Is there one yet? If not, should this be it? I’m starting tonight, so officially November, but hey! Am so nervous, woke up early this morning with anxiety. Would love tips from anyone who has started before on what / how to eat on first few days..I’m really concerned about debilitating side effects- should you just listen to your body or force yourself to eat chicken?! I keep seeing all these insta posts about eating protein!!

It didnt come out at first for me so I tapped it really hard and loads squirted out! I think the needle wasnt in correctly so then when I messed around with it then in clicked in properly! I was so annoyed at myself! There usually is 0.8ml left and you need 0.6ml for a normal dose so you must have lost loads 🙈

I know! I didn’t think I’d over primed but there was barely 0.5ml and it seemed a bit stupid to step down a dose.

Fingers crossed for next time!

Had a whoosh this morning on weigh in day! 3.75 off this week bringing me to 18 lbs total and into a new obesity class! I’m so happy. I’ve had to use willpower this week as haven’t felt the suppression but something is working. God bless mounjaro.

StrongGirlsLift · 03/01/2026 09:05

That’s amazing @Margaritawithlime, well done you.

MrsTigerface · 03/01/2026 10:20

Yesterday was my fourth weigh in - still a total of 10lb down, so no further loss. I was a bit disappointed, as even though it had been Christmas, I had eaten little. However…I did take waist and hip measurements at the start so did these again, and I have lost an inch and a half from both my waist and my hips. I am really pleased! Feeling slightly lighter too, if you know what I mean. 5th (2.5mg) jab taken yesterday. Let’s see where I am in another 4 weeks.

I am really enjoying reading about everyone else’s successes!

I wish I had taken proper measurements, my PT did mine but not in the places I would have done (eg he didnt do round the fattest part of my tummy). I do have some photos so I'll have to do an up to date one. I did feel like I could almost see some muscles yesterday but it annoyed me that I havent been able to get to the gym like I was a couple of months ago as then the difference would be even better!

Starting 3.75 today.
I only lost 1lb this week but have lost 8lb since 7th Dec which I’m pleased with.
I am a little concerned about my hair, I’ve been noticing strands of hair coming out when I wash it, I’m not sure if this has always happened or if it’s a side effect, anybody else?

@Gardener82 this was my concern too and this is why for nearly 2 years I was debating whether to go for the jabs or not. Hair loss is listed as one of the side affects - look at MJ jabs side effect on nhs website and boots website. How much are you eating calorie wise? How much protein? Check that first and see if it makes a difference

Took my second 2.5 jab this morning. It doesn’t feel like the first week. My appetite was suppressed immediately last week but this week not so much. Anyone had this?

Yep.. the first week was super intense for me. Second and subsequent weeks I’ve had rumbling tummy with hunger at points but still never really fancy ‘bad’ foods & eating a little satisfies it. Some days more hungry than others. I guess it’s the same as before taking the drug. Don’t panic! I’m 6 wks on 2.5 now & losing slowly & steadily. Are you tracking your intake? That helps.

I’m averaging between 1000-1300 calories per day.
Didn’t track over Christmas though.
I’m having porridge for breakfast and then
i’m trying to make my meals 50% salad/veg 40% meat/fish and 0-10% carbs.
I have spent a fortune over the last couple of years on my hair and it’s finally grown back and healthy.
It’s not something I want to ruin so if doesn’t improve I’ll stop taking Mounjaro once this pen is finished.
I’ve lost 10lb already and want to lose another 30/35lbs.
I’m going to go all in this month with exercise and try to lose a stone in January.
If my hair seems fine at the end of January I’ll do 8 more weeks maximum.
Either way that should get rid of a chunk of the weight I want to lose anyway.

I am hoping to do the 5th dose by using an insulin syringe it costs too much to throw it away. When you say you overprimed what does that look like? When I prime mine a bit shoots out the top is that normal? I don't know anyone else on this medication to ask questions to so sorry if that is a stupid question.

Yes normal! I have no idea how I did it but when I went to take my 5th dose there just wasn’t enough in.

I read this thread as I’ve been taking MJ for 5 weeks and still feel exhausted a lot of the time and also suffer from diarrhoea almost daily, mostly in the morning before I’ve eaten. Sounds like it’s just me?!?

The appetite suppression is great, as is the weight loss. Just struggling with the side effects. Thankfully the nausea has mostly now gone.

BelleEpoque27 · 04/01/2026 07:05

I did my fifth jab last night, and am 12 pounds down. Definitely slowed down over Christmas, but that's fine - I'm not panicking that I'll give up like I normally would. Some of my clothes are feeling quite loose, and I've lost 2cm off my stomach and hips.

I had a really bad stomach ache the day before yesterday and completely freaked myself out that I had gallstones or pancreatitis. I do have health anxiety and this is what I was most afraid of about taking Mounjaro - that I would have side effects and constantly be worried I was seriously ill. Not been fun. I think I'll contact the GP tomorrow and just flag it and see what they say. I suspect the stomach ache might have been a vegan meat-replacement I tried that day. Shame as it was tasty!

I find suppression varies quite a lot day to day and week to week. I think a lot depends on how much and what you ate the day before - if I have a very light day I'm hungrier the next day, which makes sense. It's actually really nice to feel like my natural appetite is in there somewhere, rather than just being constantly hungry like I was pre-MJ.

I'm still feeling really tired too.
The nausea seems to vary day to day.
Had 4 jab yesterday(Wegovy), 1st jab at 0.25, previous 3 have been lower doses by counting clicks (as I'm prone to side effects with pretty much everything).
I've got a rubbish headache today, but could just be coincidence.
The appetite suppression definitely wore off the last few days, but Ive found even when hungry (had a delicious cheese toasty that I really enjoyed the other day) I can't eat much at once and have been sick a couple of times a little while after a meal.
Scales haven't moved much, but I can see a difference
Still around 5lbs total loss in 3 weeks, and 3-4lbs of that came off in the 1st week.

I think I spoke too soon about my appetite not changing after my injection yesterday. I can hardly eat anything today. What do you guys do on days like this? I’ve managed a bit of toast and a few roast potatoes and vegetables. I’m thinking just fill up on yoghurt? Or just accept I’m not hungry today?

I focus on protein on those days so at least I am getting that in. Protein shakes/yoghurts and any fresh meat/veg I can stomach. I dont eat carbs on those days at all.

cobblers00 · 04/01/2026 15:01

@user1479317972this is when protein shakes are your friend! Yogurts too yes. I tend to stay off the carbs as they are more filling. Drink lots & lots of water though! You might find the suppression eases tomorrow.

I actually find that it makes me feel better too. Weirdly red meat in particular.

StrongGirlsLift · 04/01/2026 16:22

I agree, focus on fibre and protein and water when I’m struggling, and I’ve seen a lot of the more experienced posters on other threads saying not to sweat the odd day where you can’t eat much, so long as you feel ok. Weekly calories are more important than daily, really

ViciousChicken · 04/01/2026 18:50

I was convinced I wouldn’t have lost this week as wasn’t feeling the suppression much for the past 2 or 3 days. However I’ve lost another 0.9kg taking it to 3.5kg (over half a stone) in 4 weeks. I’m happy about that as I only have 1.5-2 stones to lose.
I’ve taken my first dose of 5mg today and the suppression seems better again. Hoping not to have any more side effects (my main ones so far have been heartburn and constipation).

cobblers00 · 04/01/2026 19:55

Guys, can’t remember if this was discussed on this thread or another, but if I want to go up a half dose, from 2.5 to 3.75, can anyone tell me how many doses I would get from a 5mg pen & how many clicks would it be each time?
