Is there one yet? If not, should this be it? I’m starting tonight, so officially November, but hey! Am so nervous, woke up early this morning with anxiety. Would love tips from anyone who has started before on what / how to eat on first few days..I’m really concerned about debilitating side effects- should you just listen to your body or force yourself to eat chicken?! I keep seeing all these insta posts about eating protein!!

Hi all - starting MJ today, I have many stones I’d like to lose but focusing on one at a time! placemarking to read more and get more tips later.

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 07/12/2025 11:55

Is anyone else exhausted… that’s my biggest side effect I napped today which I never normally do … I mean bonus my insomnia wasn’t present last night but I’m exhausted

ArtesianWater · 07/12/2025 16:56

I finally took my first jab last night. Was super nervous but so got past it and wondered what I was ever worried about! I feel totally fine today and went for a run early this morning as I always do on a Sunday. I didn't eat anything until lunchtime and now feel very sated, though it's too early to say whether my appetite is already blunted or just a coincidence. Fingers crossed it continues to go smoothly.

Unlike others I have not taken any measurements, weight or otherwise, because I don't have scales at home and can't really be bothered to get the tape measure out. My plan is to create a healthy routine of nutrition and exercise with MJ as an additional mechanism to help me stick to my diet. Is there any reason not to do it this way, as others seem very focussed on measuring? I have a lot of clothes that I want to be able to fit back into and plan to use that as my measurement over time, plus energy levels and exercise results (e.g. how well I can perform in a strength class).

cobblers00 · 07/12/2025 17:17

Well done @ArtesianWater!! It is so nerve wracking isn’t it! I like seeing progress so am tracking for that reason, but also I am nervous about losing too quickly so seeing 2kg drop this week has been helpful - I’m half delighted & half apprehensive that I’ll waste away before the winters out 🤣
I am not liking the intense suppression & like you, would like to combine the crutch of the medication with some willpower of my own. I’m considering taking half a dose next time for that reason- I’ve barely been able to eat today & don’t like that.

@PivotPivotmakingmargaritasivd felt opposite - energised.. which is weird considering how little fuel I’m taking in! Maybe because the food I am eating is clean.

I have just taken my first jab, was planning on doing it earlier but my train was delayed and have only just got home.
I have a food shop being delivered tomorrow that is all healthy food.

StrongGirlsLift · 07/12/2025 21:24

@ArtesianWater, of course, just do what works for you! Using clothes as a guide is as good as anything. I just like stats, and sometimes need evidence to counteract what’s going on in my brain.

BelleEpoque27 · 07/12/2025 21:25

Best of luck, @Gardener82 !

I'm due my second jab tomorrow and I'm definitely noticing the effects are wearing off. I've had two advent calendar chocolates today, which I hadn't fancied at all until now. I've eaten more too, just feel I have more capacity. I'm quite looking forward to my next dose.

@PivotPivotmakingmargaritas I've only felt exhausted on the days I've eaten very little. Most days I've felt more energetic than usual, and more motivated to get on with things rather than sit and doomscroll.

Colinthedaxi · 07/12/2025 21:34

Can I join you guys, just done the first jab, think it went ok.

SW 74.3kg, just short of 50yo and about 5ft 4. I’d love to get back to 60kg… oooof that’s a big bag of dog food I’ve gained in the last couple of years, eeek.

I hope this works, apprehensive but a little bit excited.

Sorry if I am missing something obvious but did you not have to do your weight to get MJ to begin with? You have to give your weight each time you reorder also?

I havent done measurements but will judge that if/when I fit into smaller clothes I guess. My PT does measurements but I find he does them in places I wouldnt (he knows more than me I guess but it wasnt eg round the fattest part of my tummy which is what I would have measured).

I think looking at other things alongside weight reduction is a much healthier way to look at it. For me one massive thing is how much less bloated I look, my face looked puffed out as did my belly and the change is quite significant.

Your stats are very similar to mine. I am 46, 5ft4 and starting weight was 12 stone so I think that was 76kg.

I was a Nov starter but its useful being on the months either side as there's a lot of great info from people starting similar times. I have lost 16lb since 1st Nov. It really has been life changing for me! My mental health is so much better.

Good luck with it all!

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 07/12/2025 21:46

@PivotPivotmakingmargaritasim a bit ahead of you… started late October and just taken jab 8. I was ok on 2.5 but since moving to 5mg the fatigue is real and I’ve had to nap on days 2/3. No other side effects as such and losses are on track.

i have kept going at 5mg though as a work colleague says it will improve and stick with it.

Gardener82 · 07/12/2025 21:46

Are you keeping your mounjaro in the fridge once opened?
The video I watched said anything below 30 degrees is fine.

