Is there one yet? If not, should this be it? I’m starting tonight, so officially November, but hey! Am so nervous, woke up early this morning with anxiety. Would love tips from anyone who has started before on what / how to eat on first few days..I’m really concerned about debilitating side effects- should you just listen to your body or force yourself to eat chicken?! I keep seeing all these insta posts about eating protein!!

So I am due my 6th jab tonight - first pen was 2.5mg, weightloss was around 0.5kg/week which I'm fine with - side effects weren't too bad, appetite was mildly depressed. The second pen is 5mg by default, and I've had one jab from it (Xmas day) - appetite completely suppressed (first two days I had a slice of toast and not much else), and I have been feeling more nauseous. I'm due to jab tonight and my appetite is still tiny.

So I'm wondering if I should count clicks and try 3.75mg this week? Any thoughts?

If you're hardly able to eat then personally I would as you won't be getting enough nutrients. I have had good appetite suppression on 3.75mg, took my 5th jab at that dose today.

@SexyFrenchDepression
Thank you - I decided to try 3.75mg. I'm back to work next week so my average step count will drop terribly, but I need to plan meals as well.

My step count is awful this last few days as I have have this nasty virus that seems to be going around. So frustrating as was doing so well and had lost weight over xmas still but feel horrible now so think I'll put on. Havent eaten lots but not as good nutrition wise as I was.

I must admit even on the 2.5 i have often had to set reminders to remember to eat, I also am starting to have my lunch high protien dishes with a side of soup as i do find eating soo much protein hard work. I will often eat lunch over the course of the afternoon , grazing to ensure i get the right nutrients

Lovingthelighterevenings · 02/01/2026 10:39

@Tammy214
In terms of nutrient tracking, do you mind if I ask what you focus on? I've been enjoying a slice of toast for breakfast while we are still on holiday, but I intend to go back to Skyr + fruit once I'm back to work, which along with the collagen in my tea means I get 30g of protein for breakfast (I probably don't get close to that at other meals). I haven't been calorie counting but I haven't gone crazy either but should give my diet more attention once we are back to school/work.

I was quite similar. I only went up as the pharmacy told me to so I ordered the 5mg but then decided to only go to 3.75mg as I was getting such good appetite suppression on 2.5 as it was. Its been fine so far.

@Lovingthelighterevenings I track on my fitness pal mainly to check the nutrition, although it was good to see roughly the calories I was eating as at first I was struggling to eat over 6/700 a day so really needed to focus on eating better.

I focus on hitting my protein target (I have clear whey as less filling but still 20g protein plus the collagen glow up/creatine powder in it). Usually eggs or some fresh meat for lunch then meat and veg for dinner. Carbs wise I have relatively low carbs but will still have the odd piece of toast or pasta/rice (trying to switch to wholegrain over white). I attempt for my macros to be 50% protein, 30% fat, 20% carbs however I do struggle to get to that protein as its 122g. I generally hit 90g+ though (probably not this last week or so).

Tammy214 · 02/01/2026 11:21

i automatically ordered 5 , but am waiting until i have been on these before ordering the next dose, i got ahead of myself with the 5. i do find that it wears off after a few days, am hoping the 5 doesnt bring me hard side effects.
I started most of the lifestyle changes previous to starting the jab so am hoping that helps during and after the jabs.
sadly i can still drink wine, just slower than usual, am hoping that stops with the 5 so i can not fancy a glass or 6 at the weekend 😂

Gardener82 · 02/01/2026 11:36

Starting 3.75 today.
I only lost 1lb this week but have lost 8lb since 7th Dec which I’m pleased with.
I am a little concerned about my hair, I’ve been noticing strands of hair coming out when I wash it, I’m not sure if this has always happened or if it’s a side effect, anybody else?

hi can anyone tell me if any of the companies sell the 3.75 dose in the uk? I’m not sure if I want to jump straight to 5 as I’ve already lost 7lb in one week on 2.5

I got 3.75 on MedExpress.

SilenceInside · 02/01/2026 12:11

@user1479317972 no one sells a 3.75mg dose pen so I am not sure what @Gardener82 is referring to. Pens are 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg or 15mg. They are the only doses that Eli Lilly manufacture.

People who do 3.75mg are ordering 5mg pens and doing a partial dose from them.

I only had the option of 2.5mg or 5mg with MedExpress. 3.75mg isnt a licenced pen dose in the UK?

I do 45 clicks of the 5mg pen for 3.75mg dose. I havent noticed much difference from 2.5mg side effect wise. Nausea seems similar but is getting better each week.

