Is there one yet? If not, should this be it? I’m starting tonight, so officially November, but hey! Am so nervous, woke up early this morning with anxiety. Would love tips from anyone who has started before on what / how to eat on first few days..I’m really concerned about debilitating side effects- should you just listen to your body or force yourself to eat chicken?! I keep seeing all these insta posts about eating protein!!

The lack of desire to eat is so, so weird. I just don't fancy anything. I'm really relieved I don't feel sick - I had very bad pregnancy nausea and was dreading going back to that.

I took some ibuprofen earlier and gave felt much better after that kicked in. Also realised I haven't had any heartburn today!

MrsTigerface · 02/12/2025 22:10

My first ever Mounjaro pen is being delivered tomorrow…I am quite apprehensive!
Reading this thread has calmed me down no end, thank you all x

StrongGirlsLift · 02/12/2025 22:25

Good luck @MrsTigerface and hope you’ll join us!

cobblers00 · 02/12/2025 22:42

Welcome @MrsTigerface! I just downloaded nutracheck app & turns out I’ve only had 928 calories today & exercised 300 of them off! Before MJ it would be impossible to not be seriously cranky on less than 1300 calories & much happier on around 2000! Yet I’m not hungry nor fatigued 😅 I managed 80g protein according to the app. I am really not a fan of protein shakes but wondering if should add one in?

I have started using the clear whey protein shakes, myprotein have some amazing flavours, the other day I had 'mojito' for breakfast, it was lush. I only really like the ready mixed milk based shakes but they are too expensive so switched to clear. A third of the calories and still over 20g of protein. I stick the Collagen Glow Up from Nutrition Geeks in there (further 12g of protein) Plus some creatine.

Morning jabbers, second Wegovy jab last night, no side effects so far and just under 3lbs down last week. Was away at Christmas Markets for 4 days, so very happy with that. Had planned on starting Mounjaro but pharmacist recommended Wegovy as i’m a migraine sufferer.
Have previously lost 5 stone with SW but pretty much put it all back on during lockdown and since then have found it impossible to lose again. Only DH knows for now.
good luck all.

I'm starting in the next few days. Interested to see how it will go! For the first time in my life - and very long history of yoyoing - I'm really excited to go slow and steady. Usually I'm hell for leather and super restrictive but I'm actually just looking forward to just being able to calm my brain and not be constantly harsh on myself.

Really hoping that's what I get out of this, just to take that battle away and eat like a normal person! Good luck all!

That’s interesting CCDC - migraines here too, and I’m just starting Wegovy. I’m making sure I drink lots of water even when I don’t feel like it.

Weirdest thing - I hardly even fancy cups of tea at the moment! I have used tea to respond to feeling hungry, but at the moment I’m not even that motivated to finish a cup. I am sensitive to caffeine/withdrawal though, so am making sure I get some caffeine through the day to avoid headaches.

Good luck all! I have a fancy awards dinner tonight, not being served until 7:30pm, but with a bit of luck I won’t feel the need to panic-eat before hand.

ChristmasCalsDoCount · 03/12/2025 08:28

@StrongGirlsLift Same with the coffee for me, down to 2-3 cups a day which would normally trigger at the very least a headache, but touch wood ok so far. And i would have previously had to write off a day when flying but two flights down and a fair amount of drinking over the weekend with only the slightest meh feeling. Probably should have waited until a quieter week to have my first jab but it's hard at this time of year so i just went for it. I think the water is key and I should have been drinking more of it anyway but I have made it a priority over the last week.

I suffer from migraines at least once a month and other than the 1st couple of days I have not had any, I am in my 5th week now of MJ and didnt realise it could affect them. I havent even had headaches. I didnt actually put it on my medical consultation as I dont have prescribed meds now as GP took me off them as i was on them too long.

BelleEpoque27 · 03/12/2025 09:41

Day 2 and I feel much better than yesterday, not shivery at all. I didn't sleep well though and have back ache - not sure if that's related to the Mounjaro or just one of those things. I do have a slightly achey upper stomach, just under my ribs. It made me worry about gallstones, but my DP said he had the same at the beginning.