Colinthedaxi · 07/12/2025 22:18

@SexyFrenchDepression - oh I would be thrilled with that, you must be so pleased 😁

SexyFrenchDepression · 07/12/2025 22:20

@Colinthedaxi thanks, yes I am. I wasnt expecting it really, I lost nearly 6lb in 1st week but have consistently lost a decent amount eash week since. Its a good start and for the scales to now say 10 stone something is such a boost!

PersephoneSmith · 08/12/2025 01:02

I’m taking my second dose tomorrow.

I’m coming at this slightly differently than most. I was prescribed Liraglutide for diabetes about 17 years ago but it made me quite sick, it was a daily injection then. My GP has been trying to persuade me to give the new formulations a go for a while. Hoping for a different outcome but no positives so far. Lots of the usual ‘food noise’ this weekend.

You're right, I did weigh to get the prescription but then waited a few weeks to start because I wanted to consult my GP about a couple of things first and it took that long to get an appointment. I know roughly what I weigh but not precisely, so can't track incremental loss iyswim. I am warming to the idea of using my clothes and fitness levels as the best measures though.

I am a bit like @StrongGirlsLift as sometimes I feel like I havent lost anything or its not going well so then weighing helps me but the feeling of fitting into the jeans that have been too tight is great.

The only thing for me would be checking what I lose to decide on what dose I need to use and also for a healthy BMI (roughly as obv its not an exact science). Many healthcare professionals are using waist/height ratio now though as a much more important indicator of a healthy weight.

Good luck @Tammy214. Can you distract yourself today with a walk or a project? Meal planning? I was a bit burpy on jab days last week and this, but no reflux or heartburn despite having a history of heartburn.

Important to drink lots of water and get a good amount of fibre!

Thanks for this, thankfully i have xmas planning to distract me . so far still nothing i can discern as side effects. I am hoping that i start to feel some difference soon but i know some react very quickly and some dont.

cobblers00 · 06/12/2025 11:04

I was the same.. waiting & waiting but none! Just felt really good. Did have headache day 3 but think that was sugar withdrawal as had v high sugar diet before. I’m sure you’ll be fine- just follow all the advice on these threads. Good luck!

Thank you! am still waiting to see if any side effects are going to happen!

Hello. I took my first dose of mounjaro on Monday. I had some diarrhoea on Tuesday but I’ve been okay stomach wise since then.

Nothing else feels different though, appetite is the same, literally nothing is different. At first I thought it must take a while to kick in so I googled it. 8 hours!
is it not going to work for me? 😕

How are you feeling now, do you feel like it’s making a difference.
I took my first jab last night and I feel a little nauseated but not a massive difference in appetite.
I’ve been at home all day today and have eaten less than I normally would but I’d say it was maybe 20% mounjaro 80% willpower.

Just taken my second dose. I haven’t been very hungry today, had a boiled egg at 7pm. Normally I’m desperate for my big dinner at 6!
So it is very much up and down for me. I’m thinking it will only become apparent in the very long term how much effect it is having.
Mine is on prescription on the NHS, I didn’t have to submit anything to order it. I have no idea what I weigh. Other than ‘a lot’ obviously 😆

ViciousChicken · 09/12/2025 06:51

I’m 2 days in, definitely eating a bit less and less bothered about snacks. But it could be a placebo at this stage! Only side effect is possibly being more thirsty?

ArtesianWater · 09/12/2025 08:02

I'm on day three now and feel like its had a big effect. I'm hungry but it's because I have not overeaten / eaten preemptively like I often do (as in, eaten because it's scheduled rather than due to true hunger). That's not such a big deal though. The biggest thing for me is that I have bought a whole load of desserts for a dinner party I am having at the weekend, and also been sent chocolates as a gift, and haven't even been tempted to touch them. That is huge. Normally I can't keep sweet things in the house because I will eat them; I just kind of know they are there and can't stop thinking about them until I have eaten them, so I don't buy them. Is this what people mean by silencing food noise? I am still thinking about normal food when I am hungry, but not the sugary food. I really hope that continues because it would be life-changing for me.

cobblers00 · 09/12/2025 08:25

@ArtesianWater yes I’m the same- sweet tooth definitely curbed and I used to be a sucker for bread & chips- not interested in either now. I am running out of ideas on what to eat to keep protein levels up though as not a huge fan of eggs/ chunks of meat, especially for lunch.. also definitely a bit queasier this week & noticing a few more digestive side effects. I do need to eat slower as I think I sometimes eat too much at mealtimes before I realise I’m full, then it’s uncomfortable. All in all still feeling pretty good though.
its so helpful hearing everyone else’s experiences & tips!

Week 2 weigh in and another 3lb down. Thrilled with that but can still see the weekends are slightly unhinged, might look at trying to jiggle my injection day from a Tuesday to later in the week.
Still no headaches though - touch wood, this is the week where i would normally expect a hormonal migraine so we'll see how that goes.