Gardener82 · 02/01/2026 12:49

Ignore me, I have got 5mg and not 3.75 like I thought.

@SexyFrenchDepression
Thank you for the info - if I get to 50g of protein a day I'm probably doing well. I'm not a big fan of meat, eggs or tuna and there's a limit as to how many chickpeas I can face in one sitting.

I went for 3.75mg instead of 5mg last night (I counted clocks) - it was helpful to hear from others so thank you all. I had my biggest loss last week when I went up to 5mg, but I've been off work so able to get in 10000-20000 steps a day, and we haven't had regular mealtimes so skipping meals has been too easy. I've also restarted AD so I'm being kind to myself.

The recommendation is 1-1.5g per kilo of weight but I honestly dont know how i wpuld do it without eating meat. I get about 50g with protein shake and a protein yoghurt/dessert then I'd be stuck after that

My new years resolution is to sort out my fibre intake!

Margaritawithlime · 02/01/2026 14:03

Hello all! Just checking in. Finishing up my first week on 5mg and im a bit frustrated. The food noises seem to have come back and im not as full as i was on 2.5! Riddle me that?! Not sure if i was expecting something different and it’s an expectation/reality thing or whether it just needs more time over the month. Have barely lost a thing this week (though official weigh in is tomorrow so there’s still time…) and ive eaten way way under my cals as had wisdom tooth removal this week and couldn’t eat anything for 48 hours except yogurt and mashed potatoes!

StrongGirlsLift · 02/01/2026 14:13

Poor you @Margaritawithlime! It could be the mash potato - every gram of carb stored in tissue comes with 2g of water weight, so if you have been lower carb in previous weeks, it could just be that?

I’m also struggling with scales this week (my first on 0.5 Wegovy) - I had mad heartburn and nausea on the first two days but haven’t had consistent suppression after. And my weight loss is slow. I just keep reminding myself I’d normally be several pounds up in early Jan.

The only way out is through! Just keep swimming 🤞🏼.

Oh really?! That might well explain it! I wasn’t exactly low carb but focusing on beans and lentils as my fibre sources and getting carbs from them. Haven’t had mashed potato in such amounts for a long time! It wasn’t ridiculous calorie wise but you may well be very right. I’ll see what the scales say over the next week.
You’re right about reframing. I keep reminding myself that I started before Christmas when normally it would have just gone to the dogs so to speak and I’d be making promises to myself about January. I’m already so much further ahead than I was after Christmas last year and know that I have to commit long term. Head down. Keep on trucking.

StrongGirlsLift · 02/01/2026 17:34

I think so! I’m a veteran low carber - it does work well for me but I find it restrictive as a vegetarian and it causes friction at meal times with the kids. And every time I give up on low carb it’s almost an instant 6lb gain as the body leaves ketosis and adds back water weight. Salt and carbs are culprits for a sudden weight gain, but should level out again quickly.

As for other issues I was posting about earlier this week, I’ve been focusing on drinking lots of water and it has really helped with bowel movements (alas, not weight loss).

Injection day for me tomorrow. I keep trying to figure out if I can use what looks like a dose left over in my WeGovy 0.25. I do have spare needles now!

Lovingthelighterevenings · 02/01/2026 18:08

That's a good point - what do you do with the unused doses in pens? There's some (not sure how much) left in my 2.5mg pen which I've had 4 doses from - I think I will have some left in the 5mg pen if I stay with the reduced dose of 3.75mg (complete appetite suppression today, the day after dosing). I'd need to get more needles though

For my 2.5mg pen I used an insulin syringe to do the 5th dose, I had overdone my priming a bit and only got 2.91mg out but usually there is 3mg left apparently.

I will do the same for my 5mg pen to get the most out of it. If you are sticking within the proper guidelines then you can get 5 doses out in 28 days, I will go over the 30 days but have kept pen in fridge and done enough research to feel comfortable doing that. I should be able to get 7 doses of 3.75mg out of the pen if I dont mess up the priming like before!

Margaritawithlime · 02/01/2026 18:48

I messed up the priming too! There wasn’t nearly enough for a full 2.5mg dose in my first pen. I went a bit priming crazy. Decided to chalk that up to experience and hope I am not in the same situation with this 5mg pen in a few weeks!

It didnt come out at first for me so I tapped it really hard and loads squirted out! I think the needle wasnt in correctly so then when I messed around with it then in clicked in properly! I was so annoyed at myself! There usually is 0.8ml left and you need 0.6ml for a normal dose so you must have lost loads 🙈
