey. But nothing unmanageable, I'm working as normal. I'm more thirsty than usual and have been drinking water rather than coffee this morning. Don't fancy breakfast yet, but I don't usually eat until mid-morning anyway.

I'm a pretty typical user I think - always struggled with my weight, now in my mid-40s, have been on countless diets but can never maintain them long-term. I gained a lot of weight during Covid when stuck working at home with a toddler, and haven't managed to lose it, plus gained a bit more just from wfh and generally just giving up on trying to lose weight. I have only ever lost weight when I've obsessed over it in the past, and that just isn't possible for me when I have a child to think about as well. BMI is now, shockingly, 41 and I feel my weight is really affecting my health, I want to be able to run around with my son and walk upstairs without being out of breath. Fingers crossed this works.

cobblers00 · 02/12/2025 11:18

Welcome @BelleEpoque27great to have more joiners- I fear December might not be a popular month to start!!! You sound similar to me- I was terrified & it is nerve wracking taking that first plunge but only 4 days in & I sometimes forget I’ve taken it now.. the whole experience is really weird & makes me realise how my whole life is/was defined by food! I couldn’t wait & weighed this morning- 1kg down already!!! They say it’s just water at first though I’ve been drinking so much I feel full of water!
Is everyone being open & telling f+f they’re on the pen? I’ve told DH & 2 DF who had been on it for a while too, but otherwise not planning to. Can’t bear the judgement. Will do measurements tonight as know it’s not all about the scales. My BMI is just 30- 77kg (76 today!)- would love to just lose my belly & get into a size 10-12.

StrongGirlsLift · 02/12/2025 12:46

Welcome @BelleEpoque27 - good luck! Hope you continue to feel well.

I have only told DH and will likely keep it that way, at least until I have results to show for it. Friends are used to my weight being up and down anyway! MIL and SIL have disordered eating/ history of ED and my daughter is 14, and I want to keep her thinking around food as normal as possible.

I injected on Saturday. 1.3kg down and while I have felt hungry, it passes and I’ve not felt the need to snack. I’m trying to make good food decisions, knowing I’ll be in the hands of others over the holidays. It will be wonderful to get through December without a gain, to be honest. It’s like we’re pre-gaming - getting ahead of the January crowd!

I have a fancy awards event tomorrow through work, and literally none of my black tie stuff fits. I have a couple of sequin tops but no skirts or anything. Happily “business attire” is acceptable. The pandemic has done a number on my wardrobe - it’s all big jumpers at this stage!

Mariocatgran · 02/12/2025 12:56

@cobblers00hi can I join i started on Friday on wegovy not hungry at all and no side effect

I didnt even tell DH at first, wanted to make sure if worked first, I knew he wouldnt be super supportive as thinks I look fine as I am. Only a work colleague knew but I have told a few others now, not that many people, just people I trust and know won't judge.

15.1lb in 1 month and 1 day, I could never have done it alone and felt the same as you have said, realised how much food defined my life, constantly telling myself I will eat healthily today then making awful choices. Since day 1 I have had no cravings and no food noise. Its unbelievable.

BelleEpoque27 · 02/12/2025 16:26

DP has been on Mounjaro himself for a few weeks and it's been really helpful having him to guide me. So yes, he knows! I've told my mum, and I don't really have a problem with telling people if they ask. All my friends know I struggle with my weight and am constantly on and off diets, I doubt it will be a huge surprise.

I'm definitely feeling a bit rough, not sick or anything but very much like I'm coming down with a virus. I haven't fancied eating much and now realise I will have to figure out some easy low-carb foods to have on hand, as I normally eat so much toast and carby junk. I'm so shivery though, I don't want anything cold! All I've eaten today is a pitta with a Quorn slice, some yogurt and a banana. Incredible. But because I don't feel well it just feels like I've lost my appetite because of that.

changedglasscat · 02/12/2025 16:47

I feel exactly the same, I little shivery and cold and achy but not as much as I would
If I had a virus, also needing low carb food - where has the carb noise gone?! Amazing! Second jab tomorrow. Well done everyone who is first timer, you've all been really brave and we've so got this!
