Is there one yet? If not, should this be it? I’m starting tonight, so officially November, but hey! Am so nervous, woke up early this morning with anxiety. Would love tips from anyone who has started before on what / how to eat on first few days..I’m really concerned about debilitating side effects- should you just listen to your body or force yourself to eat chicken?! I keep seeing all these insta posts about eating protein!!

@StrongGirlsLift came on to ask the same, what are we facing after the honeymoon period then??!!
@Gardener82
i really struggle to get past 900-1000 calories a day but should be aiming for around 1200.. I swear before I could put away 3000 easily 😂

I think she meant because it’s all going well, no side effects for me, early days, and I said that having my body give clear signals when I’d eaten enough is amazing. Like the honey moon period before you realise your spouse leaves the toilet seat up and never does the washing 😬

If you’re anything like me, the concept of struggling to eat enough must have been so alien for most of you life and yet here you are!

I'm on day 6 of wegovy. Effects mild so far, but I have started to get full more quickly. I’ve been hungry today so hoping tomorrow will top me up.

Omg I am getting lectured on another thread for asking about taking a week off to ease any bad side effects during a blow out weekend away with my long distance oldest friends. Jeez, so much judgement! Wish I’d never asked!!!

Jeez! I don't know why people get so wound up about things that have absolutely no effect on their life.
Anyway, i have looked into this before starting as i was concerned about side effects over Christmas and from what i can tell it is generally safe to miss a dose. I haven't had any negative effects so i'm going to continue over Christmas but you should absolutely do whatever is right for you and if that means skipping a dose to have a lovely time away with your friend then go for it.

so day 4 and i have had a very slight headache for the past few days, also noticed the 2nd day i didnt eat until 11 as i forgot about it, yeserday i didnt think to eat until 1:30pm , today i didnt eat 11:30 .
i dont always eat early , but i dont usually fully forget about it until past lunch time. so that sounds good. however i dont think i have lost any weight at all which i expected. I have managed a couple glasses of wine withouth ill effects.

StrongGirlsLift · 10/12/2025 15:03

It was exactly this kind of thing that made me leave MN for years - people just piling on the viperishness. And yet people are generally lovely in smaller groups. Sorry to hear you’re being piled on!

Colinthedaxi · 10/12/2025 15:04

I’m day three and other than feeling a little queasy no real side effects. Massive appetite suppression so far, don’t feel hungry at all. Not tempted by all the chocolates and cake in the office 😱

People can be such twats! I told a work colleague I’m using mounjaro and she told me that even if I do lose weight it’s cheating!
I replied with.. Abit like your nicotine patch then!

StrongGirlsLift · 10/12/2025 15:06

@Tammy214 do you feel like you’re having enough water? WLI affect feelings of thirst too. And if you are used to having caffeine in hot and cold drinks and are suddenly having less, that can cause headaches too.

I’m usually over-hydrated but have noticed I’m sometimes a bit dehydrated recently.

Hi!
i am conscious of my water intake and measure it because i have another issue which can cause dehydration, so i have a 2 litre jug that i fill each morning before i start work. i also ensure to have water from other sources, along with a hydration tablet daily or more if i am going to the gym.
i dont have caffiene or other stimulates as i am senstive to things like sugar, so mostly thats cut out except for wine 😂
so i do think its likely the jab, i had thought i might be getting a cold but no other symptoms. its not interferring with work so its not bad, its just a small hum in the background. Am sure it will go away shortly, am not expecting any additional side effects from the next jab, but you never know

StrongGirlsLift · 10/12/2025 15:35

Great, you’re covering all the bases! Hope it wears off. I am a headache and migraine sufferer so you have my sympathies!/

Yeah its ridiculous, I commented before reading other replies 😱😱 Its one thing giving experiences/advice but another to lecture you in that way. I was shocked at the comments.

cobblers00 · 10/12/2025 18:38

@SexyFrenchDepressionthe kind poster who actually shared her experience just dm’d me to reassure I wasn’t the devil incarnate for daring to ask if a week off might be possible!! Bloody mumsnet! Pleased this thread is a kind, supportive one 🫶🏻

Ah thats nice! I have posted stuff for advice before and people have piled on for no reason, it can be awful!

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 10/12/2025 20:08

I’ve been reading this board since I started mj in October. There does seem to be a pile on any time somebody posts something that a few don’t agree with.

the thread about whether people lie to get jabs was a bit like that, as well as the thread about what happens when you stop.

i have tried to keep out of those as I’d rather be involved in sharing info and supporting each other.

It doesn’t seem to affect the starting groups though / they are generally ok.

cobblers00 · 10/12/2025 20:59

@BelleEpoque27 @Margaritawithlime how are you both feeling today? Better I hope.
Today feels like the sweet spot of the week for me- 5 days in, a little peckish at times & not having to force food down. Still tiny portions are satisfying- I had less than a third of a Charlie Bingham curry tonight.
So (before the infamous blow out weekend) I have my first night out since starting mj, tomorrow.. a Turkish meal & drinks with a big group. Its a set meal rather than nibbles so I am clearly going to end up pushing it round my plate! I’m going to have 2-3 drinks max & see how my body reacts.. I see some on the jabs can tolerate a fair bit of booze, others none, but whilst I don’t get drunk easily it does upset my digestive system (quite severely) easily so I'm expecting problems - I shall report back 🤣

Much better thank you @cobblers00 my tooth is still bloody annoying but I’ve drunk much more water today and that’s really helped. I’ve found myself hungrier today but a bit like you was happily full after some chicken from a Thai curry and some salad. I really didn’t fancy rice which was weird for me as i am a carbs girl.
Have friends up visiting this weekend so i know it will be wine - filled as we haven’t seen them for years. Im just going to try to tune into my body and hope it doesn’t lead me astray 😂
I hope your meal is lovely!

I took my first dose on saturday night and feel like it's wearing off this evening. Is this normal? am a bit disappointed!

StrongGirlsLift · 11/12/2025 07:42

Yes! From what I’ve read, the doses are cumulative (they take about a month to clear), so next week you should have more in your system towards the end of the week, and more the week after etc. this is why people move up the doses too.

Gardener82 · 11/12/2025 07:44

I took my first dose Sunday and felt like this last night.
Im a little disappointed because I assumed the jab meant I would breeze through life feeling stuffed on 800 calories.
It’s obviously only week one for me but I’d describe it as meaning I can easily stick to between 1000-1200 calories a day, something I’ve found impossible to stick to for years, there is still more willpower involved then I expected though. Maybe it gets easier week by week though, I haven’t had any bad side effects yet so will probably up to 5mg next month.

Colinthedaxi · 11/12/2025 09:58

I'm obviously very early days but I’m the opposite at the moment, still not wanting to eat at all (as @cobblers00 said, my love for carbs has vanished) - if this doesn’t start to wane can I spread the injections out a little more or is that not the done thing? I haven’t stood on the scales and my trousers are just as tight so don’t think I need to worry about fading away 😋

Im exactly the same. I’m into week 2 and feel it wearing off by Wednesday and into Thursday. In some ways I don’t mind that as I do think I’ll need to learn to use my willpower if I’ve any hope of maintaining any losses I’m torn between increasing my dose next month or sticking with 2.5 seeing if I can manage on that for another month. Mostly for pennies but also to make sure I have somewhere to move to. Will see how I feel after Xmas as that’s the time to choose