I feel physically full and a bit bloated. Planning to drink lots of water today.

Cadgecadge · 03/12/2025 11:24

Sorry for the long post, but i am really struggling....I am thinking of starting again as my first experience of it was not very good as I lost very little weight over the 7 months I took MJ for. I started on Wegovy but had a skin reaction at the injection site which just got worse. So thinking of starting MJ and I am hoping that it works this time. I feel i just need the additional support from places like this. The worse think for me is losing hair. I have lost quite a bit over the last year but think that is age related and hormonal due to being menopausal. I am on pumpkin seed oil and vitamins and have tried all sorts of shampoos etc but think that is another reason why I gave up. The other thing that confuses me is where is the best place to order it from, its all so confusing. I was thinking of Voy or juniper because of the support they offer but also want the best price. again I apologise for the long message and if I sound useless but feel so fed up and it is a minefield.

StrongGirlsLift · 03/12/2025 11:51

SFD, CCDC, let’s check in on migraines! I have had a bad run in the last couple of years and would appreciate some relief! I have had migraines for 30+ years, but sometimes have a run of months or even years where I am not badly affected. But yes, water and caffeine are important to manage.

@Cadgecadge sorry you’ve had a rough time. With hair loss, I’m sure you’ve tried everything, but are you getting enough protein? I have read that can be a factor. I’m using Voy for 3 months but will likely shop around after that. Voy has coaching and weight and food intake tracking (you can take a photo of your meal, write a brief description, and it will estimate nutritional values). Too soon for me to say how useful it is.

@ChristmasCalsDoCount are you in the aviation industry? Flights usually make me feel so rough too, between sleep deprivation and jet lag, food weirdness, trying to sleep in a chair, etc.

ChristmasCalsDoCount · 03/12/2025 18:17

Yes, would be really interested to see how this affects migraines. @StrongGirlsLift not in the aviation industry, just love a holiday 😁i think the flight thing for me is the mix of excitement, anxiety and a bit of stress on flight day.

cobblers00 · 03/12/2025 18:35

Day 5 & starting to feel a tiny bit hungrier- but still full quickly when I do eat. I’m amazed at how much energy I have on such little food. One thing- not quite constipated but definitely noticed a big difference in toilet habits of that kind! Still going most days, but just a little.. don’t feel particularly bunged up. Friend says psyllium husk is recommended to help.. any thoughts?

Delivery came at about 6.45pm…injected about half an hour later. Here we go…

@cobblers00 , I find psyllium husk excellent, and you have reminded me that I have no constipation meds in at the moment, so thank you! I had better sort it out.

ViciousChicken · 03/12/2025 21:53

Well I’ve ordered. Hoping to start on Sunday if it comes on time. Am bloody terrified about taking the first dose but your posts are helping me!

changedglasscat · 03/12/2025 22:04

Second jab done. Fewer side effects so far compared to last week. For anyone worrying and anxious about the first one, you'll feel amazing when it's done and I'm rooting for you! It seems to get easier for the second one. We're all being really brave.

Hi, what psyllium husk do you use, there are so many I am not sure where to start.

MrsTigerface · 03/12/2025 22:47

@SexyFrenchDepression , I am not really fussy, I think it’s all much of a muchness but this was the last one I bought. It was just fine. A couple of tablespoons, with lots of water sorts me out.

Margaritawithlime · 04/12/2025 06:27

I’ve woken quite hungry this morning so I’m assuming my levels are on the decline. I wouldn’t say it’s switched off food noise completely yet for me but I am way less bloated and have heaps of energy. I know I’ve shed some water weight so I’ll be interested to get on the scales on Saturday when I inject my second dose.

Rugby7777 · 04/12/2025 07:46

So I started my first Wegovy injection on Monday 1st. I’m 5ft 3 and weigh 83.4kg so not looking to loose too much weight probably up to 2stone I want to loose.
I’ve recently been on orlistat and lost some weight but it was very slow and for last few weeks I’ve just plateaued.

I don’t tend to eat a lot of food anyway. I haven’t any really side effects so far but I have started counting my calories and weighing my food. So far this week my calorie intake take each day has varied between 1078-1285.

Hows everyone else doing?
